Really good food here. Market price on the seafood can vary and get pricey but they make it really well. The steamed oysters and crab was the way to go. Even the smaller crab they showed us was very large. Service here is really good. The food came out quick.
We were in Chinatown doing the touristy things, aka semi-aimlessly spending time after attending to places of interest in the area. We were interested in trying some local Chinese seafood and this place did not disappoint! It was rather slow when we arrived but started getting busy when we were nearing the middle of our dinner. The spot is very welcoming and casual. And the service was super friendly. We really wanted to try their crab and we asked for a smaller one as we were not trying to get crazy stuffed. But they ended up making a larger one. A lady brought out one (still alive) to show me while my boyfriend was still in a bathroom and I kind of panicked and nodded :') We ordered it Hong Kong spicy. To be honest, it was not very spicy, I've had (and enjoyed) wayyyyy spicier dishes before. When lady came up to our table to check on us, she asked "not too spicy right?", I really hope they were not holding off because of a white lady at the table lol but overall it was really good! Also my boyfriend ordered us oysters, they didn't have them on the menu. So it must be a "secret menu" item. They only had two left and we grabbed both. They were prepared steamed and with garlic. I think those were the biggest oysters I've ever had. Another dish we had was green beans with pork. It was mildly spicy but cooked really well with perfect crunch to the green beans. The meal was served with hot tea and some fresh orange slices at the end. When we were done, they were kind enough to pick our leftover vegetables and rice to-go. I would definitely come back to this restaurant when in Seattle!
Fortune Garden is a family favorite, especially for special occasions! Here are some of the things we like. Yes, a lot of food and our families like leftovers. We'll alter the menu depending on the number of people in attendance. Garlic Pea Vines Hoisan Cauliflower Stir Fry Westlake Soup Peking Duck (I've had tastier duck elsewhere, but we still order this) Minced Pork w/ Salted Fish Honey Walnut Prawns Sweet & Sour Chicken Mongolian Lamb Singapore Noodles Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings - 2 orders always! Japanese Tofu w/ Seafood Chicken & Salted Fish Fried Rice We've never had a bad meal or even anything questionable here. They do everything well. It's not the nicest looking restaurant, but it is one of the tastiest. The owner and staff are so kind, friendly and accommodating.
Reminded us of the traditional old Chinese restaurants in town. It's very quiet, low key catered to local folks. I can only give 4 stars cuz we only ordered one dish which was fantastic. They have extensive menu, mostly Cantonese. The dungeon crab dish was barely well prepared. Perfectly fried and seasoned. Staff were so friendly. We will definitely return with pleasure near future.
We decided to have lunch in Chinatown in Seattle. This really was just one of the first places we saw with table service. The interior was pretty unremarkable. Just a building with a few Asian wall hangings and lots of dragon statues and planters. The service was great. The woman helping us was very friendly and helpful. She gave us the lunch menu which was very affordable - - plates between $11.99 and $14.99. The lunch deals included steamed or fried rice, a choice of either hot and sour soup or egg flower soup, and your entree. We both ordered the egg flower soup and it was delicious. We also both ordered the fried rice, but it wasn't really fried rice. It was kind of like steamed rice with some vegetables in it. Not worth the calories in my opinion. The actual entree was enormous! I ordered Kung Pao chicken, and the serving was at least twice the size as most other places. Hubby ordered a beef dish and it was the same thing. And here's the kicker - - the entrees were almost entirely meat. I mean 90% of the huge serving of Kung Pao chicken was actually chicken. You have to applaud them for not getting chintzy on the meat! While we were sitting there, I looked at the door and noticed that the health department rating was not great. There are four levels with smiley faces, and the level of this restaurant was just an okay smiley. We may not have stopped here had we noticed that first. That said, the meal was delicious, and nobody got sick. So I guess it's all good!
We're there on Saturday after July 4th. Chinatown seems to be not crowded. We arrived at the restaurant around 6:30pm and it's not crowded at all. Waitress was helpful to tell us what special dishes they have. And we did order some of them. We ordered: Bitter melon with fish filet Beef tribes with daikon Steamed oysters with black bean sauce On Choi with salty shrimp paste Tofu with enoki mushroom. All dishes are delicious except the On Choi was a little rough. My favorite is the butter melon dish. They're slightly bitter and very tasty.

YUM. I always enjoy coming to this restaurant whenever I'm in town. It's such a good restaurant to come to with your family, however big or small. I always enjoy ordering their beef chow fun dry, pea vine sprouts with garlic sauce, and their fish fillet with sweet and sour sauce. SO yummy. There were plenty of vegetarian options and lots of meat and seafood options. It's hard to disappoint here with such a massive menu. The servers aren't super friendly and rarely check on you--if ever--but you come here for the good food more than anything else. The food also comes out super quick--it took less than 10 minutes it seemed for 3 dishes. I came in on a Saturday around 5:30 p.m. and it didn't seem too crowded. But as I left just before 7pm, a rush seemed to start coming in to fill the place up. The restaurant always provides yummy food and inside and out, is super clean. Also, for what it's worth, the restrooms here are really clean. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for good and fast food!

