First time eating BBQ, it was one of the best meals I've ever eaten. It was so good and spicy. I got the pile plate with cornbread, beans, and ribs.

If you are downtown and want good barbecue with good customer service stop here. I stopped by on a Monday afternoon, there were a few people inside. I walked up and someone helped me decide what I wanted. I came in for rib tips but they only serve ribs on Thursday and Friday (call ahead to make sure the days are accurate). I chose the 2 meat combo - brisket and hot links with beans. I made a good choice because the food was so good. I asked them to mix the sauce so it's not too spicy and it was perfect. When I come to Seattle again I'm going to be sure to stop by "this" hole in the wall for more yummy barbecue. The hours are short so get it while you can.

Seating was perimeter counter style and no tables. Lighting excellent No music was great Food was absolutely amazing The staff was pleasantly engaged! Ribs perfectly smoked and cooked with perfect amount of sauce. Brisket was moist and delicious. Chicken was of the pulled sort but hands down best I ever had! I'm coming back!

Two-Meat Combination w/ Brisket and Chicken and Potato Salad

Man, I wanted to really like Hole in the Wall BBQ because the owner is sooo awesome and friendly! Plus, there's not much BBQ around Seattle, so we need more meaty choices. But after my colleague and I ate our lunch from here, we thought it was just A-OK. My colleague and I were walking back to the office and needed to find a spot while en route for takeout. We found Hole in the Wall BBQ and had heard great things about it, so decided to check it out. The space is not the largest, but has enough seating for those who want to dine in; but it seems like this place is mostly a takeout spot with it being so close to many offices. The menu was straightforward with a lot to offer, with specials of the day. I decided to get the two-meat combination, which comes with a choice of two meats and a choice of a side. For meats, I chose brisket and chicken and the potato salad as a side, and for sauce, I asked for the spicy one. It didn't take long for us to get our takeout, which was nice since we were on a time crunch. As mentioned, the food was okay. The brisket was overcooked, so was more on the dry side and though the chicken wasn't dry, it had a very chewy texture. Although I ordered my entrée with the spicy sauce, the sauce was not spicy at all. However, the potato salad was chilled and tasty. Perhaps I came on an off day, but I thought the BBQ wasn't anything I'd crave again. It wasn't bad, but I'd likely check out another eatery for lunch.

Was looking for some barbecue in Seattle and found this place. It was OK but the portions were very small. Flavor is pretty good but definitely need the extra sauce! However, the cashier was very friendly and helpful. I could tell this place was a fan favorite

I circled back to this place on my walk home, so glad I did! It's the perfect amount of fatty pieces, juicy and their homemade coleslaw is top tier. The pricing is fair, especially being downtown! I ordered the two meat plate with spicy sauce(pork and brisket). This meal paired with a sweet tea is perfect. The people here are really friendly, and great with recommendations if you don't know what you want

