this place was soooo good. be prepared for your clothes to smell because of all the boiling soup everywhere. there are plenty of freebies to keep your hair away from your face, freshen your breath, etc... it feels very luxurious (but tbh i would rather not have that and pay cheaper lol) i really liked the beef radish soup base. the radish gave it an earthy taste which made me feel very healthy we accidentally over ordered which was a bummer because we had some leftover. i wish they gave smaller portions of some of the sides (for example, we had so many quail eggs and i could've been good with less than half that amount). other than that i would definitely come back if i ever feel like balling out!

Chengdu Memory is my go-to spot when I'm craving hot pot late at night since they're open until 12am, which is pretty rare for hot pot restaurants around here. The meats and veggies are always fresh and high quality, and everything comes out quickly once you order. The servers are attentive and the service is fast, which makes the whole experience really smooth even when it's busy. I also appreciate the little details they provide for guests. They have hair ties for girls, glasses lens cloths, and even clothing spray to help get rid of the hot pot smell afterward. Those thoughtful touches really make the experience stand out. Definitely a great late night hot pot spot!

Chengdu's great! The first impression I had 4-5 years ago wasn't the best due to cleanliness and service. It's changed a lot, with the sauce bar having a decent variety of sauces and appetizers that are included. And no flies this time :) We ended up getting the beef/pork spiral, 2 seafood mushroom, 1 enoki mushroom, cabbage, konjac knots and 3 rice bowls. Total was 80 for 4 people, and it was the perfect amount for us. If you're looking for a break from the AYCE options, this is a great spot for some high quality meats and soup flavors.

The meat ring! MUST ORDER - such a fun experience

I have never enjoyed eating hotpot outside of home but this place is come back to in a heart beat. The selection of hot pot ingredients - especially the ring of meat felt so spectacular. The sauce bar had plenty to choose from and all the small little things like hair ties and bibs were so thoughtful. Do not pass up an opportunity to dine here! The ambiance felt like it could be a restaurant in chengdu!!

Chengdu is one of my favorite hotpot places in Seattle area. If you like spicy, this is the place for you! Food: This is not an AYCE restaurant. So you pay what you order via an iPad. With that said, the quality of meat is better than AYCE. I usually order the meat ring, occasionally the Wagyu (very creamy and buttery), quail eggs and other veggies like mushrooms, fried bean curds, tofu, etc. Meat could take a while to arrive if the restaurant is busy. So I advise ordering the soup broth and meat first. They also have a sauce bar with appetizers with an additional cost. While you are waiting, there's a snack bar and some other accessories for you to prepare your hotpot experience. Service: Granted Chengdu is often busy, they did a good job getting what we need. They give you an apron to avoid soup splashing on your clothes and remove empty plates promptly. Ambiance: It's a Chinese-themed hotpot. Be prepared that you will smell like that soup broth afterwards. Parking: There's a parking lot next to the restaurant. You will need to ask the front desk staff for a parking pass and park on designated sign.

Oh Chengdu my beloved!! My favorite hotpot place in Seattle to be honest, I don't know what about it but I just enjoy it so much. The ring of meat that you can order is just so practical and aesthetic! Such a good share between you and a group, good for pics and easy for everyone to grab. And a good amount for a good price I think. Everything is here, from hairties, to covers for your jackets so they don't smell like hotpot. Ahhh and refillable milk tea. One time I went, they kept topping me off. Not the last time I went though,, admittedly the last time I went the server was a little rude to us, but no big deal. We still got our food and she was busy I guess. Anyways, please come here! Good food, good vibes, fun freebies, lots of fun.

Felt very overpriced. The ingredients here were of the same quality as happy lamb. At happy lamb, it's all you can eat and you have a much larger variety. The apps, sauce bar was pretty good, but not enough to redeem the whole scenario. Service is great and quick.

