Din Tai Fung at U Village is easily the most popular spot in the entire shopping center, and for good reason. Whether it's a rainy Seattle Tuesday or a sunny Saturday, this place is consistently buzzing. It's my absolute favorite spot to refuel after a long day of shopping or wandering around the UW campus. The Essentials: * The OG Pork Xiao Long Bao: You simply cannot come here without getting these. They are the gold standard of soup dumplings in the PNW. Each one is a perfect little explosion of savory broth. * Spicy Shrimp & Pork Wontons: This is a cult favorite. The chili oil sauce is legendary--I always order a side of Noodles with Minced Pork or Fried Rice just to soak up every last drop of that sauce. * Sautéed String Beans with Garlic: Seriously, how do they make green beans taste this addictive? They have that perfect "snap" and are loaded with savory garlic bits. The U Village Vibe: The space is beautiful--high ceilings, modern decor, and that iconic glass-walled kitchen where you can watch the "dumpling masters" at work. Even though it's always packed, the service is incredibly efficient. It feels like a well-oiled machine. Pro-Tips for Seattle Locals: 1. The Waitlist Strategy: This location easily gets a 90-120 minute wait during peak hours. Check in on the Yelp app before you even arrive. You can walk around Amazon Books or grab a coffee at Zoka while you wait for your text. 2. Parking: U Village parking is a labyrinth. Save yourself the headache and head straight for the North Parking Garage (near the Apple Store)--it usually has more turnover than the surface lots. 3. The Bar: If you're a party of 1 or 2, try to snag a seat at the bar. You get the full menu with way less wait time! Still the best dumplings in Seattle. Period. I love the food here at Din Tai Fung. It's always a battle choosing between xiao long bao, spicy wontons, Shanghai rice cakes, potstickers, or green beans... so we usually get it all. This particular experience, we had the worst service we have had at this establishment. We made a reservation at 5:45. Upon checking in, they asked if we were all here. We answered yes. We waited outside per their instructions for 5-10 more mins and got called back to the podium just for them to ask again if we were all here. Again, we said yes. We finally got seated around 5:55. We submitted our menu right away as we had filled it out during our wait. Our table ordered a beer, margarita, and sea salt jasmine green tea. The alcohol came out quickly but my jasmine tea took forever, it didn't come out until 3-4 dishes in. We also had to wait 5-10 minutes between our 2nd and 3rd dish. When we were done with our main items, we told our server we were ready for dessert. We had ordered chocolate and mochi xiao long bao with the initial order. Again, we had to wait around 15 min for our dessert. We were about to cancel it when it finally arrived, and the mochi part was underwhelming. It was pretty packed as the servers were running around, but there were also 4-5 staff at all times just standing around with their iPads. For an establishment that is considered higher end and us ordering 10 dishes ($200 worth of food!) between 3 people, service should be quicker and more attentive. At least the food is always consistent.

Did I come here after going to Dough Zone because I wanted dessert? Yes..., guilt as charged. We walked in on a Monday night and got a table for two near the bar really easily, which was great for drinks. We got a lychee martini, which is classic and of course, for dessert we got the chocolate XLB, the chocolate buns and the sea salt cream to go with it. Everything was delicious as usual and really good worth the extra trip.

I don't generally review big chains, but I am quite fond of Din Tai Fung. As a picky eater I have always feared venturing outside the box. I don't like veggies, and am a total food wimp. Even so, I am able to find a lot of "Erica safe" options at DTF. My favorites: Chicken Fried Noodles, Xiao Long Bao (Chicken), Chicken Spicy Wontons, Chicken Dumplings, and Kurobuta Pork Buns. My husband and mother ordered the pork chop fried rice the last time we went. The pork chop was delicious! (They loved the fried rice!) It all hits the spot every time! I am a huge fan of Din Tai Fung!

