There is a decent amount of Mediterranean restaurants here in Seattle that I have tried, and I'm sure you can go to any of them and get a decently sized meal that tastes good, but I'm here to say that thus far, Gorgeous George's is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle so far. We went to this restaurant around 7PM on a Saturday, and at first, the restaurant didn't look open for business. But George's wife spotted us checking the restaurant hours and welcomed us in! She mentioned that they had a huge catering order today and were closed due to catering so much. At first, she mentioned that take out orders would be OK, but then evolved into allowing for us to dine in! We were so grateful to even be allowed service given how busy and exhausted they were, so they definitely when above and beyond in terms of service. As other reviewers have mentioned, Gorgeous George feels like you are dining in a family's house, very cozy and everyone is so friendly, and of course, the food was freaking amazing! We ordered a couple of things, which I'll review down below: Babaghanouje ($11): Absolutely delicious! Amazing smokey flavor and a subtle tartness from the eggplant/lemon. Pleasing texture that is a blend of creamy and slightly fibrous that leaves you wanting more. Great with pita bread and toothsome on it's own too. One of the better babahanoujes that I have tried. Gorgeous George's Platter ($35): Wow! This is quite the treat - if you are feeling hungry, definitely give this platter a go. Everything from the kababs, rice, and a small hint of toum on the inside was delicious! The chicken was tender, and even reheating it a day later, it kept it's moisture, which is really difficult to do! Rice was soft and everything was cooked perfectly. Seasoning was great, you can taste the complex marination and aromatics like parsley and onion with every piece of meat! Baklava ($8): A very solid baklava, and generous with portioning too. Flakey and cripsy crust and a generous helping of chopped nuts with a good amount of syrup soaked in throughout. One of the better baklavas I've had here in Seattle. In addition to these things we ordered, they also included a lamb kabob, two drinks, and a hummus free of charge (assuming they wanted to clean out the kitchen for the day) - which they really didn't have to do! We were so stunned by the hospitality demonstrated by George and his wife that we left a really hefty tip in order to show our gratitude. My experience here at Gorgeous George's was so amazing - everything from the stellar service, scrumptious food, and cozy ambiance makes this one of the best restaurant experiences that I have had here in Seattle thus far. I would wholeheartedly recommend Gorgeous George's as it is definitely the type of restaurant that deserves everyone's business!

Ordered catering from Gorgeous George's for a graduation party (for about 20 people) and the spread was incredible! The food was incredibly delicious. Definitely a hit with the party and everyone kept coming back for more. George even included some extra dishes for our group, which was very kind. Service was great and the pick up was seamless. Will definitely be coming back to dine at this restaurant. 10/10 recommend!

    Falafal Platter

Delicious and made with love! If you have a craving for authentic Mediterranean food this is the best to bring home for dinner. Fantastic falafels and dolmades, best in the neighborhood and family who runs this together have such friendly service! Great place to take home a delicious meal for the family and they cater too! My partner and I brought home a falafel platter, a gyro platter, and hummus. Generous portions, gorgeous presentation, and so delicious you can't go wrong with George's for dinner!

Food was subpar and disappointing. Very pricey but if it had been tasty, no problem. Nickel and dime for everything.

I had to pick a place everyone would enjoy, and, ideally, somewhere we could actually get a reasonable-hour reservation. After a few rounds of back-and-forth, we settled on this place. It was a bit of a walk from our hotel, but no biggie. The restaurant itself is charming, and the hot, fresh pita breads coming out of the oven were a very good omen. The rest of our party arrived, and we were seated toward the back of the room. At first, I noticed a little door literally right next to our table and thought, "UGH, the bathroom is on top of us." Nope. It was a prayer room. So... fine. Then BAM, the bad news. We wanted to order cocktails, and they don't serve any alcohol. WHOOPS, my bad! But honestly, how often do you come across that scenario? A nice restaurant that takes reservations, has a full dinner menu, and serves absolutely no booze. I clearly missed that detail when I made the reservation. Fortunately, the food more than made up for my cocktail disappointment. It started with the fresh pita and some kind of crack oily/herby dip they served with it. If they sold this stuff by the bottle, I would have bought some. Seriously, it was unbelievable. I could have made a meal out of the bread and dip alone - and who is saying I didn't?. My man and I split a mixed meat platter. I honestly can't remember everything that was on it because I was trying to pay attention to getting to know the people I was about to spend 10 days cruising with. I do remember that everything was quite tasty, well roasted, and that the pork was my favorite. So, come for the food, the fresh pita, and that ridiculously addictive dip. Just know before you go: you will not be ordering a cocktail with dinner. But more good news, is that the bill without alcohol will be cheaper.

