Amazing Chinese American food. I bought several items on the menu for my staff. They loved it! I ordered 2 orders of the steamed buns (4 large buns to an order), 2 riders of the green onion pancakes, an order of Roast Pork Egg Foo Young, an order of Beef Chow Fun, and order or fried chicken wings, and an order of Shrimp Fried Rice. More than enough for 6 people! We were stuffed, and were ready for a nap. I like to order local when I can. The owner is a very nice guy. I try to order every few weeks or so. read more

I really enjoy this restaurant usually. Came to get my usual dinner order of shrimp with walnuts. Decided to order a side dish of bok choy with mushrooms. Upgraded to won ton soup, the broth was very good and loved the wontons. Got my order of honey walnut prawns. Unfortunately, there was piece of plastic in my food. Also, appeared to be a fruit fly in my food. Spoke to cook and he apologized for the unwanted ingredients. Unfortunately, he said he would take entree off bill and he never did. Was charged full price for food with unwanted plastic item. Disapointed over service provided. Usually get great food here. Seems kitchen needs to be more aware of quantity control. We have ordered takeout from here a couple times for dinner and for being the only Chinese restaurant in downtown Edmonds, it's not too bad! We were honestly very surprised. We've ordered the combo fried rice, honey walnut shrimp and the egg tofu stir fry dishes and they were all pretty good! You can order online or call in your order for pick up. Usually takes ~30 minutes or so. They can get pretty busy on the weekends. Will come back while we're still in the area! read more

My husband and I tried this place based on recommendations in the Edmonds Foodies group as we've been wanting to find a good "American" Chinese food place closer to home. We arrived at the nearly empty restaurant with its dark and dingy decor and were greeted nicely and seated quickly. There was only one other group of four eating there at almost 6pm on a Friday night. We ordered one of the family dinners and started with the hot and sour soup. To me, the soup was the highlight of the meal as it had good flavor and was not overly thick as some places make it. For the appetizer, we chose the pan fried pot stickers. My husband enjoyed them, though I thought they were ok as the outer shell was a little thick and extra chewy. The main courses are where our biggest disappointments lay. The chicken chow mein was flavorless. It tasted like mushy spaghetti noodles with a few vegetables in them. The Mongolian Beef did have perfectly cooked broccoli in it, but the beef tasted like very cheap meat, and sauce it was all served with was a bland, thick gravy. The Kung Pao Chicken also had lots of perfectly cooked veggies in it, but again, the chicken itself had a very odd texture to it that did not tasty good. It too also had this odd thick sauce that didn't taste quite right. In general, the service was nice and friendly. They appeared to do a decent amount of take out orders, but we were the youngest people that came in to the restaurant while we were there...and we are in our mid-50s. So if you still have taste buds, I would recommend you try someplace else. read more

My daughter used to take us to Furi when we visited her in Edmonds, but both her and her husband, as well as my wife and I moved to Mill Creek so we haven't been in years. Honestly, I have missed this place and we were in the area running errands around lunchtime... First off, it's nice to be greeted and seated by the owner! The lunch specials are very reasonable, and you get a LOT of food! I ordered the Mongolian beef, which was fantastic. It came with hot and sour soup (or egg drop) which was equally as good....and a large scoop of fried rice AND an egg roll. You won't walk away hungry... My wife ordered the General Tao's, and ditto to everything above - in fact, we both had enough for leftovers. This place is a real gem! read more

A little greasy. OK for leftovers, I might try another noodle dish if I went back. Walnut Shrimp. Medium to large shrimp in a creamy sauce atop shredded lettuce. It was OK. Pork with tofu. Not quite what I expected. Instead of being shredded, there were large chunks of pork, triangles of fried tofu, carrot strips and other veggies. Sauce was tasty. It reminded me more of Moo Goo Gai Pan than how I've had this in other places. I had to wait a few minutes upon arrival to pickup but payment was quick, with a handheld credit card machine. Lots of parking in a lot shared with Ace Hardware and Pancake Haus. I might go back if in that area. The tofu egg mushroom dish looked interesting in other reviews. read more