Oh my! What a wonderful culinary experience. A group of us descended upon Din Tai Fung after a film at the Pacific Place AMC tonight. We sampled a variety of delectables to enjoy family style. To begin, we were each served a tiny plate (palate cleanser) of pickled ginger. My faves? Xiao Long Bao (the renowned soup dumplings) and the String Beans with Garlic. Dessert? Yes, please! Try the amazing Chocolate and Mochi XLB and the Red Bean Buns. The service was attentive, helpful, and friendly. Tip: if you happen to be a bit hard of hearing, or value hearing your dining companions, request the semi-private dining area. I wish they'd lose the mega televisions up front, but that's a pipe dream.

I finally had the opportunity to try Din Tai Fung and it was delicious. I went with a large group of 15+ people and this location was able to accommodate us. This location is within walking distance of the Seattle Convention center. We shared so many tasty dishes, but my favorite were easily the soup dumplings and the chocolate dessert dumplings. you can't go wrong ordering here, everything was great!

We were waiting two plus hours for our table but the host was able to get us in before we hit the 3 hour mark thankfully! The dumplings and noodles here were delicious. Highly recommend trying the spicy noodles and soup dumplings. The Shanghai rice cakes were good but needed more flavor. We also got the plum sake and it was nice and sweet. The spicy chicken wontons are tangy with a hint of spice. Tbh, the spice levels weren't super spicy. The service was quick and we got our food within 15 minutes. We'll definitely be back!!

Unless you've been living under a rock, Din Tai Fung is a world-renowned Taiwanese restaurant staple known for their handmade soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao). My other favorite dishes are their Shrimp Fried Rice, Green String Beans with Garlic, and Spicy Wontons. I don't think I've ever been to a DTF that didn't have long lines and the dining rooms weren't packed with diners because the food really tastes that good, is reliable, and exceptional in quality. I'm not sure about all their locations, but I was able to make a reservation for my group of 3 people at their University Village restaurant in Seattle. A plus of this location is the ample parking in their adjacent parking structure and surrounding parking lots. Plus, you can do some shopping or window-shopping while you wait for them to call you when your table is ready. If you're craving Asian food and don't mind the hustle and bustle of a busy restaurant, go to Din Tai Fung and see what all the hype and fuss is about for yourself!

Din Tai Fung 鼎泰豐 always delivers that perfect mix of fun, flavor, and comfort. The xiao long bao are delicate and juicy, the noodles are super satisfying, and everything comes out fresh and beautifully made. Service is smooth even when it's busy, and the whole experience feels polished but still cozy. A go‑to spot whenever you're craving something reliably delicious and a little bit special. Our server Daniel was always attentive too!

The food was amazin! We ordered pork and chicken dumplings, bao buns, cucumber salad, and chicken fried rice. Excellent portions and the service was great. The restaurant is beautiful and very friendly staff.

You always know what you're gunna get at DTF--good food, albeit at a fairly higher price (especially if you wanna get full lol). Got the typical things e.g. string beans, cucumber salad, soup dumplings, spicy wontons, Shanghai rice cakes, etc.. but this time we also tried their new mango shave ice dessert! Although we all liked their chocolate mochi better, we also all agreed the mango shave ice was pretty good + a great palette cleanser. Go chance it yall

The past ten or so times I have been the pork has not had the same chewy pieces it used to so glad!! It is back to my favorite restaurant! I also love the Black Beef Tenderloin now! I just wish the pieces of beef were smaller and more uniform.

Cucumber Salad
Elizabeth P.

We had a Friday dinner reservation at 5pm, and the place was already packed! Definitely recommend making a reservation especially if you're coming during the weekend or dinner times. We ordered the Cucumber Salad, Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao, Braised Beef Noodle Soup, and Pork Chop Fried Rice. The cucumber salad is one of favorites- so refreshing and delicious appetizer. Everything was pretty solid, but my favorites were definitely the Xiao Long Bao and the Pork Chop Fried Rice. The dumplings were delicate and juicy, and the pork chop was flavorful with great texture. Service was friendly and efficient even with the dinner rush, and the atmosphere was lively but still comfortable. Overall, a great experience! Delicious food, good portions, and solid service. It's a reliable spot and recommend if you're craving yummy dumplings and comfort food!

Can I check my reservation on line?

