Located in the heart of international district, this is one of my fav spots for malatong! It's a pay by the weight, which is nice for days when I'm too full for an AYCE hot pot. They have great variety in the selection of noodles, vegetables, meats, and other sides. Quick and friendly service, and they also have sanitary covers on the foods, which is a nice touch.

    Nice packaging

The packaging is unreal for the low price. Like bro, this is too good to be true. And the internal design and how clean the inside of the store is next level compared with other Malatang stores. And thank you Jacqueline for taking my order although it was like 1 min after closing time already . I will make sure I come earlier than 9PM in the future!

    Mild malatang

Fantastic food and packaging! The meats were very tender and great spice flavors. Wonderful service as well. Note this place is primarily a takeout spot and only has 3 seats

Great hot pot with quality meat options, good variety of toppings that were very fresh, and rich and flavorful broth. #2 broth is a good medium level of spice. Comes with rice and dessert and reasonably priced.

    Soup base and side dishes

Chengduer Malatang is an amazing hotpot place with just $13.5/L.b. They have plenty of to add to your hotpot. their soup base is very flavorful.

Really appreciate how clean it is here, especially since it's a self-service type place. Selection is pretty decent too. I would prefer a chicken base that uses pure chicken but given the super yellow color of the broth, I'm guessing that they add bouillon. Not a deal breaker but not my personal preference. Biggest negative is that it took like 40 minutes for them to cook our food.

Absolutely unacceptable experience. I placed my order at 12:19 PM and didn't receive my food until over an hour later. This is a build your own takeout malatang restaurant, so I expected a reasonable wait--but not one that took up my entire hour lunch break and then some. What made the experience even more frustrating was the complete lack of communication. The cashier never apologized, never warned anyone that the kitchen was running behind, and never offered a single update. About 40 minutes in, I finally asked for a status update and was simply told, "Almost." That was it. After my coworker received her order, the cashier looked at my other coworker and I and said our food was ready, but there was "no one in the back to pack it." We then had to sit there for another 10 minutes waiting for someone to put it in a bag. Meanwhile, we watched multiple customers who ordered after us receive their food before we did. After wasting over an hour of our lunch break, the food itself was incredibly disappointing. The ingredients were overcooked, the broth was bland, and it absolutely was not worth the wait. The service was disorganized, the communication was nonexistent, and the food didn't make up for any of it. I won't be coming back, and I definitely wouldn't recommend this place if you're on any kind of time limit.

Food is good with lots of options! Wait time takes about 20 minutes but worth it. Will come back again.

The staff gave us the perfect amount of time to look over the menu and decide what we wanted. We ordered the Spicy Beef Soup with mild spice, and it was delicious. The portions were perfect, although I was definitely shocked when it first came out in what looked like a huge bowl! We also tried the Special Prime Rib Dry Noodles, and the meat was incredibly tender--it practically fell off the bone. Everything was reasonably priced, especially compared to another noodle restaurant we had considered. The passion fruit tea was also delicious and was the perfect complement to the spicy noodles. It quenched our thirst and helped cool down the heat. We also ordered the scallion pancakes, which were good, although I wish there had been a little more scallion. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals. Overall, a great spot for noodles with generous portions, friendly service, and reasonable prices. I'd definitely come back!

Since my last review the restaurant has closed and reopened, and expanded their menu, to now include more dumplings and varieties of noodles. They also now have a very handy duo of ordering kiosks, which you order at prior to sitting down. I found their kiosks easy to use, which isn't always a given. This being my first visit back in a while, I had to get the spicy cumin lamb biang biang noodles. However I had to try some dumplings, so we shared the lamb dumplings, while my dinner buddy had the spicy cumin lamb rice noodle soup (the same kind of noodles you'd get at a ten second yunnan noodle type of place). They also now have a complimentary side dish bar that has seaweed salad, peanuts, and kimci, as well as some condiment type things like scallions and minced garlic. I helped myself to some seaweed salad to nibble on while waiting for our food, and it was good although food comes out quickly enough that you don't necessarily have to rely on it unless you're really chomping at the bit. The spicy cumin lamb biang biang noodles are just as good as I remember. The biang biang noodles here are perfectly chewy, and the rest of the dish has a lovely flavor aside from just spice. They're generous with lamb and cabbage which add a lot of textural variety to the plate. The lamb dumplings were the sleeper hit of the meal, filled with juicy, tender hunks of lamb surrounded by toothsome clearly hand-rolled wrappers. Absolutely do not skip the lamb dumplings. My dinner buddy really enjoyed her rice noodle soup with spicy cumin lamb, which I think would be a great option on a cold day. Everything is pretty much self serve here, so don't expect full service -- although they did stop by to refill our water once. The food here is so good, though, and prices are so reasonable, that I truly do not care that the experience is pretty bare bones otherwise.

We knew we wanted Chinese food so we made a point of trying more than 15 places before choosing here. The food was so fresh and delicious. We ordered several trays of food for the event along with other Western catered food. At the end of the event, the food from Asian Kitchen was completely gone while we still had other catered food left over. It was clearly a hit. So much so that one of the attendees ended up ordering catering from here for one of their events and we are also ordering catering from them for another upcoming event. We have been so impressed with the quality that we have made special trips out to Asian Kitchen to eat and we live more than 45min away. It has been fantastic every time. Check out the Orange Chicken. It is one of the best we've ever had. That said, everything we've had has been amazing so I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. :)

It was a little strange with the ordering process so we walk in and the ladies like sit down where you want so we picked our booth that we wanted to sit in there's a Q code to our right and we were like do we use the q-code to order because nobody was coming to our table for a long time there was a menu on an easel stand as well. After about five minutes we decided to do the Q code and when I opened it and signed in, there was already an order placed so I ended up getting out of the booth walking up to the counter to ask about the ordering. She said she didn't clear the previous customer order and needed to delete the order that was on there so I can start one for ourselves. We got the ordering figured out they started bringing out the food. They brought the appetizers then the fried rice. We were hungry so we started eating the fried rice it was 1/2 gone when the entrees come out. They bring the items out as they are finished making them one or two at a time. They totally forgot the soup so I had to get up and ask if it was included in the Family combo. she's like oh yeah I forgot. It would have been nice if the food comes out at once or atleast 1-2 minutes after. The parking lot is small enough for about eight cars but the businesses next to it had plenty of parking so we park there and walked to the restaurant inside. Overall I give them a 4.5 because the ordering process felt a little impersonable and confusing. We didn't know what to do. I will note when we sat there waiting someone did come to take an order at a different table so I'm not sure if they just pick and choose who they want to personally ask. Idk
