This Vietnamese restaurant is just around the corner from the REI flagship store, between South Lake Union and Capitol Hill. I had Cơm Vịt Quay, Roasted Duck Rice. Steamed, broken rice served with house-made pickled mustard greens, pickled jalapeños (unlike any I've had before, less sweet, more sour, not too spicy), cucumber, a tasty sauce, and a bowl of delicious broth. The staff were friendly, attentive and the dish was served very quickly because it's been slow roasted. I ate almost every morsel!
I've been to the original location in Tacoma a few times, which is a bit of a drive. I was really excited to see them open one in Seattle, and I finally made it out today. Inside is very big and spacious, with a lot more seating here. Service was friendly and attentive, made the overall dining experience welcoming. Food wise I'm sad to say, I don't think the meat quality is quite the same.. We ordered the roasted pork rice plate and combo meat plate. The meat was cold and more on the dry, chewy side. Tacoma is always consistent so I came in with the same expectations. We also ordered the eggrolls and salted crema coffee. Eggrolls were a little bland, the fish sauce carried in flavor. I liked the coffee a lot, the crema had the right amount of saltiness. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be coming back to this location, at least not for a while.
The staff are so kind and attentive and I like the menu concept. The roast duck was well made but unfortunately the noodles were so dry and flavorless.. The broth helps but there is this strange aftertaste on the tail end of each sip that is offputting for me for some reason :( I wish the noodles were higher quality, more flexibility with a chewier bite would do sooo much for this dish. At the very least I wish they tasted like something, the noodles were sort of cardboard-esque. They do takeout very nicely, packaging the soup and noodles+duck separately. All in all, because of the duck and the lovely service I can rate it 4/5.
This place is so good! They are fairly new and in the Cascade area, which is a nice addition to the neighborhood. We came around 1pm on a weekday and it was fairly busy inside, but we were still able to get seated immediately. I got the combo rice plate, and my friend got the combo noodles. It came with a very generous portion of bbq pork, roast pork, and crispy duck as well as a side of soup. The soup was so clean and tasty! All the meats were very well done, and I loved how there were sauces to dip them in as well. Overall, such a delicious spot! Highly recommend coming here.
Love this spot! We found easy street parking on Sunday right across the restaurant. The restaurant is spacious and has a nice ambiance. Staff is friendly. High chairs are available for the little ones. The food was so good! - imperial rolls - these actually came last so we were already kind of full but piping hot and tasty - combo meat and rice platter - our favorite! All of the meats were perfectly seasoned and cooked so good! - combo soup noodle - my 1.5 year son loved the noodles! Broth was flavorful and meats were tender! So tasty! - mango smoothie - very refreshing with the meal. Overall, such a wonderful dining and meal experience! We will definitely be back again!
A gem in SLU. I was walking around the area and stumbled upon this place while looking for a coffee shop. The food here is spectacular. Duck is moist and their pork belly is crisp. My favorite is the eggrolls!! Crispy and full of flavor.

