A long time coming as Murphy's is right in my neighborhood and hadn't visited. Glad I've done so as rumors start warm that Murphy's and other neighboring buildings may be sold off. I Stopped by Murphys while doing a bit of bar hopping with a friend. We decided to grab some food here while at it. Wouldn't you know it, it was steak Wednesday and that's what I decided I'd go with. There are 4 to choose from - Blue Cheese Steak, Surf n Turf, Steak Oscar and Steak and Fries. I went with the Steak Oscar - which features crab meat, whiskey cream sauce, gravy and veggies. It came out great and as described, nice and tender, the sauce was a great addition, didn't need anything extra. It went great with a couple of pints. It's often crowded here but was able to appreciate watching some sport highlights with company and good meal. If their quiet nights are like in my visit it would be a shame for such a long-standing pub to go. read more

I've not been here in a great while. Hubby wanted pub food, so we decided to check out Murphy's Pub. Shepherd's Pie was delish and hubby's Paddy Melt was tasty too. I'm interested in coming back for the fish & chips, which is served on Fridays. Good food with great service. read more

What is there not to like about Murphys? I love a good old historical building with some history and Murphys has got it. Great vibes inside, good selection of drinks, and a back patio if you're not feeling it inside! Prompt service even when it's busy during trivia nights, can't ask for more! Love this spot! read more

The new owners have destroyed this magnificent bar. On multiple occasions, myself and friends have experienced rude behavior, especially to the female customers. The staff used to be the main reason a lot of us came to Murphy's. Hard working, congenial people who loved being there. Most of the good staff have either quit or have been fired. These owners appear to be new to the bar ownership game. They will need to rethink how they operate or they'll be bankrupt in a year. So sad. read more

This used to be an Irish bar that played Irish music. As I'm sitting here having a really not-that-great cocktail with a portion half what it used to be, I have heard Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Extreme and Metallica. I know this place got bought recently, and I am placing this solely on the owner. You bought a neighborhood Irish bar and fucked the atmosphere. Some of the live "entertainment" that has shown up in the past month is unfit for this place. We come here for the atmosphere, the employees, and the food (which thankfully seems to still be the same). Not sure how much longer I can support this place as regularly as I once did. Not the healthiest options, but nothing beats the food here after a long day in the office, plus a little whiskey on the side. Big fan of the sandwiches, the beef stew, and that soda bread. Scotch Eggs are nice too if you can squeeze that in. The space is large, but it can get tight in here during prime time. Haven't been to Murphys in decades but it delivered even better vibes and food than I remember from the 90s. Fun.

I hate to leave a bad review, because Murphy's is one of our neighborhood pubs, and my family and I really want to support it. It has lovely ambiance, acceptable pub grub, and good live music. But today, for the third time in a row, the service was non-existent. We stopped in on a slow afternoon to have a beer and some food. There was one person working, and he never even looked up. Just kept his eyes and full attention on the bar, and the two(!) people sitting there. We were hungry, and there was only one other table-seated party in the place besides us. But after over ten minutes of waiting, we left and looked for another place to eat. And as mentioned, this wasn't the first time. Once, we waited 45 minutes for food after ordering. When our waiter brought the check, he apologized profusely for the food wait, and said our drinks would be free, as an apology. But the guy working the bar (not our waiter), took the check from my hand, took it back up to the bar, and put the drinks back on it. Yet another time, we finished our meal and waited over thirty minutes for the check, I don't understand it. We're always polite to the staff, and we tip generously. Is it because we often have a kid with us? Or do all customers have the same experience? Once, I was paying the cover charge there for St. Patrick's Day, in the early evening. I commented to the woman working the door that it was nice to have an Irish pub within walking distance. She replied, "we're open other days of the year too, you know." Yes, I know. And I have tried to be supportive of this beloved local neighborhood pub. But the service is consistently glacial in both speed and warmth. Hence, I tend to look for other restaurants and watering holes. It saddens me, because I really want to love Murphy's. Maybe I'll go back if the service gets better. But based on past experience, I doubt that will happen any time soon. read more

