I love this place! I have eaten their pho before but recently actually went in for the first time. I ordered on the phone and was really happy that it was so easy and my food was ready in like 15 minutes! The staff was really nice too. The prices are a tiny bit high, but i'd say the pho is easily two portions. I always get the vegan tofu pho and it is delicious. They have the best vegan pho broth i've ever had, really rich and deep flavor. I haven't actually eaten in, but their spot is cutely decorated and they have plenty of seating. The service was really excellent and the cost was quite good as they have a buy 2 get 1 free special on banh mis. The quality of the banh mis was a little bit disappointing though. They weren't bad but it was an unusual flavor profile. Like the bread had a baby with an Olive Garden garlic breadstick instead of a regular baguette. The sauce on both my tofu and my partner's pork and chicken banh mis were maybe a little lacking in flavor too or just a bit off base. I think lots of folks would like this but for me it felt a little too much like a McDonald's version of a baguette. Got the pork bahn mi and a side of broth! Broth was served with plenty of cilantro, white and green onions. Needed a little hot sauce, but not bad at all. Bahn mi stole the show. This is not a traditional pho restaurant, which I should've known based on the name of the restaurant. It doesn't have your typical pho menu. There are usually a bunch of beef options (round steak, flank, tripe, tendon, brisket, meatballs, etc). The only beef options here are steak and brisket. The noodles aren't fresh. It seems catered to people who don't eat pho normally. If you come in knowing this isn't a traditional pho restaurant, it's probably ok. There are better options in Seattle. read more

I always have people asking me, "where do you recommend good pho?" And I never knew what to tell them, other than Washington has decent pho. Tried all the popular spots and was never impressed. However, I'm going to be recommending Crane's Landing from now on. First, this restaurant is tucked away nicely in a quiet spot of Capitol Hill. Secluded and safe parking lot. When I looked at the menu, I was a little skeptical because it was a bit pricer than I normally pay for pho. However, don't let the couple extra bucks deter you. Easily one of the better pho in Washington. If you're a thick noodle fan like myself, you'll find that it's hard to find a place that will serve thick noodles. But Crane's Landing does. And they do it well. Generous portion sizes, and it passed the broth test (meaning it barely needs any additional condiments but add per preference), and I finished the entire bowl and felt satisfied. There was a lot of glitches in the ordering system but considering that this is new, I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that it will be better. We heard that there's a new Vietnamese restaurant that replaced the old one and so we decided to check it out. I ordered online and my husband went to pick it up. The pick up was smooth sailing, so no issues there. The ordering process though was a little painful. Their online ordering system has a lot of glitches in my opinion that affected my experiences with the food. 1) you can only order one type of vermicelli bowl even though there are options. 2) the protein options arents the same for the various bases, which it should be. 3) surprisingly, the fried rice is cheaper than steam rice?? 4) some of the extras available is also not consistent in terms of charges and availability. I ordered: Tofu and chicken banh mi --- chicken looks smaller than banh mi for some reason?? And not enough veggies Combo salad with shrimp and chicken ---comes with no sauce or dressing??? It was good though, the meats gave it some flavor so it wasn't bad, and the veggies are good and fresh. Also, I asked for extra pickle veggies but it doesn't seem to have much Combo fried rice --- I like this one. The pork was on the sweet side if eaten on its own but when eaten with rice it was good. The shrimp was also very flavorful but a little on the overcooked side. I also order extra eggs and broccoli and carrots and it was a good portion. Crane's Landing has quickly become one of my absolute favorite spots in Seattle. Their Tofu Pho is hands-down the best I've ever had (most places fail with vegetarian pho broth, but not here!). It's a rich, aromatic broth, with perfectly cooked tofu and broccoli. It's comfort in a bowl, perfectly contrasting Seattle's dreary rain/mist. I've also tried their beef and chicken pho, as well as their egg, beef, and tofu bánh mìs, and everything has been consistently excellent. All pho broths are always bright and balanced with little to no sign of Anise, and the bánh mìs hit that perfect blend of freshness, crunch, and savory fillings. Also, the staff is friendly and the service is quick. In conclusion, Crane's Landing delivers every time. I highly recommend them! read more