Such a wonderful memory, hope they have some restaurants somewhere else too. Food is very good, with a lot of variety and service is exceptional. It is not a quiet place but not too loud either.

Grabbed some delicious hot pot with some friends before making our way to check out the dance battles. Although the restaurant was incredibly packed, the staff did their best tending to all the customers while also managing the tables in a timely matter. We ordered a ring meat platter of lamb and beef with other sides, such as vegetables and noodles. They even gave us complimentary icecream at the end of our dinner! The staff were friendly and nice, but the restaurant was just a tad bit loud and overstimulating for me with so much going on. They gave aprons and hair ties, as well as jacket covers to prevent stains. Overall I would probably come back again with friends.

What a cool place! Came here during October and the food well presentation wise was absolutely amazing!!!! Everything taste good, though I do wish there was more soup options but that's just me! We got seated very quickly, though we do have to call ahead of time so that we didn't have to wait for too long and the amenities were really nice I mean there was hair ties for those with long hair and a lil spray I guess to help with you not smelling like soup lol :). But yeah definitely worth the try!

Been to numerous hot pot places in the puget sound and this was very highly rated; The food was of high quality and portions. The service was very attentive and helpful. The ambiance was definitely that china town vibe but also clean, organized, and a dash of modern.

This is my nephew's favorite hotpot place so I definitely had to go try it out. We came at a good time because we were seated right away and after that, a huge wave of people came in. We got 1/2 non spicy and 1/2 spicy and omg the spicy is SPiiiiiCcccYyy. The meat was delicious but I love the treasure bag! Everything was flavorful! Staff were attentive.

Great hot pot!! SO MUCH FUN! And such great service. There are so many fun little things to do here. At the entry way, there are hair ties, clothes spray, little baggies for your phone, even NAIL POLISH to do your nails, and snacks! In the bathrooms, there's floss, mouthwash, and even lipstick!! They also cover up your jackets on the chairs so they don't get splashed. And they give you an apron too! LOVED the sauce bar. There were sooo many options from sesame sauce (my favorite), minced garlic, chili oil, vegetables and the best of the best .. fried SESAME BALLS (buchi). I am not going to lie -- the buchi was some of the best I've ever had. They kept rolling them out warm so you could tell they were fresh. They were not too sweet and filled well. AMAZING BUCHI. Now the hot pot was fantastic too. We got the pork broth and the spicy pork broth. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE SPICE. We opted for the mild and holy moly am I glad we did. I like to think I have a great spice tolerance (I can eat Samyang casually) BUT OH MY, mild was SPICY! I might recommend extra mild haha The spicy broth was good, but towards the end, everything started to get really oily. I wanted to eat more, but the oil slick on the soup really started to get heavy and made it hard to keep going If you want to have fun, ORDER THE MEAT RING! We got the meat ring with pork belly and beef belly. Both meats were amazing, but the beef belly was AMAZING. We also got fried tofu, an assortment of vegetables, and noodles. So, so good. At the end of the meal, we got ice cream. Overall, this hot pot place is so fun and delicious. I'D ABSOLUTELY COME BACK!!!

How busy is it at lunch on Saturdays?

Why is it called Chengdu Memory?

Cause you remember Chengdu when eating it. Duh.

Does this place check vaccination card?

No and effective 3/1 Inslee has lifted the vaccination verification mandates.

Is the only way to make reservations to call? Can you make reservations online?

I was told by one staff at the restaurant that if a party is more than 6 you can call to make reservation, but no reservation under 6 ppl.

Do they have all you can eat option?

No they don't. But their combo is pretty filling for 2 people and about same price as AYCE

How much per person? Is the price different from weekdays and weekends?

It's a la carte so depends on how much you eat.

    Is there any parking?

No, just street parking or paid lot next to the building.

Do they have any gluten free broths?

    Can I use the Alipay?

    Free parking available?

    There is only street parking

Does this place take reservations? If not, how long is the wait for weekdays/weekends?

