I'm not usually a big BBQ person, but this place was honestly pretty solid. The chicken was the best thing I had super moist and tender, really well done. Pulled pork was next for me, definitely good. The brisket was just alright, a little on the dry side. Mac and cheese was elite, the highlight for me. Burnt ends were rich but still really good. Overall, solid spot. I'd come back. Staff was very friendly.

Big fan of the ribs and patio space! The brisket was only so so, but for Seattle I think you have to try it. Sauces were also very good. You order at the counter but line moves fast and people are friendly. Seating is mainly out on the patio. Recommended!

Food was great. Lots of options and plenty of sides to choose from. Spot has either close quarters bar seating or casual dining area. Every table was had the bbq setup( paper towels, sweet bbq sauce and hot bbq sauce). Great place to get bbq in central district.

My girl has been raving about wood shop for a long time and since they do trivia, it just made sense. The line was long when we stopped in but it moves...semi quickly, folks just wanna chat which is a positive sign for service here. Space is huge, tons of outdoor seating too. Bathroom is clean! Food takes a bit but not unbearably long. We ordered the fried mac and cheese balls (came out piping hot with ranch), pit beans (so good and a smidge spicy), tons of pickles (she loved it, I'm not a big tart person), chicken sandwich (I thought this was so good, bit on the tough side but seasoned well) and 1/2lb brisket (ordered lean but came out way fatty, still tasted good). Overall, it was good- expensive for what it is but I did live in Texas and was recently in Nashville...so it didn't quite hit the bbq mark for me but it was yummy.

First time today and it was a beautiful day for it. We got in an hour after they opened so while there was a short line it moved quickly and there was plenty of seating. I had the 1/2 chicken with a side of the jalapeño mac n cheese. Lately I've been more into the chicken at BBQ places because the less fatty meat lets the delicate smoke shine in my opinion. Anyway! Delicious chicken. I tried both the standard spicy sauces and both were good but to be honest the chicken was fine without. The jalapeño Mac n cheese was recommended by many - if you are afraid of spice please try it anyway- the jalapeños fresh vegetal flavor is great and cuts the richness of the cheese sauce without adding a big kick. Anyway next time I'll try the brisket or the ribs but today I was very satisfied and even took a lil bit home for later.

VEGETARIANS BE WARNED! This place has delicious slow cooked BBQ meats! You order at the front counter and take a number. You then find a seat at the large covered and heated patio. Their specialty seems to be pulled pork and brisket. I did not see and ribs on the menu. They have beer but no wine. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I will say the brisket chili was a tad too spicy for me and the coleslaw could use a pinch of sugar. My pulled pork sandwich was delicious, and I found myself discarding the bread and devouring the pork mmmmm. Oh , and the patio is dog friendly! So bring Fido! Especially if you're on your way to or from The Boneyard down the street! Cheers!

Slightly pricy but reliable food option around the Central District area. I went here for lunch and got the brisket sandwich which was $17+tax, a bit steep given the okay-ish portions of brisket, but certainly a better deal than getting a half pound of brisket for $20+tax which does not even come with any sides. The brisket sandwich has nice buttery toasted buns along with decent quality brisket (a bit on the drier side, and I wish the brisket had better integration of meat and fat since it resulted in me easily separating out the fat and ended up with drier meat). There is some BBQ sauce on the brisket, which is a small amount, but if you dine in, they do have extra sauce on the side that you can add for your enjoyment. There is cole slaw, pickles, and pickled onion on the side that did enhance the dish a bit, but given it is a BBQ spot, I expected a bit more from the brisket, though I enjoyed the smokiness. The plus side is the food came out quickly and well presented, but I would need to think a bit harder if I come back again if I was given multiple options to choose to dine within the area.

In case you need more ashy grease, try the pork ribs. This was a lousy thing to do to both the pig and to me

The worst BBQ. I ordered a pound of brisket. Instead I got (pictured) two 1/4" thick x 8 inches long pieces of greasy, untrimmed, fatty, gristle. The fat was white. It had the consistency of something clogging a shower drain and the taste of a greasy ashtray.

    Looks can be deceiving...

First off, the service was great. I have tried a lot of BBQ's from different places but this place SUCKs!!!. I ordered a slab of ribs and I knew it wasnt good just by the way it looks. The texture was dry n it just didnt hit right. The chicken was terrible like it was microwaved n added liquid smoke. Overall everything I ordered was below my expectations and the condiments were nasty too. The pickle was too salty n the red onion was too sour. The ambiance is nice, a good place to grab a few beers with the fellas, just stay away from the food.