Hello Judy, You can check your reservation online through Yelp under the “Upcoming Reservations”… Read more

Gift certificates-are they available?

They are, you can buy at the restaurant or online

How do I cancel my reservation?

You can easily cancel by calling the restaurant.

Is there a free parking at the restaurant?

There's plenty of parking at the mall. Free parking garages available.

Is there a dress code?

Hi Richard, our restaurants do not have a dress code.

Can I bring a birthday cake?

Hi Rick! You are very welcome to bring a cake to our restaurant. If you need any plates for the cake, please notify your server during your visit. We hope to see you soon!

Does DTF accept any walk ins right now or is it 100% reservation?

Yes they do accept walk ins though the wait might be quiet long

Are dogs allowed for outdoor seating?

Dogs are allowed in the outdoor tent.

What's the current outdoor dining situation? Is it heated?!

It is not heated as of 11/25. However it is fully covered so you can eat if it is raining outside.

What is the average wait time to get a seat in the patio on Sunday lunch during covid times since indoor dining is closed?? Anyone know how big their patio is and how many tables they have?

Sunday lunch could be 30-1hr wait due to limited tables. Their patio is pretty big! Now they have 14tables with barriers in between tables. Btw they don't take reservations, walk-in only for outdoor seating

Is the milk tea non-dairy?

Milk tea at any non vegan place is always real milk. That is unless you request soy milk. Most places will accommodate that because it is often requested. So always request soy if it is not clear on the menu.

Do they do anything special for birthdays?

They can put a candle on their rice cake for you.

Do they have Truffle pork XLB?

They do have them but we prefer the traditional pork only. Truffle didn't add a lot except price.

Do the servers come around pushing carts with food (so you can see what they are before choosing), or do you have to just mark the things you want on a piece of paper? We often don't know what something's called and would like to see the food first!

They do not, but there are pictures on the menu (you have a big picture menu and then mark off on the paper) and everyone is really helpful. They thing with dumplings though, is it's all on the inside, so they all look pretty much the same on the… Read more

Do they have things that are gluten free?

They have two soups that are, but none of the good stuff (dumplings / noodles). Probably some veggie items as well.

Do they serve shrimp shau mai or any dumplings that are only shrimp? Update: they do not?

No, Din Tai Fung DOES NOT have shrimp only dumplings. The only seafood dumpling without pork is fish dumplings.

What is the price range?

I would say 25-35 dollars per person. Last time I went with one other person, I paid around 63 with drinks.

Dough Zone -- Strong Food Undermined by Poor Hospitality…read more Rating: (3/5) Dough Zone continues to attract crowds for its affordable dumplings and dependable comfort food, and to be fair, the kitchen still delivers solid flavors. Unfortunately, this visit was overshadowed by a frustrating service experience that took away from what could have been an enjoyable meal. Ambiance - 4/5 The restaurant maintains its familiar modern-casual atmosphere: lively, efficient, and designed for quick turnover. Despite the busy environment, the space remains relatively comfortable and clean, making it an easy spot for casual group dining. Authenticity - 4/5 The menu reflects classic Northern Chinese comfort dishes and Taiwanese-inspired small plates fairly well. The xiao long bao and noodles still capture the approachable flavors that made Dough Zone popular in the first place. Flavor - 4/5 The food itself was enjoyable. The xiao long bao were flavorful with properly developed broth inside, and overall execution from the kitchen remained consistent. No complaints regarding the dishes themselves. However, what became frustrating was a conversation regarding the Dan Dan noodles. I asked whether the dish contained pork -- a perfectly reasonable question, especially considering authentic Sichuan-style Dan Dan noodles traditionally do contain minced pork. Instead of answering professionally, the waitress responded dismissively: "Since when does Dan Dan noodles have pork?" That response was both inaccurate and unnecessarily condescending, particularly toward a guest who clearly understands the cuisine. Service - 2/5 This is where the experience declined significantly. The waitress came across as rude, dismissive, and surprisingly uninformed about a very standard Chinese dish. Hospitality aside, basic menu knowledge should be expected. To their credit, the service lead attempted to recover the situation by comping one order of xiao long bao, which I appreciated as a gesture of accountability. Without that effort, this review would likely have been lower. Cost - 4/5 Dough Zone continues to offer good value for the quantity and quality of food. Pricing remains one of its strongest advantages, especially for group dining. Final Thoughts Dough Zone succeeds where many casual dumpling chains do: affordable, tasty food served quickly. But strong kitchens can only carry a restaurant so far when front-of-house hospitality breaks down. The food earned the 3 stars. The service nearly brought it down to 2.