They don't take reservations. I've been there a few times weekday and weekend, and we (5 ppl) never needed to wait. But we did go early like right before 6. I've seen the same party waited for the entire time we were there so like 45 minutes or so.… Read more

I had lived in Beijing for 8 years and spoke pretty good mandarin for a 老外 so I ordered for us. Our waitress, one of two sisters who ran the place, I call her 陈大姐, said to me, Wow, you can speak Chinese! You must be very smart! I replied, You must be very smart. You can speak Chinese! At first she didn't know what to say but then laughed. It was the beginning of a lovely relationship. However since the pandemic we had not been back. Perhaps yesterday we were in the spirit of celebrating the Spring Festival. We decided to go there. What a great choice! 陈大姐 by coincidence was working. She retired years ago. (Her sister opened another 老四川 in Bellevue but unfortunately has since passed away.) 陈大姐 immediately recognized us. She remembered our son and other family members who often joined us there. It felt like old friends getting together again. Unfortunately my wife and I were the only ones in our little group. It's better to have more people so you can order more dishes. We only got 4 dishes, 宫保鱼, 椒盐虾,干煸四季豆, 夫妻肺片。Gong bao fish, salt and pepper shrimp, green beans and "husband and wife lung strips"! Actually that's a beef and tendon appetizer. Everything tasted just like we remember. Well, the fish dish was wetter than before but still tasty. Flavors are authentic but a little toned down from the Sichuan food in China and in a few other local restaurants. The main flavor of Sichuan cuisine is 麻辣 or spicy numbing. It's not really so hot as it is numbing. Your lips tingle. Most people who didn't grow up with this aren't big fans. Their 水煮肉 or 水煮鱼 comes pretty close though. Leftovers with either of those and leftover rice plus whatever make the very best 烩饭, huifan! Just boil it. We arrived there early and there were just a few other customers eating. And they left soon after. So it was just us and a steady stream of delivery drivers coming in to pick up food to go. I would consider ordering on line like that but this food doesn't hold up well over the distance to our home. Although the interior had been remodeled since our last visit, the decor is fairly stark. Combine that with the location in a strip mall on the corner of Jackson and 12th, which has seen better days, ambience isn't a real draw. However if what you want is a very good meal at reasonable prices then you should go to the Sichuanese Cuisine restaurant in Seattle. (I prefer it to the one in Bellevue.) Too bad you probably won't get to meet 陈大姐。Now that we know the food is still great, we will return.

Since it is a small establishment, I am a bit hesitant to give it three stars, but it was underwhelming compared to what I had expected after reading rave reviews. The inside was very welcoming to me; it was homey, giving similar vibes to my grandma's home/kitchen. There is very limited seating. FOOD: The food is definitely fresh and authentic, but I think I just prefer stronger, bolder flavors. The food here was very light and had a sort of healthy taste to it? Pan Fried Dumplings (3.5/5) - The fried dumpling skin had a nice texture to it, and the filling was juicy. It was okay; I didn't have strong feelings about it. Pork and Chive Dumplings with Hot and Spicy Sauce (3/5) - From the name, I was expecting a stronger flavor. The sauce was on a milder, vinegary side, so I was rather disappointed. Xiao Long Bao (4/5) - Juicy and came out piping hot (as reflected by the steam blurring my photos of it). Probably my favorite thing from what we ordered. Would've paired nicely with some ginger, but I forgot to ask if that was available. Szechuan Beef Noodle with Soup (3/5) - A cleaner, slightly herbal type of broth compared to what I am used to. SERVICE: The person helping us was nice. I don't know if they were having an off day, but it took a really long time for us to receive our food, despite it not being busy. The prices and portions here are really reasonable. Note that they only take cash or Venmo payments. TLDR// Being transparent, I found this place to be a bit underwhelming, but maybe I came in with too high of expectations. I would still recommend trying it to see if it's your cup of tea.
