    Shepards Pie....sooooo good!

Ive been hoping to come across a place like this. It has vibes of when Seattle was a much cooler place. I loved my dish & all my friends loved what they ordered. Definitely intend to visit again soon. You can tell the owners love what they do & their clientelle.

    Skillet brownie and bread pudding.

We've found our new favorite place! Great food, excellent service, and a lot of fun!!! It was truly fantastic. We went with a little bit of everything: warm pretzel with cheese, pot of pickles, cheeseburgers, pickled egg, sausage roll, steak frites (perfectly medium rare steak), skillet brownie, and the OMG best bread pudding ever! It's possible there were seconds of the sausage rolls and pickled egg because Vance is a genius in the kitchen. (Don't tell him, he'll get a big head, but look for his boxing picture.)

Stopped in for Sunday brunch. It was quiet and easy, which we needed. The drinks were lovely. The service was attentive but chill. The food was delicious and piping hot. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, which had a huge piece of fried chicken and tasty pickled onions. The breakfast potatoes were flavorful and didnt need anything added, but the house made ketchup is a great option. My friend got a burger and truffle fries, which are staples and perfectly executed. Be sure to specify how you like your eggs, if sunny side up isn't your fave. Will be back!

While visiting Seattle and running errands with my friend, this Irish pub is located in a more residential area closer to Queen Anne I think? We stopped by for a drink for happy hour. There's seating both inside and outside and for all ages but the bar is only for 21+ and we opted to sit outside. Me and my friend both got their Irish Breakfast Manhattans which were super strong and good! We thought about getting the pretzel which looked really good in reviews but we didn't have much time to stop and eat. The food and service looked good from what we saw. Located right at the corner. But such a good Irish pub! Parking can be a little difficult as it's in a residential area but if you loop around you'll find something.

We had a nice evening on a charming patio with our dog. We stopped in for a cocktail and some appetizers. The pot of pickled veggies was dynamite. There was a full bar and the bartender knew how to make delicious cocktails. The warm pretzel was what you would expect. The mustard was good. The beer cheese was watery and bland. We also had soda bread which was great. All of the employees stopped by once with food, a drink, or to say hi to us and our dog. I'll for sure go back.

Food menu, lots of variety and flavors

I love the different food options and the homey vibe this pub brings to the neighborhood. They have lots of drinks to choose from, some fascinating cocktails, and a solid food menu. There's even a nice patio that I sat at during a sunny winter day, it's even nicer during the summertime. The upstairs is great for catching games or hanging with a group, and they have a full bar service up there so you don't need to worry about anything. Just come on in and have a good time with friends around a great local restaurant. The new owners freshened everything up, from the food to the decor but everything still has character. I know folks miss the strong mac n cheese of days' past, but this one is still great! It's thick, cheesy, has a sneak attack of pickled red onion that elevate the dish and are just really lovely complements to the whole bowl. I am not normally one to order salads at restaurants because they tend to be the usual culprits, but these salads are worth coming out for. They are filling (today I could only get the pea salad but their house also has another tasty dressing), and unique. I've tried nearly everything on their menu and am always pleasantly surprised at the balance and flavor in everything I order. The food comes out hot and consistent. Do stop by and support your neighborhood pub when you can, you will enjoy yourself.

We ordered the Irish chowder, and corned beef and cabbage with mash potatoes, and a glass of Guinness beer. The chowder tasted like any chowder I had before but this came with soda bread, and the bread was really good. The corned beef dish was also delicious. Lots of flavor to it and certainly not salty. The cabbage (carrots and string beans) paired well with the mash and the beef. Service was quick and non- bothersome. Our waiter came to check in when they needed to and not when we were about to stuff food in our mouth which happens far too often than I would like to share. As for the establishment itself, it is quite dark, which all align with what pubs would be. Interesting to say though that the walls were adorned with art and the right pillar where we sat had a frame of what looked to be a collection of irish stamps. It was pretty neat to look at.

Bartender recommended - no, suggested - a red ale similar to Smithwick's. It is not Smithwick's. I don't really remember the food, and I suspect that's a good thing. I asked the waiter if the corned beef and cabbage was good. He said, "We are an Irish bar." When gently pressed, he added, "A lot of people order it." The staff doesn't seem to think there's much to recommend at Kell's these days and I'm inclined to agree. 3 stars for some good memories, they still put on live music, and the fact that while nothing was great, nothing was terrible either.

The venue inside was very quaint and felt like how an Irish Pub should be. The live artists they had were great and very talented. Had the whole room filled with excitement, dancing, and laughter, all that I was looking for in this holiday. Entertainment aside though, the bartending section wasn't the best. Similar experience to what some Yelpers have mentioned, the service wasn't too friendly. I understand it was a busy and stressful night for the two men working, and ordering was a little disorganised. Tried ordering Irish Coffees, but the bartender said "no coffees" and they moved on to the next customer. I'm sorry, I know you had to tend to the next people, but you didn't even give us a chance to tell you what we alternatively wanted instead. That was rude. And then they ignored my group for ten minutes until we were finally able to grab their attention again. We ended up ordering a Guinness for everyone, and paid the tab right away. The bartenders then took the tab back, and took care of the other customers. We saw them pour our Guinness, but then left it sitting back there for quite a bit. We were just straight staring at it, wondering if we were going to be handed it? It wasn't until we spoke up that they gave our drinks to us. It was served in plastic cups which isn't a big issue, but I liked the glass cups better from the previous bar we went to. After that we brought our drinks over to whichever table was open in the side room. Not the cleanest pub as the only table we were able to get was filled with many empty cups and cans piled in the middle of the table. Again, I understand it was a busy night, but there could have been at least one staff member going around the place making sure things get cleaned up. It was also quite warm in the main room, but luckily the side room had a window opened for cool air. To be completely honest though, if it wasn't for the live music and environment - Owl'n Thistle would've earned my first ever one star review. Maybe on a normal night I would want to give this place another chance due to the holiday circumstances, but other reviews on a normal day seems to describe a similar disappointing experience.
