BBQ Mesquite Chicken and Bacon with Cheddar Cheese Panini

This panini was so delicious. Bread was soft yet crunchy. The melted cheese combo with chicken bacon and BBQ was everything. Definitely recommend!

A good local spot for sandwiches for those in Fremont looking for to-go options. Noticed a lot of workers who seemed like regulars eating outside the shop. I've been spoiled with the sandwich scene in St. Louis (think hefty meats), but this is a solid spot! Order: Italian Grinder with extra grinder sauce (14.99) - heard this was the way to go, it's tasty! Heads up, one of those places that's opened only Thurs - Sun, 11-6, better as to-go option

I love the sandwiches at Royal Grinders. They look quite simple but are so tasty. My two go to sandwiches are the Chicken Pesto Grinder and the Italian Grinder. The chicken in the pesto sandwich is very juicy and the pesto tastes super fresh. On the other hand the Italian is drier but it has a lot of flavor from the banana peppers, olives, and the light sauce. On a sunny day I enjoy going to Royal Grinders since most of the available seating is outdoors. To avoid waiting a long time for my food to come out usually place my order over the phone so that it's ready for me when I get to the window.

No one would expect to hear this, but Royal Grinders might be one of the best bars in Seattle. Why, you ask? You can get a beer for $2, sit outside, and take in the sights and sounds of Fremont. What's better than that? Now for the food. They have that kind of bread that you want to take a nap inside of. If I need a reliable 8 hours before a big day, I'm grabbing a grinder from RG and using it as a pillow. The outside is criiiiispy, the inside is ultra fluffy, and it's baked with spices inside to take it over the top. Once you've secured bread that is this elite, nothing else matters. You can put funions and tuna (that might actually be good) in between those two clouds and you will get 5 stars from me. But they have a legit lineup of east coast style sandwiches (pastrami, Italian, etc) that have high quality meats and accoutrements. I had the pastrami sandwich and would definitely go back for that again. Would love to try the other menu items though. I also want to go back because I want to be friends with the people that work there. They were incredibly nice to my dog and even gave her ham. They also seem like they would be chill people to hang out with. I'm not sure why people complain about wait times here. Do you not want them to make your sandwich with tender love and care? And saying it's expensive? Have you not eaten anywhere else in Seattle?!

First of all, it smells AMAZING in here!! Jason is so incredibly kind and friendly! Honestly, all the employees were really sweet! We ordered the Chipotle roasted Turkey panini, Italian grinder, and Royal grinder. I ate here with some family. We each got our own sandwiches, so here is a review from each person. Me- *Chipotle roasted Turkey: 5 stars So incredibly delicious! I love sandwiches, like LOVE sandwiches. And I can confidently say that this was the best sandwich I've ever had! So creamy and flavorful!! Fam 1- *Italian grinder: 4.5 stars Really great bread! Wonderful flavorful ingredients! Fam 2- *Royal grinder: 3 stars Wasn't personally a favorite. Great bread and fresh ingredients though! We all had a wonderful experience! Just a warning, the inside is super tiny! Seats exactly 10.

After having had Royal Grinders "bookmarked" for MANY years, I finally checked it off my "to try" list! I wish I had tried it so much sooner! Came to visit on a Saturday around noon. First impression, tiny little hole in the wall. And IYKYK... most hole in the walls tend to be the best "hidden" gems! I was happy to see a counter facing the street with a couple barstools so we could enjoy our sandwiches fresh and hot from the oven! Very limited seating inside, but tons of (uncovered) seating outside (IF it's a nice day!) While we were there, there was a steady buzz of customers. Most of which seemed to be 'called in' orders, and taken to go. Now let's get into it! I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki sandwich. (I don't do veggies so my sandwich was chicken, Swiss, provolone and sauce only). My husband ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich. We sat at the bar seating at the window and waited about 10-15 minutes for our sandwiches. They called our name and it was time to feastttt! A good sandwich hinges on the bread! And this bread was to die for! It's fresh, herby .... and that crunch!!! Exactly what I was looking for! The teriyaki sauce, chicken, the oozy cheese and the crunchy bread made for one amazing sandwich!! My husband said his was just as good as I made mine out to be. (I didnt share a bite of mine bc it was too good to give up one bite!) I didn't try his bc it was full of veggies, which is a hard pass for me! But I do love a pesto sandwich! They also make paninis and those look equally delicious!! I'm going to have to come back and try other options! They have a great menu with a variety of sandos! Royal Grinders has a very friendly staff, fast service & AMAZING 'wiches! Don't sleep on this place! It does not disappoint!!!

Amazing sammy. A great sammy and kettle cooked chips works like antidepressants and im feeling a lot better.

Grilled Cheese Trio w/ bacon, tomato, and pepperoncinis added
    Libby W.

We had our sandwiches delivered, so don't know what it's like in person. Got a grilled cheese with bacon, tomato, and pepperoncinis added, an Italian grinder, and a veggie sandwich. I forgot to take a photo of the veggie one, I guess, but it was really messy and just ok. The Italian grinder was good, but I think the fave was the grilled cheese. I wish they had jalapeño instead of pepperoncinis, though! The hot sandwiches arrived hot and everything was reasonably priced.

Had a great lunch. I've never been to this area before. But stopped downtown. Parking was tough. I also got to see the famous Fremont statue in person of Statue of Lenin and was interesting learning about the history. Great location.

Great place. When I'm in the mood, they are open (closed M-W which is annoying), and I have enough time to wait, this is my go to for a hot sandwich. They are a bit expensive, but generally worth it for the quality. The courtyard seating is comfortable and charming.