I saw so many reviews from folks saying that they're from Texas or Kansas or other misc. Southern state saying that this place is legit for barbecue and decided to swing by on my birthday. Went on a Wednesday night at around 7PM and the restaurant was completely full since they were also hosting a trivia night. I did drop about 120 bucks here for two people, but I expected to spend on barbecue, brought home some leftovers, and the quality was definitely there! I also hate super sweet barbecue sauce, but their housemade options are wonderfully tangy and it was probably the first time in my life I ever asked to take barbecue sauce to-go. Brisket (4.5/5): I opted for a fatty cut and it's melt in your mouth texture. Perfect sodium level and I'd probably say 1/2 lb is good for two people. Pork Spare Ribs (4.25/5): The ribs texture is exactly what you want: so tender they fall off the bone, but still have a bit of a bite to them. Suuuuper smokey, but is balanced nicely with the sauce. Pork Belly Burnt Ends (2.75/5): This was my least favorite item - the fat wasn't rendered, the protein was way too chewy. Mac & Cheese (4/5): Normally, I'm not a fan of jalapeño mac n cheese, but this is a fantastic version. Super creamy, great tang, and is AMAZING with their pickled onions. Housemade Potato Salad (3.5/5): They went for a big chunks of potato instead of a mash for this. Pretty average, nothing to write home about. Service is wonderful and parking isn't too bad if you don't mind parking by the CVS up the block. Overall, I can believe all the claims that this is the best BBQ in Seattle!

If you love BBQ then this is the spot, clean place, friendly staff and extremely juicy tender Beef! We had the brisket and pork ribs, they were delicious! Prices were reasonable, super clean place, paper towels on all tables cause we all know we will get our hands dirty. Over I enjoyed it and will definitely be back. Recommended!

At least for this style- Texas style...sort of a combo with both dry rub (Memphis style) and a kick ass sauce ala KC. It was excellent. We both wanted the ribs and brisket so we each got the 'double trouble' and got different sides...greens, cornbread, corn pudding and mashed potatoes. Oh yeah, we also got the fried pickle appetizer. The meat was perfectly done...tender and smoky. Each side was big, and flavorful. I especially liked the greens, my son said it was the best he'd had. Then they brought out the banana pudding. When the server put it on the table my son made a reference to a vampire movie we'd recently watched where the vampires could see the arteries in the necks of their victims and he made a motion to show that the banana pudding was almost pulsating on the table before us. We descended on that poor pudding like crazed nosferatu just awakening from a centuries long nap. Blood lust. It was so good. Gone in about 1 minute. Our evil souls were barely sated. Our thirst for banana pudding only temporarily slaked. The server joked that he's always wanted to bring in a boba straw for the stuff. It's good. Anyway- put this place on your list. Best bbq in Seattle? Maybe? This is a food genre that's important to me and I haven't yet seen better. $130 for two people with tip, wine and a take-home pudding.

