Service was good, the staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was alright. I've never had dahi puri before, but this was inedible to me. The whole inside was just yogurt and was very sweet. That may just be a personal preference though since I'm not actually sure what it's supposed to be like! The chicken tikka masala was also a tad sweet for my liking, the cucumber raita helped balance it out though. The garlic naan was very good! Would I come again or recommend to someone else? No. But it's not horrible.

I really like this place because they also offer servings of just the butter or tikka masala sauce for $5, which is awesome because I somehow always run out of sauce when I have naan and rice. The curries were flavorful, meats were not dry, and the rice and naan were fluffy. Not much more I could ask for.

I don't know much about Indian food, but really enjoyed this place. This review is for takeout. We ordered: Butter Chicken, Palak Paneer, Cucumber Raita, Chicken Tikka, Garlic Chive Naan and Mango Lassi. My partner said the "fine" but I thought it was very good. I was surprised the Cucumber Raita was so liquidy, but it had good flavor and helped offset spice levels. We both loved everything else. All of the food was packed well, the pickup estimated time was right on schedule, and the staff at the front desk was so warm and inviting. I felt like the portions were very reasonable for the price. We will be back!

TLDR: overall not bad but some of the spices were off. Would want to try Magic Masala again tho. We ordered takeout and got the following: Veg Pakora: pretty damn good with a small spicy kick with some small bits of potato. No pictures tho. Chana Masala: I thought it was pretty good but wife felt the spices were not in proportion. Coconut Chicken Curry: TBH not sure we really got this because it tasted just like the Chana Masala sauce but with chicken instead of chickpea. Butter Chicken: just a bit overly sweet sauce that overpowered everything else. Wife did not like. Disappointing Burnt Garlic Chicken Fried Rice: I liked this. Like the name implies it has garlic that is browned and then stir fried with basmati rice. I give it a fuyyyyyoooh (for the Uncle Roger fans).

Magic Masala was one of the more delicious Indian food places I've ever been to! It seems a little bit of a hole in the wall, but they keep it nice and clean inside. The hostess/server lady was really welcoming. The food ended up being perfect proportions. You could just tell they perfected the recipes. We ordered the Chicken Tikka and Garlic Naan. The Chicken Tikka had a depth of flavors from savory to sweet that worked beautifully. The Garlic naan also seemed super fresh and was perfect. Highly recommend checking these guys out!

My husband and I went to taste of India on a rainy Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. The inside…read morewas warm and cozy, and our servers were prompt and attentive. The currys were piping hot and delicious. I've struggled to find great butter masala in Seattle, and taste of India's hit the mark! Not pictured, but their naans are huge. My husband and I each ordered naan, and the amount of rice, curry, and naan was the perfect amount for a full serving of leftovers. We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary samosa appetizers and chocolate torte dessert. Ultimately this place is fantastic and we look forward to coming back- would love to come on a summer evening and sit outside on their patio.

so, this place is pretty clearly, and almost objectively so, made exclusively for westerners…read more what i mean by that is that this place serves Indian food that will not attempt to challenge western palettes in any way - rather its goal is to have people walking out with a mildly positive attitude towards the food. if someone were to ask them how the food was, they will say that it's fine and say that indian food is an underrated cuisine. the first indication of this that caught my eye was on the menu, where it was listed that "all spice levels are American standard". The fact that this is on the menu at an *Indian restaurant* is pretty ridiculous, in my opinion. I'll get to the spice levels later The second indication was when the waiter brought out our naan, and said "Here's your naan bread". I almost laughed out loud at this point. Naan bread? Thank god we didn't order chai or he would've said "Here's your chai tea". when we actually got our food, it was as disappointing as I expected Despite the fact that I ordered the 'Hot' spice level (the second highest), this had utterly no spice at all. I know that I have a high spice tolerance, but you know it's not good when other people at my table who have a low tolerance cannot taste any spice whatsoever. I've had hotter dishes ordering the 'Hot' level at American restaurants! In addition to there not being any spice, there was pretty much no flavor at all to the curries. There was just no point to the gravy on both the Jaipuri "Masala" and the Vegetable Kofta, as it both cases it was quite bland and essentially tasted like nothing. The paneer and the kofta were ok - but nothing more than average. Again, the lack of any kind of flavor is just crazy. Our table also got the Biryani, which had decent vegetables but also suffered from a lack of flavor The roti and garlic naan that we got were really hard and difficult to break apart. not very good at all If you're Indian - do not come here - you'll get far better Indian food either a) at home or b) at another place If you're not Indian - I would highly recommend trying another place to actually get a taste of what Indian food is really like. This watered-down version simply isn't it. I would recommend Saffron Grill in Northgate for an example of Indian food done correctly on the positive side, one thing i appreciated about this menu is the customization available for different curries this is especially helpful when it relates to giving options to vegetarians, as it doesn't restrict people who are vegetarian to specific curry options having paneer, vegetables, and tofu options available for each curry is pretty good i also thought the spinach naan was pretty good. out of all the bread we ordered, it was the only naan that managed to be soft, and easy to pull apart the spinach inside tasted pretty good as well the complimentary samosas (although clearly reheated from frozen) and sweet at the end was a decent touch the portion sizes were also decent - the amount of rice that came with the curry was pretty significant

