Recommend! Always love this place; great menu and lunch specials. Staff is super attentive. Plenty of parking and indoor seating.

We decided to give our local "old school" Chinese restaurant another try after new ownership began. We had gone to the old Fortune Inn for years and then the quality began slipping and they eventually closed shop (retired?). Now we see it open again and some comments on our local Nextdoor site said there's new ownership and the food quality is better than the old one. We had Orange Chicken, Cashew Nuts Chicken, Chow Mein Noodles with Chicken, Boiled Fish in Spicy Garlic Broth, Taro Dumplings and some Jasmine Green Tea for dinner. Overall, I love the locally owned small shop atmosphere here and the convenience to my home. The food is pretty normal American Chinese fare and served rapidly with healthy portions. I enjoyed everything I tried and can see they were doing booming take out business while we were there. The only employee I saw was the woman (with her two cute toddlers at the front area) who was hustling the entire time. I thought the food was normal tasting, not great but not bad. They could use some more staff to help out the lone woman employee we saw and a barrier between the front door and dining area so the diners don't get an Arctic blast of cold air whenever the front door opens (this happened a lot while we were dining at our table). I love supporting the local smaller establishments and give a big thank you to Fortune Inn for giving a small well-loved restaurant a second chance in Kenmore.

Food - 5/5 Service - 3/5 Ambiance - 4/5 As mentioned in below reviews, this restaurant recently had a change in owners so we decided to give it a try. One of my major missing in Kenmore area was good Chinese food. We either have to drive to Kirkland or Bothell. I am glad to have found this gem. The food was excellent. Everything we ordered was perfect. The spicy fried fish was probably the best I have had. It was not too greasy and had the perfect spice level. My 6year old found it spicy and yet kept asking for more :) The portions are huge. Just 2 dishes and it was more than enough for 3 of us. My only concern with this place was the service. There was only one person who seemed to be managing everything and had 2 kids around as well. They took some time to take order and then there were no follow ups :) The rice was not hot enough when served. Considering they just opened, they probably need some patience :) Overall a pleasant experience! Would definately come back again to try out other dishes as well!

I love the self serve sauces and the sambal is really balanced. It wasn't super hot and it gave the food a nice kick. It tasted house made and it wasn't sweet like the sambal bottle with the rooster. I love the mahi mahi and it's my go to. I enjoy the grill in the fish and the best part is the garlic and oil mixture that soaks in the rice. The beef is generous and we always have left overs. The cut is lean and the marinate is nice and sweet but not overly sweet where I'm feeling like I'm eating a teriyaki Oberto jerky. The slaw is always balanced and there is a unique ingredient which I can't pinpoint which makes it savory and unlike other slaw I've had which is super creamy and mayonaisy. The shrimp is always perfect and can't believe how generous the portions are. The best part is the fried garlic which are crispy and really enjoyable to eat after the shrimp. It's like the icing on the cake. The pad se ew was ok. I liked the balance of the sauce and the spice level. The chicken was a little overcooked in the stir fry. I felt the fried rice was bland and both the noodle and the rice seemed more like sides as opposed to the fish and meats which are the stars. No complaints and just observations. The service is always great and I appreciate the consistency each time, hard work, and community love that I see from customers, and take out orders. If I could suggest one thing. I would love a n/an option to pair with the food. I think the Athletic and craft beers infused with fruit or hop water would pair nicely with the food.