Second, the food is so incredibly flavorful that I can't even begin to describe it! We ordered the combo noodles with duck, pork, and chicken. The broth was packed with deep, rich flavor, and the noodles were perfectly al dente--that slight bite and crunch to them made the dish absolutely perfect. A special shout-out to our server, Athena, who was as sweet as can be and provided the most efficient service. Highly recommend! Almost forgot !! salted cream coffee ten outta ten
My hubs and I had a late lunch at Tho on a Tuesday around 2pm and it was absolutely delicious. First, it was a super hot day so it was nice to have lunch in an airy restaurant with open windows and very high ceilings. Tho is quite spacious and we enjoyed how tables were spaced nicely apart. Our waiters were all very welcoming and friendly. They checked on us a few times but not too much. They answered our questions about the menu and were good about asking if we needed more water or anything else. My hubs had the Combo Rice plate that came with roast duck, roasted pork, and BBQ pork. I had the Roast Pork Rice plate. The roasted pork was a pork belly that was tender, savory, and came with a super crispy skin. It was the best roasted pork we had ever had. It came with a dipping sauce but we both agreed it didn't need it. Our dishes came with steamed broken rice which was soft and delicious. I don't get broken rice much but when I do, I really enjoy all its carby goodness. Our dishes also came with a side of clear soup chockfull of green onions and cilantro. I don't usually eat soup, I'm a dry food kind of person, but the soup was so good, I drank it all. Found out later from our waiter that the soup is made from pork bones. Figures. Bone broth is delish. The owner came round to check in on us and see how we liked the food. He was so friendly and gracious and we let him know that we loved the food. We saw that he went to every table to check in which is such a nice touch. Bathrooms are down the hall and to the left. There are men's and women's separate bathrooms. We really enjoyed our lunch at Tho. We want to return on a weekend to try their roasted chicken, a seasonal dish that isn't always available on weekdays. Tho is a great new addition to the South Lake Union area and we look forward to coming back!
Clearly I've been under a rock not being aware of their OG spot in Tacoma since 1997. Therefore, I'm glad to have visited their second location in Seattle's South Lake Union {7/21/26). Minimalist interior with high ceiling. A good sign to see roasted meats onsite, expertly prepared and served. Lovely table service, very poised and informative demeanor from the owner and other waitstaff. Big enormous bowl selected, Combo dry noodles w/ the three meats: charsiu, crispy pork belly, and roasted duck. Plus pickled veg like carrots, dailkon, mustard greens & baby bok choy, jalepeños, and accompanying sauce. I also added crispy Imerial rolls, which came with pickled veg & dipping sauce. Packed rolls, piping hot, crisp, and full of flavor. Glad I showed up with this as first meal of the day. Despite that, I still had to ask for takeout containers. My boxed up leftovers also enabled The Homie to sample the quality entree and app. He was indeed impressed with the food brought home. This awesome find has been open for about a month in a half. Sure is popular with most tables filled by 1130 on a weekday! I consider this like a mash up of Gao Lhao and Ba Bar. Modern spin on Vietnamese and Hong Kong cuisine makes for return visits to work through their menu.
went here for a Yelp Elite event. The star of the show, the pork, was unfortunately sold out by the time I got there. So i got the duck instead. The waiter was very nice, the place was filled and looks spacious. I would come back to try their pork! The duck itself was okay, I've had better. The meat tasted just boiled and bland but the skin was good. For the price being charged, I wish I had more meat. There is visible homelessness in the area - they kept to themselves. I parked for 20 minutes during the day and a busy time and felt safe / had no issues. Overall recommend you give their pork a try - I'm sure it's good!
This is a second location for the Hong Kong Vietnamese fusion restaurant that has been a beloved Tacoma staple for 29 years. Kevin Ngo, the son of the Duck King himself, has taken up the torch for his family's culinary legacy in SLU, Seattle. He's adapting the menu and style of the Seattle location to fit the needs of the community, and is even partnering with local organizations to lift spirits with his delicious menu. This location has already added a tofu noodle dish for the vegetarians! Fresh ingredients, dishes are scratch made (daily), and MASSIVE portions... Closed Mondays, Hard stop at 5:30 or until they are SOLD OUT! And they DO sell out so don't dilly dally! Whether you get the noodles, Bánh Mì, or Bánh Hỏi, the portions are MASSIVE, incredibly fresh, and DELIGHTFUL! I felt really bad for my friend who couldn't try the pork because it was SO GOOD. But she was super happy with the duck and their homemade fish sauce! And duck is what this place is known for! Don't tell anyone, but they are working on a Tofu Char Siu! AND they are converting their upstairs loft into a Mahjong Mezzanine Speakeasy! I was promised they WILL have spirit-free cocktails when the speakeasy is ready! That will be a VIBE!! I CAN'T WAIT!!
