We happened to go on the first day of restaurant week so luckily we made a reservation because it got a bit busier around dinner time. The wontons were good, but the chili sauce was the star. It was numbing and a little minty feeling. It was really great over the fried rice, which didn't stand out to me but was good to pair the dishes with. The crab and pork soup dumplings were sooo tasty, I would definitely get them again. The prawns we got were also great, I really enjoyed the crunchy coating and extras that came with it. WOWZA!!!! We were looking for a reservation in short notice and was surprised they have one within the hour for a group of 5. We showed up with half our party since the rest of our group had a hard time looking for parking, but they sat us right away and didn't give us a hard time at all. The decor is cute - darker lighting with spotlight on their cultural elements. Not gonna lie, when a restaurant over emphasizes its Asian decor, usually I have pretty low expectations for the food since it will likely be Americanized. This place proved me wrong! Their menu was a mix of Cantonese dishes, Taiwanese elements, Shanghainese dumplings and noodles, and Szechuan mala flavors. We probably over ordered but seriously enjoyed all the dishes. From most to least favorite: - Ginger & Scallion Fish Fillets: Sooooo fragrant and honey. LOVE! - Typhoon Shelter Beef Short Ribs: The fried garlic seasoning is fantastic, usually seen with crab or seafood but with short ribs it was excellent and super flavorful too - Black Truffle Wagyu Fried Rice: A pretty big portion for the price! The aroma of the truffle was fantastic but not overpowering - Half Hong Kong Style Honey Roast Duck: Hard to find good roast duck in the US so was happy to see it in the menu, skin was crispy and flavorful and the sauce was authentic as well. A tad too salty if I were to be nitpicky which is why it's not higher on the list - Traditional Kurobuta Pork Soup Dumplings: Good but not standout, not the star of the show compared to places that specialize in dumpings - Stir-Fry Green Beans: A little bland, can skip The Hong Kong Style iced lemon tea is just okay, but it's hard finding one truly authentic around here. The truffle soup dumpling is the best soup dumpling I've ever had, which is saying a lot because I've been on a journey to try every dumpling house in the area. The dumplings are so fresh and soupy. They bring out dipping sauce but to be honest it takes away from the delicious truffle flavor so try at least one on its own. The cucumber wood ear mushroom salad is a bit spicier than most places I've tried but it's not a bad thing! I really like the seasoning that they use to marinate the cucumber. I would 100% recommend both dishes. The only bad thing about this place is the parking it's a bit of a fight to find a spot in the area but I think the food is well worth it read more

We've come here twice and had a great time both times! If you're looking for a Taiwanese place with dishes similar to Din Tai Fung but more affordable, more authentic, and less pretentious, Chiho is definitely your place. Their mixed basket xiaolongbao is super fun and all the flavors were great, but you can't go wrong with the classic pork. The beef noodle soup is my personal favorite, but the Dan Dan noodles were probably a close second. Great ambiance for this restaurant! Inside is very nicely decorated. It's also very clean and organized and has nice lighting. It would be a nice place for a date or a celebration. Unfortunately, the food was pretty average to me. We had their chow mein and fried rice and both were only okay. To be honest, their fried rice was one of my least favorite Chinese fried rice I tried in Seattle. The amount of protein was very small too. Maybe just 2 oz of meat? I ordered delivery and was a little disappointed by the dumplings coming in a paper container instead of plastic, like the fried rice I ordered. There was a loss of juice in the soup dumplings, flavor was still really good. The fried rice was really good as well. I was kinda sad I didn't receive any sauces with my order. No soy sauce, so chili oil. My overall delivery experience would have been better if the dumplings came in a better container. Service: fast and friendly service Food: our group wanted to try just throw everything on the menu so we try to get a large variety of everything. The only thing that was out was the roasted duck and that was kind of disappointing, but we were able to get just about everything else we wanted. We really liked all the stirfry and the fish dish and all the buns. They even had vegetarian options, though I would not recommend the vegetarian options if I was not a vegetarian. There's so many restaurants in Belltown so I'm happy when I get to try a new one out. Came here with a friend and loved the inside. The coloration and decorations made for a good vibe. We were seated immediately. I decided to go with a Prawn Chow Mein dish. I was surprised by the large portion! The noodle part of the dish was great and very tasty. Had the Happy Hour special of Mala Spicy Soup Dumplings and Dan Dan Chili Oil Noodles. Man is this good! Warning, it is a touch spicy, but I like spicy foods. The dumplings were excellent, but I might like the noodles just a little more. I also had a Chinese beer I have never had before called Snow, it went very well with the spiciness of the meal. I came in early to try the place during happy hour, so I cannot say how they are when busy. Service was quick and attentive. I removed 1 star because the food, while good, has the characteristically "two sweet" or Americanized flavor. I was most impressed by their lions head (pork belly meatball) which is made to order and fresh. But the soup dumplings (we got the variety mixed basket) was alright. The truffle flavor was unique and what I saw was raved the most about, but I didn't think the flavors paired as well as the regular pork xlb flavor. Sometimes the classics always are better. Especially with dough zone and din tai fung nearby I would expect higher of their xlb, but the chili wontons were pretty good. Slowly losing its luster....say it ain't so. Its not nearly as great (and it was really great) as it used to be. First, the Traditional XLB are not the same anymore. Still served piping hot, which is much appreciated, but bigger now and the wrapper not as delicate or thin as it used to be. Still, solid, just not what it used to be. Wood Ear cucumber was a big disappointment, early on the wood ear was plenty, this time there were maybe 3, maybe 4 at most, this was very sadge for us. The Fried Rice remains a favorite, very solid, tasty, albeit slightly saltier this time then usual. This would be a repeat to go order if I was near. Service was a bit more impersonal this time too. Not much eye contact, but food came in a very timely manner. Still tipped 20% but the "impersonalness" made me think twice about it. Hot and Sour soup definitely skip. Meatball was super tender, but as you had more of it, the sweetness got to be a bit much and overpowering. We left full and satisfied, but just not the same as early years. Came here for Seattle restaurant week and I think this is one of the best value sets. My favorite dishes were the truffle fried rice and the truffle cauliflower. The truffle is not overpowering and both dishes were super flavorful and I kept wanting to eat more. The portion size is also generous. The kung pao surf and turf was a close second. The prawns were so juicy and tender, but the steak was tough and kind of ruined the dish for me. The wontons were disappointing as the texture was a bit offputting: too soft and since they were all bunched together, they tasted a little mushy. The sauce was also not very flavorful, only notes of saltiness and spiciness. The XLBs were ok in my opinion. They had a lot of soup inside but not the most flavorful nor the best texture, but the mixed basket is unique. My favorite is definitely the mala XLB.
