Was excited to see some Cambodian food options in the area and this seemed to be one of the more classic locations. We came for a late lunch on Monday. We didn't have to wait for a table but it was still a bit busier than I was expecting! We started with hay cung, a crispy shrimp/ground pork roll wrapped in fried bean curd. I wish there was a little more shrimp. The dipping sauce was almost like a combination of fish sauce and BBQ sauce. Overall, dish was okay, nothing remarkable. I ordered the Phnom Penh special noodle dry, which came with a small soup on the side. This had more of a Chinese noodle flavor to it. While it was tasty, the amount of protein was definitely lacking. My friend ordered the Samlaw Machou, which tasted almost identical to one of her favorite Vietnamese soups with a reasonable amount of veggies and protein and generous portion. I also got a hot Cambodian coffee, which tasted similar to Vietnamese coffee but slightly less rich. It was also on the sweeter side, so maybe it tastes better iced for the ice to dilute it a bit. The service was really great. There was only one person taking orders, waiting tables, and handling the bill and she was super sweet! The food also came out crazy fast. Not located in the best area of town, but the inside of the restaurant is quite nice!

Fire clean broth and fire food - so much protein! And I added the bok choy on top which added good crunchiness. It's super hearty and warms the whole body. Made me feel so energized after and not in a food coma even tho I ate so much. It was pretty empty when I came in and had plenty of seating. The servers are friendly and they come help out when needed!

I had their Phnom Penh Noodle dish again and it continues to be great! The noodles are delicious with the sauce and the seafood and meat with the dish is great. It was definitely fulfilled by the end of the meal. The service is great! The owner is nice, helpful, and funny. The food doesn't take long to make as well. The food is fairly priced I'd say. The ambiance is good! The place is nicely organized and clean and there's a decent amount of seating!

Really enjoyed our meal at Phnom Penh Noodle House! We ordered the Phnom Penh Chicken (SO good!!), Goo Nam Noodle, and the Phnom Penh Wonton Noodle, everything was flavorful, authentic, and super hearty. The chicken wings were definitely the highlight for us. Service was thoughtful and friendly, and the food came out quickly, which we appreciated. Overall a great spot & we would recommend and definitely come back again!

I wanted to support this restaurant because I imagine it has suffered with unhoused people sleeping at their front door and others on the block. We ordered veggie noddle soup and a red curry dish. Both were so so. Soup - not very flavorful. Curry - too sweet and served lukewarm. I would like to give them 3 for food and 4 for service. Location is a challenge.

#11 is the farther bowl. #8 is the closer bowl.

Arrived here on a rainy day and it wasn't too busy. It's totally family run as there seems to be a teen working and then there was a young child playing. I love when a family restaurant comes together. The restaurant is very clean. Staff is super kind. We ordered #11. Goo Nam Noodle and #9. Foursome Beef Noodle. I really wanted to try #17. Sa-gnao Jrouk Ktiss, but i definitely different have enough stomach room. I love that they use wide rice noodles. It's probably my favorite noodle. Both broths were delicious. I personally had the #11 and there was so much protein in it. It's very filling and the soup is rich. I couldn't eat it in one sitting. My only wish was that the noodle soup bowl was served hotter. It was at an acceptable temperature, but I do really enjoy my food extra warm, especially on a rainy day. I tasted #9 and wow the broth was declious. It was a little sour, but I really enjoyed that. I'd totally come back and try #17. It's on my list.

Food comes out very quickly. Got the Cambodian Satay noodle soup. Soooo good. Not spicy. Just very tasty. Might satisfy someone looking for phở. Lots of street parking. Also a bike rack right outside. Anyone who grew up in an Asian environment will feel right at home with the uncle's walking about. Seating areas are very clean and tidy. No loud music. Just the sound of people enjoying their food and conversations. Dawn was amazing. Made it feel extra homey. So friendly and helpful. Thank you!! Now it hurts to walk.

