We were excited to check out this Serious Pie location in Ballard during a recent holiday shopping expedition, but honestly we were a little disappointed. While other Serious Pie locations tend to be semi-upscale-yet-casual pizza joints, this spot felt more like an afterthought with its small, dark space and decidedly hole-in-the-wall vibe. The good news is, the pizza was still delish, as it always is at Serious Pie. We enjoyed the sweet sausage pizza that has become a fave over the years, along with a couple of beers which were served in plastic pint "glasses". Okay, I'm sure this makes me sound like a beer snob, but plastic?! Good beer just doesn't taste good in plastic. (Unless you're at a frat party?) Our server (who, by the way, was excellent) later told us he'd accidentally used the wrong glasses for the beer; so apparently it's something they're fixing. Yay! It was also darn cold inside. We had to keep our coats on the entire time. A door between the restaurant area and the semi-open entrance to what appears to be their central storage area would most likely help. Again, this all probably seems a bit petty. I'll own that. But as someone who loves Tom Douglas and his restaurants, and has had great experiences at other Serious Pie locations, this one was a disappointment. Especially since they're charging the same (some might say elevated) prices as they do at the other locations. Maybe if they called it something else, to differentiate it? Serious Pie Lite? Semi-Serious Pie? I dunno, but I expected just a little bit better from this iconic local brand.
Possibly the BEST pizza I've ever had in my life! The crust is thin and crispy and the toppings are loaded perfectly so you get the best flavors. I want a slice just thinking about it! They have great Happy Hour prices. Staff are friendly and the food comes out fast!
I haven't had a lot of good pizza in the Seattle area so the other day I stopped by Serious Pie on a Thursday evening. It was a great day outside, we had a dog with us, and so we opted to sit on the patio. There were not a ton of people out there, maybe one other group, and the area was super spacious. A lot of the pizza flavors are really intriguing. The clam Pizza immediately caught my eye but of course they were out. But it was national cheese pizza day so we ordered one of their cheese pizzas (selecting 3 types of cheese) and one of their potato pizza. Both were delicious. They had a really crust and all the toppings were generous and flavorful! The employees here especially went above and beyond. They brought the dog water, and were really generous about treats (asking first of course). Definitely a nice chill place to get a pizza!
Went here for dinner after spending some time across the street in at great notion and overall had a great experience! A friend and I split the two specials for this month which were both Nduja Bella (a thinly sliced sausage). One was sweeter with baked apricots and had an amazing flavor to it combined with the pesto and burrata. The other had yakima corn and was more of a neutral taste. The ambiance was nice as we sat outside in the corner 6 table as the sun was setting and felt like a perfect summer day. One standout was our waitress, she was extremely attentive and went into great detail talking about each of the different pizza options. We also really enjoyed getting to know her!
Small outdoor dining space with tons of unique pizza, sammies and salads. Got the Pork Shoulder sammie that came with some local crisps I hadnt had. It was a fair portion for the price and the peppers (I think) were the real shining flavor. Simple cuisine with no indoor space (at least when I was there) in a lil industrial neighborhood.
Ordered pizza to go and it was ready pretty quickly. Was super yummy and light! Perfect for a snack or dinner for 1-2
In Seattle for a guys trip and checked out SP in Ballard. The pizza was fantastic. Great crust with good chew. We sampled about 4 pies and the favorite was the clam. Try the homemade ranch. Inside is small but they do have a patio. Very friendly staff.
The location downtown was my favorite pizza in the city growing up. My family and I would share a margarita pizza- eating the warm pie together on rainy days remains some of my favorite memories in Seattle. After moving back to the area as an adult, i wanted to try it again to see if it lived up to what I remember it being. I visited the Ballard location last weekend with my partner and it did NOT disappoint. The staff is so kind and helpful, and the vibe is great with the Viking details and outdoor eating area. We got the potato rosemary pizza and it was perfect!! The potatoes were sliced thin and they did not skimp on the herbs. The crust is the best part. We also got the beet salad and the kale Caesar salad.
Super delicious! After a Saturday exploring Ballard, this really hit the spot. The pies have tons of seasonal and unique flavors, but definitely run on the small side and are a bit pricey. It's a sit-down spot and the waiters were friendly and helpful, but it was definitely pretty busy. It's a nice cozy ambiance, and they have seating that can easily fit bigger groups.
They are Not kidding! This is some Serious Pie! How do I describe this? One of my dining companions said 'I think this has ruined all other pizza for me.' That's a good descriptor. The wood fired crust is crunchy at the edges and well cooked (as in the pizza chef did is correctly). The sauce has a nice herb quality. There is a fragrant olive oil in there. The mozzarella on my pie was thick and creamy, not overly chewy or stringy and the fresh basil has a nice mild flavor. I had an iced tea, which is fresh brewed, and it is one of the best iced teas I've had at a restaurant. They also have house made lemonade, soft drinks, beer amd wine. Walk up to the cashier on the sidewalk to place your order and select one of their picnic tables on either side of the street to dine-in. They have a 3 minute parking spot for pre-ordered take-out carry out. The staff are very friendly. This place is no frills. The attention is on the food, and it's really good.
A no-frills pizza spot nestled into the heart of Ballard, right next to all of the breweries. My friends and I were at Obec Brewing and got a pie to-go to snack on while we were there... and this just might be some of my favorite pizza in Seattle! It was super easy to order from their website and run across the street to pick it up. The Mozzarella Pizza was SO. FIRE. The wood-fired crust was delicious and the cheese was melty and fresh and the sauce was so darn good -- I can't say anything else other than to go get it, like now! I am definitely coming back!
Came here on a road trip through Seattle and saw that serious pie was a hot destination. I ordered on the phone first and then came to pick it up. It wasn't crowded at all the late afternoon but they seemed to take a while to come out with our food. In addition, it didn't come with chili flakes and it took them forever to even find a packet. I ordered the yukon gold potato, pecorino romano, rosemary pie with extra Italian sausage. After bringing it to the locks, I bit in to a pie with good crust, a bit undercooked potatoes, and expensive sausage. The pizza was almost $30 with the extra sausage. Flavor wise it was a great combination but it was just a bit small in addition to the undercooked potato. Overall it was kinda just average for me. It's a bit too pricey for me and not good enough to try it again.

