Came in around 7:15 on a Wednesday with a party of three. There was ample free street parking in surrounding side streets. They didn't seem too busy at the time but I was asked for a reservation and the host mentioned that most of the tables were full. She was very nice though, put us by an open door but checked to make sure it was ok, asked if we'd want it closed, etc. We took a while to get our orders in, but opted for 5 mezzes including the hummus balila, beets and lebneh, muhammara, rikitat bil lahm, and arayess bi jibneh. We also got a lamb kifta. The stand outs to me were the lamb kifta and the arayess bi jibneh. Everything else was quite solid, and our least favorite was the rikikat bil lahm, as I found the lamb a bit dry. The servers were very attentive, restocked us with bread throughout the meal as we needed it. Next time I'm definitely interested in trying some of their eggplant!

Came here for dinner after making a reservation, which I recommend since they tend to be crowded especially on weekends I've heard. The service was pretty good, although we did have to request more flatbread by going up to them at one point. Overall the food was really good! We started with 3 of the dips to share between 4 people. Honestly they were quite filling! We tried the muhummara, a beet dip, and a hummus with buttery lamb! They also offer a wine menu and some liquors to drink. Next we had the chicken skewers and the lamb kabobs. Both were excellent and came with some yummy sauces too! The ambiance was very cozy and had a nice family feel to it. This is a cute local spot that is tucked away in north Ballard. Hope to come here again soon!

Lots of small plates and meat options. I recommend getting a few small plates and one or two meats. The chicken was a little dry/burnt, but we dunked in hummus and it was still good. The grilled cauliflower was amazing!!

Out of this world. Highly recommend the pear and pomegranate dish, as well as the philo lamb-filled and sugar dusted cigars. Delicious milk orange blossom pudding and baklava too. Also loved the Palestinian white wine we tried. Reasonable portions. Relaxing interior. Simply gorgeous, will definitely be coming back.

This place was highly recommended by my friends, and I'm glad I tried it. We came on a Friday night and were lucky to snag the last table. I would highly recommend making a reservation as it was pretty busy. The ambience is simple and homely. They have a large selection of mezzes and few main courses, it's more of a family style place. We started off with the lamb hummus, green beans and cauliflower. The bubbling lamb hummus was definitely the highlight. Both our veggie dishes were fresh and flavorful. We got the shish touk as our main, which was a little dry and underwhelming compared to the appetizers. I would probably skip the main and try out more of their sharing plates instead.

Normally don't leave a review at spots but first time I wanted to try them, they're closed! I came on a Saturday at 6:30 in the evening, no holiday, no inclement weather. Most importantly, no staff :(

Lebanese share plates with a homey authentic feel. Everything is so fresh!!! Tables are small and close, which I honestly loved it more for that reason, but just something to keep in mind if you're hard of hearing bc gets a little loud in there. Plenty of vegetarian and meat options alike, fun if you like to eat and swap // dine community style. The hummus balila (topped with crispy chickpeas) was definitely a highlight. It comes with plenty of pita so in retrospect didn't need to order the Arabic bread. The cauliflower was also stellar in flavor and texture! Green beans were plentiful, they come out cold fyi! No desserts the day we went (idk if that's the norm rn) but hopeful for next time, bc there will be a next time fosho

Cute ambiance. However the food is not authentic and is overpriced. Needs more salt and lemon in everything!

Probably my favorite restaurant in Seattle. Delicious, casually stylish, totally special.

Yalla Seattle - Soujouk (Beef) and Cheese Wrap - $16

Yalla Seattle

(210 reviews)

