Came here the past couple Fridays to get my weekend started and closing out a work week. The ambiance here is intimate and the music isn't too loud which is great while sipping some beers. There are several beers and some ciders on tap from all around and all the ipa's I've tried here have been pretty decent. from there you grab your brew and have a seat at high top tables within the tap room. Again, the setting is mid-sized good for a couple groups of four and a few two person tables. Music is at a decent volume and is lit dimly making it decent for a date spot or just a place to have conversation without raised voices. Fridges line the tap room so you can mix and match beers, ciders and wines to take out which is cool. I like Bottleworks, I want to enjoy it more, but there are some issues holding me to 3 stars. The staff are...alright. Not bad, but I feel could be a little friendlier. Also they don't allow sample pours? This is a common thing at most breweries, but maybe it's because this is a tap room, but beers run a bit higher here - $8-9 a pour so that's annoying that you can't even try a couple. Lastly, they rotate things out it seems weekly. Some of the more popular options I suppose they keep but seems like a lot of turn around on the drinks so if you like something they have on tap, don't get too attached. Perhaps on subsequent visits It will improve, and I can boost the score here, but besides the decent beers and setting, it's just OK here. read more

Came here with friends for a beer. Rustic place with some charm. Plenty of seating. Many coolers with beer and wine for sale. Some unique beers and last call for some that won't be made again. Service was friendly and helpful. Great place to stop by. Lots of locals come by here, that says alot. read more

One of the best bottle shops in the country! I've had many of Bottleworks' anniversary beers in the past because they always team up with stellar breweries to make them.. but before today I have never visited the famous shop. It's smaller than I imagined it to be but every beer inside, from the draft list to the cans and the bottles are carefully curated by the staff. We grabbed a quick beer (Hill Farmstead, which is the first time I've seen this brewery for sale in the since I started this trip 6 weeks ago and Ive been through 4 states) Then we shopped for some cans, we quickly had to refrain from buying too much as the refrigerator in our van only holds so much. We ended up with a six pack and then grabbed a mystery 4 pack on the way out (mystery 4 pack was stellar). While we're shopping they opened a sour from Jester King and shared it with us. I honestly wish I lived a bit closer (Las Vegas is kinda far) because I'd be here everyday... Honestly, they have a whole cooler just for barley wine! Along with Brouwer's Cafe , Bottleworks is one of the quintessential core craft beer spots in Seattle steeped in history of pioneering community and fostering interest in the wonderful world of craft beer, wine, cider, mead. Even though the place is not run by the original owners the current crew is some of the raddest lovable beer nerds around and some of the most welcoming badasses in Seattle even though they are legends brewing beer with the best of them all over. It can be hard to find a spot as a beer store with the long established chuck's hop shop and lots of amazing breweries within driving distance that make it hard to warrant a middle man with a higher price tag, but bottleworks knows what they're doing and give you more than enough reason to support a place that gathers the best in beer (not to mention brews some of the best) for you to enjoy in bottles, cans, and even on tap. The webstore is a great experience, just remember to add any potential proxies when you order since it seems like you can't after ordering, but if the staff there know you they're usually cool with you picking up for friends. read more

This might just be my favorite place in town for buying beer to go. It's a pretty chill, cool little spot for staying and drinking there, but I usually go to Chuck's Hop Shop or Optimism if I want to stay and drink at the place. But if I'm buying beer to take home, Bottleworks is where I go. This is really mainly for one reason, but it's a big reason for me: Bottleworks allows you to buy single beers even if they come as part of a pack (e.g. six-pack, twelve-pack, etc), whereas Chuck's Hop Shop does not. This is a big issue for me because I like to try a lot of different beers, and so many beers come as part of a pack and I don't want to buy an entire pack of each beer I want to try. As far as the selection, Bottleworks has a very good one. They often have beers I'm looking for that other places in town do not. Good on you, Bottleworks! TL/DR: Great place for beer, especially if you're getting it to take home. Really good selection, including many hard to find beers. On a brisk summer night two travelers were arriving at the door of a beer shop for some to-go imbibing. They peered through the window then creaked opened the door, admired the glistening bottles adorning the walls of the store. A unique farmhouse ale caught one of their eyes when just at that moment an awful surprise! She crept out from the dark into the cooler's dim glow then glared while she spat "we close in a minute, you know." Quite taken aback the travelers said "not to worry!" Their selection was made "We'll leave in a hurry!" Her thinly veiled rage produced a snarl on her face two other patrons fled in fear "Let's get out of this place!" But our travelers were brave and ready to pay. The red-haired woman yelled "Today is my Friday!" Through pained polite smiles the travelers paid with a card "Sign here" she said gruffly and slammed the pen down hard. As the paper was being signed she stormed off mid-transaction leaving the travelers aghast at what prompted this rude action! So be warned, dear reader, though the selection is quite nice the craft beers sing a siren song that lead to the queen of ice. read more

