Sweet and sour pork short ribs
    Danh L.

The portion is very big and is good for family sharing style. I love their sweet and sour pork short ribs, juicy and flavorful. The owner Henry was friendly and checked if everything was ok when I was dining there.

Henry's kitchen is so good and filling. The owner is so kind and takes great care of his customers. I'll be coming back again and again for this dish and to try others!!

Both of them were super friendly and really made the visit special since I felt at home. The popcorn chicken was really top tier and a new go to. I got the personal hotpot and loved that I could customize what I wanted inside. The chili oil wontons were pretty solid but I think din tai Fung has a better sauce. Overall, I would recommend gourmet noodle bowl as a solid Taiwanese spot and I'll definitely be back!

Gourmet Noodle Bowl was my 3rd stop on the recent LNY Food Walk. As I walked in, I found that the…read moreinterior really reminded me of a old fashioned restaurant in Taiwan based on the decor and the table set up. The menu looked pretty authentic, so I was excited to order and dig into the $6 Food Walk special. The restaurant makes ordering easy: there's a kiosk right in the front for takeout, or for eat-in, there's a QR code to place an online order at each table. It's a pretty casual place, with self service water and bussing after the meal. Braised Pork Over Rice ($6) - The menu shows a picture of minced pork rice (滷肉飯), but this is actually braised pork belly rice (焢肉飯). They include two small pieces of pork belly, fatty and flavorful, braised until tender. There's half a braised egg, cooked homestyle (e.g. until there's a green ring around the yolk), which is quite flavorful just by itself, being marinated and braised for hours. Some pickled veggies helps cut through some of the fat. The special part of this dish is of course the meat juices and braising liquid that soaks to the rice. It adds a bit of a sweet and soy element as well as fat to help make the rice even more tender, yet not mushy. (4/5) The food I ate tasted pretty good, and the menu is interesting enough to revisit. Seems like Gourmet Noodle Bowl is another win on the Food Walk front! Note: They also offered a Food Walk $6 "Shin Ramen Bowl" special that I didn't get. Based on the name, is it just instant ramen?

Luckily I was able to snag reservations, but you do sit pretty close to the tables around you. We didn't mind since we had a corner table. To share, we ordered the chicken curry nasi lemak, sayap ayam pedas, and kaya toast. All three dishes were phenomenal, each with its own distinct flavor. The sayap ayam pedas was a huge portion for just 2 people, but we couldn't stop eating. The combination of soy sauce and fish sauce was not overpowering at all and the chicken itself was so juicy. The chicken curry in the nasi lemak was delicious with the coconut rice. Along with the anchovies, egg, peanuts, and sambal, it was a choose-your-own-adventure kind of bite. The kaya toast was the perfectly sweet dish to balance out all the flavors. I especially loved dipping it in the poached egg for a satisfyingly runny bite. I left feeling so full, but so motivated to come back and try more dishes. Highly recommend!

Their food is just that good and the unpretentious vibe is actually quite comforting and reminds me of my childhood eating in similar stellar family-owned restaurants in LA's Chinatown. I don't think you can go wrong with any dish. I highly recommend their Pan-Fried Rice Roll with XO Sauce, Braised Beef Brisket w/ Vegetable in Stone Pot, Curry Beef Brisket Lo Mein, and their Salted Pork & Chinese Sausage Rice. My go-to drinks are their awesome Mango Smoothie with Coconut Milk and Sago and their refreshing Iced Coffee. They make such satisfying comfort food! The restaurant was lively with a moderate noise level. A simple family restaurant that puts out authentic Chinese food. My companions both ordered the Black Mushroom with Chicken Rice in a stone clay pot. Their regular meal at the restaurant. I selected the Braised Beef Brisket with vegetables in a clay pot. The two rice dishes require 20 minutes to prepare hence my Braised brisket arrived first and bubbling hot. The flavors were rich and deeply satisfying. So good that my companions plan to order the Braised brisket next time. The Chicken Stone pot clay rice bowls arrived soon afterward. My friends enjoyed their dishes. Fresh tasting and delicious crispy rice. One ordered a Milk Tea and enjoyed it. Highly recommended for an authentic meal when you are in Seattle's International district!

I came in for lunch on a workday on my own, and was pleasantly surprised by how much seating there is in this location and how quickly I got seated (ie immediately). The place isn't dead by any means, but isn't overrun like a lot of places closer to the main SLU drag can get during the lunch rush. They have a focused food menu, with a handful of soupy options, a handful of saucy options, and some sides/starters. As I was trying to just get a quick lunch, I went for just a bowl of the spicy peanut noodles. Probably would have ordered more if I had time for a more leisurely lunch with company, but the bowl that I got was the perfect amount for one person. The combination of the creamy, savory peanut sauce coating the noodles, with the crunchy tangy smashed cucumbers, is lovely. I will say that the noodles are...not spicy. Service was very efficient, and I was actually in and out within a half hour (by my own choice, I did not feel rushed out at all). It is not a cheap lunch, as my total bill with tax and 20% tip came out to just under $25. But it is definitely nice if you want to treat yourself to a nice lunch in a peaceful spot.

The ambience and staff made me think the food would be less authentic tasting or fusion-y, but honestly, the only thing that was inauthentic was their amazing, fresh made noodles (because they were whole-wheat textured). The two of us ordered the garlic cucumbers and two bowls of noodles, and it was basically the right amount of food. I especially liked the garlic cucumbers! I think everything might have been slightly on the salty side, but the flavors were amazing, and they were spicy and numbing but not intensely so (despite the color of the food). I would so recommend coming by if you're in the area, weak to but still a lover of spice, and enjoy asian noodles!
