Lamb kabob roll, chana chaat, and masala chai
    Keri N.

I've had this spot on my list for a while and it absolutely delivered. The space is casual and welcoming, excellent customer service, and the food was delicious across the board. The lamb kabob roll and chana chaat were packed with flavor, and the masala chai was perfect, not too sweet since you add in your own sugar. Left full and happy. Can't wait to come back!

We had chicken roll and lamb roll and some snacks. The rolls are sooo good and rich. I would definitely come back for the lamb roll!

I've been coming here for a couple of years now. I love the lamb wrap and the chicken wrap. It feels like I'm eating something relatively healthy, but still with a comfort food taste. Oh and they also have very good soft serve! The service is always top notch

Great tasting Indian food! I love how casual and convenient the spot is, lots of flavor for the right price. Even their soft serve was spectacular. I highly recommend this place and would come back.

Spice Waala offers a short menu of Indian street food--kathi rolls, chaats, and soft serve! The kathi rolls were made with a thin, soft roti flatbread with a choice of filling, and I had the Lamb Kebab, made with a generous portion of spiced and grilled lamb patties along with cilantro chutney and pickled onions. We also tried the Papdi Chaat (described as Indian nachos), made of crispy fried dough and sliced potatoes topped with tamarind chutney, yogurt, sev, and beet greens; and the Chana Chaat, made of chickpeas in a spicy, tangy dressing topped with sev. For dessert, we had their Haldi Doodh soft serve, a light dairy-based ice cream made with turmeric milk, which had a lightly spiced and sweet flavor. Overall, this was a simple but tasty place for super affordable Indian street food!

Ok. Mind officially blown!! I don't know why it's taken me so long to try Spice Waala?! But I will certainly be a return customer! Let me tell you about the Aloo Tikki Chaat.... I've never had anything like this before. The combination of flavors and textures...just wow. It was a taste bud party in my mouth. All the toppings are packaged separately and they include a little card with assembly instructions. Which for a first timer, was very helpful. I cannot recommend this enough! And at a $5.50 price point too! Also tried the Kathi Roll Lamb Kebab. Also divine. So much great flavor. It's not huge, but it doesn't need to be. packs a punch of protein in a convenient roll. I'd ordered an extra yogurt sauce for this, but I honestly didn't need it, as I had some left over from the chaat. The menu is small, but excellently executed. I can't wait to come back and try more items. Take a look at the About section of their website too. They are a company that cares about their employees and community. And I will happily support them again and again. Trust me. Run, don't walk, to go and try Spice Waala!!

A small, spacious, and colorful interior with delicious food. There's only 6 tables inside for seating but the lack of tables seems intentional and gives the place a more relaxing feel. The Chicken was spicy but not too spicy, it was marinated well, cooked to perfection, and extremely juicy. The cilantro chutney incorporated was the perfect sweet element which balanced out the spiciness quite well. My only complaint is that when they scrape the grill clean it sounded like nails on a chalkboard, which was quite irritating.

Chicken Tikka Roll - so tiny!

EDITED TO ADD: I've only ever encountered passive aggressive comments from a business owner once before and it's not fun. Especially since these reviews are written based on MY personal experience. Good entrepreneurs take all customer reviews into consideration. The good, the bad, the in betweens, they're all experiences that customers had at your establishment. Instead of being defensive and trying to argue about what kind of experience the customer had, use these reviews to make the next experience even better. No human is perfect. No restaurant is perfect. There is ALWAYS room for improvement. I'm deducting a star on this review for bad sportsmanship. I don't appreciate someone telling me that my taste or experience is invalid. One word: overhyped. My brother highly recommended this spot during my last visit to Seattle so I decided I had to give it a try. Placed my order online hoping to have it conveniently ready to go by the time I arrived 15 minutes later. You know, how pick up orders usually work. Just so y'all know, it doesn't work like that here. After you've placed (and paid for) your order online you must still check in before they start making your order. So plan accordingly! Now, onto the food! I ordered two items to share with my brother since we had dinner in 2 hours and wanted to stay hungry for that! We tried a Chicken Tikka Roll and the Masala Aloo. Chicken Tikka Roll - This was waaaay smaller than I thought it would be. It's grilled spiced chicken wrapped in a thin roti with raw onions and green chutney. It was $7.50 for like a three bite wrap. It definitely could have used more flavor. Maybe even just some salt to enhance the existing flavors? It was just missing.. a lot for $7.50. Snack Masala Aloo - Fries coated heavily in their special spice blend. These fries were fried so long that most of them were translucent. It's weird though, some fries felt suuuper heavy while others were super light and crispy. They also weren't hot. Spice blend was just okay. Tasted like whatever they put on the chicken. Again, salt would definitely have helped here. Cool thing about these fries though, we couldn't finish because it started feeling super heavy after a few fries so left them out. 4 hours later my brother tried one and they were still crispy! (Remind anyone of that Super Size me documentary that went viral years ago?) The store itself is just a little takeout spot. A few tables scattered inside and like 2(?) tables outside. Open kitchen so you can see your order being made. Would I try this place again? Probably not. The price vs food quality was just not it for me. And having to wait 15 minutes to get my food after placing an online order to avoid having to wait 15 minutes is a bit silly. Wouldn't you agree?

