I waited for Curbside to open for months, then moved out of the area before it was finished. Drove by yesterday and saw that it was open. So I went in. I was excited to try. The server was very helpful and very excited for me to try their food. There was indeed a short line. Which I thought was a good sign. The food, while mostly fresh, was very underwhelming, and I was very disappointed. I ordered a Pork Bahn Mi and the spring rolls with peanut sauce. Bahn Mi first: Very large roll and bread to filling ratio was far too much bread for filling, and not quite the right Vietnamese bread for this sandwich. (Maybe if they hollowed out the roll some before filling, that would help,) the pate was generous, but needed more flavor. (I love pate, so was appreciative of the amount). The meat was also bland, though well cooked. The veggies were limp, and barely pickled, so did not add the punch to the sandwich that I was expecting, I got plenty of cilantro, having asked for extra. I also asked for NO jalapeños, and got lots!! As the order is put in on a computer, I could not figure out how this was missed. The sandwich was also very dry. House mayo they stated, but they are very skimpy with this, and what I could taste had no flavor. Just a very underwhelming sandwich. Spring Roll with peanut sauce: Never had a spring roll quite like this: HUGE amount of vermicelli noodles, Nice large leaf of Romain, but it was rotten inside where one could not see it ( I opened up the roll to remove some of the noodles, as there were so many) And the rotting middle of the leaf was then visible. This could have been removed and the rest of the leaf used. Also, this one included two half slices of shrimp that had seen better days and a half slice of Vietnamese deli meat that was not very pleasant on the palate. The peanut sauce was pretty good. Could have used a little more flavor balance, though. Overall ALL of the food was under flavored, and those key Vietnamese flavorings like lemongrass and anise and lime were missing. Veggies needed to be pickled, not just soaked in water. A bunch of little touches that were missing that are in good Vietnamese food. Given the location near a University, and the price point, I would expect that this Deli will do fine. It would not take much to tweak the recipes, and details to make this a really great deli and addition to the neighborhood. Nice location on a corner with some outdoor seating. I just stumbled across recent reviews and saw that Curbside had a grand reopening--and my jaw dropped. When I lived in Seattle, this was my spot. I'd come by several times a week, always ordering the tofu bánh mì with egg and a shrimp spring roll (extra sauce, of course). I'd put in my order, take my German shepherd for a walk around the neighborhood, then come back to pure happiness in a takeout box. They always added those tasty little crunch rods in the bánh mì--still haven't found anything like them anywhere else. It's one of those little details that just makes it so Curbside. I hope they're still doing that. This place wasn't just convenient or good--it was comfort. It was a ritual. I've been missing it ever since I moved back to the Midwest. Honestly, if I had known they weren't gone for good, I might never have left. The service was always great, and everyone was so friendly--just good energy all around. It sounds silly, but some of my fondest core memories in Seattle are tied to this little place. So thrilled to see them back. The best food, best people, and still one of my all-time favorite spots. At curbside you can get a bahn mi and some fresh spring rolls for under $20. The bread is chewy and the fresh rolls are large. The friendly folks at the walk up counter are fun. Some of the finer touches of Vietnamese cuisine are missing such as the overwhelming freshness of the veggies (a touch over cooked and limp in the spring rolls) and also missing is the certain crustiness of the bread roll. Being as this spot is right next to the college I think it will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood lunch options because at the price point it's a decent amount of food. read more