The host asked us to wait outside and said she would come get us when our table was ready. A family who was already waiting outside was called in shortly after, and we continued waiting. We saw several parties leave and many people come in and get seated right away, so we assumed they had reservations. After waiting about 25 minutes, we went back inside to check on our table. The host told us that we "didn't leave a phone number," even though we were never asked for one and were told to wait outside until she comes get us. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, she complimented my shirt mid-conversation, which felt like she was trying to brush it off. The entire time we were outside, we were the only people waiting, and we even saw her setting up the outside seating as the restaurant got busier. She never once checked in with us or said anything. The food was good, and our service once we were seated was great. Unfortunately, our first interaction with the host left a bad first impression and took away from the overall experience. That's why we're taking off two stars.

I arrived 20 minutes before opening and was first in line. One friend joined me 10 minutes later. At 5pm it was just the two of us, so I asked for a table for 4 and explained that I'd happily order food and drinks for everyone immediately, even though the rest of the group was still fighting the weekday traffic. The hostess refused, so we stepped aside. 2 minutes later our 3rd friend arrived. I asked the group behind us if they minded us getting back in line. They laughed and said it was no problem because they had just had their 3rd person arrive as well. When I got back in line, the hostess deliberately skipped over me and called the next group instead. After seating them, I stopped her and asked for a table for 3. She asked if it would "really" be just 3. At that point I honestly didn't know. Our 4th friend was driving from Everett and had texted that she was stuck in standstill traffic. I said yes, seat the 3 of us. The hostess told us to wait while she seated yet another group, taking the last indoor table. We were then placed outside on a hot day. Despite how the evening started, I did exactly what I'd said I would. We ordered dinner for the entire group, including 2 bottles of wine to avoid inconveniencing them with making drinks. Then, incredibly, the hostess came back to our table and removed the 4th chair to make absolutely sure our last friend couldn't join us if she arrived. It felt petty, unnecessary, and frankly embarrassing. What should have been a joyful reunion became a stressful experience because of one person's rigid and unwelcoming attitude. The food was equally inconsistent. The labneh was extremely sour and came with cold, slightly stale pita. The squid & lamb were overly salty. The kohlrabi with peaches was so aggressively smoky that we left almost the entire dish untouched. The mushrooms were fine. The grilled pork was excellent and easily the highlight of the meal. The cod was just okay, and the desserts were average. We spent ~$500 for the meal. People don't spend this kind of money just for the food. The price reflects the entire experience, and that's where this restaurant failed. The service felt cold, impersonal, and overly focused on rules instead of hospitality. Rather than making guests feel welcome, the hostess made us feel like a problem she had to manage. I've had warmer, friendlier service at fast food restaurants. I won't be returning, and I took the time to write this review because no meal, especially one marking such a meaningful reunion, should be overshadowed by such an unnecessarily unpleasant welcome.

The signature saj bread is cooked fresh on a hot stone and is almost like a Middle Eastern flour tortilla with the way it's super thin and satisfyingly chewy bite. The only seating options are a few large benches on the sidewalk, but there's a poster saying you're welcome to sit at the neighboring bar which opens in the late afternoon provided you purchase a drink as well. Ended up sampling 3 of their wrap options and the Zaatar Wrap was deliciously nutty and fragrant, but texturally there was so many herbs that the center ate a little dry. The Lahme Khuruf (Lamb) was my favorite by far with super juicy ground meat with some tang from the labneh, sweetness, freshness from the tomato, and texture from the pine nuts. Absolute home run on this one! The Awarma and Cheese was a close second, but personally, the flavor profile was just a little less interesting than the lamb. The saj bread itself tasted good, but got soaked through by the juice of the chicken and became very soggy. We walked to a park 10 minutes away to eat the wraps and the wraps were bending. The ingredients are fresh but nothing particularly stood out. I didn't quite taste the mushroom on the wrap, and on top of that, I got charged $2 for the hot sauce, but never tasted it in the wrap or found it on the side. My partner got the falafel saj wrap which was overall ddcent, but he also found the saj bread quite soggy, yet the falafels were on the dry side.
