    So 1. Wonton Noodle Soup

    No frills, mom and pop spot with great wontons! I got the Wonton Noodle Soup with egg noodles. The broth was so tasty and comforting, the noodles were chewy and perfectly cooked, and the wontons were so flavorful. Service was prompt, you order with a QR code and pay at the cashier. I will be back again soon!

    I've been coming to Canton Wanton since 1991 when I came to UW as an international student from Southeast Asia. Over the decades, I've brought many friends and visitors to our favorite noodle place for comfort food whether it's beef brisket wide egg noodles dry OR sui gau soup noodles thin. My husband and kids all consider it to be our favorite noodle place in the greater Puget Sound. That's why I was sad to see new owners when I went for lunch today. The chef and his family that I had come to know over the years had sold their business to different owners. While the new owners are sweet and eager to serve, the portion of beef in my beef brisket noodles was small which made the overall taste not the same bc the ratio of noodles to beef was off. It might just be part of figuring out the new business so I'm willing to try again, but overall, left quite disappointed. .

    All right, so first off, this place is borderline dumpy with no frills, but the FLAVOR and prices are amazing! It is also centrally located in the district and easy to get to. The service was quick and seamless. We didn't order much because we felt iffy about the place and just wanted to get our toes wet. The flavor will bring us back. I can see this being a comfort soup or noodle place for me, especially after a long day of airport travel and coming back into the city. I highly recommend it if you need a bowl or plate of comfort and don't care about the look of the place.

    Came by on a Saturday around 1 pm. It is a low key place, and there were only two other groups seated. A waitress immediately saw me and told me to sit anywhere I want. Brought me a menu and water and chopsticks and a soup spoon very quickly. The sides of the table have QR codes so I placed my order. My food came out maybe 10 min later. First the donuts came out which were extremely fresh, hot and fluffy. The congee came out a few min later, and again, very fresh! I added soy sauce and some of the chili sauce that was at the table, which the restaurant had plenty of options for. The food was extremely good, very filling, and overall a fantastic price. I will definitely be back to try their other dishes!

As I was also sad to see the previous owners go, I'm thankful for the new owners who risked keeping this place open despite the challenges for small businesses esp in Seattle. The broth and dumplings (although a different shape) were the same and the noodles were even BETTER. Always a good meal.

    Highly recommend Canton Wonton House if you're looking for a hearty bowl of classic wonton soup. Came in on a cold and rainy day and the broth just hit. Super flavorful with lots of noodles. Wish there was more beef but it was only because it was so dang good It is definitely going to be my regular spot for a brothy meals. Has a classic ID feel with classic ID owners. 10/10

    Yummy place for wonton noodle soup! I split congee and sui-kau and beef brisket noodle soup. The soup was yummy and the wontons were very flavorful. I wish they gave you a bit more meat. The congee was good too once adding some seasoning. The portions are very generous and service was fairly fast.

    Small no-frills Cantonese wonton noodle place in Chinatown. Went there for a late lunch on a weekend afternoon, and there were a few people inside. Menu has the pretty typical Cantonese soup noodle and mixed items. Not a whole lot of appetizer choices. Got the large size wonton and BBQ pork (chashiu) soup noodles. The noodle has some bounce to them, but not too chewy. The wontons are the more traditional variety that are smaller and has pork and some shrimp. Everything tasted fine, but the amount of ingredients is low. I got four small wontons, four pieces of pork, and half a stalk of Shanghai bokchoy. The effects of inflation, I suppose. Overall it was alright, but there are better wonton noodle places in Chinatown.

    Another solid spot for wonton noodles in the Chinatown International District! I ordered the wonton and beef brisket noodle soup with wide egg noodles with a side order of youtiao. I liked how the youtiao was crispy but not overly oily like at many other restaurants. I also liked how they had different options for the noodles like wide egg noodles and rice noodles. As for the wonton and beef brisket noodle soup, I liked the broth and how it came with veggies in the soup. The wontons and brisket were good, I just wish there was a tad more meat. However the amount of noodles and soup was plentiful. The server was really friendly and the space was quieter and emptier than at other places in the neighborhood. I do prefer nearby Mike's Noodle for wonton noodles but this is still a super solid spot. I would love to come by in the future to try the congee here!