When in Wallingford and looking for a good beer selection... apparently Bottleworks is the place to be. It's a little on the dark side in there, but I liked that. There were plenty of choices, and we ended up walking out with a couple of Belgian Blonde's. It's a little on the expensive side, I think, but..... from the little I know, it definitely SEEMS like a way better selection than what I'm used to! The one thing I did find REALLY exciting, though, was the DOGFISH HEAD! The one in Beer Wars that I thought you could only find on the .... East Coast, right? Well... guess not! I don't know if they have any others, but they have at least the 60 Minute IPA and the Aprihop. I didn't get either one this time, but I'm thinking of getting the Aprihop if I'm back there in the near future...... read more

We bought a few cans and hung out at the long -wooden bar in the middle of the store.the interior is cool and pretty nice thought the exterior looks like a storefront, inside its a totally different ambience. A little on the pricey side, but they offer 200-300 bottles very well cared for. In fact, the place is very dim inside as part of their efforts to take care of the beer (beer in clear or green glass bottles degrades faster when exposed to too much direct light). They're always getting great stuff in as soon as it's available, and they even get stuff made just for them once in a while. They have chocolate, glasses, and t-shirts, too, if you're in the market for those. Can't imagine my life without Bottleworks. read more

I am going to spare you the long boring story of how it took 2 months for me to get my 2 Delirium Tremens (sp?) beer glasses from the USPS in one piece the second time around. The point is...Bottleworks had them - you know the glasses similar to Chimey (sp?) glasses BUT with cute little pink elephants all over? Very adorable and fine treasure for those who collect one of a kind or special beer mugs. Yes and I would be that person. I will post a picture on yelp for those who haven't seen them. This is a great bottle shop we added to our "beer snobs must see" list while beer-touring Seattle. The shop is small, packed to the brim with beer refrigerators. The selection is decent, not the best I have seen, but decent for Seattle. There are American microbrews and Belgian/German imports. On the day we were there was a delivery day for Hair of the Dog Blue Dot, which apparently is only delivered twice a year. I particularly enjoyed sapping on a beer from their tap list, while my boyfriend roamed around trying to find gems of bottles to take home. I ordered a Russian River Publication, which in a rarity, it is a Saison style finished with Brett. This beer made the trip to Bottleworks worth it. If you are in the area, I recommend stopping by. This place has quite the selection of beers and reminds me very much of "City Beer" in San Francisco. Both shops have beers on tap (although City Beer has it all day long) and boast an impressive array of beers from all over the country as well as all over the world. This shop is unique in that when you walk in, you're not quite sure where you are or where you're gonna be going. The shop is not as well lit as you would like it to be and sometimes you can find beers in the fridge as well as on the shelves while other times they're a bit misplaced. However, for the most part this place actually labels where the beers are from so if you have a favorite region or country you could stop by that area to grab what you need. It's a fantastic little spot to enjoy some limited selections of draft beer and take home some awesome premium beers for when you want that upscale night in ... haha read more

This is *the* beer store in Seattle proper. It's got an amazing selection and they really know their stuff. If you want to figure out what's going on with some random special seasonal release that you swore came out about this time last year, they'll know and be able to tell you what's up. They have damn near every beer you could want that anyone can put their hands on, they're better equipped to get their paws on the good beer that comes into Washington state than anyone else is. They've recently added 5 taps in addition to the massive bottle selection and you can get most of what they have on tap in a growler if you want it. The only problems are that I have here are that sometimes the other customers are a beet pretentious with their beer geekiness and that the prices are usually a bit higher than other places. Though, often, it's the only place selling the beer, so any price is better than none. I try to come here at least every few months to drool over the selection and splurge on a few things that look interesting and I can't get anywhere else. They also have events every now and then, the biggest of which is when they do their annual Bottleworks anniversary ale which you can get on tap or buy in bottles to age. It's always interesting and brewed by good known breweries, so check it out if you can. The people here also own Brouwer's Cafe where they have 64 more taps that they use to further deluge Seattle in good beer. read more

Definitely a cool beer spot, especially if you're somewhat of a beer snob. What I liked most about Bottleworks, is that they carried a lot of beers that can be hard to find. I liked how you could choose from their beer on tap and the beer they sold out of cans and bottles to drink. Me and my boyfriend both got a Firestone Walker beer. We got the Luponic Distortion, Rev. 005 in a can and the Leo vs Ursus, Fortem on tap. We also drank one bottle of Fuller's London Pride, which is another hard beer to find in the U.S. alone. read more