One day, lightning struck a tree, causing a massive forest fire that killed many animals. Our ancestors then discovered that cooked meat tasted much better than raw meat. This is why roast meat has always been regarded as an important part of the human diet. Today I gathered with friends and chose this barbecue restaurant. It's located north of Redmond, with a prominent sign and plenty of parking. Ambiance: The decor is creative, but it feels quite contradictory. Barbecue is inherently a very "Jianghu" (lively, rough-and-tumble) kind of thing, yet the restaurant leans toward an artistic, literary style. When I used to run my own restaurant, I followed a principle: avoid anything unrelated to the core dining experience. Seeing many books on the shelves here, I understand they're trying to bridge Jianghu and artistry -- but it clearly feels out of place. That said, the place is very clean, and the stickers/decorations are festive. Service: My high rating for this restaurant is largely based on the service. After we sat down, we were given free appetizers -- braised peanuts, which tasted great. The staff training is very professional, whether it's taking orders, making recommendations, attending to us during the meal, or checking on tables and refilling water. All excellent. Taste: Jianghu-style cuisine is characterized by boldness, satisfaction, and not sweating the small details. We ordered spicy hot pot (Malatang), spicy hot pot skewers, grilled beef, lamb, chicken gizzards, oysters, and many other items. First, the Malatang and spicy skewers tasted almost identical, so it felt like eating the same thing. The grilled skewers were just average -- neither good nor bad. The oysters were very tasty. However, the shrimp in the spicy skewers were very unfresh, which was disappointing. They have…read morelocations in South Lake Union (SLU), SODO, Columbia Tower, Bellevue/Redmond, Algona, Lakewood, and Federal Way. I have been to both their SLU and SODO locations. Their claim to fame is that "BBQ Sauce isn't needed - the meat is amazingly delicious!" However, they always provide BBQ sauce at the table and sell bottles of their BBQ sauce to take home, so not entirely sure how much they believe in their saying... On my most recent visit to the SLU location, a large group of co-workers and I went out for a celebratory occasion and ordered the: - SMOKED SWEET TEA ($4.50) - smoked brown sugar, simple syrup, and iced tea. This also comes as a cocktail with vodka ($14.50). This drink was honestly just alright and I probably wouldn't get it again personally. It had a slightly savory and smoky after taste, but kind of tasted like you just put a few drops of liquid smoke in the drink. - BUTTERMILK HUSHPUPPIES ($9) - golden brown and piping hot (like literally straight out of the fryer!) served with tartar sauce and honey butter. While they were super fresh and hot hot hot, they were a bit too dense for my preference. It was worth a try, but I would just stick with the regular buttermilk cornbread instead. - LONESTAR FRIES LOADED WITH QUESO AND BEEF BACON ($14.50) - french fries coated in velveta cheese with crumbles of bacon on top. One of my co-workers wanted to give this a try, so wasn't my choice or pick, but this appetizer was also pretty rich and dense. I also would not order this again as I found it too salty. - PICNIC ($98 - enough for four or more people to share!) - brisket, ribs, sausage, pulled pork, chicken, white bread, homemade pickles, jalapeños, and four sides. For sides, we chose the REMOULADE COLESLAW, BUTTERMILK CORNBREAD, QUESO MAC N CHEESE, and SWEET CORN PUDDING. Because there were 8+ of us, we upgraded the side sizes to 12-oz for $8, as part of the picnic deal. We additionally got a side of WAGYU BRISKET (a Wednesday-only special). - BRISKET/ WAGYU BRISKET - tasty, but surprisingly was on the drier side. I don't know if I really could tell the difference between the Wagyu and their normal brisket. I was expecting a much more moist piece of meat, but seemed kind of lean. - RIBS - these were my favorite in the basket. Sweet, juicy, and falls right off the bone! - SAUSAGE - they give you two types to try - spicy and cheese-filled. The spicy has jalapeño in it and definitely has a small kick. The cheese-filled is mild and slightly saltier. - PULLED PORK - also on the saltier side, but at least it's relatively moist and pre-shredded. - CHICKEN - mostly dark meat (which is my preference), but can't say there's really anything special about their marinade. Nothing to write home about here. - REMOULADE COLESLAW - your standard shredded cabbage coated in a sweet and slightly peppery and tangy mayonaise dressing. No complaints here. - BUTTERMILK CORNBREAD - this side is an ABSOLUTE MUST. My co-workers and I were blown away by how good the cornbread was here. It comes with a dollop (more like a scoop) of butter drizzled with honey, but even on it's own, it was absolutely amazing. It was crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, like a good cake. - QUESO MAC N CHEESE - This side was evidently rich, but less rich than the Lonestar fries. It was creamy, savory, and came with a sprinkle of breadcrumbs on top. I liked that they used spiral macaroni as opposed to your typical half tube macaroni as it gave more texture and chew to the dish. - SWEET CORN PUDDING - I thought I would've liked this one more, but similar to the hush puppies, this dish was also too dense for my liking. However, it was a nice and sweet complement to the mostly savory dishes otherwise. **TLDR- for mains sides (as I've basically tried them all at both locations), I would recommend the ribs, buttermilk cornbread, remoulade coleslaw, Gramma's collard greens, and mustardy potato salad.** For dessert, we ordered one of everything off the menu and honestly, dessert was 10/10!: - PEACH COBBLER & ICE CREAM FOR TWO ($12) - this cobbler was fantastic. It was moist, gooey, and had the perfect amount of sweetness. It was served warm and the ice cream just melted right into it! - PECAN PIE -1996 TEXAS STATE FAIR CHAMP, ALA MODE ($9.50) - this pie was fantastic too. It was sticky, chewy, buttery, and everything a good pecan pie should be. No wonder it was a prize-winning dessert! - BANANA PUDDING WITH NILLA WAFERS ($6.50) - this pudding was creamy, rich, and full of bananas and whipped cream with strong notes of vanilla. The nilla wafers offered a nice crunch and love how they crumbled some on top of the pudding too! Service was wonderful and we got our food within 20 minutes after ordering. The atmosphere is casual and family-friendly. Overall: 4/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 4/5 for atmosphere
