The noodles were great as well. This definitely isn't a fancy or high end spot. More of that hole in the wall feel. But tbh, that's what gives it charm. You can pretty much sit anywhere you want. I arrived at this shop right at 11 when the owners were arriving and opening the door. I offered to come back in a little bit since they just got there, but they told me to go inside and wait. Super sweet! They have a lot of great options to choose from and different size bowls of pho. The large was only a dollar more than the small, but I didn't need a large. They don't restrict who can order a smaller size either. Yay! A small bowl of pho was large enough that I couldn't finish it. You get plenty of meat and noodles. The broth was flavorful and the meat was great. I didn't have any weird or chewy bits. The staff were super friendly. I didn't have to wait too long to get my order. Came here to pick up 2 banh mi s after they were rated by infatuation as one of the best banh mis in seattle( they only have 3 options - pork , chicken and tofu) and I ordered pork and chicken. Overall run by nice and quiet folks. I made it to the place about an hour before closure and there were not many people, it still took about 15 mins to prepare which i appreciate it as they make them to order.i also assume because it was closed to the end of the night floor was mopped which made it a little bit slippery - something to be careful about. Parking is tricky as the place is in heart of ID. Overall tasty banh mi with a fresh bread , especially chicken one was very tender and juicy with right amount of condiments- wish they had a bit more traditional versions available - like cold cut. What I didn't know about Chinatown Seattle was that the Vietnamese food is pretty good. After having the Chinese food there which was mid, I'd say go for the Pho instead if you're in the area. I had the Beef Short Rib pho and the beef short ribs came on the side and the meat was tender and fell off the bone. Highly recommend that one. My mom got the Banh Mi. This was just the perfect spot to go to before we took the public transit to the airport and a good way to end our trip. You don't come here for the ambiance which isn't great, just if you want some pho. We got the #2 Spring Rolls - These were nice and fresh, what you expect from a typical Pho place. #4 Fried Batter Shrimp - These were so good! Take advantage of them. They were perfectly fried, and will probably come back just for this yum! #8 Beef Pho - The Pho was okay. I've definitely had better, but it's still worth a try if you're new to this cuisine or for a quick comfort pick-me-up moment. And #26 - Vermicelli Noodles with Stir-fried Beef--my partner really liked it compared to other places we've tried. The place is definitely no frills, which usually serves the best food sometimes, but sadly, it seems someone peed in their front door area because the whole front of the restaurant smelled terrible; most of us had to sit towards the back of the restaurant to avoid the stench. This is not their fault, of course, and probably won't be the case moving forward, but it definitely ruined our appetite at first, sadly. After we finished eating and went to pay, the cashier made some really inappropriate comments about me and my partner. He tried to pass it off as a "joke," but when my partner came up to the counter, he suddenly didn't want to repeat what he said and tried to change the subject. Once I made it clear that we were uncomfortable, he kept trying to explain himself instead of just apologizing. He only said sorry after other customers started paying attention, and even then, he wouldn't apologize to our faces -- he made us go outside because he was too embarrassed to do it at the counter. That honestly just made the whole situation worse than it needed to be. It's super disappointing because we've been consistently giving this place our money, just to be treated like that. The food was good, but we won't be coming back because of this experience. I can give him a little grace since he seemed socially awkward, but the way this was handled completely threw us off. We literally just wanted to eat, pay, and leave -- we didn't ask for any of this. As someone who works in food service, I would never comment on a customer's appearance or make personal jokes like that, no matter how "comfortable" I felt. At the end of the day, this is a business relationship, and that line was crossed. The veggies (the standard lettuce, cucumber, carrot, daikon, cucumber, and bean sprouts) were all fresh, as was the mint - an important touch. I feel like this is a fairly average pho restaurant, with decent food and prices. My group ordered individual phos, spring rolls, egg rolls, and some noodles. The pho was fine but the broth was a little salty, the egg rolls were hot and crispy, and the noodles weren't my favorite. The restaurant was fairly empty during dinnertime on a weekday and service was friendly. Other than the salty broth, I think the biggest inconvenience was when we had to go pay for our food. Our server told us that their internet was down and we wouldn't be able to pay with card for at least 10 minutes. I'm back in Seattle and was craving pho. Did some research and decided to try out this place. I've got a little Vietnam in my blood, so I'd like to think I know what I am talking about. After rolling my eyes at the Big Bowl fanboys and my breakup with Than Brothers, it was Pho Bac for me years ago. I have got to say, though it was just slightly on the salty side, this pho may even trump the one back home... and that's saying a lot! ("home" being Northern Viriginia) It does bewilder me that this place doesn't have higher than 4 stars, but maybe they're human and have off days too. Maybe it doesn't cater to all tastes.
