This place used to be so good. I remember moving to Seattle last September and while I was settling in, I ordered from this place at least 3 times a week for a couple months because I really enjoyed the protein combos. I usually get the steak bowl with broken rice and the chicken vermicelli noodles with extra chicken on the side. The last few times I ordered from them on Doordash, the protein has gone significantly down in quality. The beef is no longer thinly sliced and grilled, but now in chewy big chunks that is barely grilled. They have also been forgetting the sauces that go with these entrees so eating it without the sauce isn't enjoyable (fish sauce by default for vermicelli dishes and a creamy green sauce for broken rice options). Somewhere along the line, ordering "extra meat" is the same quantity as not ordering extra meat. I kept ordering from them despite these issues thinking it might have been an "off" day. But the issues still unfortunately persist. So for all these reasons, I probably won't be ordering from them again. read more

I finally got to try this place, as I've always been interested because I love banh mis and they offer a very affordable (for Seattle) and convenient/fast banh mi. I will say that overall this lived up to my expectations for a fast casual restaurant. Would I go out of my way to get this again? No, probably not. Would I pick one up if I needed a fast cheap lunch and was in the area? Yes. I got a chicken banh mi. The sandwich is a very decent size, I'd say about 8 inches. The chicken thigh was grilled to my liking, and they give you pretty large full pieces of thigh (not chopped or sliced). The bread was good but slightly off from a usual Vietnamese baguette in my experience. My largest critique is that the veggies really lacked that pickled tangy flavor that they usually add on a traditional banh mi. I am not sure that the carrots were pickled at all, they were just the shredded carrots you buy in a bag at the grocery store. Because of this I didn't think the sandwich really tasted like a banh mi at all. Was it an acceptable chicken thigh sandwich? Sure, but it didn't hit the spot as a banh mi for me. For the affordable price and convenience I don't regret trying this place, which I'd say ranks respectfully, in regard to quality and taste, alongside other fast casual chains like Chipotle. read more

The food was good but the service was weird and rude. My first complaint was I had to literally stop a guy from putting the wrong type of meat in my bowl after I was clear with him. So much so that a coworker laughed at him while passing by. Then I ordered a Thai tea and some lady with red hair refused to call my name for the drink, when I went up to the desk she said "I couldn't find you", while I was sitting at the bar in front of the cash register....it's only me here. Plus there's no Asians working here kind of weird, mines will start hiring Black people that's interested in the culture and not just people who hate their jobs. There is limited seating inside and some outside (only viable when it's not too cold outside). I got the grilled chicken rice bowl with the green sauce, with lettuce, carrots, etc for the toppings. The green sauce is like a cilantro sauce and it was an amazing addition. There is a lot of chicken but not much rice, and I'd take that over having more rice to fill me up. The vegetables are fresh and make the meal nutritionally complete. It was just the right amount of food, and it was healthy, so it is not as filling as other places, but I would take this quality over having quantity. These requests have previously been accommodated, typically with an additional charge of roughly $5. I explicitly said I was willing to pay any applicable extra charge during this visit. I politely placed my order. The female employee serving me repeatedly did not acknowledge or answer my requests. I experienced her manner and tone as irritated, dismissive, and rude. When I requested the salad separately, she eventually asked which salad items I wanted, in a tone I perceived as angry or impatient. I said I wanted all of them. I asked for the manager. She said she was the manager. I then asked the male cashier, who also identified her as the manager. He responded that everything was okay and the order contained what I wanted. Good fast food option for a busy work day, but terrible hygiene, and possibly some food safety issues. Asked for a vegan bowl with tofu and as they were sliding it down the line, a big chunk of pork fell into my bowl. Counter staff casually pulled it out and put it back into the big bowl it came from! So many things wrong about this. Observed at least one counter staff wipe their beads of sweat off their brow and not change gloves. I'm also not entirely sure if their tofu is cooked on a different grill from the meat, so if you have an ick about that, best to ask. read more

The food is Banj Mi Beef Brisket. The brisket is golden. Smooth and silky to eat with the best seasoning and veg ratios. The crunch baguette... yum. Transports me back to my childhood in Seattle restaurants. This is our second order from them and everything is delish. Will go back. Lychee lemonade and yuzu lemonade. I got an order for pickup and didn't realize that this was like a Chipotle but with Vietnamese food until I stopped by to grab my order. You can choose between different meats, veggies, and vessels to carry all the above on (rice, banh mi, vermicelli noodles). I got the grilled chicken rice bowl with no jalapeños and extra egg (since it was the #1 order online). Glad I listened to the masses because it was bomb. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the veggies were fresh. Also the portions were great. I have a big appetite and I was able to split my bowl into two meals. I got the grilled pork bánh mì for $9.98 Pros: super huge generous portions. Given the big increase in food prices lately, what you get here is a steal and the main reason why I would come back. I noticed big portions in my sandwich and also others' orders. Grilled pork had good flavor and I liked the grilled corn and scallion oil (mỡ hành). Cons: I felt the bread was either old or previously heated to be crispy and then left to cool for a long time so it was a little dry. They ask to put the sauce on last but I think they should put it on first because after all the meat and veggies they give, there's practically no room for sauce. I thought they should've pickled the carrots longer or with more sugar. I wonder about the cleanliness because the bathroom could use some work. Thought it was weird they store containers and food wrappers a mere feet from the toilet (though everything looked wrapped/in boxes). Such a lovely and yummy spot! I had heard so many great things about this spot and finally got the chance to try it for lunch. We arrived around 11:40 and there was a decent sized line, but this actually ended up being a great time since by the time we finished ordering the line was extremely long. They do move fast here though, since it's more of a chipotle style ordering system. I got the house pork place which came with pork belly and grilled pork on top of broken rice, and a side of cucumber, tomato, and veggie salad. The portions are not only massive that it lasts more than one meal, but the food itself is absolutely delicious! Both types of pork were so flavorful and well seasoned, and the broken rice was fantastic and fragrant. I also loved the green dressing they give with the salad which tastes super fresh and tangy. For a lunch spot, this is fantastic and conveniently located. I would totally be back more often if I had the opportunity. I asked for extra cilantro and they literally just placed it on top of the bun instead of inside of it. And to top it off, the sandwich was overly saturated with sauce. I work about two blocks away from this location and I'm so glad I do because my first several times here have been great, and I will definitely continue to frequent Sizzle@Crunch! A unique (to me) build your own banh mi (along with other foods) place, you go in, place your order, and let them know what toppings you'd like. I usually just get everything on it. The people working have always been nice, and seem very generous with portions! Especially since every time I've gone it's been in off-lunch times (around 2 pm) so there's usually no rush at all. I really enjoy the quality of the ingredients, the pork is really flavorful. I also was drawn to get a drink last time I was there. I was definitely quite big, but it tasted great! They also let you customize sweetness which is always a nice touch. The restaurant has quite a bit of seating, and a really nice outdoor seated area that's under a covered roof. There didn't seem to be much, if any, extra meat, but I've never ordered from here before. A comparison with my coworker's bowl didn't see a difference. And for an extra $5 I was expecting more. And there was no egg at all: on either of our meals. And there was a weird hand written note on the receipt pointing from the note about cooking the egg that said egg 1.99. No idea what that was about. It wasn't added or subtracted from the bill. It tasted okay, but the dressing was either too light or there just wasn't enough of it.