Some of the best Irish/comfort food I've had in Seattle. Fried chicken dinner is amazing, good portion size and very reasonable price, especially considering the average price eating out these days. My friends and I came to Murphy's for the first time this past St. Patrick's Day. As expected, this Irish pub was booming with people. We arrived around midnight and were able to get in without having to wait in line. Note there is a $10 cover fee CASH ONLY when you enter. I'm not sure if they have a cover fee every night, or if it's only because they had live music that night. My group made our way to the bar and we're able to get service within ten minutes. Most of my friends got Guinness, but I opted for a simple Two Towns Cider on tap ($9 plus tip). The cider was crisp and fresh. After grabbing our drinks, we found a standing spot in the back as all tables were taken. We probably could've found seating outside on the patio though. We were hoping the kitchen would still be open, but there kitchen closes at 11 or 12 (I couldn't find an exact time anywhere). I was a little disappointed because their famous Reuben sandwich looks absolutely delicious and so I'll have to come back for that! The restaurant itself isn't super clean if I'm being honest. The outdoor patio is fine, but the floors inside are stickier than a frat house floor. It was like I was stepping in honey with every foot forward. There was also food on the ground and someone else's leftover food sitting on the window ledge that wasn't picked up until we left. The live music was decent and the lineup had a good selection of songs. It was very loud, but it was a St. Patty's Day party after all. Our whole family loves Murphy's - the baby and the dog! We really appreciate that it's dog-friendly inside. The atmosphere is warm and authentic with really good vibes - it gives us that feeling of home (we moved from Ireland a decade ago). The Irish nachos and fish and chips are our go-tos, and the Guinness is always poured right. Eamonn (the owner) is a top guy, and all the staff are so welcoming. 21+ cute little joint. The service was good, the drinks were tasty. The food was awesome. We tried the Irish nachos, the crispy brussel sprouts, and the shepherds pie. The Irish nachos were perfectly cooked, and all of the toppings were perfect compliments to the potatoes. I wish I had ordered no jalapeños because I don't do spicy, but after pulling them off the spice wasn't too bad. The Brussels were well seasoned and the bacon and pecans were crispy compliments. I wish the Brussels themselves were a little crispier, but the flavor was awesome. The shepherd's pie was good, not over the top delicious, but good. The bread was decent. It was hearty and earthy and went well with the gravy. Overall, a super good experience. I would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area. read more

Fiiinaaalllyyy properly made fish and chips!!! They were awesome. We also had the Scottish eggs and the beef stew that did not come in a bread bowl but was adequately paired with a slice of sourdough buttered bread that was amazing, the bowl might have been too much! The bar tender made me a "black velvet" (Guinness and strawberry cider) it was amazing. The atmosphere was cool and laid back, they had a live band playing soulful bluesy music, good crowd and the service was awesome. Will definitely come back whenever we're in Seattle. read more

Murphy's is just about as classic as an Irish pub can get. There's lots of dark wood, stained glass windows, and (of course) plenty of Guinness on tap. They offer the requisite Irish pub-inspired dishes, like stew and fish & chips, along with a few healthier options to cater to the active Seattle crowd. They have a pretty well hidden beer garden that's lovely on a warm evening. They have lots of great local beers on tap, but I usually grab my fave Irish bar drink: an immortal Black 'n Tan. Their trivia nights (held twice a week) are super fun. I've been a few times now and there's always a large crowd. Service can (understandably) be a little slow when it's busy, so I try to settle up my tab before the trivia rounds are finished. read more

The best Irish pub I've ever been to! Awesome staff, atmosphere, food (including the specials) and selection of beers especially the Guinness! You definitely must stop by on a Thursday night for their trivia. I've never done a trivia like theirs, and now I don't want to play trivia anywhere else! The layout of trivia is just so unique and is very interactive. Get there early though because it gets packed! Finally made it back yesterday & happy to report they've fixed the Reuben and it's now the best I've ever had and I can't wait to go back and have another one. But, the order of fish & chips for $14 only had 2 small pieces of fish. We arrived at 1:55pm on Sunday afternoon looking for a bite & a pint and the Sounders match to watch. Our excellent server Princess Katie put the TV on the right channel for us. She is a rockstar. Fabulous service. Great staff and great food, and kid-friendly. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly. Good selection of beers. We've eaten at Irish pubs in many cities, and the food at Murphy's is the best. I'm not sure if Irish Gourmet" is a term, but it accurately describes this place! I had the Reuben - really good corned beef, the kraut was just the right tang (tasty but didn't overpower the sandwich like at other places), and the marble rye was excellent. Wife had the Paddy Melt (also on the marble rye) and said it was one of the best she's had. Kiddos had the Mac and cheese and chicken strips and scarfed them down. Murphy's is a great pub all around! We have been going here for a few years and somehow they just keep getting better. They got new ownership a few years back so if you came here a long time ago and didn't love it, I would give them another try. That's what happened to us. With the new ownership the food is so much better! We love their sandwiches, wings, corned beef and meatloaf. They also have lots of entertainment for you to enjoy. From tvs at the bar to watch sports, an outside patio in the back, live music on weekends and trivia during the week. I think the best think about Murphy's is their service. They treat you like family and are just good people. It has really become one of our go to spots weekly. Apparently, it has become a lot of people's go to spot b/c they are always busy!
