Smoked Chicken (Per Pound) and Smoked Jalapeno Mac and Cheese
    Ryan T.

First time today and it was a beautiful day for it. We got in an hour after they opened so while there was a short line it moved quickly and there was plenty of seating. I had the 1/2 chicken with a side of the jalapeño mac n cheese. Lately I've been more into the chicken at BBQ places because the less fatty meat lets the delicate smoke shine in my opinion. Anyway! Delicious chicken. I tried both the standard spicy sauces and both were good but to be honest the chicken was fine without. The jalapeño Mac n cheese was recommended by many - if you are afraid of spice please try it anyway- the jalapeños fresh vegetal flavor is great and cuts the richness of the cheese sauce without adding a big kick. Anyway next time I'll try the brisket or the ribs but today I was very satisfied and even took a lil bit home for later.

VEGETARIANS BE WARNED! This place has delicious slow cooked BBQ meats! You order at the front counter and take a number. You then find a seat at the large covered and heated patio. Their specialty seems to be pulled pork and brisket. I did not see and ribs on the menu. They have beer but no wine. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I will say the brisket chili was a tad too spicy for me and the coleslaw could use a pinch of sugar. My pulled pork sandwich was delicious, and I found myself discarding the bread and devouring the pork mmmmm. Oh , and the patio is dog friendly! So bring Fido! Especially if you're on your way to or from The Boneyard down the street! Cheers!

First off, the service was great. I have tried a lot of BBQ's from different places but this place SUCKs!!!. I ordered a slab of ribs and I knew it wasnt good just by the way it looks. The texture was dry n it just didnt hit right. The chicken was terrible like it was microwaved n added liquid smoke. Overall everything I ordered was below my expectations and the condiments were nasty too. The pickle was too salty n the red onion was too sour. The ambiance is nice, a good place to grab a few beers with the fellas, just stay away from the food.

Slightly pricy but reliable food option around the Central District area. I went here for lunch and got the brisket sandwich which was $17+tax, a bit steep given the okay-ish portions of brisket, but certainly a better deal than getting a half pound of brisket for $20+tax which does not even come with any sides. The brisket sandwich has nice buttery toasted buns along with decent quality brisket (a bit on the drier side, and I wish the brisket had better integration of meat and fat since it resulted in me easily separating out the fat and ended up with drier meat). There is some BBQ sauce on the brisket, which is a small amount, but if you dine in, they do have extra sauce on the side that you can add for your enjoyment. There is cole slaw, pickles, and pickled onion on the side that did enhance the dish a bit, but given it is a BBQ spot, I expected a bit more from the brisket, though I enjoyed the smokiness. The plus side is the food came out quickly and well presented, but I would need to think a bit harder if I come back again if I was given multiple options to choose to dine within the area.

I always go visit their truck when I'm in the Central District and they're at Chuck's Hop Shop. Their brisket Mac n cheese bowl is phenomenal!

I saw so many reviews from folks saying that they're from Texas or Kansas or other misc. Southern state saying that this place is legit for barbecue and decided to swing by on my birthday. Went on a Wednesday night at around 7PM and the restaurant was completely full since they were also hosting a trivia night. I did drop about 120 bucks here for two people, but I expected to spend on barbecue, brought home some leftovers, and the quality was definitely there! I also hate super sweet barbecue sauce, but their housemade options are wonderfully tangy and it was probably the first time in my life I ever asked to take barbecue sauce to-go. Brisket (4.5/5): I opted for a fatty cut and it's melt in your mouth texture. Perfect sodium level and I'd probably say 1/2 lb is good for two people. Pork Spare Ribs (4.25/5): The ribs texture is exactly what you want: so tender they fall off the bone, but still have a bit of a bite to them. Suuuuper smokey, but is balanced nicely with the sauce. Pork Belly Burnt Ends (2.75/5): This was my least favorite item - the fat wasn't rendered, the protein was way too chewy. Mac & Cheese (4/5): Normally, I'm not a fan of jalapeño mac n cheese, but this is a fantastic version. Super creamy, great tang, and is AMAZING with their pickled onions. Housemade Potato Salad (3.5/5): They went for a big chunks of potato instead of a mash for this. Pretty average, nothing to write home about. Service is wonderful and parking isn't too bad if you don't mind parking by the CVS up the block. Overall, I can believe all the claims that this is the best BBQ in Seattle!