The owner and manager always made sure to greet my mother and I whenever we came in and recognized us as regulars. They would even send us a free dessert, usually baklava, at the end of our meal, which is so sweet. The delicious food and staff is what keeps this in regular rotation for me. My order stays the same pretty much every time I come in. Butter lamb masala, madras masala with prawns, dal soup, and a garlic naan. Butter lamb: rich in flavor and I love how creamy the tomato flavor is. We used to get chicken but when we started coming with my aunt we switched to lamb because she doesn't eat chicken, and I really love how nice the lamb is in this dish. It's not too gamey either which can sometimes steer people away from eating lamb. Madras masala with prawns: I love getting this dish with the butter masala because the flavor of madras is more of an acidic tomato curry rather than a rich creamy curry. I think the shrimp also is a better option in this since it's a tomato vinegar base and not creamy. The shrimp pairs really well in this dish and prawns are always cooked very nicely, not tough and the shrimp are a good size. Dal soup: super flavorful not too thin of a soup which is nice. The lentils are cooked very well not too tough or mushy Garlic naan: it's bread and garlic, what more can I say! It's great to eat with any of the curries here but I love eating it with my dal soup.

the first thing I appreciated here was the customization…read more to start, the menu had many different curries - way more than what you would find at a typical indian restaurant there were 17 main indian curries, and that's not even counting the Tandoori or Vegetarian curries, or even the Mediterranean food The part that was really nice, however, was the customization Each of these 17 curries could have 3 vegetarian options - Vegetables, Tofu, or Paneer, and also another 4-5 different meat options as well I've never really seen this at an Indian restaurant - usually the main 'base' of the curry is already given and you just have to pick the type of curry based on what's provided Since our entire group was vegetarian, it was incredibly nice to have the option to pick any of these curries - so we weren't limited by a bunch of curries that already came with meat. In addition, different people in our group could add different 'bases' based on what they preferred - for example I asked for Paneer with my Rogan Josh, while others in my group asked for vegetables with their curry/biryani As far as the food itself, I thought this was also fantastic Starting with the Rogan Josh with Paneer, it's rare that the gravy is as flavorful as I saw here Normally, the Paneer will be the main focus of the curry - and here I found the paneer to be very good; it was firm and quite satisfying to bite into as it didn't get soggy from the curry like you might see in other places. It had a fullness to it However, I found the flavors of the remaining gravy to also be incredible. There was a rich, deepness to its flavor not found in other Indian restaurants where the gravy is more liquidy and just there to support the Paneer When it came to the Jalfrezi, I really liked the vegetables in here. While I didn't find the gravy to be as flavorful as the Rogan Josh, the vegetables in this were cooked really well and satisfying to eat. I did prefer the Rogan Josh over this, though It's interesting that this and the other curry were both ordered at a 'Hot' spice level - but I found this to be spicier than the other one The naan was also excellent. Several members of our group commented on how soft it was - and having my share of Indian restaurants where the naan is super hard - I found this softness to be excellent. This may have been the best texture of any naan I've had at a restaurant. The softness made it super easy to break apart and envelop the curry with I also quite liked that the curries weren't overflowing with oil - there certainly was some - but it was a reasonable amount The one downside is this place is somewhat expensive. For a curry + naan it'll end up being at least 30 dollars, and one serving of naan might not be enough. I've seen places which give you a lot more curry for a lower price, but I will say this definitely made up for it in quality Also, I thought the naan could've had more garlic on it - it didn't quite really have much flavor We also got a free gulab jamun (x4) at the end of our meal - which was surprising but excellent

The low spice level was good for my weak palate and overall the flavors were solid. In particular, I liked the veggie curry. Service: This was where the experience felt lackluster. It took well over 10 minutes for the one server (not her fault, they're lowkey understaffed for a Sunday lunch) to make their way to our table after we were sat. Our waters were never filled once after the initial filling (why would we still be expected to tip?), and the food took longer than average to come out than I've had at other Indian establishments. Granted, the food was better than I've had at other Indian places, but the time it took for things to come out was a bit longer than we would've liked. The plates that were at our table were also definitely cleaned poorly. The restaurant is only a GOOD rating out of five on the cleanliness scale (inspection done by the health department in the state of WA) and I think that does not come without reason. My plate still had some food remnants and smudges from previous servings. Atmosphere: Pretty decent place to talk, seating was fine, bathrooms were clean. We got the curry leaf chicken and the Vijayawada special boneless Chicken biryani at medium spice. The spice level was manageable, and the flavors were good. The menu had quite a few things I had to ask for more information about, as they were things I was not familiar with. Indian takeout on St. Patrick's Day, oops my bad. Most likely this takeout was cobbled together from the lunch buffet. Overall the cuisine was a decent variety and generously packaged. Each takeout box had basmati rice, peas & carrots in a tomato based sauce, bite sized samosas, with the main entrees provided were butter chicken, saag paneer, and chicken vindaloo. Reasonable to call it a takeout thali. Can't speak to ambiance because it was takeout. Service was swift and efficient, showed my TGTG order and handed a bag with two takeout containers. In, out, and go. I was glad for the thick plastic bag because it was overfilled, oozed out, and could have been a mega mess in the car heading back home. What was missing was the ka-pow flavor! Indian cuisine usually has mega flavor and palate pleasing. This did not align with my earlier visits from way back when. Perhaps I'm accustomed to fave Indian spots in the UDistrict. But when brought home, another family member,The Homie, agreed on this assessment when we later dined at home. Not bad, not great. Kind of a let down from my earlier memories of India Bistro. With the vast regional Indian spots in Seattle and across the lake in Bellevue and Redmond, I kind of expected OG India Bistro to be gold standard. Just okay, hence the three stars for this TGTG experience.