In short: An old-school (i.e., Americanized) dependable Chinese place that has probably cranked out thousands of plates over the years. Your grandparents would have loved it, and if you're in the mood, you will, too. Super friendly service and reasonable prices. In long: It's easy to see why they've held such a great rating, even if they're not doing much on the menu that nods to real traditional food. They're in a big supermarket parking lot with plenty of free parking, and there are plenty of tables inside. The decor runs to that red and gold pseudo-Chinese stuff from back in the day. It's friendly and homey, especially if you went to family dinners at the local Chinese place when Chinese food was still a hot new trend. You get water and hot fresh tea very quickly, along with a two-sided laminated menu printed in color. You get white paper napkins and forks before you even sit down. The tea was pretty damn good, and they have many other flavors on the menu. We checked out a little of everything from the old favorites. There are hot pots and a couple dim sum items, but mostly it's the greatest hits of Chinese food in America for the last 50+ years. BBQ pork This is the same dish at a lot of places you go, right down to the mustard/ketchup combo and dish of sesame seeds. They do offer nice thick slices, and I happen to like the stuff that all comes from the same distributor. One of these days I'll finally remember to ask for all mustard, no ketchup. Hot & sour soup My late mom loved this so much that both us kids have a lifelong love of it. This one is not amazing; it's a lot of thickener and not much seasoning, even with a red pepper next to it on the menu. We resuscitated it a bit with chili paste from the condiment jar on the table. Beef with chili beans Beautifully cooked--tender, decent flavor. Sauce was kinda thick but the vegetables were crunchy still. Ate every bite. Emptied the chili paste jar here and got more. Green beans So good. Fresh, flavorful, cooked just to done without going over. Decent amount of garlic. Juicy dumplings Not house made. Kinda like the frozen soup dumplings from Trader Joe's--which are pretty good for late-night snacks, by the way. Good with chili sauce. We were out the door for 5 plates and a generous tip for about $70. It's a little bit of a haul for us, or we'd come back more often. The people are so nice, and sometimes these childhood-memory dishes are a treat, especially when they're done this well. read more

This was our first time visiting this restaurant and have been looking for a new Chinese restaurant after ours had closed awhile back. The service was excellent. The food overall was good except the chow mein noodles had a bit too much. The barbecued pork was the biggest disappointment. It was quite fatty and at least $4.00 more in price than anywhere else we have been. And the other thing is that they should not be charging for rice. I stopped in for a quick Chinese craving/fix and was surprised at the menu - it has an amazing assortment of dishes, combinations, and appetizers to choose from. I made an order to go which was the Mongolian Beef combination which came with Egg Flower soup, Fried Shrimp, White Jasmine Rice and of course a fortune cookie. The food was wonderful! I grew up in San Francisco and we had many Chinese restaurants to dine at. I was so happy to see the menu at Furi and to soak in the Chinese decor and artwork in the restaurant. The restaurant team was polite and prepared the tender and perfectly spicy Mongolian Beef dinner in very little time. It is a short walk to the Edmonds Pier and Ferry Terminal where I watched the beautiful sunset. I highly recommend Furi for a great Chinese meal. read more

I've been looking for solid Chinese restaurants near where I live that don't cost an arm and a leg. For the most part, Furi delivers! I was surprised to be the only person there on a Saturday afternoon. The service was prompt and friendly. I had the hot and sour soup and the Chicken Chow Mein. The food was very good. I didn't know I could order the dinner special at lunch, which may have saved a little money. Still, $26 for lunch after the tip is a little spendy. Overall good joint, try them! read more

Yep it's me again! I'm out visiting in Seattle and my friend picked this spot for dinner. Let me start by saying it's 4 stars because I feel the lady took advantage of us (see the pictures of the rice and chicken plate) and keep in mind I wanted a little meal not these large servings. There were 3 of us and we ALL ended up with orders like this The rice is AMAZING!!! It was the best fried rice I've ever had, and I usually don't like my fried rice with peas and carrots. I also ordered the general Tso's chicken and I LOVED that the chicken and sauce were separated. Usually it comes together but I think I prefer it separate now. This is an area I don't get to often, that said, I had a really bad date here about 20 years ago, this lot looked to be the same lot, but it was an Italian restaurant we went to that day, and I didn't see an Italian place, but it was kinda dark and hard to see. The rating for this place is high, too high for a place I never heard of and now I can give you my unfiltered review. This place is nowhere near 4 stars, even 3 stars is generous in my opinion. Service was both fast and friendly, but the food was anything but memorable, at least in a positive way. The Hot and Sour wasn't hot, at all, and was really bland. It did wake up with a little soy sauce and chili sauce, but that was just heat and salt, it was missing that rich chicken broth bottom. I will say, most places give you about 4-5 ounces of soup, this place serves at least 8-10. I had the Mongolian Beef and ordered 5 stars. When I said 5 star the servers face brightened up like I had given them permission to make the dish the way it was intended to be made. When the dish came, I didn't see many chili's which made me question if it was 5 star. It wasn't even a single star. It's clear the kitchen completely ignored the 5-star prompt. This also wasn't Mongolian Beef, it tasted like teriyaki. It was so sweet, it ruined the dish. I know Becky from Edmonds can't handle heat, but the traditional way this dish is made it's hot and spicy, not bland and sweet. Again, the people could not have been nicer, but the meal was a huge letdown. I've been to Chopsticks up the street, and the meal there was much better. I had hoped to have found and underrated gem, but this place is probably closer to deli Chinese like Safeway, it's not real restaurant quality. This was seriously a 1 star meal, but everyone was so nice I'll give a bump for kindness, that said. It's time to infuse flavor in you menu. read more

