    Halloumi grilled cheese
    Jason K.

My wife and I visited on our way to the Elysian Brewery, getting some food before sampling beers. The staff were very friendly to us and other patrons while ordering and waiting for food to be prepared. There are a few small benches just outside the restaurant to sit on if dining there. I ordered the falafel saj, my wife got the halloumi grilled cheese, and we shared a side of the Egyptian hot sauce and fermented chili paste. The halloumi grilled cheese was nice and salty, but a little pricey for the portion. The falafel wrap, on the other hand, was fantastic and a great value. The food was excellent, and I would definitely recommend it.

Nice take out window to grab a quick wrap. It's basically $20 after tax and tip for a wrap but i guess 1) it is a pretty hefty wrap and 2) it's seattle. So I think it's rational enough that they have to charge that. For the wrap itself it was piping warm when we got them and that first bite into it was so satisfying. I got the lahme khuruf (lamb) and labneh wrap and I love how if was spiced and flavored. Super juicy, super flavorful.

I have been here a couple of times and very pleased. This is kind of a small place where they serve outside the door, but they create really delicious food. This time I had the hummus and the Haloumi grilled cheese. No surprise the hummus is really great. I think it may be thinner that what most are used to, but has great flavor. Then it can be hard to elevate grilled cheese, but that fresh saj bread does this. Very simple and delicious. Definitely worth a visit, from past visits chicken is great also.

Finally tried Yalla after hearing so many rave reviews--and it absolutely lived up to the hype! The setup here is simple and efficient: you order at a walk-up window, then enjoy your meal outside or take it to-go if you'd rather explore the neighborhood. Pro tip: The staff suggested grabbing a drink at Montana, the bar next door, where you can also sit and savor your Yalla meal. I tried the Chicken Saj Wrap and the lahme khuruf (lamb) & labneh wrap. Both were delicious. It was my first time trying a Saj, and for the uninitiated it is like a burrito. The chicken one had minty flavor whereas the lamb one had a texture like that of ground beef with some sweetness from the pomegranate molasses. Also tried the Egyptian chili paste - very oily but so good for dipping the saj if you dare to have spicy food. Yalla, what are you waiting for?!

Best falafel I've had in 2025! Made to order and with spice and crunch! I love the thin wrap so not too heavy and the falafel wrap is very generous and filling without too greasy or heavy. Others will have to live upto this one, sorry.

Yalla is a great place for quick, late night Mediterranean eats. It's a window you order at and sit outside to eat, so just putting the knowledge out there. I went a little late so being on the street was a bit scary and dark. I would recommend taking your order to go. I think if you order ahead while walking there that is the best way to order. I waited like 10 minutes for the food and it was well worth it. There is ALOT on the menu, so I asked the waiter what was good for pescatarians and he said the falafel wrap. The waiter was very hospitable which is something we love to see! Now for the food, the wrap I got had so much flavor. Everything complimented everything else and the falafel itself was top notch. The only reason why I'm docking stars is because I got a bit of a tummy ache after eating it. I'm thinking it's because I'm really sensitive to meat cross contamination. If you are a vegetarian, consider asking them to be extra careful.

This take out Palestinian restraunt hit the spot and is definitely worth stopping by. The bread is chewy and crispy at the same time. It works well with both fillings without covering up any of the flavors. The mix of the beets falafel and veggies played nicely together and the eggplant was well seasoned. The cost was very reasonable for what your getting. She was really nice and the food came within 5 minutes or so which is really fast. We were expecting to wait for a while but ended up being way early to our next appointment instead. Overall a great place!

True rating would be 2.5 but I decided to round up. I wanted so much to love this place. But I was honestly so unhappy with my wrap. I got a zaatar and cheese wrap (should've taken photos but I was probably just too shocked!). It was extremely oily which I'm hoping is just a one off. I literally feel bloated and nauseous till now because of how oily the Saj was. It killed all flavors. The saj bread itself is delicious though. So many friends recommended this place, so I'm assuming someone accidentally added way too much oil in my saj? Like it was soggy, and my wrap was leaking of oil...husband got the eggplant with labneh wrap which was OK. I'm not sure I'd come back though honestly.

