I drive by this place all the time. And I'm surprised I haven't gone in before. I'm a huge fan of Lebanese food. They bring out a plate of pita and molasses with spices for dipping. It was really tasty and hearty for dinner. I had the eggplant shaksuka, which is served cold. So if you're used to breakfast shakshuka, being served hot just in FYI portions are generous. The menu has so many good things that I can't wait to come back with a crowd of people. And try a whole bunch. The rose soda was the best that I've ever had. Nice restaurant and very popular among the neighborhood. During the dinner time, the place is packed during weeknight. We have three people and we order the mixed grilled. They are not cheap compared to city of Tampa same food. The mixed grilled protein has beef, lamb, shish tawook, chicken, and grilled vegetables. The marinated meat is there but not deep into the meat. The side dishes are very interesting and better than normal Mediterranean food. We got the Arambeet - fried cauliflower. This dish top with tahini and spices. Very tasty. The second side dish is the muhammara- grind red pepper, walnut, pomegranate. This is a good dip. The meal started with complimentary pita bread and an olive oil za'atar dip--such a nice touch! We ordered the mezze medley with five dips (spicy hummus, muhammara, baba ganouj, labneh, and falafel) plus a whole order of arambeet. It was more than enough food for the four of us, especially with some extra pita to soak up all the flavors. We even had leftovers to take home. I was able to stop by for dinner with some friends and we were pleased with the kind service and speed of the waitstaff. We ordered the hummus and babaghanouge to split for the table, which I found to be yummy and great for a group of 6. My only disappointment was with my chicken shawarma sandwich, the chicken was pretty dry and the wrap was more chewy than the table bread we were all sharing. On the brightside it was a pretty large portion for the price, but if I were to come back I'd stick with splitting the meatless options with friends or trying out the lamb and beef. read more

An easy 5 stars! I loved eveything about this place. My friend made the reservation a couple of days prior. We instantly got seated upon arrival. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Overall Vibe is relaxing and enjoyable. It was alsmot full and pretty crowded on Friday night. In my visit, where Tanoor takes a few knocks is we were seated right outside their event room which was very loud and made it difficult to hear my friend which I'll let go though! We shared labneh with pita, chicken kabob sandwich and shawarma combo. Labneh was YUM. Very flavorful and so were the main dishes. The sandwich is HUGE and very filling. The chicken is cooked extremely well and with right amount of spices. The food here is A1. This place set the pretty high standard for all other Mediterranean places I want to try, in this city. We decided to try Tanoor for dinner as it was walking distance from the hotel. They give you a lot of food and their food is more bland than rich. The food was fine. Their shish tawook was not as flavorful or lemony as the shish tawook we usually have at Mediterranean Kitchen in Kirkland. However, the servings were generous and the food was fresh. I did like their Babaghanouge and tabouleh. The service was friendly and we felt at home. It was a healthy meal with lots of leftovers. My favorite was the mint lemonade. We got the Mint Lemonade, it's a must have at Tanoor. We got the Lamb Shish Kabob, and Chicken Shawarma. For sides we got Hummus, and Stuffed Grape Leaves. We loved both the Lamb Shish Kabob, and Chicken Shawarma. The hummus and the stuffed grape leaves were great. By the time the main entree came out, we were almost too full to eat it. This place is so good! It's located in S LU and street parking is not too hard to find especially if you go toward the lake. I went here for dinner after work on a weekday and met up with a friend. There was basically no wait for a table, which was nice. We got the fries and Shawarma plate to share. Both dishes were super super tasty. I really like the sauces it came with. I also really like how this restaurant gives fresh warm soft and chewy pita bread. service was super nice and food came out quick. This would be a great place for groups. They have a lot of seating overall casual place to have lunch or dinner. It seems like a lot of the corporate employees hang out here after work. Tanoor was recommended by a fair few, and given lebanese cuisine is layered and full of flavors, it was a no-brainer to reserve a spot here. I didn't even have to order anything to know this was going to be a memorable meal, as our server promptly brought us out some of their amazing bread with the irresistible