We stumbled across this place while walking around in Fremont and it was a pleasant surprise! These sandwiches were out of this world delicious. The staff was warm, welcoming and friendly. Go grab a grinder if you the chance!!

Do they have a gluten-free bread option?

Hi! Yes, they do offer at least one choice of gluten-free bread. Not sure if all their vegan choices are gluten free but ALL of their sandwiches are amazing.

OMG, these were some of the best sandwiches we've had. I had the mean sandwich and my partner had the steak tartare. Their homemade mustard on the mean made the sandwich. The sandwiches are substantial on their own but the bag of fried potatoes make this a filling meal. First time here and we'll definitely be back. Thanks!

My order was ready at the time that was specified (also received a text when it was done) and according to what I read, they keep your food on a warmer while they wait for you to pick it up. How nice! $20 for a sandwich seems pricey, but let me tell you, they definitely make a MEAN sandwich! The Mean - THICK pieces of juicy corned beef with housemade mustard, pickled red cabbage and mint. The cross section of the sandwich looks insane! The combination of flavors is excellent. The Hama Hama Oyster Po'Boy - Deep-fried Hama Hama yysters with housemade remoulade and lemon-pepper mayo. I loved this. The oysteres were nicely fried with not too much batter. You could really taste the oyster and appreciate the texture. The French roll was also very nice. It was similar to a Vietnamese Banh Mi roll. Soft, but with a light crispness on the outside. Fully Loaded Skins & Ins - Skins & Ins are basically a mixture of fried potato skins and potato chunks so you get a variety of texture: thin and crispy, or soft and meaty. The fully loaded option adds toppings similar to that of a loaded baked potato (white sauce, spices, scallions, and super crunchy bacon bits). This was a nice change from having the usual chips or fries with a sandwich. Parking can be somewhat of a challenge in this area, but if you're able to make it over then I think it's worth visiting.

Lorenzo opened Paseo in 1994, where his popular Cuban roast pork sandwiches were regarded as among the best in the country. After years of local expansion, Paseo abruptly filed for bankruptcy in 2014. The brand was subsequently bought out by a local entrepreneur, but the sale did not include Paseo's secret recipes (the reboot attempted to reverse engineer the sandwiches with varying success). So, in 2015, Lorenzo's sons revived Paseo under a new name, Un Bien, armed with their father's original recipes. Nowadays, Un Bien is generally regarded as superior to Paseo, and you can grab their Caribbean sandos at one of the three locations across Seattle. You can't miss the pastel pink-and-teal palette of the original shack on an otherwise drab block of Ballard. As you approach the wooden window, you are greeted by the aroma of sauteed meats and veggies. Communal laquered wood benches are lined up underneath a covered pergola. Fifties hits ring respectfully around the kitchen. My partner and I visited for late weekday lunch, and we ordered immediately. We opted to focus on the signature pork shoulder, so we split the #1 Caribbean Roast and #2 The Press. Across both sandwiches, we were impressed by the tender pork, rich onions, lemon-forward aioli, and marinade-soaked baguette. The standard roast pork sandwich added on pickled jalapenos and crisp romaine, culminating in a dynamic flavor that accentuated the meat. Meanwhile, The Press featured tart banana peppers, smoked ham, and melty Swiss, amping up the sweet and savory flavors alike; we agreed that this extra-messy sandwich just edged out the standard version. Our order took just minutes to be prepared, and the bill just topped $30. Despite the fanfare, I still found myself surprised by just how satisfying Un Bien's sandwiches turned out to be. Across all the food I ate in Seattle, only these pork sandwiches would be worth a return visit, even if I had to venture out of my way.

Messy, pricey, totally overrated…read more My family and I visited Un Bien and arrived approximately 45 minutes before closing. We ordered promptly, but were told we would only have about 10 minutes to use the seating area before it closed. When we asked for clarification because the restaurant was advertised as being open until 9:00 PM, staff confirmed they were open until then but said the seating area would close earlier anyway. After receiving our food, we were told not to sit down and were asked to leave the seating area altogether. The interaction felt abrupt and discourteous, especially given that we had arrived well before closing and had purchased food with the expectation that we could eat on-site. The food itself was average, but the poor customer service and inconsistent messaging about seating left a much stronger impression than the meal. There are other better places. Skip.

While other Serious Pie locations tend to be semi-upscale-yet-casual pizza joints, this spot felt more like an afterthought with its small, dark space and decidedly hole-in-the-wall vibe. The good news is, the pizza was still delish, as it always is at Serious Pie. We enjoyed the sweet sausage pizza that has become a fave over the years, along with a couple of beers which were served in plastic pint "glasses". Okay, I'm sure this makes me sound like a beer snob, but plastic?! Good beer just doesn't taste good in plastic. (Unless you're at a frat party?) Our server (who, by the way, was excellent) later told us he'd accidentally used the wrong glasses for the beer; so apparently it's something they're fixing. Yay! It was also darn cold inside. We had to keep our coats on the entire time. A door between the restaurant area and the semi-open entrance to what appears to be their central storage area would most likely help. Again, this all probably seems a bit petty. I'll own that. But as someone who loves Tom Douglas and his restaurants, and has had great experiences at other Serious Pie locations, this one was a disappointment. Especially since they're charging the same (some might say elevated) prices as they do at the other locations. Maybe if they called it something else, to differentiate it? Serious Pie Lite? Semi-Serious Pie? I dunno, but I expected just a little bit better from this iconic local brand.