    4.25 stars - opens until 8:00pm and their telephone works! Initially I wanted Mike's Noodle House (closes at 7pm) but happy I was able to stumble upon Canton Wonton house! Menu is extensive but bb and I got the usual Wonton Rice Noodle Soup- pipping hot and delicious wontons, they also offer chili oil on the side of the table too! Beef Brisket Wonton Egg Noodle- bb enjoyed it and says it's good Staff was very kind and accommodating since we trickled in close to closing - would love to come back and try their soy bean milk Would recommend if you're wanting wonton noodles - yay to local businesses!

    I believe this is the second time I've been here. The first time was years ago and it was not memorable for me. My cousin loves wonton noodle so he tries to try it at different places any chance he gets. Sadly he was disappointed by the flavor. I also find the flavor lackluster. My aunt did like it because it had more shrimp than pork in the filling but she thought the soup was a bit too oily. We also tried congee with fish. I'm not normally a huge fan of fish. The congee for me was not that great. I had to add soy sauce to liven it up. The place was not too busy when we went close to noon; pretty quiet and hole in the wall type place.

    My favorite wonton soup in Seattle by far and I love wonton soup. It has a low key family vibe, nothing fancy, and the food is delicious.

The wontons are very very good, stuffed with flavorful pork and swimming in a sauce that sits in that perfect spot at the intersection of hot and sour. The peanuts and scallions add a delightful crunch. Their beef chow fun satisfies every bit of childhood nostalgia I have for this dish, with lots of wok hei, bouncy noodles, and the most tender of beef. I think my favorite beef chow fun in the city still lives at A+ Hong Kong Kitchen, but this is a close second. The portion here is also huge. I am a human vacuum and I actually brought leftovers home, which is rare for me. The pork with hot sauce noodles is seemingly a fusion of zha jiang mian and dan dan noodles. My friend really enjoyed it and actually finished the whole thing, which is saying something given that she doesn't usually eat that much. The wife scoffed at the idea that there's such a thing as too much chili oil and ate some of his soup. This was after she dug into her hot pot. I did get a chance to sample the delicate pork pieces and the flavorful rice. The slightly crispy rice at the bottom of the pot were so delicious. I had the Singapore style fried noodles. Really tasty. The noodles had so many flavors from the vegetables to the meats (shrimp, chicken meat & egg, and pork) and the sauce.     I have a problem with Chinatown. Almost none of the restaurants have websites and those that do…read moretend to be outdated or even have dead links. Also, when did we start calling it, "The International District". If we had Mexican, Italian and other ethnic restaurants in the neighborhood, I'd get on board, but not only do San Francisco, New York and L. A. have the biggest Chinatowns, cities also have Barrio's and Little Italy's, so clearly cultures are ok with us specifying. A friend brought up Scallion Beef, so I did a search, Scallion Beef is sometimes called Ginger Beef, so H Bistro came up in my results. Initially, I wondered if H Bistro was Hong Kong Bistro and they rebranded, but HKB is still in business and around the corner and not very good mind you. Reviews for H Bistro are strong and the photo's convinced me that this should be a better than average meal. People talked about the lunch special and since I had a meeting downtown in the afternoon, I thought I could pop in here before my meeting. Once there I was sat. I didn't see lunch on the menu, so I asked and was told, lunch was no longer offered. Again, with no website, I had to rely on Yelp so despite reviews from 2024 talking about lunch, it's not longer offered. I got the Ginger Beef and asked if they did soup by the cup and was also told no. That is why Chinese Lunch is so popular, you typically get soup, rice, entrée and even an appetizer. That is a full meal. I just had my entrée and rice. I asked for chili oil and was brought a very small portion, It had good flavor, but no heat. The entree was good, but without soup and appetizer it just wasn't well rounded. Also, the food would have benefited from being served on a hot iron plate. Not only does it add sear, but it keeps the dish hot. Post meal, I had hoped for a cookie and despite being a block from the fortune cookie factory, no cookie was served. Would I return, sure, with a large group, that would be the only way to truly experience the menu. With 2 people I could have added soup and appetizer as the entrée is also large enough for 2. That said, this was one the cleaner places in Chinatown. That is not to say Chinatown is dirty, but many restaurants need paint, have old furniture or have water stains. This place was fairly nice inside and could be classy with a few more bucks invested. This place really shot itself in the foot by discontinuing lunch, despite being decent, there was just too much disappointment today.