If you love BBQ then this is the spot, clean place, friendly staff and extremely juicy tender Beef! We had the brisket and pork ribs, they were delicious! Prices were reasonable, super clean place, paper towels on all tables cause we all know we will get our hands dirty. Over I enjoyed it and will definitely be back. Recommended!

This place is soooooo good!!! I work close by the restaurant and have had it catered and also dined in. Parking can be found in the residential area and can sometimes be a bit challenging. The restaurant has a bar and dining area. You basically order your food by the bar and then they bring the food out to your table. There is a self-serve water, utensil, and take out box station which is very convenient. I love their brisket (you can buy by the pound) and smoked jalapeño portobello machaca mac and cheese (my fav!!!). The brisket comes with two slices of bread and pickled onions and cucumbers. We bought half a pound and it was enough to fill up two people. Service is always friendly here too!

    Half pound fatty brisket sandwich

Best bbq restaurant in Seattle IMO. Had a half pound fatty brisket sandwich with pickles and picked onions on white bread for lunch and it was amazingly soft, juicy and tasty. The hot bbq sauce was very good. Will be returning soon.

So I was at their food truck location by Stoup and it was quite good. The service was good with the food coming out quickly and well made. I got the pull pork sandwich. It wasn't overly saucy and the flavors were able to come through well. I will say the cole slaw wasn't my favorites as it wasn't the most flavorful, but im also not a vole slaw person so take that with a grain of salt. The pickled onions went well with the sandwich to give it more acidity. It's not the biggest meal so if you're a big eater you may want to consider getting something additional. Since the day was lovely and we were next to stoups it had a nice atmosphere and was lovely for lunch with friends.

The beef rib was not worth the hype. The ends were overly salted, honestly not edible. The meat was moist but at $39.99 a pound this under delivered. Wings sounded promising by being smoked then fried but were dry enough inside. The Seattle soda selection is cool!

This spot has been on my list to try for a long time, and finally got the chance to do so on a Monday night. The surrounding area is cute with a lot of small spots, and they have both inside and outside seating here. We got the ribs and brisket, but they only had the chopped brisket. It came on two slices of white bread, and the sauces you choose yourself on the side. The ribs were amazing -- fall off the bone tender, and a really tasty rub. Definitely get these! The chopped brisket was kind of dry but that was expected since it wasn't the standard one. The sauces are good, but beware the spicy one is SPICY.

Atmosphere is great. The people were wonderful and for the most part the food is delicious. Seems like a very popular place within the community and lots of people go. It wasn't quite my flavor because of all the spice even though I enjoy spicy food I don't particularly care for my barbecue and beans to be spicy. There are 2 sauces on each table but one was spicy & the other was spicer! Everything that I ate was getting hotter and hotter. The kale salad was delicious and the potato salad if you like mayo instead of mustard it's a treat but for me, I prefer I have more of a mustard potato salad. I'll definitely return and try out some other items on the menu. The rib and the brisket was cooked very tender and juicy, which is definitely a nice change compared to some of the barbecue I've had in WA. I originally from Missouri. I am particular about my barbecue. Lol

You know it's good when you pull up the establishment and they have not only a long line, but also a paper dictating what is sold out, which they update on a 10-15 minute interval. Waiting in line is the most time consuming part of this experience, as we probably waited 20-30 minutes to get to the front to place our order - which is good sign! You can definitely formulate what meats and sides you want as you get closer to the front. Parking for the restaurant is a bit difficult, I think the only options we found while visiting was streetside, and we were fortunate to find a spot only a block away. I could totally see it being impossible to find parking when it gets really busy in the area. Once you get your food, there is plenty of seating, from high tops, to booths, to tables, to outdoor seating with a fire pit. We got a good variety of items, which I'll review a couple down below: Brisket: A good brisket with a nice visible smoke ring. Similar to the pork belly, you can tell the skill of a barbecue restaurant from how their brisket is, and this brisket is delicious! Really meaty and pleasant smoke flavor. I think we did get a leaner cut of brisket as there wasn't as much fat to help with the leanness. Beef Cheek: A delicious cut of meat that melts in the mouth, and has a pleasant smokey flavor. Out of the three cuts of meat, this one was unfortunately salted the heaviest. The first couple of bites are delicious and really delicious, but it goes really overwhelming the more you eat it. If you order this, definitely get some sides to help. Pomegrante Pork Belly: A solid BBQ pork belly that has a pleasing fatty crust with a meaty interior. This is what I would consider a good baseline for a reputable barbecue restaurant. It is advertised as pomegrante pork belly, but I unfortunately wasn't able to taste any flavor of pomengrate - maybe a tiny bit in the glaze/bark but that could just be attributed to the sugar. Mac and Cheese: A pretty comforting side! bechamel sauce is really creamy and fully coats each noodle. The noodles were at the sweet spot of soft and having enough integrity to hold their shape. Cherry and Rhubarb Cobbler: Wow, this is an amazing dessert! I haven't had a cobbler where they added cardamom to the crust before, and I think it works spectacularly. The cardamom gives a nice floral taste to the crust, which is complemented by the tart and fruity filling. I think this is one of the better if not best desserts I've had a barbecue shop, and the small tweaks made were creative and delicious! In the end, I think we paid about $100 for everything you see here. Having been to a couple of BBQ places, I would say that it is pretty standard pricing. Good BBQ does take a lot of effort and it does come at a premium. Outsider BBQ is absolutely delicious - if you are looking to get some comforting food, they definitely have you covered. I would totally revisit to try their items that got sold out (missed the beef cheeks, need to try those!) the time we visited!