One day, lightning struck a tree, causing a massive forest fire that killed many animals. Our ancestors then discovered that cooked meat tasted much better than raw meat. This is why roast meat has always been regarded as an important part of the human diet. Today I gathered with friends and chose this barbecue restaurant. It's located north of Redmond, with a prominent sign and plenty of parking. Ambiance: The decor is creative, but it feels quite contradictory. Barbecue is inherently a very "Jianghu" (lively, rough-and-tumble) kind of thing, yet the restaurant leans toward an artistic, literary style. When I used to run my own restaurant, I followed a principle: avoid anything unrelated to the core dining experience. Seeing many books on the shelves here, I understand they're trying to bridge Jianghu and artistry -- but it clearly feels out of place. That said, the place is very clean, and the stickers/decorations are festive. Service: My high rating for this restaurant is largely based on the service. After we sat down, we were given free appetizers -- braised peanuts, which tasted great. The staff training is very professional, whether it's taking orders, making recommendations, attending to us during the meal, or checking on tables and refilling water. All excellent. Taste: Jianghu-style cuisine is characterized by boldness, satisfaction, and not sweating the small details. We ordered spicy hot pot (Malatang), spicy hot pot skewers, grilled beef, lamb, chicken gizzards, oysters, and many other items. First, the Malatang and spicy skewers tasted almost identical, so it felt like eating the same thing. The grilled skewers were just average -- neither good nor bad. The oysters were very tasty. However, the shrimp in the spicy skewers were very unfresh, which was disappointing. Their claim to fame is that "BBQ Sauce isn't needed - the meat is amazingly delicious!" However, they always provide BBQ sauce at the table and sell bottles of their BBQ sauce to take home, so not entirely sure how much they believe in their saying... On my most recent visit to the SLU location, a large group of co-workers and I went out for a celebratory occasion and ordered the: - SMOKED SWEET TEA ($4.50) - smoked brown sugar, simple syrup, and iced tea. This also comes as a cocktail with vodka ($14.50). This drink was honestly just alright and I probably wouldn't get it again personally. It had a slightly savory and smoky after taste, but kind of tasted like you just put a few drops of liquid smoke in the drink. - BUTTERMILK HUSHPUPPIES ($9) - golden brown and piping hot (like literally straight out of the fryer!) served with tartar sauce and honey butter. While they were super fresh and hot hot hot, they were a bit too dense for my preference. It was worth a try, but I would just stick with the regular buttermilk cornbread instead. - LONESTAR FRIES LOADED WITH QUESO AND BEEF BACON ($14.50) - french fries coated in velveta cheese with crumbles of bacon on top. One of my co-workers wanted to give this a try, so wasn't my choice or pick, but this appetizer was also pretty rich and dense. I also would not order this again as I found it too salty. - PICNIC ($98 - enough for four or more people to share!) - brisket, ribs, sausage, pulled pork, chicken, white bread, homemade pickles, jalapeños, and four sides. For sides, we chose the REMOULADE COLESLAW, BUTTERMILK CORNBREAD, QUESO MAC N CHEESE, and SWEET CORN PUDDING. Because there were 8+ of us, we upgraded the side sizes to 12-oz for $8, as part of the picnic deal. We additionally got a side of WAGYU BRISKET (a Wednesday-only special). - BRISKET/ WAGYU BRISKET - tasty, but surprisingly was on the drier side. I don't know if I really could tell the difference between the Wagyu and their normal brisket. I was expecting a much more moist piece of meat, but seemed kind of lean. - RIBS - these were my favorite in the basket. Sweet, juicy, and falls right off the bone! - SAUSAGE - they give you two types to try - spicy and cheese-filled. The spicy has jalapeño in it and definitely has a small kick. The cheese-filled is mild and slightly saltier. - PULLED PORK - also on the saltier side, but at least it's relatively moist and pre-shredded. - CHICKEN - mostly dark meat (which is my preference), but can't say there's really anything special about their marinade. Nothing to write home about here. - REMOULADE COLESLAW - your standard shredded cabbage coated in a sweet and slightly peppery and tangy mayonaise dressing. No complaints here. - BUTTERMILK CORNBREAD - this side is an ABSOLUTE MUST. My co-workers and I were blown away by how good the cornbread was here. It comes with a dollop (more like a scoop) of butter drizzled with honey, but even on it's own, it was absolutely amazing. It was crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, like a good cake. - QUESO MAC N CHEESE - This side was evidently rich, but less rich than the Lonestar fries. It was creamy, savory, and came with a sprinkle of breadcrumbs on top. I liked that they used spiral macaroni as opposed to your typical half tube macaroni as it gave more texture and chew to the dish. - SWEET CORN PUDDING - I thought I would've liked this one more, but similar to the hush puppies, this dish was also too dense for my liking. However, it was a nice and sweet complement to the mostly savory dishes otherwise. **TLDR- for mains sides (as I've basically tried them all at both locations), I would recommend the ribs, buttermilk cornbread, remoulade coleslaw, Gramma's collard greens, and mustardy potato salad.** For dessert, we ordered one of everything off the menu and honestly, dessert was 10/10!: - PEACH COBBLER & ICE CREAM FOR TWO ($12) - this cobbler was fantastic. It was moist, gooey, and had the perfect amount of sweetness. It was served warm and the ice cream just melted right into it! - PECAN PIE -1996 TEXAS STATE FAIR CHAMP, ALA MODE ($9.50) - this pie was fantastic too. It was sticky, chewy, buttery, and everything a good pecan pie should be. No wonder it was a prize-winning dessert! - BANANA PUDDING WITH NILLA WAFERS ($6.50) - this pudding was creamy, rich, and full of bananas and whipped cream with strong notes of vanilla. The nilla wafers offered a nice crunch and love how they crumbled some on top of the pudding too! Service was wonderful and we got our food within 20 minutes after ordering. The atmosphere is casual and family-friendly. Overall: 4/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 4/5 for atmosphere

We walked in on a Thursday evening to a very brisk crowd. Good sign. There's lots of reference to…read moreTexas bbq. Good sign. We got seated quickly and given menus. We were informed they were out of brisket and pulled pork....bad sign. So we both went with pork ribs (couldn't eat more chicken) with two sides, white bread, onions and pickles. For sides I went with ranch beans and potatoe salad. My wife had the collard greens and ranch beans. Sides were good and lots of choices. Good sign. Now about those ribs....you get 4 meaty ribs ok. Pretty charred from end to end. The bad...the ribs literally had no flavor and very bland. Disappointment. In addition they were pretty dry. The waitstaff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was clean and well lighted. Nicely decorated. Got to say I was very disappointed and would not reccomend Jack's.
