Bangers & Mash (top), Irish Potato Skins (middle), Shepherd's Pie (bottom)

We finally got the chance to check this place out for St. Patrick's Day, and it did not disappoint. The food could have been better than I hoped, but the drinks and vibes were most definitely here. Love the dark cherry wood throughout and the amazing service. FYI, they also have a few arcade games in the back. We ordered: Pot Pie - This was a bit strange because the Pie is topped with a flaky puff pastry instead of it being a pie we're accustomed to where the pie filling sits within the breaded/puff pastry. The inside was alright, but the pastry part was delicious! Shepherd's Pie - this was super light and didn't have much flavor, it more like a snack than a meal. Unlike a traditional shepherd's Pie, it wasn't topped with mashed potatoes, and there was hardly any meat inside. Maybe they forgot to top mine with potatoes? Even the menu describes this dish as having a mashed potato topping. :( Bangers & Mash - This was the best dish that we ordered. Savory and filling enough, as compared to the others. The burger sausages were delicious! Snakebites - Special St. Patty's drink special - Guinness and Cider a bunch of Guinness drafts They had a live band singing traditional Irish songs plus a few contemporary songs all night, and the pub hosted the Keith Highlanders Pipe Band, who also played throughout the evening and night. Ngl, the first time the Bagpipe band walked through the pub, everyone was hyped, and some got emotional. Such a fun night! I highly recommend catching their live bands. I'm curious how often they host bands, but it's worth visiting.

Irish pub checklist; Smells like a serious bar Has a large wooden bar Pool tables and or shuffleboard Darts Lots of whiskey Some good pub food Real bartenders that know their shit Do o have to go on! Love me an Irish Pub and this one is great. Music load but not so load you can't talk, football and baseball on tv! Impressive Whiskey and Whisky selections! IYKYK The Irish Potato Skins are pretty good but Do Not Pass in the Fried Shrooms! Fantastic! Drink lots, tell some tales maybe even sing a song! Be sure to ask the Bartenders to recite some of their "World Champion Caliber Limericks!"

I would have to say we couldn't have picked a better spot to pregame before going to watch the Kraken. The energy here is very neighborhood-feel. It gets super busy but they seem to have a very smooth orchestrated seating approach because there was no wait. Service was attentive even though we weren't directly at the bar. We quickly made a friend too, as you're parked fairly close to other drink-only attendees. The bathrooms were clean and drink prices were fair. Walkable to quite a few other spots too (grab a burger at Dick's first! ). Can't wait to go back for more snakebites.

We decided to eat here before a show at Climate Pledge. They have a smaller menu on show days to make sure everyone gets in and out which was nice. We were seated quickly and the hostess was so nice. The place had a typical Irish bar atmosphere minus the music or live band. We both ordered the Sheppards pie for 17.95. Or server seemed overwhelmed and not too sure of the menu. My hubby asked if they had sweet tea and the server said yes. But, it was just regular tea with sugar. Yes, there is a difference. We asked for extra sugar and he forgot. In fact we only saw him a couple times. The meals were so small for that price point. They were served in a very shallow dish. And the Sheppards pie were each so different. The hubbys had lots of meat, meanwhile I had none. I kid you not, not one piece of meat in mine. They also put the salad on the same plate so the salad wasn't cool when it came out. My main issue however was that for the price we were very disappointed in the size of the entree. We actually were both still hungry after leaving and ended up buying over priced food at the show. I wouldn't go back. There's a ton of restaurants around the area and a few we tried were much better.

I wanted to take a moment to thank the great people at T.S. McHugh's, in particular Eric Woods, for helping us orchestrate a very successful company kickoff and book-signing event! Everyone on the team was fun, supportive and accommodating. The ambiance was perfect...we had a section of the pub that could accommodate as many or few as the number of attendees varied in size throughout the evening. The service was top-notch - attentive and never intrusive. We would definitely recommend considering T.S. McHugh's when you host your next event. Thank you for making this important event a success! Guinness was perfectly poured and chilled - delicious. Fish and chips were just okay due to the heavy breading. The fish was good once you got away from the breading. The Reuben Sandwich was awesome - excellent non-fatty and very tender corned beef with tangy sauerkraut and light dressing. The sandwich was not messy. Fries were good. Cap codder cocktail was refreshing. Atmosphere was fun and inviting with exceptionally friendly hosts and wait staff.