The menu looked pretty authentic, so I was excited to order and dig into the $6 Food Walk special. The restaurant makes ordering easy: there's a kiosk right in the front for takeout, or for eat-in, there's a QR code to place an online order at each table. It's a pretty casual place, with self service water and bussing after the meal. Braised Pork Over Rice ($6) - The menu shows a picture of minced pork rice (滷肉飯), but this is actually braised pork belly rice (焢肉飯). They include two small pieces of pork belly, fatty and flavorful, braised until tender. There's half a braised egg, cooked homestyle (e.g. until there's a green ring around the yolk), which is quite flavorful just by itself, being marinated and braised for hours. Some pickled veggies helps cut through some of the fat. The special part of this dish is of course the meat juices and braising liquid that soaks to the rice. It adds a bit of a sweet and soy element as well as fat to help make the rice even more tender, yet not mushy. (4/5) The food I ate tasted pretty good, and the menu is interesting enough to revisit. Seems like Gourmet Noodle Bowl is another win on the Food Walk front! Note: They also offered a Food Walk $6 "Shin Ramen Bowl" special that I didn't get. Based on the name, is it just instant ramen?

I had my all time favorite dish at a Hong Kong café cuisine, gon caau ngau ho (乾炒牛河), aka beef chow fun, along with a childhood favorite drink, iced Horlicks. I liked how everything moved at a quick pace here and yet the staff were still friendly. The best part was that no one stopped by to ask how the food was while your mouth was full, because they already knew the food was good. The beef chow fun was just as good as the ones back home. It was savory and full of wok hei (iykyk). The bean sprouts were added at just the right time, so they were still a slightly crunchy. The sliced beef was tender too. If you like adding extra spice, be sure to try the crunchy chili sauce on the table. It was awesome, fragrant, spicy, and full of flavor. Just be careful not to choke on it, I did, and it wasn't fun. I came in for lunch on a workday on my own, and was pleasantly surprised by how much seating there is in this location and how quickly I got seated (ie immediately). The place isn't dead by any means, but isn't overrun like a lot of places closer to the main SLU drag can get during the lunch rush. They have a focused food menu, with a handful of soupy options, a handful of saucy options, and some sides/starters. As I was trying to just get a quick lunch, I went for just a bowl of the spicy peanut noodles. Probably would have ordered more if I had time for a more leisurely lunch with company, but the bowl that I got was the perfect amount for one person. The combination of the creamy, savory peanut sauce coating the noodles, with the crunchy tangy smashed cucumbers, is lovely. I will say that the noodles are...not spicy. Service was very efficient, and I was actually in and out within a half hour (by my own choice, I did not feel rushed out at all). It is not a cheap lunch, as my total bill with tax and 20% tip came out to just under $25. But it is definitely nice if you want to treat yourself to a nice lunch in a peaceful spot.

Wow, what a quiet secret spot to visit on the weekend! (It's close enough to offices that I suspect…read moreit's much busier during the day.) The ambience and staff made me think the food would be less authentic tasting or fusion-y, but honestly, the only thing that was inauthentic was their amazing, fresh made noodles (because they were whole-wheat textured). The two of us ordered the garlic cucumbers and two bowls of noodles, and it was basically the right amount of food. I especially liked the garlic cucumbers! I think everything might have been slightly on the salty side, but the flavors were amazing, and they were spicy and numbing but not intensely so (despite the color of the food). I would so recommend coming by if you're in the area, weak to but still a lover of spice, and enjoy asian noodles!
