We had an unpleasant experience with the host today. When my boyfriend and I arrived, we asked for a table for 2 and were told it would be ~ 10 minute wait. The host asked us to wait outside and said she would come get us when our table was ready. A family who was already waiting outside was called in shortly after, and we continued waiting. We saw several parties leave and many people come in and get seated right away, so we assumed they had reservations. After waiting about 25 minutes, we went back inside to check on our table. The host told us that we "didn't leave a phone number," even though we were never asked for one and were told to wait outside until she comes get us. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, she complimented my shirt mid-conversation, which felt like she was trying to brush it off. The entire time we were outside, we were the only people waiting, and we even saw her setting up the outside seating as the restaurant got busier. She never once checked in with us or said anything. The food was good, and our service once we were seated was great. Unfortunately, our first interaction with the host left a bad first impression and took away from the overall experience. Me and my friends were in search of a good brunch place in Seattle for one of our friend's birthday and came across Lola thru OpenTable. As we looked at the menu, we thought that the food choices were interesting and that it wasn't a typical american brunch offering. I was visiting Seattle over a holiday weekend, and we stopped by Lola for brunch. Most restaurants in the area were closed for the holiday, so we didn't have any high expectations, but we were very pleasantly surprised that this ended up being one of our favorite meals on our trip. I made a brunch reservation the night before and there were plenty of open time slots. It was a little busy but there were a couple of tables open. The service was very fast despite the holiday. We ordered the Lola breakfast and the eggs Benedict. The crispy potatoes that came with both meals were really good. The eggs were very fluffy and the sauce on the benedict was flavorful and lemony. Visited with a friend who made a brief trip to Seattle. We came for brunch on a weekend and made a reservation, so there was no wait but it was definitely crowded. I would definitely suggest making a reservation ahead of time if you can! For the food, I really liked the hash brown/falafel hybrid--super unique and really delicious! The server came up to greet us and make suggestions. We tried their grape leaves rice rolls, Bean Shakshuka, and pita bread dip with olive and figs. Everything was priced quite high and did not really hit the spot for me. I wasn't a big fan of the grape leaves rice rolls. Their pita bread with fig and olive dip was recommended by the server and was told you wouldn't taste the olive but olives were the only thing you could taste..and I am not a fan of olives :( The bean Shakshuka was probably the best. It came with 2 slices of toasted bread, a warm slightly mild tomato base, cheese, and beans. Pretty good! I also don't know why there is a door directly inside the hotel that leads to this restaurant inside, but they have a signage to go around .. meaning to go outside in the COLD OR SNOW (yes it was snowing at midnight) to enter the restaurant from their front door. If I'm staying at this hotel, it would be nice to have direct access to the restaurant inside. A few friends and I went out to Lola on a Saturday night. We made a reservation, which probably wasn't strictly needed with our arrival around 6 PM, but the restaurant was pretty full by the time we left. The overall vibe of the restaurant is great - very New York with just one long sitting area with the kitchen at the back basically. Our booth had a nice view of Virginia street. The food was good - the scallops and saganaki particularly stood out. My only complaint was the prices. We opted for skewers, but were quickly told that a side would be needed in order to feel full. While the Greek spaghetti was good, it was pretty basic for a $17 price tag, combined with a $21 cheese and fig fig skewer that only had a 6 or so pieces each of fig and cheese. Beer is also a little expensive for the area at $9 a pint. Overall nice and near a major bus arterial, but would likely only come back with out of town guests if showing them around downtown Seattle and we needed a fancy and conveniently located restaurant. read more

It was pretty good, especially for a vegan version. The star of the show was truly the dessert. We got the doughnuts and the hazelnut malted milk cremeaux. Both of them were incredible! It was busy for the holiday but service was still excellent. I dropped my napkin and one of the employees who was bussing tables went above and beyond to pick it up and get me a new one before I even noticed I dropped it! I have been wanting to try this place for so long and it took a really long time to actually get a reservation. You have to book in advance for brunch definitely. My friends and I ordered the Greek scramble, Octopus Hash, Kebab plate, and donuts to share. The Greek scramble was 10 out of 10. The eggs were delicious and the toast was perfectly cooked. I love how buttery it was too. We also got the potatoes on the side for both of our options and I would definitely recommend that - they're very crispy and flavorful. My friends also liked the other two options. I didn't get to try them because they were meat. The donuts were also good but they're just typical donuts. I would probably recommend going somewhere else for dessert across the street. There is a bakery with great cookies and dessert options. We've been here in the past. In fact, it's our favorite among the Tom Douglas restaurant empire. We were a group of 6, seated comfortably in a banquette in the middle of the room. This is a lively place, always filled with a lot of upscale looking customers. So the atmosphere is quite loud, but fun in a buzzing way. We were seated quickly, as we had reservations. Our server Charlie, was engaging, friendly and on top of things. We ordered the shared dips---olive tapenade, eggplant, hummus, tatziki with some warm pita triangles. They're all good and a fun way to start the dinner. We each had kebabs---lamb, chicken and mushroom. All good, moist