We enjoyed a nice meal here. The crowd was clearing out to go to the Kracken game when we arrived so it was pretty empty. The hostess was so kind, and our waiter was great (it was only his 2nd day working!) family enjoyed burgers, fish &chips, Shepards pie and French dip. All was delicious! It was a limited menu for event day, but there were plenty of great options.

So was looking forward to date night with good Irish fare. What we got.....nice people, cold beer and food that any Irishman wouldn't serve. So to note it was event night on reduced menu but was Still lacking everything. The mash was cold, the bangers were good, the onion rings were small portion and size full of oil.l and the Shepard pie was sludge with some " " on top. By far the worst fare I've had at any Irish pub in a very long time. If this is indicative of event night stay away if regular service take your chances.

We ordered the Irish chowder, and corned beef and cabbage with mash potatoes, and a glass of Guinness beer. The chowder tasted like any chowder I had before but this came with soda bread, and the bread was really good. The corned beef dish was also delicious. Lots of flavor to it and certainly not salty. The cabbage (carrots and string beans) paired well with the mash and the beef. Service was quick and non- bothersome. Our waiter came to check in when they needed to and not when we were about to stuff food in our mouth which happens far too often than I would like to share. As for the establishment itself, it is quite dark, which all align with what pubs would be. Interesting to say though that the walls were adorned with art and the right pillar where we sat had a frame of what looked to be a collection of irish stamps. It was pretty neat to look at.

Bartender recommended - no, suggested - a red ale similar to Smithwick's. It is not Smithwick's. I don't really remember the food, and I suspect that's a good thing. I asked the waiter if the corned beef and cabbage was good. He said, "We are an Irish bar." When gently pressed, he added, "A lot of people order it." The staff doesn't seem to think there's much to recommend at Kell's these days and I'm inclined to agree. 3 stars for some good memories, they still put on live music, and the fact that while nothing was great, nothing was terrible either.

The venue inside was very quaint and felt like how an Irish Pub should be. The live artists they had were great and very talented. Had the whole room filled with excitement, dancing, and laughter, all that I was looking for in this holiday. Entertainment aside though, the bartending section wasn't the best. Similar experience to what some Yelpers have mentioned, the service wasn't too friendly. I understand it was a busy and stressful night for the two men working, and ordering was a little disorganised. Tried ordering Irish Coffees, but the bartender said "no coffees" and they moved on to the next customer. I'm sorry, I know you had to tend to the next people, but you didn't even give us a chance to tell you what we alternatively wanted instead. That was rude. And then they ignored my group for ten minutes until we were finally able to grab their attention again. We ended up ordering a Guinness for everyone, and paid the tab right away. The bartenders then took the tab back, and took care of the other customers. We saw them pour our Guinness, but then left it sitting back there for quite a bit. We were just straight staring at it, wondering if we were going to be handed it? It wasn't until we spoke up that they gave our drinks to us. It was served in plastic cups which isn't a big issue, but I liked the glass cups better from the previous bar we went to. After that we brought our drinks over to whichever table was open in the side room. Not the cleanest pub as the only table we were able to get was filled with many empty cups and cans piled in the middle of the table. Again, I understand it was a busy night, but there could have been at least one staff member going around the place making sure things get cleaned up. It was also quite warm in the main room, but luckily the side room had a window opened for cool air. To be completely honest though, if it wasn't for the live music and environment - Owl'n Thistle would've earned my first ever one star review. Maybe on a normal night I would want to give this place another chance due to the holiday circumstances, but other reviews on a normal day seems to describe a similar disappointing experience.

The halibut was perfectly fried: crispy on the outside, tender and flaky inside. The fries were a bit on the softer side, but still flavorful. Surprisingly, the star of the dish for me was the mashed peas--bright, creamy, and elevated by a touch of lemon that brought everything to life. We paired the meal with a dry cider, which went beautifully with the fish. Such a spontaneous and satisfying find. I'd definitely come back--especially for those peas!