Meat quality was good and portions were abundant! They didn't skimp out here and I appreciate it. Taste and quality meat was great, even for take out. My Vietnamese Chinese parents even approved it ! For how much it cost and how much you got, definitely great value these days. Excited to come back and have more.
Went to the new location in Seattle and it was really good! I got ten noodle combo and my girlfriend got the rice combo. Both were very good and tasty, and it was a great portion of food that I had extra to take home. The inside is nice and clean with a variety of sauces and chopsticks at each table. The service was welcoming and efficient and were very kind.

Delicious Vietnamese-Cantonese hybrid BBQ coming from Tacoma. The inside was pretty spacious, good amount of seating. Service seemed friendly around all the other tables though they didn't talk to me much as I dined alone. Mi Thap Cam (Noodle Combo) - I was shocked at the sheer amount of food. While I can put away food, this had me feeling pretty full which is a good indication of quantity and value. A bed of meats sit on top: flavorful BBQ pork, crispy roast pork, and a juicy duck leg. Tucked away are egg noodles with fresh vegetables and pickled vegetables. My only critique is the roast pork can be crispier, as the skin was on the softer side. Duck and BBQ pork were some of my more flavorful experiences and I've had a lot of Canto BBQ. Mango Coconut - I didn't even get a chance to drink this in store because I was busy devouring the scrumptious meal. I started drinking on my walk to Cap Hill and was very pleased. Sweet mango makes up the majority of the flavor but the coconut makes it refreshing. It's very smooth, blended well, and perfect on a hot day. read more

This establishment was about .03 mi from our Hotel (Marriott), which took less than 15 minutes to walk. We both ordered the BBQ Pork dish with rice. Food was excellent. Also, the service is impeccable. Serves are so friendly, helpful and attentive. If you are in the mood for BBQ Pork, this spot definitely is the place to go! read more

Amazing food! Tho is a Cantonese and Vietnamese restaurant. Cantonese - using barbecue or roasted meats with Vietnamese style rice or noodles. One word to describe the experience: fantastic! Barbecue meats such as duck, roast pork and barbecue pork are all so good tasting, tender, moist. The mix of these barbecued meats with either rice or noodles really go well. They are so good. The dry noodle combo I ordered had lots of pickled veggies that goes well with the dish. They have a great tasting combination. One thing to note, servings are so generous but I devoured the plate! We also ordered another combo with 3 barbecue meats and rice noodle. It was a pretty plate. Again lots of fresh veggies. Nice corner restaurant next to lots of coffee shops and condo units. While dining, people kept coming in. Mostly dining in and a few who did to go. Thank you @tho Seattle and @YelpWashington for the opportunity to check out this new restaurant. We will be back and discover the other amazing dishes they offer. They had a seasonal drink Mango Coconut which one should try. All mango goodness and no artificial flavors. read more
Had a really fun meal at Tho in SLU! The brand has been family-owned for over 29 years in Tacoma, and Kevin, the owner, shared how his love for food inspired him to open this new location in SLU. It was really cool hearing the story behind the restaurant, especially seeing how much passion he has for the food and the family business. Tho serves Vietnamese-Chinese fusion dishes, including roasted duck, BBQ pork, roasted pork, Vietnamese noodles, broken rice, and soup dishes. I got the combination trio with both the rice plate and wet soup, and the portions were generous. The meats were meaty, well-seasoned, and not overly salty, while the broth was incredibly flavorful and umami-rich but still refreshing. The service from Kevin and Malcolm was fantastic, and the restaurant has a modern, fun vibe. I had to take my food to go this time, but I'll definitely be back to enjoy a meal in person next time! read more
I went to the Tacoma location (flew into SeaTac from CA and then would drive to Tacoma). That is how good their roast pork, duck, BBQ pork is. Was so happy that they opened in Seattle. It's more gentrified than the Tacoma location. Street parking is easy. I've eaten here three times already. Friends have gotten the threaded noodle combo, rice combo, and I can't seem to get anything else other than the combo noodle bowl. It's so good. Price is reasonable but you get so much food. I can never finish my noodles so it's two meals, TBH. Service is good. My only complaint is they don't have reg Vietnamese coffee and egg coffee has not been available twice now. Wished they were open past 5pm for dinner. read more