This is a gem of an Indian snack place. I have been in Greater Seattle area for the last 2 years and this is the best in town. They don't have a wide spectrum of options and have narrowed down to a few items. The best part is whatever cuisine they decided to keep in menu they have absolutely mastery in that. The chicken Tikka roll had a smoky flavor - either they infused the smoke flavor or they are cooking it over charcoal - either way it's impressive. The mano swirl was tasty and dense - had really rich texture. The Aloo Tikki Chat was so well done - doesn't feel oily at all. In fact it was pretty light. I loved their Bhel poori too. Talking about ambience the place is rather small and I would suggest a to go. The service is good.

Confused by signage--does "gluten" mean gluten-free or containing gluten? Is anything that doesn't list "gluten" gluten-free?

All of our Kathi Rolls are wrapped in roti (thin bread) which contains gluten. You can ask for the bread on the side or no bread, but the Lamb & Aloo say "gluten" because they have breadcrumbs inside we can't take out. Apart from that, the Chana… Read more

Indian takeout on St. Patrick's Day, oops my bad. Most likely this takeout was cobbled together from the lunch buffet. Overall the cuisine was a decent variety and generously packaged. Each takeout box had basmati rice, peas & carrots in a tomato based sauce, bite sized samosas, with the main entrees provided were butter chicken, saag paneer, and chicken vindaloo. Reasonable to call it a takeout thali. Can't speak to ambiance because it was takeout. Service was swift and efficient, showed my TGTG order and handed a bag with two takeout containers. In, out, and go. I was glad for the thick plastic bag because it was overfilled, oozed out, and could have been a mega mess in the car heading back home. What was missing was the ka-pow flavor! Indian cuisine usually has mega flavor and palate pleasing. This did not align with my earlier visits from way back when. Perhaps I'm accustomed to fave Indian spots in the UDistrict. But when brought home, another family member,The Homie, agreed on this assessment when we later dined at home. Not bad, not great. Kind of a let down from my earlier memories of India Bistro. With the vast regional Indian spots in Seattle and across the lake in Bellevue and Redmond, I kind of expected OG India Bistro to be gold standard. Just okay, hence the three stars for this TGTG experience.

The menu had quite a few things I had to ask for more information about, as they were things I was not familiar with. There are many things I would like to try, but I decided to get the Koshari on this visit as well. I love this veg friendly food, this one is great as it contains garbanzo beans which makes it very filling. I also really liked the additional sauces to add, the hot sauce and other liquid are quite tasty. We also tried the hummus and pita which was thicker than many hummuses we have tried, but still quite tasty. I do hope to go back here and try some other items. I also hope to find this booth set up at other local festivals. Thanks for bringing something different to the community.

The currys were piping hot and delicious. I've struggled to find great butter masala in Seattle, and taste of India's hit the mark! Not pictured, but their naans are huge. My husband and I each ordered naan, and the amount of rice, curry, and naan was the perfect amount for a full serving of leftovers. We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary samosa appetizers and chocolate torte dessert. Ultimately this place is fantastic and we look forward to coming back- would love to come on a summer evening and sit outside on their patio.

so, this place is pretty clearly, and almost objectively so, made exclusively for westerners…read more what i mean by that is that this place serves Indian food that will not attempt to challenge western palettes in any way - rather its goal is to have people walking out with a mildly positive attitude towards the food. if someone were to ask them how the food was, they will say that it's fine and say that indian food is an underrated cuisine. the first indication of this that caught my eye was on the menu, where it was listed that "all spice levels are American standard". The fact that this is on the menu at an *Indian restaurant* is pretty ridiculous, in my opinion. I'll get to the spice levels later The second indication was when the waiter brought out our naan, and said "Here's your naan bread". I almost laughed out loud at this point. Naan bread? Thank god we didn't order chai or he would've said "Here's your chai tea". when we actually got our food, it was as disappointing as I expected Despite the fact that I ordered the 'Hot' spice level (the second highest), this had utterly no spice at all. I know that I have a high spice tolerance, but you know it's not good when other people at my table who have a low tolerance cannot taste any spice whatsoever. I've had hotter dishes ordering the 'Hot' level at American restaurants! In addition to there not being any spice, there was pretty much no flavor at all to the curries. There was just no point to the gravy on both the Jaipuri "Masala" and the Vegetable Kofta, as it both cases it was quite bland and essentially tasted like nothing. The paneer and the kofta were ok - but nothing more than average. Again, the lack of any kind of flavor is just crazy. Our table also got the Biryani, which had decent vegetables but also suffered from a lack of flavor The roti and garlic naan that we got were really hard and difficult to break apart. not very good at all If you're Indian - do not come here - you'll get far better Indian food either a) at home or b) at another place If you're not Indian - I would highly recommend trying another place to actually get a taste of what Indian food is really like. This watered-down version simply isn't it. I would recommend Saffron Grill in Northgate for an example of Indian food done correctly on the positive side, one thing i appreciated about this menu is the customization available for different curries this is especially helpful when it relates to giving options to vegetarians, as it doesn't restrict people who are vegetarian to specific curry options having paneer, vegetables, and tofu options available for each curry is pretty good i also thought the spinach naan was pretty good. out of all the bread we ordered, it was the only naan that managed to be soft, and easy to pull apart the spinach inside tasted pretty good as well the complimentary samosas (although clearly reheated from frozen) and sweet at the end was a decent touch the portion sizes were also decent - the amount of rice that came with the curry was pretty significant

The place itself has decent seating and looks comfortable if you're dining in. Overall, the food was flavorful but the greasiness and portion size made my experience just okay.