za'atar. It reminded me of the 'Samir' bread at Beit Rima in SF. Our thoughtful server brought out some gluten free bread for our friend too, and was very accommodating of him for his other menu choices as well. The muhammara is an excellent blend of dates, tomatoes and peppers, though I wouldn't be averse to it being less sweet to let the other flavors shine thru. Spicy hummus was excellent and if I lived in seattle, I'd be coming here often solo to just have a simple meal of the bread/za'atar/hummus, a timeless meal from area around the fertile crescent. Chicken, falafel and rice were excellent, a blend of white and yellow rice with some lentils sprinkled in, perfectly spiced, served with a generous side of tahini. It felt reminiscent of the homely indian dish of daal-chawal, unsurprising given the common influences in culture and language between the Indian subcontinent and those Arabic and Persian-speaking regions. Sounds like I've found my go to spot for whenever i'm in town, so many mezzes to try. read more

I just left the restaurant, and I am writing this review with the sincere hope that it reaches the owner, Fayyad. The interior of the restaurant is truly beautiful, and the decor is excellent. However, it is disheartening to see that the food quality does not match the effort put into the atmosphere or the high expectations of the community.The food does not taste like authentic Lebanese cuisine. Instead, it feels more like Mexican cooking, but it lacks authenticity because the chef is attempting to force it into a Lebanese profile. I always try to support local businesses, and my goal is simply to share constructive feedback so the owners can save this restaurant.My wife and I ordered the combo meal for 2-3 people. Was in town visiting and wanted to get lunch with a friend who worked in the area. Tanoor popped up in my Yelp search and since we all love Mediterranean food, we gave Tanoor a try! I made reservations and this is one of the few restaurants that actually had our table set and ready before we arrived. Tanoor is located on Dexter Ave in the middle of lots of businesses. We all found street parking mid-day with ease. We were seated right when we arrived, though the tables are close together and the booths a bit cramped. The menu is extensive and we decided to go with the family Madhawi (mixed grill plate) for 2-3 people cause it allowed us to sample some meats as well as 3 appetizers, which you could choose any mezze you liked. We also added the halloumi fries and the Arambeet (flash fried cauliflower) cause it looked so good online. *Halloumi Fries - they were long slabs of deep fried halloumi with a sweet sauce over them. It was good but also pretty filling. 4/5 *Flash Fried Cauliflower - served with tahini and spices on top. Exactly as expected. 4/5 *Hummus and Babaghanouge - the dips came with fresh hot pita.. the pitas are doughy. They came out hot but they weren't great. The dips were also very mediocre in flavors. 3/5 *Mixed Grill Plate - came with two types of rice/lentils underneath with veggies cooked into the dish. The mixed grill came with an assortment of meats. The meats were seasoned well though the temperature was a bit uneven. We asked for medium rare and lots of the pieces seemed raw, so they took it back and placed it on the grill a bit longer. The 2nd time everything came out really chewy and well done. I can't say I liked the meats very much after this experience 2/5. The ambiance was nice, with nice decor... the service was good.. the food was very subpar. There's many other Mediterranean places I would venture to before coming to Tanoor again. I can't say I absolutely loved my dishes. Portions are large though so good for large parties. My first time here and not only was the food amazing, but the customer service was exceptional! From the fresh and steaming hot pita to the delicious sides and the well seasoned Grilled Plate, everything was exceptional. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the chicken was surprisingly very juicy. I didn't eat the lamb but it was a big hit with my friends. Our server was on top of bringing us hot pita as soon as we ran out and our water stayed refilled. I love the classic decoration and the large layout of the restaurant, which can accommodate large parties. They also have a private prayer room. The place started to fill up at about 5pm, we got 4 appetizers to share, everything was amazing! They had delicious gluten free naan, and almost everything on the menu could be accommodated for celiacs. Our server was nice, we didn't get his name but he had earrings, and he was very soft spoken. We weren't checked in on very often, so when we wanted to leave it took a while to get someones attention, but that wasn't an issue because we had more time to clean our plates.
