This girl was doing EVERYTHING, with such efficiency, it was so impressive! Ambiance: It was a fairly busy Sunday night, but the ambiance was nice overall! Quite a few families and small groups. Plenty of seating, even at the bar. Food: I had the Atlas Amber Ale, which was the right balance between light and bitter, but not heavy. Got the chicken tenders and fries meal, which was reduced price since it's Happy Hour all day on Sundays! Food came out in about 15 minutes. The tenders were hot, crispy, and juicy straight from the fryer. The beer battered fries were cooked to perfection. You can add 2 additional sauces, no extra cost. Pints are also $1 off. read more

I've been visiting the Big Time on and off for about 25 years. In the past few years it has become my remote living room. The bar staff are smart, fun, and extremely hard working - I've seen some of them jump in to help out when the place gets slammed even when it's their day off. The kitchen staff are also fantastic. The food is some of the best pub fare in town, let alone on the Ave. The pizza dough is proper, the burgers are huge, and I'm nearly addicted to the pork tacos. The beer is, obviously, the key draw. The Big Time is Washington State's oldest continuously operating independent brewery and all their product is made on site. Regular options include the iconic Scarlet Fire IPA, and the Coal Creek Porter, with lots of season options and variety to suit almost any beer palate. Decent brewery. We were looking for a sit-down dinner spot in the area that wasn't packed with college kids and found this spot. You seat yourself, order at the bar, and they bring the food out to you. They have some of their own beers on top, and most of their beers seem very hop-forward, which I can appreciate. I tried the hazy and it was way to floral for my taste. I ended up getting their flagship IPA, which was solid. I also got the verde nachos for my entree. Huge platter of nachos. I couldn't finish it. I got perhaps half way through. But the top layer...the layer with the cheese and the toppings. The bottom layers of the nachos were...well...naked! Just tortilla chips, no cheese. I would have preferred a bit more layer of the cheese and fixins so I can continue enjoying it past the top layer. read more

Big Time Brewing Company is a casual place on the Ave near the University of Washington Seattle to enjoy happy hour with friends, but that's all it really is. Came here for a happy hour event and we ordered some pizzas (cheese and veggie), French fries, and chips with salsa. They were extremely average. There wasn't much service either, no water was brought to us and nobody came to check in on us. There is only street parking available. There are gendered restrooms, but they are freezing cold inside during the winter. The water to wash your hands with is also freezing cold. I probably wouldn't come here again. read more

It makes me sad to write this, because this place has always been a neighborhood staple for me... Understaffed, as many places are right now. Line onto the door. One bartender whom was also running food. I've always enjoyed this place due to the food...their pizza and fries have always been fabulous. We tried their turkey sandwiches today and that was a BIG mistake. Bread was grilled...at some point...but so cold and rock hard that it cut the roof of our mouths. The ingredients were nearly frozen temps. What the heck?! I would have expected a warm or at least luke warm Sammy and it was just awful. Inedible actually. Fries that came with it were still great, the sandwich not so much. After a $60+ tab it was certainly not worth it. We left unsatisfied and found food elsewhere. read more