Capitol Hill

The batinjan (eggplant) and labneh wrap here has now taken its place in my pantheon of best…read moreeggplant bites I've ever had. Yalla is a walk up window, and there are just a couple of benches right outside where you can eat, and according to other reviews you can also go to Montana Bar next door with your food. The menu is posted in a couple places right next to the ordering window, and it's pretty easy to parse. Almost everything there is what I'd consider a "portable food", meaning something you don't need a plate, fork, and knife to eat, which makes sense given that it's not a sit down restaurant. They have veggie saj, meaty saj, mezze, a few sides, and a dessert. I really like their concise menu. We tried the baba ghanoush ($9.5), which comes with saj on the side, a batinjan and labneh saj wrap ($12), and a halloumi grilled cheese (halloumi grilled inside saj, $13). As you can tell, the saj underpins everything at Yalla, and their saj is excellent. Warm, soft, flaky, and tearable, it is perfect for both dipping and wrapping and grilling. The batinjan and labneh wrap is bursting (literally) with tender grilled eggplant, a rich sauce, and tangy, creamy labneh. It is truly one of the most delicious eggplant dishes I've ever had. The halloumi grilled cheese definitely hits the spot, and is more filling than you think by looking at it. Baba ghanoush is so smooth and flavorful, and I love the pomegranate seeds on top! The folks who work there are super nice, very friendly, and food comes out quickly. Prices are very reasonable, and I will definitely be back to try some of their meaty saj! This place is going into my regular rotation, for sure.

From looking at the menu, I haven't seen too many of the items listed offered here in Seattle. This…read morewas exciting to me as I enjoy food from the Middle Eastern part of the world, and the entrees do look very enticing! We went on a Saturday around 2pm and it wasn't too busy at the takeout window. The restaurant is only takeout - there are benches right next to the takeout window, but there are only enough spots for 8 - 12 people (2-3 people per bench). The only other seating is at the nearby street seating offered by the neighboring bars, which I can see being restricted during peak hours. Parking can be very difficult if you plan on driving, there is only street side parking that is usually full, and nearby paid parking in lots. Service is fast, after we got our order, we only waited 5-8 minutes for our food. We got their recommended Soujouk (Beef) and Cheese Wrap for $16. The wrap is long, I would say about 13 - 14 inches long, and I can definitely seeing most people getting full after enjoying one of these. The flavors are nice and you can taste the spices from the sausage - I could taste cinnamon front and center with other earthy spices lingering in an aftertaste. The wrap is very decadent, the cheese is hearty and indulgent and that with the spiced sausage and textural difference with the cucumbers is pleasing. Do note with how indulgent this wrap is, you will accumulate a ton of oil in your wrapper as you enjoy it - a nap afterwards is in your future if you eat a whole wrap! I think that Yalla Seattle is a good stop to try these cuisines in a casual manner and the price is reasonable. There are some other items on the menu that kept my attention and I would totally revisit to try the other items offered by this restaurant.

Falafel was also fresh and cone shaped, made into that shape using an interesting stamp-like tool. Price was right too--the gyro sandwich and 2 falafel to go was only just over $13! Service was slow ngl, however, the old couple running the place were sooo cute I can excuse it. They were so friendly, warm, and nice; it gave off auntie and uncle vibes. Another customer in front of me must've been a regular because when the customer made conversation at the takeout window, I heard one of the workers go "We love you, John!!!" Only ordered from the to go window so cannot speak to the ambiance inside.

On one super rainy day, my partner and I were walking by and spontaneously decided to go up to the little window and get one lamb gyro the guy at the window, who I didn't know was the owner, looked at us weird and at first I was like ???? but after 5 min of prepping our order he calls us back to the window and hands us TWO gyros and says "you can't just get one! there are two of you! you won't feel full!" and he hands us both, one on the house I was so shocked it was so kind and unexpected of him. We ended up eating outside right under the window and 2 min later the owner walks out with a slice of bread and starts feeding the ducks outside the store. He told us that they're a couple and that they come by every year to lay eggs and they visit him every night for dinner during this time. He also told us that Cedars of Lebanon has been open for over 40 years and that it used to be so rowdy and exciting. So many people would gather around and spend time in his restaurant but now it's a lot quieter (I'm assuming this is because new, more novel places have been popping up on the Ave). I left this conversation so touched and full of love for this man, I genuinely wish him the best. His unprompted kindness towards a complete stranger and willingness to spend time chatting with us alone makes this place 5 stars for me, so many places lack this kind of passion and love that we could really use more of. this happened almost a year ago but I wanted to share my experience to highlight how wonderful of a man the owner is, hopefully we can continue to have nice things and no one abuses his kindness anyway I wanna go back and try their falafel apparently it's super good