Tho Tuong BBQ in Tacoma has been on my to try list forever. I was so excited when I saw that they were opening a second location near my neighborhood in SLU. I visited after the lunch rush and was greeted and seated immediately. The servers were very attentive and refilled my water any chance they got. I ordered the Mi Thap Cam dry style and the first bite immediately transported me back to my childhood. The bowl was filled to the brim with bbq pork, roasted pork, and roasted duck. The noodles were lightly seasoned with sauce on the side for you to dress to your own liking. There were blanched bok choy, pickled carrots, daikon, and jalapeños which added a bright and tangy contrast. The soup on the side was light and the perfect accompaniment, balancing the richness of the bbq meat and noodles. I am beaming with excitement writing this review. I haven't been this impressed by a restaurant in a while. I can't wait to come back and bring my family and friends here! read more

SO glad they have a Seattle location! I used to go to the Tacoma location all the time growing up since I lived down there. Haven't been in many years since moving out and very pleased with their South Lake Union location. There's decent amount of street parking and lots of seating. Service is very friendly. We went during their soft opening and they were still ironing out kinks but still had a great time. Overall vibe is cozy and modern. I ordered the mi thap cam (noodle combo) with broth on the side (so I could dip the noodles in the broth without having my meats get soggy lol). Everything was so good, just as I remembered. Crispy af roast pork and duck. Super flavorful barbecue pork. Noodles cooked perfectly and broth was very tasty. Definitely coming back since I live up north now. read more

Immediately greeted with a smile which isn't the norm at Asian restaurants. I had to try this spot out cause I heard there was a huge cult following at their Tacoma location. First off the portions are huge I could probably share 1 bowl of noodle with another person. My sister and mom got the banh hoi, my dad got a rice bowl and I got a noodle bowl. The charsui really stole the show for me. parking may be harder on a busier day but overall a great experience! A must try for duck lovers. read more
My friends and I came to visit not very long after they opened this location, and we ordered the Bánh Hỏi as well as the duck noodles. After a while, it seemed that they forgot about our order of the duck noodles. We decided to cancel the order because we were actually getting full off of the Bánh Hỏi anyways, but the staff was very apologetic and had boxed up some duck for us to try. My friend took the meats home, but the flavor of the duck in the Bánh Hỏi from what I can tell was very good and flavorful. I will have to come back soon because I still am wanting to try the duck noodles hehe read more
In terms of food in the SLU area, it's a 4 star. But really it's closer to a 3 star if comparing food to its sister store in Tacoma (which in my opinion is a lot better). This does have more seating and more spacious/modern interior. Checking in was quite unorganized. Theres a list to put your name down but no one came by to check on it for 15 minutes. I got the rice combo with 3 types of meats. Portions seemed smaller than Tacoma location. Roasted pork was nice and crispy and not too salty. I was expecting duck slices and not the leg, which is my least favorite part and it was so extremely dry without much meat on it. If you buy the meat by the pound, I think the prices are pretty comparable or even cheaper than Chinatown which is nice. Hopefully the organization improves with time. read more
Came here after a workout and was pleasantly surprised. Seattle can be hit or miss when it comes to Vietnamese food, but this spot delivered I ordered the duck and rice plate. The duck was juicy, flavorful, and cooked really well without being overly seasoned. The mustard greens helped balance out the richness of the meat, and the soup on the side tied everything together nicely Service was great too. My water was refilled without having to ask, and the staff checked in regularly throughout the meal My only suggestion would be to add a few more vegetarian or vegan options to the menu. Other than that, I had a great experience and would definitely come back with friends read more

Great portion sizes and one of the most delicious authentic Viet BBQ spots in the area. Went on a weekday afternoon for late lunch and was seated immediately. Friendly and efficient staff, and they chop the meat right at the counter at the front. Truly impressed with the quality and portion of the food. Accompanying veggies were fresh. Interior of the place was clean and modern. Street parking was plentiful when we went. read more