Big Time Brewing Company bills itself as Seattle's first brewpub. As I'm not from Seattle, I certainly can't speak to the accuracy of that statement but I certainly can say that they know what they're doing ad they do it well. Big Time is yet another business on "The Avenue," a rather lengthy strip of businesses including restaurants, vendors, a movie theater, and more located right next to the University of Washington campus and about a mile from the Lake Union area. From what I heard, the area got hit pretty hard during the George Floyd protests and there's quite a bit of graffiti on businesses. I always felt safe here and found people to be super friendly. Big Time opened in 1988 and is, in fact, a brew pub. Masks are now optional if you are fully vaccinated. Seattle is probably a step behind my own home town of Indy in terms of opening up. Big Time offers up brews, grub, and wine/cider. This was actually one of the few times I drank in Seattle and by the time I hit Big Time I'd just found out my mother had passed away and resisted the urge to drink away my sorrows. Area parking is mostly paid street parking. This is on the public bus route, however, and fairly easy to get to. There's a LOT of construction going on in this area. The entry was fairly accessible - a slight incline at the doorway, but Big Time is on one level and the socially distanced layout made it super easy for a wheelchair. As I arrived in, I read the clear directions and learned I was to order at the bar and then find a table. I will admit I typically hate ordering at bars - as a relatively short guy in a wheelchair, I always feel like Oliver asking for more porridge. However, the bartender was super friendly and the process was easy. One person, I'm guessing either the owner or manager, immediately offered to clear me a table and had me a spot waiting after I ordered. I ordered an 8" Pepperoni Pizza along with one of their brews - a Coal Creek Porter. The bill was under twenty bucks and easily within the brewpub range. The pizza was a delight. It was beautifully cooked, especially for a bar, and the pepperoni distribution was generous. I really liked this pizza. The Coal Creek wasn't my favorite, but I enjoyed it and would order it again. The chocolate note at the finish was a nice touch. I only had one - again, I resisted the urge to drink more, but I enjoyed the beer. With sports on their televisions and a decent-sized crowd, this felt like a comfy brewpub with a nice atmosphere. The people were great, the food was awesome, the beer was good, and it gave me a way to relax after having received some bad news. While I'm not from Seattle, I definitely have good memories of this spot and would definitely revisit if/when I return to the area. read more

Great find!! You could tell this gem here is where all the locals go to. I felt like I walked into cheers, they all looked at me like the new guy. Staff was friendly, there was this lumber Jack guy hugging everyone, must've been the owner. You order your food at the bar, so don't be sitting down expecting a waitress to get your order. The beers were tasty and the pizza was delicious. Slightly greases but nonetheless pizza was on point. Smacking!! The feel, the vibe is that of a local bar. We stumbled into this amazing pub near UW - we walked around campus for the cherry blossom festivities. Afterwards stumbled onto this gem, its ambience purely pub like which reminded me of London pubs. There was ample seating; bar, indoor & outside patio with lights. They also have TV's for those sports fans. Street parking is available or UW garage- it's free on Sundays. This is a pub where you order at the bar & their friendly staffs delivers yummies to your table. We've had chicken wings which the batter was crispy and tasty seasoning on the chicken. Nachos came out fully loaded with all the yummy toppings. Pizza was delicious; Hot, crispy crust with generous toppings. Ofc we've also had their burgers (forgot to take pix) & surprisingly the meat was juicy & flavorful, came with pickles and salad or fries...Omg! Fries were so crispy! They were the perfect combination with beer; we had a pitcher plus side orders to try local IPA's- you won't be disappointed! I came here for the Sunday afternoon meet up gaming group. They have a whole back room reserved for Sunday gaming which I love!! Thank you for doing that! Atmosphere: a little dead on the weekend (that's probably why they are able to reserve a whole back room for us gamers) but it's probably hopping during the week. The college kids are all probably out of town on the weekends. Food: I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food here. I've had their burgers, chips, and fries.... Oh. My. God. The FRIES. I haven't had such great fries since high school (aka. a long time ago)! I use to dream about those fries!! They are Super crispy and flavorful and has such great texture. I got the burger just to get the fries because I didn't want to look like a pig just eating a giant plate of fries.....so worth it!!! The burger comes with many fries too! First, in a City known for a rich microbrewery culture, Big Time is the OG Seattle Brew Pub (Brew their OWN beer AND serve food not just a rotating selection of food trucks out front) Bartender / server was very pleasant, was quick to get us manus and answered questions. I was happy with her explanation of what was on the taps and the food offerings. They have a selection of styles not the typical 6 IPAs with a Pilsner, Ale, and a Cider/Seltzer. The Bar/Seating area looks like a long established neighborhood bar. Food is a nice range of bar tried and true and local favorites (Fish and Chips, Pork Verde Tacos are two standouts) If you're in the area and want to get a good meal and a not-mass market brew at a long lasting fixture you should definitely try out Big Time! read more
