The sauce is generously poured on and soaked up by the rice, giving the rice much needed flavor and taste balance. A lemon wedge and several slices of pineapple are included to give the dish its tropical taste. Last time I was here I had the fried rice which was phenomenal! I was tempted to get it again today but I wanted to try something different. I opted for stir fried noodles with no sausage and the salt and pepper wings. They were packaged nicely for transporting home but I had to take a quick bite before the ride home. Used to love their seafood boil bag. I have gotten mine with 2 added Dungeness crabs added so it becomes high in cost but when I want it, I close my eyes that it's $133 before tax, tip and delivery fee which then becomes about $170. The sauce is great but the shrimps are mushy and overcooked. The real issue is the crabs. The flesh are mushy and grainy in texture like there are fine grainy feel in your mouth. I know they were previously frozen but the first time I ate them, they were good then the next two times, they were awful. I gave them the third time bcz I was hoping the second time was just incidental. Unfortunately, the problem repeated. They also do Hawaiian style shrimp plates, which has peeled shrimp with sweet and sour sauce over rice. There's only outdoor seating so you're going to have to eat in your car or sneak into the nearby McDonald's if it's super windy and cold outside. The food came out decently quickly enough and we hauled ass to run away from the cold afterwards. We got the: 1) Fried Whole Squid: -Always see these offered at night markets and you don't usually see it offered at restaurants so we ordered this. Comes with lime and their house sauces. -Tentacles were hard and chewy. Overall this was a bit too dry and chewy even with the sauces. Not like the quality fried squid that I've had elsewhere with the moister meat on the inside. 2) Beef sticks on rice: -Comes with 2 large skewers with lemon grass marinated grilled beef served with steamed rice, pickled papaya, and garnished with cilantro and green onion. -Probably the best of what we ordered. Moist and deliciously sauced beef. Went great with the rice. Pickled papaya was a unique addition to it too. 3) Stir Fried noodles: -Flat rice noodles tossed with chicken, shrimp, Chinese sausage, eggs, onions, Chinese broccoli and carrots. -It was more veggies than anything. Not that many noodles and the meat was all dry outside of the Chinese sausage. I took some bites of this and was done. Took the rest back to feed my dad who had to cook extra protein to go with this. 4) Spring Rolls: -Made with mint, lettuce, shrimp, pork belly, cucumber and bean sprout with all of the sauces. -The most disappointing of everything that we ordered. -All the meat inside was super dry, making the entire spring roll even drier than it already was, even with dousing it with sauce. Literally you can get better spring rolls at BMC. That's bad. 5) Thai Tea: -Decent fast food level Thai tea. Sweet pick me up if you need it. We order from A&J's often--almost every week at this point--which is why this experience was so disappointing. Unfortunately, one employee, Marisol, consistently provides poor customer service. She comes across as combative, takes no accountability for mistakes, and makes resolving simple issues unnecessarily difficult. My daughter called in our usual order for pickup. When she arrived, she immediately noticed something was wrong because the total was much lower than expected. When she politely brought it to Marisol's attention, instead of acknowledging that there may have been a mistake, Marisol insisted the order had never been placed that way. She then asked my daughter if she wanted to order the missing item while she was already there to pick up her food, which would require waiting another 15 minutes. Since the delay was the result of an incorrect order, my daughter asked if she could at least receive fresh fries while waiting. Marisol told her she would have to pay extra for fresh fries. Marisol also claimed that she had repeated the order back over the phone when it was originally placed. That simply isn't true. She rushed my daughter off the phone, saying she'd see her in 15 minutes, without reviewing the order. We've continued to support A&J's because the food is consistently excellent, but experiences like this make it harder to keep coming back. Great food can only go so far when customers are made to feel dismissed instead of valued. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides additional customer service training so loyal customers receive the experience they deserve. read more

I will say that despite nobody in front of me, my food took quite a while. Got the sandwich, a shrimp plate, and a thai iced tea. Beef stick sandwich is definitely unique and worth trying. Great flavors, great crunch from the slaw. I think it honestly needed some spice/sriracha. The shrimp plate was probably my favorite. I came a few months ago so I don't have any photos unfortunately, but it was a solid meal, honestly we thought it would be better because of the hype. I've never been to Hawaii but we were going to Queen Mary Dark Harbor so we thought to try it.