Everyone at our table was caught off guard. It felt like we were being rushed to finish and pushed out, which made things really awkward and gave us a sense of being treated differently from other guests. If the goal was to manage the floor or control timing, the very least they could've done was explain it clearly: something like "You have X minutes left for last orders" or "We close at X time," instead of dropping one vague line and walking away, leaving guests to guess what's going on. When guests feel respected and in a good mood, we naturally order more and tip better. But when the attitude is poor and we feel rushed, it doesn't matter that the extra money isn't going directly into those servers' pockets - it just makes people not want to come back at all.

One day, lightning struck a tree, causing a massive forest fire that killed many animals. Our ancestors then discovered that cooked meat tasted much better than raw meat. This is why roast meat has always been regarded as an important part of the human diet. Today I gathered with friends and chose this barbecue restaurant. It's located north of Redmond, with a prominent sign and plenty of parking. Ambiance: The decor is creative, but it feels quite contradictory. Barbecue is inherently a very "Jianghu" (lively, rough-and-tumble) kind of thing, yet the restaurant leans toward an artistic, literary style. When I used to run my own restaurant, I followed a principle: avoid anything unrelated to the core dining experience. Seeing many books on the shelves here, I understand they're trying to bridge Jianghu and artistry -- but it clearly feels out of place. That said, the place is very clean, and the stickers/decorations are festive. Service: My high rating for this restaurant is largely based on the service. After we sat down, we were given free appetizers -- braised peanuts, which tasted great. The staff training is very professional, whether it's taking orders, making recommendations, attending to us during the meal, or checking on tables and refilling water. All excellent. Taste: Jianghu-style cuisine is characterized by boldness, satisfaction, and not sweating the small details. We ordered spicy hot pot (Malatang), spicy hot pot skewers, grilled beef, lamb, chicken gizzards, oysters, and many other items. First, the Malatang and spicy skewers tasted almost identical, so it felt like eating the same thing. The grilled skewers were just average -- neither good nor bad. The oysters were very tasty. However, the shrimp in the spicy skewers were very unfresh, which was disappointing. "By the way, the prices at 'Friendship Skewers' are anything but friendly -- I think it's quite overpriced overall."

While it's not the best BBQ, it gets the job done with great service and prices especially when you're craving it and in the neighborhood. I had the lipstick sandwich, which I got with beef brisket, and also comes with coleslaw, dill pickle, and mustard BBQ as toppings. The meat was tasty, and the toppings were well balanced. The bread was pretty standard as well. What really impressed me was the cornbread. It hit the perfect cornbread notes to my preferences - really rich, buttery, almost melt-in-your-mouth texture with prominent butter-corn notes. Seriously one of the best cornbreads I've had in my life! And such a great value at the way its priced, like the rest of the menu. Definitely check it out, if anything grab a piece of their cornbread.

They have a few seatings but not much and it can get cramped. Foodwise: Brisket sandwich: pretty good, the brisket was soft and flavorful. It's simple but satisfying Pork ribs salad: pork had barely meat on it, it wasn't tender and kinda bland, you definitely need the sauce. The salad was a bit much in terms of dressing. I wish they had the dressing on the side so I can put as much as I want. They were nice and gave us 3 ribs though instead of 2. Chili: came with chips. Pretty standard nothing special. Overall, it's a pretty average place. The service was good though. The people are super nice and price is good as well.
