First time visit today! Easy to find & decent street parking. Upon arriving, we were the only two people inside on a Sunday around 1pm. Shortly after the small restaurant started to fill up. Staff was patient while we took a while to decide (the menu is definitely extensive). Started with deep fried shrimp rolls, came with 6 & were delicious. I ordered the rice combo plate that included rice, pork chop, chicken, and shrimp with egg and salad all for $12. We were checked on multiple times and waters stayed full. Truth be told, I was honestly skeptical of this place when my girlfriend first found it on Yelp. I remember thinking to myself, "Nah, there can't be legit Vietnamese/Chinese food in Greenwood." I have ordered this at least 4 more times since the first time. My girlfriend got something that wasn't traditionally Vietnamese. She really likes the Crispy Chowmein noodles dish. Dined here with friends that live in the area and recommended it. Parking in the front is super busy. There is paid parking in two separate back lots behind the building with entrance on either side street. Parking was $3 for an hour or two. Showed up for lunch on a Saturday with a party of 6. Our server made a couple suggestions. We ordered the combo rice plate, sweet and sour pork and chow fun. The combo plates were delicious and included pork chop, chicken, shrimp, eggs and fresh veggies on a bed of steamed rice. Everything was grilled to perfection and was fresh and tasty. My kids really liked the sweet and sour pork and the chow fun noodles. I took a star away because our server completely forgot our drinks and didn't check on us for water refills after she dropped off the food. She didn't come back around until our meal was over and she was dropping off the check. I would definitely come back and do take out. We ordered: - Fresh spring rolls with pork - Pork Bánh mi - Combination vermicelli - Side of pho soup (beef broth) The spring rolls and combination vermicelli were good! Very standard. Nothing spectacular but would definitely get them again if the craving hit. The pork bánh mi is also good. It's very affordable, but you get what you pay for. It's filled enough to satisfy a bánh mi craving, but don't expect a stuffed sandwich. The pho broth was SUPER salty. I'm talking....I needed to dilute it with water so that it ended up 1:1 broth and water....type of salty. Once diluted, it was perfect to sip on. I did only get straight up broth, though. The noodles, meat, and veggies may make a difference, but I can't imagine that it'd be by much. The broth had a very interesting (mild) amaretto flavor to it almost? Hard to describe. It didn't really bother me, though. All in all, I'll go back when I crave vermicelli noodles, but I probably wouldn't order pho. The man at the register was very nice. Ok so here's the deal...I visited Green Tree under very unique circumstances. It was Christmas Day. During Covid. And all the other Chinese restaurants in the hood were closed. As you can imagine, this experience did not go perfectly smoothly. I ordered online, saw a 40-60 minute estimate, and arrived about 45 minutes after I ordered. I ended up waiting a full HOUR inside the restaurant for my order. "But you're still giving them 4 stars?" you inquire. "That's right" say I. Look...these guys were in WAY over their heads, working on a holiday, and while I didn't enjoy the long wait, I felt really bad for them. There were maybe 5-6 other people at a time, waiting for as long as I did, which is a horrible feeling being behind the counter drowning in order tickets. Besides, they handled everything graciously despite some clearly frustrated customers. It's a no-brainer for me to give them a pass on the slow service given the circumstances. On food alone, they have well earned the 4-star rating. The Pork Egg Rolls were crisp and tasty, the Sautéed Green Beans were nice and crunchy (they're so often overcooked elsewhere) although they unfortunately lacked the pork we were expecting, and the Kong Pao chicken was excellent all around - fresh veggies, tender chicken, and a great sauce. We were craving Chinese that night, but I'm looking forward to going back under more normal circumstances to try some of their Vietnamese fare. Woweee the food here is delicious. I feel it's a best kept secret kind of thing because it's a small establishment that can get overlooked at the crowded intersection of 85th and Greenwood. The Vegetarian Vermicelli Bowl with Chinese Mushrooms, Ham, Fried & Grilled Tofu is delicious! It's easily two servings and I had to stop myself from eating the entire thing in one setting. It's even better as leftovers the next day. A lot of great flavors, two styles of cooked tofu, and the imitation ham adds a complexity that puts it over the top. The stir-fried mixed vegetables were also delicious with a nice spicy after kick. Fast and pleasant service and has some nice bopping music streaming from the speakers. I live a few blocks away and frequent many of the establishments on Greenwood Ave. Since it's establishment Green Tree has become my go to on nights where I don't feel like cooking. As a half hearted vegan I generally stick to their tofu/veggie options, all of which are fantastic some of my personal favorites are the bahn mi and lemongrass tofu. The food is killer and very well priced, I'm always left full and feeling like I'm getting value for my money. In addition, this is a great example of small business. You can tell they care about their customers, I always have a great experience even if it is the 2 min it takes to pickup my order. I had some sort of lemon grass ginger sautéed pork and it was 3 fire emojis (), which are unrelated to stars. This is a top rating. The fried rice was disappointing at best. I got the works with a pork, shrimp, other stuff, and such... it was better when I reheated it the next day with some juices from that pork. I'll be back for sure, just not for the fried rice. As a Vietnamese and as the son of a Vietnamese chef - let me tell you - their bánh cuốn (rice rolls - items #83-86 on the menu) are remarkably close to the real deal. Definitely a wonderful surprise as I have scouted for good bánh cuốn all over Seattle and could only count on one hand how many places that could pull off this dish - and this Viet place in the middle of Greenwood that I randomly stumbled upon yesterday has now made the list. My girlfriend ordered the Vietnamese pancake and it exceeded expectations as well. Oftentimes it is the dishes that are not as high profile as say phở or vermicelli bowls/rice plates that set a good authentic Viet restaurant apart from the competition - and the Green Tree passed the test with flying colors. So I just devoured a Vietnamese Pancake, Banh Xeo, the best I've ever had. I'd never been a big fan of them as I usually find them to be oily, not here. I can't put my finger on the secret ingredient, might be sugar, but this crepe stood out, I felt a little out of control ripping up herbs, veggies, & the crepe, it was super addictive. Ordered (too much) takeaway. Very quick pickup. Pretty legit Vietnamese food. Fresh spring rolls have a little crispy stick in the middle which gives them a great texture. Vietnamese pancake/crepe was quite greasy and was a bit too sweet (had a sweet coconut cream taste). Mongolian beef had a great flavor but the meat was a little tough. Grilled beef wrapped in betel leaves was my favorite except the dipping sauce was way too fishy. Combo rice and combo vermicelli plates were what you'd expect and want. I'm sorry it took me so long to eat here, but I'm always wary of restaurants that serve a ton of menu items. That was a misplaced fear, this is legitimately my favorite Vietnamese cuisine in North Seattle. When I first moved to Seattle I was worried I wouldn't be able to find bánh mì like I used to get in Little Saigon. I kept finding places that skimped on đồ chua or made it too sweet--but I don't have that problem here, there are even jalapeños in there, at last!
