I've spent some time in Teddys. For a couple of years, I'd travel to Seattle for work, & Teddy's was a convenient easy spot to grab an evening drink before I retired for the day. They sell drinks, they have tvs, outdoor ping pong, indoor pool tables. Bartenders were polite and served me with no issue. So, plus: dependable spot that serves alcohol. There's also a smoking area on the outside patio for those who do that. I see people calling this a dive. Maybe because this part of Seattle is becoming gentrified, Teddys is seen as a dive, but no, I don't' think its a dive at all. I think its an aging sports bar in a neighborhood that has high rise condos being propped up left and right. In some respects, that might be part of its charm. It's a throwback to what normal neighborhood sports bars were like in Seattle. But it's aging, and I don't think the employees are keeping things polished like they once did. That doesn't mean its a dive though. My times in Seattle visiting this bar were in August. Maybe their is a busier time of year, but I found the bar to be really sleepy and not much going on. I somewhat judge a bar on the kind of people I meet and talk to, but I really never found like minded folks or interesting topics here. I think this is a fine bar for grabbing a drink, especially if you don't feel like 'going out', but I wouldn't go out of my way to spend an evening here. Your experience is what you make it: bring the right crowd and you could have the time of your life. I wouldn't show up expecting the right crowd to already be there though. I bring all my first dates here and the bartenders definitely know me but don't ever sell me out ;) I make friends every time I come solo. I appreciate that even though you never know what crowd you'll get, it's always well managed (no fights, no problematic drunks, no underage kids) and drinks are solid. I went here for a game not and not necessarily for the beer. It was too dark for me for either experience. I did chat with the bartender and he was a nice enough guy. Even chatted with another patron who was a local regular. I am not a fan of dark places to eat and drink these days. Every time I stop into this bar I have fun. I think the music gives off a punk rock bar vibe that makes me feel at home. I heard Op Ivy and NoFx in my short time there last night. They have a fun hot nuts selection and bags of chips. Drinks are great and when the regular bartender is there I recommend getting an old fashioned. This bar is fun and has a dive feel but with a nice restroom that is a little better than a standard dive bar. They also have a lovely sweet, hidden back patio. read more

My favorite bar in all of Seattle. It is a basic, semi-dive that just serves up adult beverages to an easy-going clientele. The music is low, there are a few pool tables inside, a patio and ping pong table out back, and around 10-12 TVs showing sports at all times. NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, etc. The owner and the bartenders are all great guys. Most of the regulars are a good group of people. Laid back yet friendly. Not a lot of college-aged alpha male D-bags pumping their fists at Teddys, thankfully. I had the worst bar-going experience ever here the other night. I guess I've just grown used to people who work in the bars around here actually being friendly... The manager of this bar openly discriminated against me on 11/10/17 for having a SERVICE dog and made me feel so incredibly unwelcome that I will NEVER be back; except to get an apology from the rude guy with his hands up in this picture. I know the laws, he clearly DOES NOT. In short, what happened: My 3 friends and I try to enter, the manager says, rudely, right off the bat, "Yeah no dogs allowed." I told him she was a service dog and he asked me for "papers or identification." I told him there was no such thing as a "national service dog registry" or cards identifying a dog as a service dog and he insisted that there IS a national service dog registry. (LOL, those sites are SCAMS!) I told him I had accidentally forgotten her service dog vest at home (which I do have, and usually put on when going new places to avoid situations like this). I attempted to explain to him that there are two questions he is allowed to ask me to determine if she is a service dog, but that she's not legally required to have any identification, at which point he said, "Yeah no, the health department told me they need papers, I can't let you in." I told him it's illegal to refuse entry to someone with a service dog and instead of hearing me out, he became ruder, and said, "Can't you just find somewhere else to go?" I asked him, "Can't you just follow the law?" He continued to get more upset, practically physically blocking me from entering the building and stating, "Can you just go? You don't have papers, she's not a service dog" I told him I wasn't going to purchase fake papers online when I have a real note from my doctor (which I certainly don't have to produce to a bartender!). He then told me, "I know you're lying and that she's not a real service dog because you said you weren't going to buy fake papers." I can't even begin to explain to you the level of incompetence exhibited by this man! I tried to show him the law on my phone, and he just refused to look at it and told me to go somewhere else. When I said, "Ok so just so be clear you're discriminating against a person with a disability?" He sarcastically said, "yeah ok sure." I almost didn't believe he was the manager, based on how rude he was being, so I took his picture in case I needed it in the future. I should have left sooner, but I kept thinking "if I try to reason with this guy, like I have so many other people, he'll look up the law, and be informed." NOPE. UNBELIEVABLE. Teddy's knows EXACTLY what Teddy's is trying to be and for those unsure if Teddy knows...they do. With crisp draft beers (note the clean draft lines and impressive selection of 8-10 beers for such a small shop) and multiple pool tables usually wide open, this is a great happy hour or casual hang out spot for your crew. While the decor hasn't been updated in a while, the ambiance jives together in a divey yet controlled and cleanish fashion. I didn't have a chance to peruse the spirit menu, but there looked to be a few mainstay offerings at reasonable price points. This is a perfect location for a quick drink or afternoon hangout. This is a fine tavern. Located in a great location on 65th, Teddy's is a nice place to duck in and grab a few beers or a cocktail. Teddy's is not a glam bar which makes it a good place to hang with the guys and the team of friendly bartenders makes this place special. Teddy's has a couple of pool tables and a plethora of TVs. They are always busy for the big sports games. I've seen some east coast hockey (you remember that sport right) there too and they were willing to accomodate for me. The only downside is the limited kitchen which isn't always open so if you get the munchies with your brew you may not always have great options. All in all a nice place worth stopping by. read more