My husband is Egyptian and has some high standards for wraps like this, and his standards are rarely met in Sab Francisco. We stopped here on the way through Seattle and ordered two saj- one chicken and one eggplant and lebneh. We were blown away! The ingredients are fresh and we'll prepared. My husband couldn't stop raving about how they did the chicken just right (save for the absence of pickled cucumber). We also ordered a side of falafel and loved that they were freshly fried to order. Probably some of the best falafel we've had. Lastly, we loved Yalla Seattle for it's anti apartheid and anti genocide stance! We love supporting businesses that are against genocide

Service was friendly and patient as we tried to make decisions and asked questions. I have a friend that kind handle chile spice due to medical condition they were very accommodating when it was needed by having certain sauces on the side. We shared a number of dishes and two bottles of wine. We started with the Hummus bil Lahm ou Snobar, my favorite dish of the evening a hummus with bubbling spiced lamb. Baba Ghanouj, Bisara Munir, Arnabeet, Alhalaioun and the chicken and beef Shish Taouk. Everything was delicious. Flavorful, the proteins were cooked perfectly nice and tender. One of our friends likes meat a lot and hadn't cause he thought it was a vegetarian restaurant. We had to have the green chile sauce on the side of the asparagus dish cause of my friend but that was ok we were putting it in other items we loved it so much. Also the whipped garlic that came with the chicken and beef was a big hit! We had never had Lebanese wine and enjoyed our selections. Love that it felt like a healthier meal with the vegetables and spreads. Didn't feel stuffed after but definitely satisfied. They even comped dessert for my friends birthday which I believe was an orange rose water pudding. Welcoming warm space. Parking is fairly easy on a Tuesday night. Looking forward to visiting again

Both were very flavorful and well balanced. Love the different textures. The roasted broccoli was OK, it was on the less cooked side The entree skewers were pretty good too. Shoutout to the kind service that let me combine and do half beef and half chicken because at the point I was too full from all the appetizers I ordered but still wanted to try both. One thing I really loved about the skewer is the sauces that came on the side: one tahini, one garlic, and one tomato. Such delicious sauces! Entrees were a little pricey though. Last but not least my party enjoyed the special Lebanese wine.

On one super rainy day, my partner and I were walking by and spontaneously decided to go up to the little window and get one lamb gyro the guy at the window, who I didn't know was the owner, looked at us weird and at first I was like ???? but after 5 min of prepping our order he calls us back to the window and hands us TWO gyros and says "you can't just get one! there are two of you! you won't feel full!" and he hands us both, one on the house I was so shocked it was so kind and unexpected of him. We ended up eating outside right under the window and 2 min later the owner walks out with a slice of bread and starts feeding the ducks outside the store. He told us that they're a couple and that they come by every year to lay eggs and they visit him every night for dinner during this time. He also told us that Cedars of Lebanon has been open for over 40 years and that it used to be so rowdy and exciting. So many people would gather around and spend time in his restaurant but now it's a lot quieter (I'm assuming this is because new, more novel places have been popping up on the Ave). I left this conversation so touched and full of love for this man, I genuinely wish him the best. His unprompted kindness towards a complete stranger and willingness to spend time chatting with us alone makes this place 5 stars for me, so many places lack this kind of passion and love that we could really use more of. this happened almost a year ago but I wanted to share my experience to highlight how wonderful of a man the owner is, hopefully we can continue to have nice things and no one abuses his kindness anyway I wanna go back and try their falafel apparently it's super good

Falafel was also fresh and cone shaped, made into that shape using an interesting stamp-like tool. Price was right too--the gyro sandwich and 2 falafel to go was only just over $13! Service was slow ngl, however, the old couple running the place were sooo cute I can excuse it. They were so friendly, warm, and nice; it gave off auntie and uncle vibes. Another customer in front of me must've been a regular because when the customer made conversation at the takeout window, I heard one of the workers go "We love you, John!!!" Only ordered from the to go window so cannot speak to the ambiance inside.