I was surprised I was able to find parking as that area is pretty busy ..

Stumbled on this place while making a U-turn and what a lucky day it turned out to be! Delicious lunch, pictures do not do this place justice. Picture looks like any other pizza, but this one was really really delicious . Cool, fun, zero pretention in this place. While orderingordering, we were told it will be 15 minutes to prepare, in reality it was 10, another pleasant surprise. Definitely a repeat! read more

Rainy Seattle doesn't tend to excite me, but a visit to Serious Pie in Ballard on the weekend for its pop up biscuit shop will certainly brighten even the cloudiest of days. Set on the side of a warehouse, on the weekend mornings Serious Pie transforms into its beloved Serious Biscuit for a few lovely hours. And let me tell you, they take their biscuits and gravy seriously. The biscuits are hearty but fluffy and paired with the black pepper gravy (*chef's kiss*), it's a match made in heaven. And while there's other biscuit places around, few stand up to the profound quality of simplicity found at Serious Pie/Biscuit. Best thing on the menu: Anything that has to do with their biscuits and gravy - go nuts! Ambiance: Industrial pop up hanging out of a warehouse, mostly standing room only with a couple of scattered metal tables that are first come, first serve. read more
Was really happy to find a serious pie in Ballard to help sop up all the beer I tend to drink when in the area. Their pizza is fantastic, super thin crust with fresh ingredients. I never feel guilty about eating it. Sandwiches and salads are also delicious as well. I love that I can order/ pay online. There are some covered/ heated picnic tables for eating ur fresh pizza. read more

Good ambience. The pizza had a nice thin crust that did not get soggy at all. The pizza was really tasty but had a lot of oil or butter on it that became pretty heavy as I ate more slices. Love the taste but can't eat more than half a pizza! Good service, good vibes. Will visit again. read more