and tender all poured with a jig of ouzo on a hot skillet. The onions in the bottom get browned and crusty, so good to eat. One had a lamb burger which looked juicy and served with delicious mound of fries sprinkled with rosemary. My husband and I shared the doughnuts, I had the gravlax, and he had the Lola breakfast. The doughnuts are fluffy and warm, the gravlax was generously portioned, and the fried potatoes and breakfast sausage are truly unique to Lola in the most delicious way. Their espresso was not good though- it somehow both lacked flavor and was too bitter? I could not get myself to drink that ounce-and-a-half of espresso, even with a sugar cube. And I am not a coffee connoisseur. Even for Seattle standards, it was a pricey meal. The three dishes and an espresso came out to almost $75. We were staying not too far from here and asked for a fun place for breakfast. Everyone recommended Lola. That was a smart move. Very comforting atmosphere here. We were brought to our seat immediately and our server came right over to bring water and menus. Both myself and my wife seem to order the same thing all the time. I am two over easy with link sausages and she is two very well (kill them) with well done bacon. They did a nice job here that everything was extremely tasty and FRESH. Nice clean tasty eggs and sausage and bacon that defiantly did not come out of the freezer. It's funny how you can taste freshness. Their breads are clearly of a homemade style and they have their own homemade jams. Compared to that, even a standard Starbucks drip coffee would feel like a better value for money. Came here in a group of ten and had a great time! Beautiful restaurant on a corner in Seattle! Half of us shared the dip spread with pita and we loved it! The tzatziki and the blue cheese - feta kopanisti were favorites. We had to order two extra sides of pita ($6 each) to finish all of the dip. Would recommend! We also tried the lamb, sockeye, chicken, and pork kebabs. I loved the sauce on the chicken and the sockeye was yummy! I didn't get to try the lamb or pork but everyone said the sauces were pretty sweet, and they were good! The rosemary fries were also pretty good as well. For drinks, we had the hugo's boss, vinho verde, west of Eden, espresso martini, no vacancy, and limoncello spritz! They were all yummy but the vinho verde and espresso martini stuck out to us! The limoncello was a but sweeter than expected and the hugo's boss was a touch too cucumbery but they were still finished. Our server was not very attentive, she never asked if we were enjoying our food and wasn't super warm but we did have a large party and the restaurant was loud so it didn't really take away from the dinner. Overall I would definitely come back and recommend it. It's pretty spendy but great if you are not worried about money or are looking for a spot for a special occasion! We ordered 4 things: Octopus Hash, House Made Gravlax, Smashed Garlic Potatoes, and Made to Order Doughnuts. My partner and I agreed that the best dish was the gravlax. Essentially a deconstructed lox bagel (instead of bagel it's rye toast), the fish was sooooo good. The cream cheese is chive, and it added an extra touch to the dish. Seattle salmon never disappoints! The octopus hash was good, but my partner said it was a bit one dimensional. Some pieces of the octopus were a bit rubbery, but overall a solid dish. The potatoes were very crispy and you could definitely taste the garlic. A very solid side dish! The server shook the doughnuts in a bag with cinnamon sugar table side, and I really liked the combo of the jam and cream together with the doughnuts. I started with a Bloody Mary (called a Lola Mary, $18), another had a Ginger Mint Spritzer ($9). We ordered the Lola breakfast ($25), comprised of two eggs, smashed garlic fried potatoes, maple pork sausage, and toast, the Greek Scramble ($23), consisting of scrambled eggs, roasted asparagus, red peppers, and Kasseri cheese with the garlic smashed potatoes and toast, and Eggs Benedict ($27) with garlic smashed potatoes. This was mine and there was so much sliced ham piled onto the English muffin that it was too much for me. I ended up removing much of the ham as it overpowered the delicate lemon Hollandaise sauce. The dip selections and freshly baked pita were awesome. The dessert on the restaurant week menu of the profiteroles was a disappointment though, more like soft churros with honey. Absolutely love this place. The environment is super cute. We originally had reservations for 930am but we got there an hour early and the hostess was willing to seat us. So nice! Tony was our waiter. And he was fabulous. I loved his energy. He had some awesome sheep earrings on and we started chatting about all the fun stuff there is to do in Seattle. It was super kind of him to give me recommendations since I'm just visiting. The food was wonderful. My friend ordered their octopus plate - I had a bite and it was very well seasoned. SOOOO GOOD. I got the Lola plate because I'm a traditional girl. But tony suggested half bacon and half pork when I couldn't decide between the two. And let me tell you - that is the way to go!!! The pork was sweet and salty and actually reminded me of some old traditional Vietnamese dishes that my mom used to make. It was nice to have that memory come back. My friend got the coffee and commented on how he loved that he had his own coffee pitcher. Overall - it was wonderful. We ended up chatting for 3 hours and no one threw us out. It's definitely a bit pricy, so it's a Fancy Date Night kind of spot, but the food was delicious, the cocktails were thoughtful and well crafted, and the service was impeccable. We started with the friend squid which was very good, and had a light batter on it with chili flakes. It came out second, after our kebab plate though, which was interesting. The kebabs were seriously delicious but they alone cost over $60 for 3 different kebabs. I don't know if I would really order that again, which is a shame because the date and paneer kebab was heaven. We ended up getting mains as well... The bean shakshuka and halibut. Both were very good and truly unique. The wine list is also worth mentioning as they had a number of Greek wines available by the glass. It was a $200 dinner for two. Would I go again? Heck yeah.