Delivery review In…read moreshort We finally started to satisfy our craving for kimchi fried rice, and theirs is excellent, as is the soup. A little expensive, but they have good specials. You really taste the spice if you ask for it. In long We've been talking about kimchi fried rice for 3 weeks, and finally got an order in. We're trying to cook at home more these days, but we opened the app and we were total suckers for the special. It was just a few bucks off, but when we built the order, it was 2-for-1, so we have an awesome pile of leftovers now. Showed up fast, still plenty hot. Kimchi fried rice Awesome chewy texture, great spicy tart kimchi flavor, savory fried egg on top with extra seasoning just on the egg. We got our 2-for-1 on the rice, and the portion is pretty big, so we will get at least 4 servings out of this. Tofu mushroom soup Ordered 4 stars, and there's actual noticeable kick to it, which not every place does. Excellent flavors. For $25, 2 little cups doesn't seem like much, so if I see that 2-for-1 again I might put it in on the soup instead of the rice. We're trying to think of delivery these days as a rare treat, and this place more than met the mark. We had a dozen other dishes in the cart before we could make up our minds, too. The whole menu here looks great.

The best thing to get here if you have a larger group of three to five people is the combo meals which include a variety of entrees with the side dishes that can fill you up. I grew up going here when there was a Lamont's Dept store there, hence the escalators inside to take you up to the huge book store and food court. You sit in the common seating for the community stage space. So my cousin eats the same thing here twice a week when he is in town from out of state: braised pork belly noodle soup. He raves about it and is the type of food I adored. So we finally got together to try it as his treat to us. All of us ordered the same thing so no menu pic! Actually there isn't much of a menu as they use the electronic screens over the counter for just pictures??? And the menu is a dingy paper menu off to the side. This is not the typical Asian restaurant as it's a counter run by two young white girls and I'm assuming a chef in the back cooking the food. Ordering was simple and pay at screen. Food came up fairly quickly but you pick it up in individual trays with condiments at the counter. There is really no service here so wonder about tipping beyond standard. We had to take our trays back up before finishing our discussion as they were closing and both ladies were sitting at the other end of the counter scrolling their phones without getting up or acknowledging us really. Yet it was close to closing so I thought this was very odd compared to most Asian restaurants with hardworking staff. The noodles were cooked good and a very tasty rich broth that didn't need the soy sauce packet provided but it did need the chili sauce given! Pork belly was truly tender and the fat cap melted in your mouth. Only a small bit of bike choy which could have been more robust like I'm used to elsewhere. My big complaint is so simple! Little plastic western style spoons! It's so hard to eat all this broth out of a huge ceramic bowl with these and either the plastic disposable Asian spoons or reusable plastic Asian spoons need to be implemented before I come back or I'll bring my own! Really a pain to deal with that without bringing the whole bowl to your mouth in public. After reading reviews of this location vs their brick and mortar mothership in Edmonds, this one gets dumped on because of what's perceived as rude or poor service and high price for experience. Yes this is a little high on price per the experience but not extremely so. And honestly the service and its format was not impressive but I didn't find them rude. Perhaps complacent and disengaged as it's just a counter job for this staff and not real table service etc. After looking at the Edmonds reviews, the product offerings are far more varied then this little food counter and it seems that there's is a gracious owner/operator there and better food and beverage options! I'd prefer eating there I think if it weren't for the fact that I can almost see this food court from our house. 4 stars is a bit generous but they executed a good pork belly noodle soup ultimately.

She gave my daughter a sample and we were sold; she had to have her own. Type of cuisine: Chinese, with dumplings, noodles, and rice bowls. A selection of bubble tea is also available. Ambiance: A "strip mall" like setting, Dumpling Generation is one of three or four eateries inside the building that hosts Third Place Books, and sits directly across the way from the stage and cafeteria seating area. The fluorescent lights above and linoleum floors below, while somewhat vanilla, still give a warm welcome, as the space is bustling with friends and happy faces. What I ordered: We ordered the Tomato & Egg Mixed Noodles ($16) - their signature homemade noodles with a tomato and egg sauce, plus edamame and cucumber atop. What I loved: My daughter devoured the noodles with eggs and tomato as well as the cucumber. I loved it, too, especially considering the coldness of the edamame and cucumber. Tasty and worked surprisingly well together. Why I loved it: The place seems happening with so many to-go dumpling orders. We stuck with the one item recommended to us, but would love to go back and try what they are known for. Cost: Average to high
