Love the dark cherry wood throughout and the amazing service. FYI, they also have a few arcade games in the back. We ordered: Pot Pie - This was a bit strange because the Pie is topped with a flaky puff pastry instead of it being a pie we're accustomed to where the pie filling sits within the breaded/puff pastry. The inside was alright, but the pastry part was delicious! Shepherd's Pie - this was super light and didn't have much flavor, it more like a snack than a meal. Unlike a traditional shepherd's Pie, it wasn't topped with mashed potatoes, and there was hardly any meat inside. Maybe they forgot to top mine with potatoes? Even the menu describes this dish as having a mashed potato topping. :( Bangers & Mash - This was the best dish that we ordered. Savory and filling enough, as compared to the others. The burger sausages were delicious! Snakebites - Special St. Patty's drink special - Guinness and Cider a bunch of Guinness drafts They had a live band singing traditional Irish songs plus a few contemporary songs all night, and the pub hosted the Keith Highlanders Pipe Band, who also played throughout the evening and night. (3 stars - because we usually like this place) My boyfriend and I actually enjoy coming to TS McHugh's -- it's one of our go-to spots in Lower Queen Anne for a casual drink and some pool. It's got that cozy Irish-pub feel and normally the atmosphere is exactly what we're looking for. But our most recent visit late Halloween night (Friday, Oct 31st) left us feeling pretty disappointed. We came in around 11:45pm after a Halloween party, planning to just unwind for a little bit before closing. We were at the pool table when we accidentally bumped into a glass of beer that someone else had left behind on the ledge. Totally an honest mistake -- we immediately apologized to the bartender as he came over to clean it up. Instead of just acknowledging the apology (or even being a bit annoyed but professional), he said, "No you're not," in the most passive-aggressive way possible. The tone suggested we did it on purpose or were being careless on purpose, which just wasn't the case. Look -- we completely understand that bartending late on Halloween means dealing with a lot of sloppy guests. We weren't trying to cause any problems. But that comment and the attitude that followed really set the wrong tone for the rest of our visit. We felt uncomfortable, singled out, and honestly just unwelcome. And that sucks, especially at a place we actually like. We stayed until they closed at 1am and then left, but the interaction definitely stuck with us. We want to keep coming back -- the pub itself is great, the pool is fun, and most of the staff we've encountered in the past have been friendly. But it would be nice to feel like regular, respectful customers aren't treated like a nuisance for a harmless mistake. I would have to say we couldn't have picked a better spot to pregame before going to watch the Kraken. The energy here is very neighborhood-feel. It gets super busy but they seem to have a very smooth orchestrated seating approach because there was no wait. Service was attentive even though we weren't directly at the bar. We decided to eat here before a show at Climate Pledge. They have a smaller menu on show days to make sure everyone gets in and out which was nice. We were seated quickly and the hostess was so nice. The place had a typical Irish bar atmosphere minus the music or live band. We both ordered the Sheppards pie for 17.95. Or server seemed overwhelmed and not too sure of the menu. My hubby asked if they had sweet tea and the server said yes. But, it was just regular tea with sugar. Yes, there is a difference. We asked for extra sugar and he forgot. In fact we only saw him a couple times. The meals were so small for that price point. They were served in a very shallow dish. And the Sheppards pie were each so different. The hubbys had lots of meat, meanwhile I had none. I kid you not, not one piece of meat in mine. They also put the salad on the same plate so the salad wasn't cool when it came out. My main issue however was that for the price we were very disappointed in the size of the entree. We actually were both still hungry after leaving and ended up buying over priced food at the show. Went to eat lunch at the nearby TS McHughs when a large group of friends and I attended TEDxSeattle at the nearby Marion Oliver McCaw Hall. A friend had picked this place because this was a place nearby that accepted reservations for a large group. True to form, the pub was a short (5 min walk, max) walk away. Upon entering, it was your typical darker interior decor, simple hard wooden chair Irish Pub. The place seemed empty except for our large party (honestly, I don't think an Irish Pub is the first thing that comes to mind for lunch), and we were shown to our reserved table: a long set of tables in an off potentially more private corner of the restaurant. The room was equipped with a full roll-down screen and a new projector. I would imagine this would be good for an evening of beer with the buddies accompanied by a presentation or movie showing. The menu tries to have something for everyone above and beyond the standard burgers and fish and chips, and I was glad for that. The only thing that made me pause for a microsecond was discovering the chicken clubhouse sandwich, comes with two slices of bread, instead of my accustomed three and the accompanying fries were the skinny style of fries instead of my accustomed thick style of fries that I'm akin to seeing in pubs. There seemed to be one poor guy running around serving our party of 16, but kudos to him for handling it so well. Keeping track of all our orders, how each was customized (i.e. salad dressing, cheese or no cheese), and kept all our water glasses topped up was no easy feat. Unfortunately we were limited to the amount of time we had for lunch before we needed to head back. With that in mind, the fact the place was able to take our orders, serve all 16 of us our foods, and have us well watered, fed and paid in just over an hour was an amazing feat. Born and raised in Seattle I always took pride in our legendary local restaurateurs. I once considered any Mick McHugh or Tim Firnstahl restaurant a must for enjoying an evening in Seattle. Long gone is my favorite all-time restaurant "Leshi Lake Cafe". I then turned to F.X. McRory's for my favorite clam chowder (topped with dill) but just not the same. I use to frequent TS McHugh's regularly in the early to mid-1990s and ended up