I've seen Curbside a bunch as their home base spot is across the street at that gas station from Seattle Pacific University in Queen Anne area. Most of the time the same food trucks show up weekly in downtown, well I was able to check Curbside out when they drove on over to Westlake Park in downtown. Thought I'd give them a try and what a great lunch choice! Their menu is pretty big with different selections of spring rolls, bahn mi sandwiches, grilled meat rice plates and combos, vermicelli bowls and even pho. So far I've tried: -Shrimp & Pork Spring Rolls: pretty fresh ingredients, nicely made, good thickness and big. Peanut sauce is darn good and you will want more. -BBQ Pork Bahn Mi: BBQ pork was good, plenty of meat in the sandwich, pickled veg is good, bread is soft on inside and crisp on the outside, pretty fat sandwich, good enough to eat half now and the rest later, but in my case, eat it all now! -Grilled Pork Vermicelli Bowl: they fill the to-go box pretty full, a lot of grilled meat, fresh veggies, fish sauce mix is good, basic but pretty darn good. From my visits, this is a good food truck! The guy at the window is real nice, be sure to be clear & precise on what you want if you substitute anything or have any special requests. I ate their today during their grand reopening as a building now at 3 NW Nickerson and same great chef, service, and low prices as the food truck. But the lines wow they moved them through quickly and the Metro route drivers of 3/4, 13, and 31/32 were incredible happy it is open again. I had the chicken Pho with double noodle and extra meat and the best thing possible for a head cold. The Chef and Crew start the Pho Broth at 5-6AM and prepping the day before they even open at 10AM so make sure you dip them well.... I got Curbside when it was in Bellevue for lunch. I had the fried rice with BBQ Pork. The pork was super flavorful, and had that smokey/char/sweet/salty-ness that you expect from BBQ. It also came with peas & carrots, some pickled carrots/radish, a couple slices of jalapeno, and a couple slices of tomato. The rice was definitely the star. It wasn't greasy, and it was crazy-flavorful and unctuous. They have a really large variety on their menu fried rice, pho, spring rolls, banh mi, egg rolls, and potstickers. Pretty good little lunch cart here! I got the shrimp spring rolls and pork bahn mi, and was pretty satisfied. The spring rolls are LARGE, so thumbs up on that. The fillings were all fresh, and they included a crunchy egg roll wrapper flute, which I thought provided a great bit of texture. Curbing my food enthusiasm and filling hunger quotas. A slightly surprising set of entrees offered as the color pigmentation choice of the rice did not meet my subjective expectation. Never the less, it was a well worth gamble as it's buttery flavor continued to compliment the tried true grilled pork. Featuring a large scoop of complex carbohydrates, the spooning of these bites resulted in familiar endorphine kicks and a the silencing of the tremor aches reduced down, unrecognizable to the Richter Growl Scale. With an added bonus of vitamin D coating to go box, additional warmth put the final condiments to complete the meal. 3.5 Yelpie Stars here... The newest addition to the food truck nation in this area, Curbside is Vietnamese cuisine with a good opening salvo of classic Vietnamese foods. This place is nestled next to the Shell station, on Nickerson right next to Seattle Public University. This truck is stationary, and open weekdays from 10AM - 4PM. On their menu, are openers such as Goi cuon (Spring Rolls) variants like the summer roll and fried spring rolls; classics such as the Bánh mì, and a rice plate. They have a couple drinks also. Like many food trucks, they have a concise menu; on a side note... I personally they should put some mention that their sandwiches are actually Bánh mì. I think being as descriptive as possible helps with the choosing process, plus should be a point of pride. =) I'll start with an opener, the Spring roll. My order included the fresh version made with bánh tráng (rice paper) and served with a peanut sauce. The standard affair is here, rice noodles, shrimp, a cold cut meat/pate and something special inside... I'm not Vietnamese, but inside this roll, was a crunch, I thought at first it was something tempura like, but looking at it, it was something of a spring roll wrapper, rolled tightly and either fried or baked. It added a welcome texture to the roll. The peanut sauce was good, right flavor, a stick to the dipped object that worked. Overall, good execution. Now, the Bánh mì; my order was for BBQ Pork. I have had sandwiches from maybe two dozen places in Seattle and Vancouver; and I have two real ratings when it comes to this sandwich (and generally all sandwiches.) The first is the bread, and here it's very crusty and chewy in the right way. I would love to have a little more of softer side of the bread. Second are the fillings. As any good sandwich, there is cilantro with stem and everything, chili peppers with seeds, and pickled carrots and daikon. The meat was BBQ Pork, and