We had such a great experience at Tho! The Cantonese noodles were so good. The crispy pork had the perfect crunch, the BBQ pork was incredibly flavorful, and the rice was simple but cooked perfectly. HKG BBQ is one of my favorite things to eat, especially if it's done right. Love that charred flavor with skin, while still moist and tender inside. The roasted meats---crackling roasted pork, char siu and toasted duck are hanging in the center of the restaurant. Tho definitely does it right and combines it with Vietnamese style of eating. It surely is a winner. The woven noodles are quite fun to have, a unique way to present vermicelli noodles and interestingly flavored with green onions. My wife had it with the egg noodles and the broth on the side. The fresh veggies that come with it are as fresh as they come. The assorted pickled vegetables---cucumber and jalapeños were equally tasty. For the price you pay on the menu, the servings are quite large. I should have taken half home, because I was satiated for sure. The menu is limited, but if you do the best of the little things you do...that is just fine with me! The service is super friendly and accommodating. Very knowledgeable staff for sure. The space is bright and large, with high ceilings with simple, Asian decor. The tables are spaced comfortably. Not sure if parking is tight, but there is street parking. The restaurant is situated in a residential part of South Lake Union---a little off the beaten path. And if I can make one suggestion, the long hallway going into the restrooms need a little tidying and sprucing up. The restrooms themselves are clean, modern and updated. But leading to it needs some TLC. Overall, it doesn't really detract from the good food and the good service. I would definitely come back to enjoy their food. Price point is reasonable. read more
Great addition to the neighborhood. I ordered the special, which came with three different meats. Everything tasted very fresh, and the duck was the standout. The staff was attentive and welcoming throughout the meal. I stopped by on a hot summer day around lunch, and they had the front doors open. I had a great experience. read more

NOTE: this review is for their soft opening as of 5/23/26, so current experience here may not reflect an accurate one after their grand opening on 6/1/26. This Viet BBQ place first opened in Tacoma to rave reviews, and my recent IG feeds have gotten pretty excited that it's finally made it to the Greater Seattle area, so I wanted to pay here a visit. I scored free street parking after 6pm near Thomas St where this place is located in South Lake Union, just opposite Cafe Hagen. Interior feels dull and unfinished, and there's not much going on besides the fancy lights above the ceiling and the appropriately lit-up kitchen area where you can see some of the meats hanging behind glass with lights, like what you'd expect from similar places in Chinatown. Throughout this visit, staff reminded me and all other customers that they were out of chicken, duck, and bao buns; they even ran out of everything 7 minutes before their closing time at 7pm and had to turn some guests away! One staff member told me a lunch rush earlier in the day was responsible for the duck being sold out, so that's good to know if you're planning on coming during their soft opening. Staff overall were very attentive with answering questions, refilling water, and asking how I liked the food, and they did so with all other patrons too. I chose the roasted pork rice lunch box as my dish for this visit. This comes with roasted pork, steamed broken rice, pickled mustard greens, jalapenos and a bowl of soup, and was $18 before tax. This looks small but you can get pretty full with everything on here. There's also sauce on the side which I used for my roasted pork, which was crunchy and salty on the skin, and tender and juicy in the middle. Meat cuts are aesthetically pleasing to the eye in presentation, kinda like how other meat parlors in Chinatown organize their boxes when you order their meats. Veggies on the side balanced the saltiness of the meat and the soup. Overall a pretty great place to open up in this area! It is still currently in their soft opening as of this writing, and will have their grand opening on 6/1/26 according to signs on both of their entrances. I actually still prefer the meat places in Chinatown over here mostly because of distance but their meat cuts hit and I'll come back to try their roasted duck when their grand opening comes! read more