Terrible service experience. Whatever you do, never visit or place an online/phone order with this restaurant on Christmas Eve (or any busy holiday). They accept way too many orders and cannot handle the backlog. I made the mistake of ordering by phone on 12/24/2023 at 5pm. They said the food would be ready in 40 mins. I showed up to the restaurant around that time and it was completely packed, with a line of people to the door waiting for pick up orders. It was nearly impossible to speak with any of the restaurant staff due to understaffing and communication barriers. Everyone in the restaurant was waiting for their order. The staff made it seem like they were working on my order, but after over an hour of waiting I decided to cancel my order if they hadn't started cooking it yet. After more back and forth, and disorganized chaos, I was finally informed that they had lost my order and I was waiting for nothing. They made no attempt to rectify the situation or even offer an apology. I left rather "hangry". read more

I live in North Edmonds, so Furi is kinda my 'local' when it comes to Chinese food. We eat here and get takeout from this place constantly. First, the overall(s): 1) FOH staff are great. Really kind people and genuinely happy when the customer is satisfied. I love that. It is so rare in any place nowadays; I often feel like the FOH staff at many places, now, are like contestants in some twisted version of the Hunger Games and they get very burnt-out as a result. These folks made us feel like we were coming to their house for dinner; it's really relaxing and a very family-friendly vibe. 2) The food is excellent. We've spoken several times with their Head and believe me, this man has skills. His home province is Guangdong but his background is Chaozhou ('Tiew-chao' in Cantonese). Therefore, his region's food incorporates some other stuff not usually found in Cantonese cuisine. He's got incredible range as a chef. His catered lunches and dinners for us were epic, including dishes such as the Jiangnan/Suzhou/Shanghai classic 松鼠鱼 (songshu yu, or "squirrel-fish") - whole fish butterflied, deep-fried, and smothered in a sweet-sour sauce with pine nuts, to 沙茶羊肉麻辣味 (shā chá yángròu málà wèi) - sate sauce lamb with MaLa flavor - a twist on a classic Taiwanese dish but with added spice not found in the original sauce. And everything in between. Furi also serves the classic Jiangnan/Northern breakfast or brunch foods (sometimes inaccurately called "Northern" or "Shanghai dimsum"). Salty soymilk soup (咸豆浆 - xián dòujiāng), sesame pastry (烧饼 - shāobǐng), Chinese donuts (油条 - yóutiáo), green onion pancake (葱油饼 - cōng yóubǐng) and of course the two Shanghai staples: 小笼包 (xiǎo lóng bāo) - pork 'soup-dumplings', and 生煎包 (shēng jiān bāo) - pan-fried pork bao. All are very good, although my wife makes the best 生煎包 so I don't order them often. ***** TL;DR - Excellent place for real, quality pan-Chinese food that hasn't been altered much to suit American tastes. Be adventurous and try some different stuff (or, if you know Chinese cuisine, ask and see if he knows how to make your favorites). Or, feel free to try their American Chinese menu because their General Tso's Chicken and Garlic Spicy Eggplant are excellent as well. read more

After living in this area for decades we finally visited Furi. The owners, staff and Chef are the nicest people, truly. The atmosphere is 1970s which is fine, also very clean. The food unfortunatly is ok, I rated this 4 star due to the staff. No need to go into what I ordered, will I go back, sure. Cost wise its inexpensive and supporting a family run restaurant is important so go visit, your Chinese food tastes maybe far different then mine. We ordered the garlic green beans which was decent, beef chow fun which was standard and had good pieces of velveted beef, honey walnut prawns which was good, but what stood out was the crispy duck.
