I had the chance to try this place during a kids' event they hosted, and it was my first time visiting. Honestly, coming from the Middle East, I was really impressed with the food. Their chicken garlic shawarma was so flavorful, and the falafel was crispy, fresh, and actually bigger than what most places serve around Seattle -- and thankfully not burnt lol like I've experienced in so many spots here. The tabbouleh was fresh and good, although the flavor was a little different from what I'm personally used to. I also tried their cheese croissant and omg... I completely fell in love with it. It was so light and airy that I ended up eating two! Not the super buttery heavy croissant style we usually see. This one had a sprinkle of zaatar on top and it was amazing. I don't think it's on their regular menu, but I highly recommend they add it soon because it deserves a permanent spot. Based on all the reviews, I ordered the following for pickup: 1) Grilled Garlic Chicken Bowl 2) Tahini Beef Kufta Sandwich 3) Hummus Mezze PROS - The best saffron rice I have ever had, it was fragrant, buttery and full of flavor. The hummus was also unique; it had almonds and a very different texture than the traditional hummus. It's more creamy and dense. CONS - Unfortunately, the chicken is the driest chicken I have ever had. Some pieces were burnt and some pieces were just dry and chewy at the same time. The beef was also dry and for some reason, had pieces of chicken in the sandwich - which would have been a wonderful surprise if the beef and chicken wasn't so dry to begin with. In hindsight, maybe I should have asked for a side of garlic sauce but I don't think that would have helped with the unfortunate dry protein. For reference, I ordered on a Sunday evening so maybe it was a new chef or something? I also had to wait an extra 10 mins for my scheduled takeaway order because the cashier seemed new and there was only one person in the kitchen. The food at Hamsa is excellent. Their chicken is high quality and delicious, bursting with lemon and spice from their marinade. Their fries appear to be hand cut, skin-on and made in house (just going by their look). Their tabbouli is fresh and hits the correct balance of mostly greens to a small amount of bulgur. Even their falafel has a good flavor and texture. Their coffee drinks are also great, and I appreciate being able to adjust the sweetness level. The main problem I have is that I find them overpriced for the small portions they offer. Their chicken sandwich is a lavash with sparse filling; a lot of bread wrapped around itself. It is $17 and doesn't come with any sides, just a slice of cucumber, tomato, and pickle as garnish. Doesn't even come with extra sauce (it isn't needed; just trying to think of a way to justify the price for such a small sandwich). Fries are $5 but come with less than half a small box full. The $6 tiny plastic box of tabbouli had lettuce leaves underneath to take up space. Again, I believe this is some of the best Palestinian/Lebanese food around, no doubt. But because it feels like too little for the price, we will restrict how often we visit. But I urge you to try it and make up your own mind! read more

I stopped by on a Tuesday for lunch. Street parking was easy to find. Upon entry, I was greeted immediately. Service was very friendly. The cafe was clean, well-lit, and inviting. The space wasn't too big, but there were a few empty tables. I decided to order the grilled garlic chicken bowl with half rice and half salad. In addition to the rice and salad, the bowl also consisted of white chicken meat and garlic sauce. It was so delicious! The chicken was marinated and cooked perfectly. The rice was aromatic and tasty. The salad had just the right amount of dressing. To drink, I ordered the mint lemonade with 50% sweetness which was refreshing. Went here after a run with friends for coffee. They graciously opened an hour early for our group. I was hungry so I got the cauliflower falafel and hummus. We had heard good things about Hamsa. I love middle eastern food so it was an easy choice for where to eat dinner yesterday evening. Their menu is not particularly extensive. Instead of shawarma, they serve grilled garlic... Prices are reasonable. We had the hummus, grilled cauliflower and falafel brunch and the grilled chicken bowl that came with salad and hummus. Both were good, if not memorable. My issue with Hamsa is simply that the ambiance there is lacking. It's a small place with white decor. For lunch this won't be a problem. I could return if I was in the area and was looking for something to eat at noon. However it's not a place I want to be for dinner. On the other hand, if you mainly just want something to eat, do go try Hamsa anytime. You won't be disappointed. read more

Hamsa is a new spot on the main 45th St drag in Wallingford that is a café serving delicious middle Eastern food alongside great coffee drinks. With its large windows and sky blue décor, the small space feels light and airy. Tried a couple of items on the menu - the falafel was honestly one of the best versions I have had in awhile. Its fried in avocado oil and was perfectly fried without being heavy or greasy in the least bit. The Za'atar, akawi and labneh sandwich was also very good, and it was my first time trying akawi, a brined cheese with a softer texture than halloumi. I had both sandwiches with a thin lavash bread which made it very easy to eat without making a mess. Nice selection of coffee drinks including a few with middle eastern twists as well as interesting soda choices too (ended up with a clear Turkish one that tasted like Dr. Pepper!).