meeting an Irish girl (27 years later still married to her). So TS McHugh's has always had a sentimental spot in our hearts. Having not been to the Lower Queen Anne area in years and tickets to our first Kraken game in hand, we both knew TS McHugh's was our Dinner Destination. We arrived at 4:00 pm and the place was pretty empty except for around the bar and some Crazy Blackhawk fan that kept yelling GO BLACKHAWKS every time someone walked in the door. Got our vaccination cards and ID checked at the door (no hand sanitizer any place to be found). Seated at a booth across from the bar with menus and there we sat... I kept looking around after 15 minutes for a server - finally went to the bar to get us a couple of beers. The waitress finally comes to our table at 4:25 (25 minutes after arriving) and said sorry I thought this table was in another waiter's section... She took our order and brought us another round of beers. I had the French Dip - Bun was good, Meat was cold, Swiss cheese not melted, Au jus dip was watery cold and had no flavor... French fries were outstanding. Wife ordered Bangers and mash (Imagine that an Irish girl ordering Bangers and Mash) On a scale of 1 - 10 (1 being bad), she gave them a 3. she didn't care for the fried cabbage or whatever it was as the side vegetable. I tried it, and I had to try a second bite because it had no flavor at all, and I thought that is weird how can it have no flavor. I asked our server (Aria??) for some horseradish and 15 minutes later (after I had consumed 80% of my french dip) she emerges with some brown goop that looks like it had been in the refrigerator since before the pandemic. It tasted bitter and had a non-recognizable after taste. After we finished I asked for a menu so I could see the dessert choices. Rather than bring me a menu she said "oh it's simple we only have 2 things a Double Brownie Sundae with Ice Cream or a Triple Berry Tart with Blueberries, blackberries, & raspberries topped with whip cream, and Ice Cream. We said that sounds great, we would take the triple berry tart. Dessert shows up pretty quickly and the bar is now packed and the time is 5:15 pm (Climate Pledge opens at 5:30). We looked at it and call her back... I said we ordered the triple berry tart. She said, "Oh they must have changed the menu on me and not told me". She did not say sorry, did not say, I'll take it back, did not say, I'll take it off your check... She said, "Oh they must have changed the menu and not told me". Whatever... We ate it (some sort of apple tart) and it was ok, but not what we ordered and especially not like the dessert she so vividly described to us. Waiting for the check... waiting for the check... put our credit card on the table - she grabs it at 5:40 pm and comes back with only the credit card receipt no itemized bill of what we bought. Never (NOT ONCE) did anyone ask us how our meal was... Had they done so I would have told them on the spot of our issues... Not having been to Seattle restaurant for a while, we could not remember if restaurants in Seattle add the tip, service fee, etc into the check or not... Well, we will never know because we never got the itemized bill and at this point, we just wanted to get to Climate Pledge for the Hockey game. Overall I once held Mick McHugh, Victor Rosellini, Ivar Haglund, Tim Firnstahl & Dick Spady in a class of Seattle restaurateurs whose food I would consume without a thought (like a pig to a trough). This experience has tarnished the legacy and I will always think twice before eating at another Mick McHugh restaurant. This is NOT our T.S. McHugh's - Go for the drinks and stay away from the food (unless you like mediocre bar food). Our service was horrible, but the drinks are still OUTSTANDING... We were visiting Seattle for the first time and needed someplace to go to watch the Suns basketball game. My son found this place within walking distance of our hotel. We greeted by a friendly young man who accommodated our request to sit near a tv and to have it changed to our game. He went above and beyond and gave us the whole pool area in the corner with two TVs! We were in time for happy hour and ordered the mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms and the roasted red pepper hummus. All were tasty! Then we ordered chicken strips (thumbs up from the teen) and three of us ordered the Grilled Alaskan Wild Salmon. Flavor wexcellent on all, Salmon was grilled but a tad over cooked but we still ate it all the mashed potatoes were excellent and the side salad was gourmet with beautiful fresh greens, tomatoes and fed onion. For dessert, we all shared the Brownie and the Berry Tarte and we were all fans!! In summary, excellent service, great menu, mice Happy Hour, good food and entertainment, can't beat that! read more

I was walking through the neighborhood and was looking for a place for a late lunch/early dinner. I had not been in this place for at least 30 years and thought it would a stroll down memory lane. In regards to the interior, there wasn't much of a change except for the video games and TV. A huge negative for this restaurant is the view. It used to a view where you saw buildings, traffic and people walking by. Now you see tents and garbage with street people peeing on themselves. Not really what you want to see when you're eating. Even though the doors were closed the place was freezing. It felt like it was just a few degrees warmer than it was outside, so I asked if they could turn the heat up a little. For food, I went for the BBQ bacon burger and my girlfriend ordered the French dip. When the food arrived, her food looked like what was listed on the menu. Mine, not even close. I was given a cheese burger, no bacon and no BBQ sauce. I could understand if the place was packed and they were swamped in the kitchen, but with two orders, inexcusable. Our server didn't return to our table so I had to get up and find her to tell her I didn't get what I ordered. Normally a server would take the dish and bring it back to the kitchen to get order corrected. She apologized and said she would bring out some bacon and sauce. In regards to the quality of the food, not worth the price they were charging. The meat in the French dip was not very good. Probably beef graded Select. My burger was decent, but I could get a better burger at a lower price and the way I ordered it. I gave this place 2 stars since I had to ask for everything rather than having everything correct from the start. Follow-up on what was brought out was minimal.