As good as it gets, indeed! Every square inch of this business is dedicated to beer. Bottles, cans, there's even a bar and you can drink while you shop for drinks. I came here before Xmas to buy some beers for my dad who's really particular and everything I managed to find was something he'd never tried before. Come here for rare, popular, local and foreign beers. Basically it's the best beer shop you'll find anywhere around. Bottleworks is a nice shop. They have a pretty good selection and likely have what you're looking for. I saw many familiar bottles and lots of new ones. They have taps so you can sit and enjoy a beer or drink while wandering around the store. They also do growler fills. The prices seemed a little steep but I would go back for my beer/cider needs. read more

I stopped in here before a small get-together on Saturday to fill up my growler and was pleasantly surprised - Bottleworks has had a makeover! It still looks dark from the outside but is warmly lit when you walk in. Instead of having kegs and makeshift taps off to the side by the cash register there's an actual bar at the back with a chalkboard listing taps (there were 5 to choose from on Saturday) and prices. You can get a pint for $4-$5.50 and fill a growler for $16-20 depending on your beer choice. They've still got the same great selection of bottles in refrigerator cases lining the walls and the same great staff. read more

A beer lover's paradise! They have a huge selection of beers organized by country of origin. My only gripe is that the Scandinavian pickings are a little slim. Last time I went they had Ringnes (Norway) and Elephant, a stronger maltier version of Carlsberg, and they might have had Tuborg and some miscellaneous Swedish beers. I've bought a fair share of Russian and Ukrainian beer here. Baltika is a Russian brewery that rates its beers 0 to 9 depending mostly on strength. Baltika 9 will kick you to the curb real quick. Might get you arrested, never know. Anyway, great beer store with knowledgeable employees and a huge selection. A lot of the stuff here can be found at local grocery stores at roughly the same price, but you might as well show your support to true beer connoisseurs. UPDATE: Just went to Bottleworks and they currently stock no Scandinavian beers. read more

Wallingford, how I love thee. You dress badly, most all the time. You have terrible traffic, almost all the time. You smell like Dick's cheeseburgers...well, mixed with Thai. You are not U-District (thank heaven) yet you aren't quite Fremont..Yet I am thrilled to know you because you have Bottleworks. Bottleworks is kickass because you can pick and choose your six pack. This is tremendous because who wants a 6-pack of just okay blehh beer? You don't have to be stuck with blah beer. But at Bottleworks, it will be very unlikely that you will find a blehh beer. The service is absolutely excellent. We wandered in, perhaps pretty obviously wet behind the ears, and boom, instantly guided towards delicious prices. Really, really great recommendations, really great selection. I like to think I know my way around booze but there were a ton I've never seen/heard of before. Impressive. I live 4-5 blocks away from this place and one of my best friends works here, so naturally i spend way to much time (and money) at this shop! The guys really know their beers and are always down to answer any questions you might have. They have the widest selection of beer in Seattle and are always bringing in new flavors from around the world. They also have beer tastings I think on thursday (call to make sure). My fav beer that they carry comes from Brasserie Dupont Brewery located in Belgium called "Foret" which is an organic sasion that taste very earthy, crisp, with a nice peppery undertone. It's about 8% ABV and comes from a little organic farm that only makes sasions. The label has a unicorn on it wondering in the woods- it puts a smile on my face everytime i see it.. It goes for about $10 a bottle, but taste priceless!! If you like beer then you must go here! They will take good care of you. read more

I sent my brother in law, who was visiting from out of town, here. He's Belgian and was impressed with the Belgian beer selection. He bought us a bottle of Catillon beer, which is one of the few Belgian breweries that still get their yeast from the open air. The process to make their beer takes 3 years rather than 1 year. He bought us the raspberry flavor b/c when he went on their beer tour last year, they were out of this flavor - I guess they sent the bottles to Seattle. The beer is bitter and sour and perfect for this hot weather we're having right now. Other good Belgian beers to try: Leffe blond (lighter beer if you like lagers), Delirium tremlins, Piraat, and Duvel. Bottleworks also sells Leonidas chocolate - delicious chocolate truffles imported from Belgium, the fresh kind that you have to refrigerate and eat in a few days (sooooo hard to do...). They also own Brouwer's cafe, which has excellent Belgian beer on tap. read more

A few friends and I stopped in here quickly to grab some beer. The guy behind the counter was nice and offered his assistance as soon as we walked in the door, but was courteous enough to let us browse for a while by ourselves. I picked up some very interesting local ciders - one blackberry, (which I so miss after not living in the NW for years) as well as a Habanero Raspberry that was, to say the least, ridiculously intriguing - and turned out to be fantastic.