it was flavored right; but I needed just a little bit more of it, and a little bit more moist. I love it when the bread is soaking up the juices of the meat and fillings, and this doesn't quite do that. It shouldn't be saucy, just moist. So for the review. The newest kid on the block... I'm thinking it's just almost about on par with many of the food trucks here, and I think with a little tweaking, this might be the start of something good. YUM! Gem of this area! There's not a lot of good quick Vietnamese places around this area so I'm glad that I found this one. Warning- they can get busy during peak meal hours so I would recommending calling in your order ahead of time if you're in a rush. There were about 3 people ahead of me when I got there with call-in orders between customers so it took about 10 minutes for my bhan mi. BUT oh man their food is worth it! The baguette is what made the sandwich for me. It's toasted perfectly and super fresh, it didn't scrape up the top of my mouth which normally happens with bhan mi sandwiches. You can tell that the meat is marinated for a long time and the flavor is spot on. Combine that with the pickled daikon and carrots and add the cilantro and other good things and you have a perfect bite, all for about $5! Definitely recommend this place, delish! read more

The pork vermicelli had tender flavorful cuts of pork, tasty noodles and the carrots mixed in nicely. The spring rolls were huge, and I'm generally not a fan of tofu but it was a nice accompaniment inside the roll as well and had a nice crunch. Can't go wrong with Thai tea. I simply love the Banh Mi sandwich. I've eaten thousands of them and enjoy at least a couple a week. They're the perfect balance of flavor and texture, and the perfect mixture of French and Vietnamese cuisine. The pate, the cilantro, the daicon, the jalapenos- I love them all. I hope to visit Vietnam one day just for the sandwiches. Banh Mi's are my favorite food by far. With that said- Curbside do a pretty damn good Banh Mi. The flavors are terrific, the ingredients fresh, the price point is affordable at $3.50-$4 per sandwich. They offer Vietnamese cold cuts, tofu, chicken, and pork. They take a few minutes to make - a good sign that they are fresh & not pre-made. My only problem with their Banh Mi is the bread- which is a very important part of sandwich. Unfortunately their bread is a mouth killer. Too crunchy and the roof of my mouth was destroyed after lunch. It's a shame really because besides the bread- I really enjoyed the sandwich. When it comes to Vietnamese cuisine across the U.S., I've found that it's fairly easy to find the essentials like rice dishes, bún, or ph . Bánh mì is another story, as most sit-down restaurants don't feature it, or the rendition is poorly done. Vegetarian sandwiches are usually the afterthought since the basic version of the Vietnamese classic features liver pâté. I'm very happy to report that Curbside provides ample vegetarian options that stand well next to their meat selections. Curbside is now a two year old operation, located at the intersection of Nickerson St and Queen Anne Ave in the Shell Gas Station parking lot. It's an easy area to overlook, on the northern fringe of the Queen Anne area next to the canal and not quite close enough to Freemont. Also, it is not so much a traditional mobile food truck, rather a stationary trailer with outside patio furniture for seating. Curbside focuses on appetizers like spring rolls (fried and fresh), ph (beef and vegetable stocks), bánh mì, bún, and drink options like bubble tea and Vietnamese iced coffee. My partner and I stuck with the sandwich option for our lunch order. We ordered the tofu bánh mì, two vegetarian spring rolls, mango bubble tea, and water. The total bill came to about $15, a real steal especially considering the quality of the food. We waited a total of 10 minutes for the food to arrive from the truck, with 4 orders ahead of us when we ordered. I found this to be acceptable given similar wait times at other food trucks. The fresh spring rolls are filled with the same vegetable ingredients found in the bánh mì, with the exception of jalapenos. They come with a peanut dipping sauce and are quite flavorful, though they were missing several ingredients like various herbs (mint, basil) that I expect in a fresh spring roll. The bubble tea is well done and is comparable to what you would expect from the drink. What stood out the most for both of us however, was the tofu bánh mì. Let's start with the french bread. It's bigger than you would think, and is perfectly baked. Browned and crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. The last bánh mì I tasted in my culinary journeys was stingy on both the protein filling and the vegetables. Curbside goes out of their way to ensure this won't be the case. Each bánh mì we ordered was stuffed with vegetables (herbs, cucumber, carrots, jalapenos, et al.), slathered in their special mayo, and filled with golden fried triangles of tofu. Each bite was better than the last, but thanks to their portion sizes I was left very satisfied at the end of the meal. Overall I have to say that Curbside offers the best vegetarian bánh mì I've experienced to date. Vegetarians should take note, as these dishes are not a culinary also ran, but strong enough to hold their own up against the rest of the menu. read more

When I saw this truck sitting in the Shell parking lot, I was super excited, because I work nearby, and there is a serious lack of good lunch places in the area! But it tormented me for weeks (months?) as it sat, not yet open. But no longer! It's finally open! I should say, so far I've only had the pork bahn mi, but I've had it twice, so they're definitely doing something right. This is a classic bahn mi, with the correct proportions of veggies, meat and sauce. And it's only $3.50, which is the right price for bahn mi. The guy running the truck is friendly and recognized me the second time I came, which is always nice. I'll definitely be back! This place recently opened near my house and I just had my first chance to try it out. I would have gone earlier, but they were initially only open 10-2 M-F. They have recently changed their hours and now they close at 6pm, for which I am pleased. They were very nice people and since it was raining, they told me I could wait in my car and they would bring my order to me when it was ready. Pretty cool, no? As a caveat, I spent a month in Vietnam a couple years ago and ate my way from the Mekong Delta to Hanoi, so I'd like to think my opinion is not entirely vacuous, but whatever. I ordered spring rolls, vermicelli noodle bowl with pork, and the Vietnamese beef stew. Pho restaurants aside, I've never been to a Vietnamese restaurant without ordering spring rolls. I love them. If I could eat them by shoving them into my eyes, believe me, I'd do it. These spring rolls were everything I wanted them to be. Taste, texture, freshness.... all there. I particularly liked the relatively large shrimp, that crunchy fried thing in the middle, and the dipping sauce was a nice balance of hoisin and peanut sauce. Awesome. The other two dishes I was less familiar with, so I had no expectations going in. The stew consisted of large chunks of tender beef that were somewhat fatty(fattiness is to be expected in such dishes) and large pieces of carrot in a beef broth that is the consistency of pho. Pretty simple. The broth has some complexities going on with a pretty strong anise flavor that may be a turn off for some. I usually only like the anise flavor when I'm getting sideways from drinking Jaegermeister, but I was pretty pleased with this broth. The stew comes with a banh mi baguette that is fantastic by itself or for dipping. Light and soft on the inside, crispy but not too hard on the outside. The vermicelli noodle bowl is a generous serving of noodles with bean sprouts, carrot, green onion, daikon. I ordered mine with grilled pork. Again, all fresh ingredients. It comes with a thin sauce that is likely a mixture of fish sauce, lemon juice and garlic that you pour over everything before proceeding to shovel it into your dome. All in all, a really good experience and I look forward to trying some of their other menu items. Also, they take debit/credit for a $.50 charge. read more

Whoohoo! Thank you Curbside for breathing new life into the North Queen Anne area. Very lively flavors from this Vietnamese menu. The spring rolls are very fresh, the Vietnamese sandwiches are so damn good and the bread is that perfect crusty on the outside and soft on the inside that you'd expect from a quality baguette. The fried rice with chicken features an entire leg quarter of crispy skin chicken and not some chopped up mystery meat. I would have to agree with most of the other reviews, this place is pretty good. I work nearby and its easy to get to for lunch. The BBQ pork sandwich and egg rolls is my go to meal. The pork is really flavorful, and the bread is really fresh. For such a big sandwich you don't get a lot of meat, but at $3.75 you can't really complain either. You may need a side to complete the meal but those are good too. They also just started taking cards so I will probably be eating here more often. read more
