    Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi
    Susan H.

I tried Gladstone's out this evening and am SO glad I did. I had the macadamia crusted mahi mahi with broccoli and gladstone rice (pilaf). It was absolutely delicious. It was all very, very good-the fish, the veggie and the rice. The service (by Andrew) was fine. So was the atmostphere. I had a nice view of the water. Music played in the bar area. I could hear it in the background in the restaurant section, but it wasn't distracting or loud. The next time I'm in the area, I'll be sure to return.

Now we be expected from PCH! But that's OK. The food was delicious. The steak was was amazing.. The clam chowder was very good however we missed having the peanuts. I guess that's only on the PCH Gladstone.. He also had the fish and chips. They were OK. The deviled eggs were amazing.. go check out Gladstones in Long Beach. Definitely get the steak. It was delicious!

It's been awhile since I visited the Long Beach area. During lunch we chose Gladstone's restaurant. They have a good reputation for seafood. We ordered a Sourdough loaf, Crab Cakes, Fish Tacos, Soup and Salad. The bread was yummy and warm with butter on the side. The Crab Cakes were crispy on the outside and moist in the inside. The Fish Tacos were served on soft corn tortillas and topped with diced tomato and red onion. The service was great. We didn't have reservations, but we were able to get a table in the patio with a spectacular view of the Rainbow Harbor. Be sure to check their "Crabby" menu for daily specials on food and drinks. Sincerely, Rosemary

Haven't been here for years! We decided to have brunch here on a Friday. Long Beach weather was hot, 87 degrees and climbing. Greeted and seated. Decided to sit outside at the patio. Luckily there were umbrellas to provide some shade or else the heat would be unbearable. All in one shot, ordered a beer, cocktails, calamari appetizer, fish soup and fish and chips. All was served within 15 to 20 minutes. I had all the time in the world to relax for brunch. The ambiance was that of a summer vibe but still clearly in the winter season. That is So Cal weather for you. Got to love it!! No complaints on the food and service. The best part was the service. Big Kudos to James who was our server. He was professional and kind. Always attended to us in a way where we would not even had to look for him. He was always there asking on what we need and what we wanted. A true professional! Give that man a raise$$! :) Overall, i would definitely come back to this location. You over look the harbor and Shoreline village. Nice place to take a date. Good for long conversations. The Queen Mary blows its horn every hour. Its pretty cool. Parking is limited. You would either have to park at the aquarium or at Shoreline Village if you decide not to choose the Valet parking in that area. No validation for the Shoreline village area. Surrounding is beautiful! The ocean boardwalk has plenty of restaurants to provide perfect ambiance. Long Beach is chill with beautiful landscaping. Love this place. I would definitely come back!

It was first time eating at this restaurant with friends. We were hungry after walking all morning at the Japanese Classic Auto Show. The service is great the food was good. We all had fish and chips, fish tacos, and one person got a burger. The coleslaw was not too fresh and was lacking seasoning. It must of been slow the week before, most likely. So the lack of product movement is a factor for this. Everyone enjoyed the spacious restaurant and the seating. The view is pretty good, and in some areas view of the Harbour area and of the Queen Mary can be seen. Im guessing it gets pretty crazy busy at nights? Also, with the live music outside and nearby. Enjoy!

Macadamia crusted mahi mahi in a vanilla bean sauce, with broccoli and mashed potatoes

We were excited to eat at Gladstone's as we hadn't been to one in years (decades?). First, this location is great. It was like a summer night on the first day of spring, weather was perfect, and we got an outdoor table during sunset with a great view of the Queen Mary. We made reservations and appreciate that the hostess sat us outside upon request. I was surprised that the restaurant was pretty empty inside being in such a great location and such great weather. Of our dishes - poke nachos, macadamia crusted mahi mahi, and swordfish - the poke nachos were the best. Beautiful presentation and very tasty. The swordfish was good, not the best we've had. The broccoli sides were really good. And of course the fresh bread was delicious. The mahi mahi itself was really good and had a thick macadamia "crust" but it was presented with a vanilla bean sauce that I think had a balsamic drizzle on top. I did see that description on the menu and looking back I probably should've asked them to prepare it with a citrus/lemon sauce instead. May just be me (and my family members who tried it), but I just wasn't a fan of vanilla bean sauce with my fish! We had leftovers so I asked my waitress if they still wrap leftovers in the shape of aluminum foil animals. She shared that this used to be part of the training when hired but they no longer train employees to do it. She had been with Gladstones for a while, though and had been trained so she offered to do it - I had to say yes! My family members were mortified and got quite a laugh out of it but I thought it was great that she brought back my mahi mahi leftovers as an aluminum foil swan! . I later looked up this location and I don't think it is owned by the larger Gladstones family of restaurants so maybe that's why their employees aren't trained, but I say bring back the aluminum foil animal leftovers! It's such a fun, low-cost thing to bring back!