We arrived at Phnom Penh Noodle House a bit before 1 PM on Sunday to have some noodle soup for a brisk day. There was about a ten minute wait at that time. After being seated, we noticed that the restaurant has QR codes at each table to order, but the waitresses are happy to take orders in person as well. Since they don't supply wifi, that's my preference at any rate. Phnom Penh Special Rice Noodle ($16.95) - I believe this is Phnom Penh's version of kuyteav. Starting with the broth, it's very garlicky and herbal, followed by a somewhat strong fishiness and a milder porkiness. There's plenty of umami and it's also quite sweet with sugar. It's a transparent dark brownish yellow in color with plenty of oily bubbles floating on the surface. The broth is filled with plenty of thin rice noodles, cooked rather firm, but soften quickly in the heat of the broth. Lots of meat is included. There's a piece of squid that's soft and chewy, but not to the point of being overcooked and rubbery. There's ground pork, very flavorful, two fish balls, nice and bouncy, one whole shrimp, two slices of fish cake that are studded with flecks of black pepper, and finally two thin slices of pork. It's a lot of protein for the more voracious appetites. (4/5) Cambodian Sate Beef Noodle ($17.95) - This one's quite interesting. I believe they use the same broth base as above, but then add in a very generous scoop of their chili satay on top. The satay is actually cold when added, but it warms up when mixed into the broth. This adds an extra dimension of shrimpy and peanut umami, full of aromatics simmering in a chili oil base. When added to the broth, it's not too spicy at all. They offer a jar of satay near the other condiments to add to taste. When eaten by itself, the peanut flavors really come out and the heat level is quite a bit more. I'd say the taste profile is very similar to a Chinese shacha sauce mixed with chili crisp. For the noodles, instead of thin noodles, they use a much wider rice noodle. For some reason, the noodles come folded up and bunched together into thicker books. They are definitely on the more cooked side, so are quite tender and soft, although not mushy by any means. They then top the noodles with probably 8 or 9 pieces of thinly sliced beef, added in rare and cooked in the broth. Quite beefy and tasty. (4/5) For both dishes, they offer bean sprouts and lime wedges to add into the broth. The soup isn't hot enough to really cook the bean sprouts, so they remain raw and crunchy. Overall, Phnom Penh Noodle House offers some good noodle soups, excellent for the cold and rainy Seattle fall and winter. Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms

The restaurant is super clean and the staff are great. They have great menu options with appetizers, noodle soup (dry option available) and many more to choose from. For the noodle soup you can choose from egg or rice noodles, both come in thin or wide noodles. We ordered #1 Phnom Penh noodle #9 Foursome beef #18 Mee Katang crispy noodles and couldn't leave without dessert! Mango sticky rice

I've been craving katiew Phnom Penh and I finally got my fix. I'm very happy that this restaurant is still around. Very nostalgic because back in my undergrad years at UW, my friends and I would go to the original location every Wednesday for lunch. I always got the Loc Lac, Mee Katang or Phnom Penh Special Noodles. I also love the Samlaw Machou when sharing. I have to say the menu hasn't changed much and I hope they never do. This place has a very special place in my heart and the community. Please support them. They've gone through a journey and getting to re-open really help add diversity of cultures in the CID and the greater Seattle community.

I absolutely love this place. It's a small family restaurant that's been around for approximately 30 years. It shows in the attention to detail and the friendliness of the staff. I've gotten their noodle soups and other noodle dishes, however my favorite remains to be the Chicken Wings. They're super crispy, and the crispy crunchy ends remind me of chicharrón. The sauce is spicy yet sweet. I love my food scorching hot and the plate is always just that. The consistency remains the same every time. I go every Monday and the owners remember me and my order. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants. You will not go wrong

We got delivery so I can't speak to the ambiance. The service as far as I can note was good because everything was labeled and carefully packaged so it didn't spill or leak, even when the delivery driver tipped over the wings in the bag. The food was all delicious and they have lots of vegetarian (and vegan for some) options on the menu, which was why I chose them. Super tasty and would definitely go in person next time too!

So good! Came here for a super late lunch but they were really great and diligent even at the weird mid afternoon hour. I figured the cambodian tea would bsically be a thai tea but it's definitely different and distinct in a bery yummy way. The wings were also fantastic - sauced but still crispy in a flavorful, texturally fantastic way. And the foursome beef noodle was rich, warming, and so soothing. Great noodles, meat, and broth.