Ordered online to go and food was ready in a prompt manner. Seems like your typical Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, no frills but meets expectations. For most people, I feel that we find a Chinese restaurant and if we like it, we commit forever. I haven't had Fortune Garden and felt adventurous, was not disappointed in taste though I'd be interested in comparing value across the shops in Chinatown. They have some nice lunch combos, but sucks that they don't provide soup for takeout. Could substitute with a rice or something! Honey Walnuts Prawns - honey walnut shrimp is such a classic, easily one of my favorites from childhood and still near the top of my list. I don't know if it's the takeout container, but the quantity with respect the box was disappointing. Felt like there was less shrimp and walnuts compared to what I'm used to, but I think I also pay closer to $22-25 for the dish (the one here was $20). Minced Pork with Green Bean - now this was a hefty box, lots of green beans tossed with the classic XO sauce and a solid amount of pork. Honestly not much to comment on, this was a hearty dish and very comforting. Would recommend for green bean or string bean lovers. read more

While vacationing in Seattle we ordered Door Dash from Fortune Garden. Out General Tso's and Chicken with Green Beans was delivered warm. Each meal had enough servings for 3-4 people. So delicious and quick delivery, within a mile of the restaurant. read more

I am big fan of Peking duck since our fav place is only take out we wanted to try other places in chinatown where we dont have to get food in plastic boxes. Atmosphere is very nice and authentic. We got big table with rotating tray for just us two. Peking duck was good but because they put bao buns on top of the duck skin became soft and not crispy. That was a bummer because I love it crispy. We managed to get only some parts that were crispy. We also took beef with noodles and that tasted not so good. Noodles were overcooked. Beside that everything was average. read more

This is not your fancy Chinese restaurant but they have good food. Came here on 4th of July for dinner. A lot of their seafood options are not available but we were able to get Dungeness crab. Ordered ginger and scallion crab, black pepper beef and pea sprout. The only thing I was disappointed was the pea sprout. It's fresh but it's old. We expected young peas sprout but it wasn't. read more

The entire time my friend and I was dining, I don't think we said anything much other than "wow this is so good" or "Oh my goodness, how come we did't know of this place until now?" We ordered bunch of food and not a single dish disappointed us. The entire restaurant was very clean and neat, with everyone inside the store wearing masks and keeping social distance away from us. With hand sanitizers placed in multiple places, we could see how they are doing their best to make us feel safe to dine in. Service was amazing with kind smiles and quick food preps as well! read more

Personally my favorite Cantonese dinner spot in ID. Food are freshly made with 锅气, flavorful, good price with huge portion. Small family restaurant with pretty decent family style cooking, nothing fancy but really comforting. Recommend chicken wing, five spices duck and XO sauce fish chowfun. read more

Fortune Garden is one of several Cantonese restaurants in the Seattle Chinatown-ID area. For me, it's one of two top favorites for Cantonese food. Randomly, I rotate between them to spread my dollars. During COVID time, they are understandably take-out only. I either call ahead to order or I order in person and then do more shopping in the local area and return to pick up. The usual wait time is 10 to 20 minutes depending on how much you order and time of day. The food: Fuzhou Jade Tofu - 5+ Stars Jade Tofu (aka Japanese Tofu, aka egg tofu) is my favorite ingredient, and Fortune Garden does it right in my humble opinion. Velvety smooth, covered in a mixture of seafood bits, Chinese black mushrooms, and veggies (not frozen!), this is easily my favorite dish amongst Cantonese cuisine. Yum, yum! Big portion too. Green Beans with Beef - 5 Stars It's a bit hidden but there's actually a copious amount of beef mixed in with those green beans. The normal oyster sauce type of Cantonese flavor. Reliable and tasty. Generous portion size too. Seafood Chow Mein, soft style - 5 Stars With takeout dishes, I gave up on the HK style crispy pan fry style. It just doesn't work by the time I get home. Doesn't matter. Soft style is still plenty good. It's a heaping amount of noodles and big pieces of prawns, squid, and fish in this dish. Love it! Deep Fried Fish Fillet with Chili - 3.5 Stars Officially, the Chinese term for this dish is 避風塘, or Typhoon Shelter, which is a crispy garlic dish with chili and black beans. But by the time, I drive 25 minutes to get home. There's nothing crispy about it. So, I'm conservatively saying 3.5 stars and there's a chance it's much higher if eaten much sooner or in person. Well, not for a few more months unfortunately. I don't recommend this for take-out. read more

Was walking through International District and happened upon this place. Love it and will be coming back! The menu was ginormous, with quite a few vegetarian options. I ordered the Buddha's Delight (Vegetarian) Chow Mein. It was packed with veggies and the chow mein was not too oily. The portion size was amazing - lasted me two more meals (great bang for your buck)! I highly recommend checking this restaurant out if you're in the mood for some chinese food! read more

I am not sure how this place has so many decent reviews. We ordered takeout and didn't even get what we ordered (and what was received was some inedible chicken dish with terrible quality chewy chicken that could not be eaten). Even worse- they've decided that good presentation for FRIED FOOD is to put it on a bed of WET LETTUCE and now my egg rolls are soggy and look like they have warts from the UNNECESSARY MOISTURE. Absolutely not ok. read more