Came here after a morning at the aquarium. Really cool vibe being right on the water in the marina, definitely a good spot for a seafood place. We were seated quickly and our server was pretty good about making sure we were taken care of. The highlight of our meal was the Boston Clam Chowder, really nice. Everything else was okay, the seasonings were on point though. The shrimp in both of our dishes were pretty tough which was a bummer since they looked so good. I think this is a good spot in a convenient location if you're visiting the area.

Good: Creamiest and tastiest clam chowder I've ever had! Bad: Servers are friendly but the service sucks! Worse: Parking is worse than the service! Worst: Don't ever order the Prime New York Steak! It's mealy, tasteless and overpriced IMNSHO... Enjoy the tourists lol

My experience was NOT good. We had reservations for 5pm and we were about 10 minutes late. They sat us right away so we were excited. We had high expectations for everything from that point forward. We figured out what we wanted and sat for 30 min waiting for someone to take our order. One waitress helped a table right next to us and never looked our way every time she passed by. One young lady, Alicia, saw us and came over to see if we were ready to order and was the best waitress. She was attentive and took care of everything we asked for. She was really sweet. The food was tasteless. We ordered Parmesan crusted halibut with mashed potatoes and broccoli and the seafood trio and it wasn't good. We ordered sweet potato fries and they were burnt or over cooked. We will not be returning. But Alicia is the bomb and we loved her!

Great seafood, excellent service, and some of the best harbor views around. The view of the historic Queen Mary and the Long Beach Harbor made the experience even more enjoyable. Watching the ships and waterfront activity while enjoying a fresh seafood meal was unforgettable. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to!

Cold clam chowder, cold ribs and so stressed I ordered a Coor's light.

Came in for Mother's Day, (our first time here) we were sat outside right upon walk-in, we ordered by 1:30p. We and multiple tables didn't receive our entrees until 3pm!!! The food was cold and mediocre. Luckily our waiter was very kind and apologetic, unfortunately can't say the same about the woman manager, she mentioned her GM "Scott" was "on the phone" not sure what that meant but we weren't met with much empathy. I will not be recommending or dining at the place ever! We had a 3pm movie which we were 1 hr late for, the upside is my mom didn't let this experience ruin her Mother's Day. Do better Gladstone's!

I highly recommend going to this restaurant. They have a nice waterfront of the marina outdoor seating. The customer service needs a little bit of work, but it was pretty good. I just got some appetizers the lobster deviled eggs are delicious but oysters are nice and fresh. Very delicious and Aji nachos are out of this world very fresh flavorful and wonderful. They make very adult beverages. I highly suggest mIThai. I will be definitely going back to this restaurant when I return to the city of Long Beach California go and check them out. If you are in the area I'm pretty sure you will not be disappointed.

Their food was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed everything we got with no complaints. The service was very welcoming and our server was very sweet and patient with us. We had a reservation at 12:15pm but we got there earlier than expected and they were able to seat us right as they opened. It was really relaxing and calming. We sat outside and had an amazing view of the water and the queen mary. I highly recommend the coconut shrimp they were delicious especially the dipping sauce that went with it. I honestly might have to go back and try their other dishes