I am showing my age by saying the restaurant is VERY LOUD, and our table was in a very dark spot in the restaurant. Oddly, they didn't have enough table lamps for all the dark tables. Our server said they "ran out". How does that happen? I stalked a departing table to take their rechargeable lamp. Anyway, my expectations were likely too high going in, and I was annoyed before even ordering, turning on our cellphone light to read the menu. The food is pretty good, though not mind-blowing good like the reviews suggest, and we had one bad dish. They offer varied Khmer dishes beyond noodle varieties, which is a plus. Go if you are looking for variety, skip the fish, bring ear plugs, and hope you have a brighter table than ours. They paired surprisingly well and a unique dish to try. kroeung kumeraage, $15 - 4 Stars This dish has an option of fried chicken or fried mushrooms. We chose the chicken since we already had mushrooms. Kroeung is the Khmer seasoning. Our server said this dish and papaya salad are amongst the most popular. Since we have a veggie dish, we chose this over the papaya salad (which looks great, too). The chicken is lightly fried, not crispy outside, super tender, and paired well with the kroeung aioli. trei chmouy tuk tei omperi, $40 - 1 Star The menu says serves 2 but not really. The menu doesn't say so; the server didn't mention it. Luckily, by this time of the meal, we have acquired the little table lamp, which enabled me to see the long fish bones that had not been removed. FIVE of them. The noodles are a pathetic overcooked limp pile. The best part is the turmeric sauce. Do not order this dish. Epilogue: I happened to walk by Sophon this past weekend. I was surprised to see a sign saying they are temporarily closed to resolve internal issues. (See photo) That is never a good reflection of management. The pork was tender and was nicely complemented by the slightly tart apples and floral plum sauce. The buns were light and fluffy and the green onion and cilantro provided a fresh herb taste. I think that $4 per bun is pretty standard price wise for two buns of this quality, and they service a pleasant appetizer. Village Bowl ($16): The Village Bowl is a vermicelli bowl that has all of the fixings - serves as a nice sampler into the types of meats that the restaurant has to offer. It was delicious! The meats were not too heavily salted, flavored well, and were cooked nicely. Portion-wise is decent and would maybe fill most people up. I think that maybe a little larger was would be perfect as I still left a little bit hungry after this bowl and an appetizer. I would say that Meekong Bar is pretty solid if you are looking for Vietnamese food in the SLU/upper belltown area. I think the thing that Meekong Bar has going for it is mostly the price, as other Vietnamese restaurants in the area charge much more ($4 - $6 more) for the same dishes. I would definitely come back to try the other options that this restaurant has to offer.

I suspect they are a family business with mom as the cook, plus a son and a daughter as servers, which was the case on a quiet Sunday. The son as the server was bubbly and amicable as I asked questions about popular and favorite dishes. The food is excellent and flavorful, with plenty of leftover foods. Parking is readily available along the streets. The Food and Drinks: Beef Loklak Rice Plate, $20 - 5 Stars This is a hardy dish with flavorful pieces of beef, a fried egg, fresh greens, rice, and a bowl of soup. This dish by itself is a substantial meal. With the sides dishes we ordered, half of this went home. Lort Cha or Fried Pin Noodles with prawns, $20 - 4.5 Stars Available protein is seafood or beef. I requested prawns only, which they accommodated. Served with a side of fish sauce in a squeeze bottle, the server said to apply all over the dish. He also said this is his favorite dish. The food has very good wok hei like a Hong Kong noodle dish. I had plenty of noodles left to make a second dinner after adding veggies and protein. Beef Skewers, $18 - 4.5 Stars Five good size skewers with a dallop of pickled veggies. The seasonings are very distinctive. Oddly, the flavor reminds me of some Chinese style beef jerky. In any case, these are smoky, savory, and yummy. Papaya Salad, $16 - 4.5 Stars They use all the real, authentic ingredients here, including bits of tiny baby crabs. Be careful if you have sensitive gums. Sugar Cane Juice, $7 - 3.5 Stars I would think sugar can juice are all quite similar, but they are not. I didn't like theirs as much for some reason. It was a bit murkier. I probably won't order this in the future. Coconut Coffee, $7 - 5 Stars Our server recommended this. Coconut and coffee sound weird together, but this drink is a winner. Very unique, a touch of sweet, potent like a Viet coffee, and very distinctive. Thumbs up. They are probably closer to 4.5 Stars. Rounding up to support a family business.

We got the Phnom Penh Kuy Tiew, Seafood Lort Cha, and Beef Skewers along with Sugar Cane Juice and Mango Smoothie. My Seafood Lort Cha was delicious. It was a bit oily but having it with the fish sauce combated it. The pin noodles were so much fun and bouncy to eat. The sugar cane juice was also refreshing and it was just freshly squeezed in front of us. My sister enjoyed her Phnom Penh Kuy Tiew, it had a rich pork broth similar to eating babaw. The Mango Smoothie probably wasn't as fresh though. I didn't taste it but my mom thought it wasn't. Lastly, the beef skewers. They were not as good and seemed a bit old tasting? The meat was a bit tough and the texture seemed off. I was satisfied with my dish though and might come back if I'm ever in the White Center area again to try their Nom Banh Chok Buffet.