I've seen and heard about this place and now finally trying their pizza. The pizza was fabulous! Really delicious from every bite. The texture from the crust to the toppings were so fresh. You taste everything. Great quality pizza in my opinion. Try them out and see what you think. read more
Definitely recommend calling your order ahead. The neighborhood is pretty weird, like a gentrified industrial area. There are a lot of breweries around, but you "can't" bring a 6-pack and drink it at the tables outside... according to the cashier. However, I don't think they'd stop you if you did, just don't be belligerent about it. Ordered two pizzas and it took approximately 25 min to get them out. I first came to serious pie in downtown many years ago and I thought it was the best pizza ever. My second visit wasn't as memorable, but still pretty good. read more

So good! Love that it's right next to all the breweries because it definitely hit the spot. take out only. They had a few seats outside I think but it was too cold and rainy. Also I can't clearly remember if that was true so don't quote me. We got our pizza and went back to urban family brewing read more
TLDR: Seriously overpriced for what you're getting. My credentials: born and raised Italian now living in Seattle, looking for good pizza. Several friends pointed me to Serious Pie, and wow, I was hopeful. I was very let down by this place. Mostly, it's seriously (!!) overpriced. The $17 margherita I ordered was appetizer-sized. The mozzarella pieces were definitely too big proportionally, considering that they didn't fully melt into the sauce and easily slid and plopped all over the place. Not the refined or "elevated" pie you'd expect by any means. The $13 kale salad I also ordered didn't help soften the blow when I picked up my order and noticed how small it was (maybe a cupful of kale, about a tablespoon of pine nuts). Somehow it costs the same as their pork shoulder sandwich? Anyways! Still hungry and considering ordering a second dinner. You'll easily save your $ and find better wood-fired pizza elsewhere. :-) read more
Ordered from Serious Take out this weekend for Mother's Day. I was in charge of dessert and was a little late ordering from other places luckily I remembered Serious Take Out wasn't far from my nail salon which I had an appointment for on Saturday. Ordered the Strawberry Rhubarb pie one of special pies that were being sold for Mother's Day. It was just a five minute walk away from my salon. It's right near a ton of breweries assuming they fo great business. I know some breweries have food trucks perfect but not all have food in house or the room for a food truck. Service was friendly, I think the only thing that could be done better is maybe an area for prepaid stuff and an area for people buying point of sale. Just to streamline things a bit. read more

No indoor seating right now but the pizza is still great! You can enjoy it outdoors in front of the restaurant. We got the sweet fennel sausage pizza and it was great. One of the must tries. read more
I have always loved Serious Pie, but I was always challenged by the waits and all of the other places nearby. Serious TakeOut brings the same tasty pizzas to the northern neighborhoods. Ordering a pizza online is a breeze and there is plenty of parking around the area. There are also plenty of breweries nearby so it's very convenient as well. I had my favorite version - the sausage and peppers, which was so good, and also a solid cheese pizza for the fam. They also brought over the smoker from Brave Horse (RIP), and they also have a pork shoulder sandwich on the menu which sounds so good. Definitely a nice addition for the neighborhood and a great location as well. read more

We usually reserve ordering from Serious Pie for special nights. This is the first time I've been dissatisfied, especially given the price. I should've checked my pizza before driving away. My mushroom pizza was burned. I forced myself to finish because again the price. But their was not a single uncharred slice. My husbands pizza was perfect and of course we could've switched but I don't eat meat and he ordered pepperoni. I don't think we'll be coming back. read more
Tom Douglas' Serious Takeout is a great option for these times. We ordered through Door Dash. Process was easy: menu items with pictures and descriptions, order confirmation via Door Dash app as well as text. Pickup is easy: you an prk across the small street in designated space. Order was ready and staff friendly. Best of all: Serious Pie quality for your takeout! We had Prosser Farm Potato pizza- our favorite Pie. Potatoes are thin, tender and salted to perfection w truffle. Heirloom tomato pie was very well bananced: tomatoes were as fresh as flavorful. Fresh mozzarella pizza - we added panceta and black olives- great combination! 3 pizzas were plenty for party of 4 adults - we eat on the lighter side. For an added bonus, take your food to nearby Golden Gardens Park as we did. A full Seattle experience. read more