Located off the fun Retro Row on Fourth St. with the last Friday event happening, we noticed a good amount of people walking in and there was a security guard out front. There was also a corner that hosted a live band. When we arrived, no one was playing yet. The crowd seemed to be more of the younger hipster vibe. A completely different crowd from the LA scenes. Getting a drink wasn't that bad even though it was busy. I happened to get lucky when someone moved from the bar stool for me to approach. I was a little surprised when the wine I ordered was in a box...lol... I mean, it was whatever. Some options were for a glass only or for both a glass or bottle. But when it came to checking out, tipping options went from 20 25 percent to 30 percent. Wasn't used to that as an option as it's not like you're dinning in. Anyway, the surprise was when we walked out and seen that they had a massive back patio. It was hard finding a seat as it was packed. There was also a food trunk on deck but wasn't sure what they were serving. We noticed people with hotdogs and someone with a box of pizza. Not sure if it's from the vendor or if you're allowed outside food in. The vibe was fun, the crowd was lively and everyone there for a good time. It's more of a younger scene. It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

The space is charming, cozy, and has a great neighborhood feel. The service was friendly, the wine selection was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. Overall, it was a wonderful way to end the evening. We had a great time and would definitely stop by again 10/10.

There's a small patio right infront of the main area inside. Their wine selection was quite impressive. So much things to choose from. Not only wine, but they also have beer on tap available. I stopped in half an hour before they closed and it was still pretty busy. They have a tasting menu is you were into sampling some wine. What was offered for the tasting menu was quite nice. I think there's only a flight of 3 and the selection was quite nice. One was bold which was really nice. Also, the beer on tap was great. I believe that you could be members of the place as we noticed the orders for pickup. It's quite a nice cool spot for tasting. The main bar area was nice, service was great and friendly. Seemed more like all the locals and members. Quite an impressive selection of wine for purchase.

Sala Coffee & Wine Bar in Long Beach is so cute, like dangerously cute. I came for a book club…read moreevent and only got a coffee this time, which feels very responsible of me, but also... I already know I need to come back for food and wine. Obviously. The vibe was cozy, the staff was super friendly, and it just felt like the kind of place where you bring a book, romanticize your life, and accidentally stay way longer than planned. Coffee, wine, books, cute little atmosphere? Honestly, they knew exactly what they were doing. Five stars. I will be returning, probably with a book and my friend

First it's 7:30pm, planned on ordering a matcha and the person at the register informed me that there was "No coffee or tea after 4pm" so I choose to order a non alcoholic beverage and maybe something to eat and cashier or owner, whoever this person was tells me if I plan to work because it becomes a "laptop free zone" after 4pm. Odd behavior to tell someone what they can and can't do at an establishment considering it's called a coffee AND wine bar. Maybe this is something to advertise on your yelp and website but a "laptop free zone" after 4pm is pretty ridiculous for potential customers who were just looking to eat and work. I almost feel like he just told me that because I was going to order a salad and a non alcoholic beverage and wasn't planning on ordering much. As the other 1 star reviews mention "pretentious behavior" so it's either the cashier or whoever it was is plowing pretentious as others mentioned or RACIST... Kinda odd to dictate what I do on my own accord while I'm a patron at your establishment. If I ordered food and a drink but chose to open my laptop, are you going to ask me to leave? Doesn't really seem customer centric. I've worked at restaurants before. Considering this is not a club, there's no live music and there were only 3 people sitting in there, I think I would have been fine to sit there quietly in a corner with my laptop. 1 star for the experience and weird behavior like I said either pretentious or racist but weird behavior nonetheless.

It's a nice spot located in Belmont shore. It's very clean and spacious on the inside with couch seating along with tables and chairs. It isn't loud but they did have some music playing. It's a good spot to chill at with family and or friends for a few glasses of wine. It's also a cool spot for a nice intimate date. Had the pleasure of tasting 4 different wines; 2 whites and 2 reds. I enjoyed the wines. You can bring your own snacks and charcuterie board. The hostess was very knowledgeable of the wines, sharing backstories of where and how they were produced. It was a good learning experience also.

When we arrived we were told there was no chef so only a few items could be made from the menu. I chose a flatbread but was then told they had no gluten free bread. So we had to get the charcuterie which was so small and cost $30. Really ridiculous price for something with a few pieces of meat, cheese, grapes and nuts. The wine was good, and the tastings were generous and I know it is a wine bar but the day was really spoiled by not having a lunch there. I don't think I would go there again. If you do make sure they have a chef before you go if you want to eat.