Hands down my favorite spots for lunch! The food is always fresh and delicious, and the quality never disappoints. I really want to help this place and like it because it's in a tough place to stick and the owner is welcoming -- but I can't. The pho doesn't work. They don't have the flavors down and the noodles are not meant for pho but more savory dishes, they taste disgustingly sweet and slippery on the mouth. So for 20 dollars, before any tip, you get a veggie "steak" pho with three pieces of mediocre quality beef, some steamed veggies, and a bad taste left in your mouth. This is our go to spot for pho since it is right in our neighborhood. I love that their pho does not have any MSG (for those who care...I frankly don't care if it has MSG or not) but what I will say this, the owners are sooooooo friendly. Always greeting you with a smile. Takeout is what we usually get since we live across the street, and I can place the order from my apartment and walk across the street and it is being bagged as I walk in. Hopefully this review will give sufficient information to try this place out yourself. I personally got the combo pho (steak + brisket) with beef broth ($15), as well as the shrimp spring roll ($7). A regular pho is $12 for one option, so overall pricing is pretty good. This is before the 50% off discount, so with the discount, I ended up paying a little over $12 including tax - I could potentially just eat here daily for really well priced meals, though sadly work and other plans will not allow me to have that time as this place is quite far. Portion sizes are perfect - although a little smaller than a typical restaurant, you feel decently full and satisfied afterwards, especially since the owner mentioned he uses organic ingredients. Hence, these two things got me pretty full at the end, without any guilt to the diet. Pho here is decent, with very clear and mild (beef) broth. Do not be alarmed if it tastes bland, due to the nature of the broth. There is a slight hint of sweetness to it, purely from the sugars, rock sugar, brown sugar. Noodles are cooked well, a little bit on the softer side. The pho is served with the usual fixings, such as bean sprouts, basil, etc though I wished they added just a little bit more of those on the side. Brisket has a solid meat to fat ratio. Steak was a little bit overcooked. Presentation-wise, the closest association I have is Vinason Pho near the SLU/Denny Triangle area. Shrimp spring roll: the shrimp is slightly sweet and super fresh. There is a crazy amount of greens (lettuce, mint, etc) for that crunch. Peanut sauce was just okay - it would be nice to have a bit more sauce as the rolls are huge. Another issue is that the spring roll skin sticks to the paper a bit too much, so it was hard to pick up, but the overall structure is still intact once I got the spring roll out of the paper. The owner was generous and wanted me to check out the marinated pork and chicken that he uses for the banh mi and vermicelli dishes, to ask for feedback. He gave me a sizable amount to sample actually, which was great - as I ordered a lot of food, it will be a nice savory snack on the go. They are marinated very well, a little bit salty but very flavorful. Unlike a lot of Vietnamese restaurants that have these grilled meats, these meats are not burnt or overcooked, and there is not much fat in it, tying back to his intention to make this a relatively healthy restaurant. Overall, the food is good but nothing too memorable. I ended up having a conversation with the owner and he is super friendly and enthusiastic about the opening of his restaurant. As I was snapping some pictures after getting the food, he asked me if I was a food influencer. I mean, maybe, but I don't have that many followers on Yelp or Instagram, but he still treated me like a celebrity because he is excited to see someone coming here and sharing about this place (which I am doing right now haha). He says he needs to do a bit more of marketing but there is so much on his plate - this is a family run restaurant and he has children that is taking care of the website and marketing with the social media, etc. He mentioned that he has a lot of things to experiment in the upcoming months, while waiting for some deliveries such as a new sign, etc. to bring this place to the full potential. His vision of the restaurant is to provide quick service as the location caters to the hospitals and universities, who may not have a lot of time for lunch break, to provide an inclusive space, and to focus more on the food and reduce overhead to maintain efficiency and fair prices. He emphasized that the food is intended to just be the average, above average stuff and is not meant to be a place where people will make a journey to go to, and to design the restaurant as transparent as possible - hence, you can see when you walk up to the restaurant to order, you can see very clearly what is happening behind the scenes in the kitchen. read more

I was really craving pho so I decided to give this restaurant a try. The restaurant itself is super clean, you order at the counter and the bring you the food. All utensils, water and sauces are self serve. All the utensils are compostable! As for the food, it was delicious light and felt very healthy. The steak pho was delicious. The broth was very clean, it wasn't as rich in flavours as other broths I had but it was instead very refreshing. I loved how it came with just the right amount of bean sprouts so nothing was wasted.