Teddy's has great potential due to their prime location and the amount of area the bar occupies. But unfortunately the few times I have been here, it just hasn't been fun. Teddy's has two main draws: ping pong table and fresh squeezed fruit drinks. I am an avid table tennis player and have been to every ping pong bar in Seattle. Teddy's is by far the worst. The middle aged regulars control the single outdoor table with an iron grip, not allowing any newcomers to play. There is a sign-up sheet but what they don't tell you is regulars can jump line and play any time they want. The last time I went here, I waited 2 hours to play and kept seeing the same people return to play five times but never actually got my turn. The owners don't do anything to regulate traffic on the ping pong table. Meanwhile the outdoor patio is engulfed in cigarette smoke as you play ping pong because it is also the designated smoking area. Charming! As for the fresh squeezed juice drink. If you observe carefully you will find that there are no juicers behind the bar. So when is the juice 'freshly' squeezed? It could be a month ago and then refrigerated. Also they provide no information besides the ambiguous 'fresh'. Is it organic? is it preservative free? My guess is none of these are true. Meanwhile they tack on another $3 on the drinks because apparently they are 'freshly' squeezed. Lastly, the entire bar area smells like bathroom. I kid you not! they must clean their restrooms so infrequently that a large portion of the bar smells of urine. Other reviewers have mentioned this. If you are looking for a ping pong bar, try the Eastlake Zoo. The playing is fair and people are far friendlier. You will not lose a lung to passive smoking while trying to play here. read more

Totally great little hole in the wall hang out. Especially when you can pop in next door and get some frozen custard! As a fan of hockey, I appreciate knowing there's a bar that plays games on their TVs. Oh and let's not forget the ping pong tables! I always struggle with the distinction between a dive an a neighborhood bars. A dive usually has no windows, cheap drinks, pool table and bartenders that have been there forever. A neighborhood bar seems to have the same thing except that it is located inside of a neighborhood. So since Teddy's is located in a neighborhood let's just call it your friendly neighborhood bar. Some of the things Teddy's has going for it include: It's located very close to the intersection of the Roosevelt, Greenlake and Ravenna neighborhoods so it's within walking distance for a lot of people. It has relatively inexpensive drinks and sells pitchers of some really great beers Pool tables, pin ball machines and video games for your entertainment pleasure A large patio in the back with pick up pin ball games going whenever the weather is nice out And let's not forget one of the great things about this place is that it has plenty of televisions. I mean this is a great place to watch a game. The bartenders are usually really good about changing the channel to the game that you feel like watching as well. About the only real negative about Teddy's is that they don't serve food but this is actually a positive. They don't serve food since they don't have a kitchen BUT they are totally ok with you either bringing food in from outside or ordering food from somewhere else and having it delivered to you. The burger place across the street (Rain City Burgers) actually delivers food here and they keep menus for it behind the bar. I actually like the fact that they don't serve food because it allows you to order whatever you want to eat without being limited by a bar menu. Overall I think this is a great place to hang out and recommend it to anyone that wants to watch a game, grab a beer with friends or play pool with some friendly people in your neighborhood. read more

So to round out our night after the 2 boots...we decided to finish our late night here at Teddy's. It is just a laid back sports bar type feel...with a very local hangout type crowd. And I just love that! We decided to go out to the patio out back and get our drink on out there! HAHA We were just ordering pitchers of beer and their version of an O Bomb shot...the service was great and I couldn't have asked for friendlier bartenders! There is also a ping pong table in the back and my husband and brother-in-law were attempting to play...but when you are too blitzed to even see the ball...yeah...that's not really working. Pretty cool place. One of those old places that is surprisingly clean, serving up carefully prepared drinks with fresh juices. There's even arcade games in the back. How does Teddy's compare to other dive bars I've been to? Five stars. Cleaner than most, friendlier than most. It's one of my favorite places to watch a Seahawks game due to the inexpensive beer, availability of seating for a group and the ability to bring in your own food. There is Pizza/Indian/Thai/Mexican/Burgers/Vegan etc. within 1 block. If it's raining out, you can even order Rain City Burgers from the bartender. Never die Teddy's! read more

This is THE dive bar on Roosevelt. It's been around along time and has a strong following of regulars. Also gets new faces in as Roosevelt is a growing community. My favorite is a sunny weekend evening at Teddy's when it's still light enough to play ping pong and enjoy a Vodka Collins on the back patio. I just wish they would let me bring my dogs out to the patio... especially since they don't even serve food here. What a great local watering hole. Friendly bartenders, weird decor, and some of the best cheap cocktails around. Fresh squeezed juices! These guys do not mess around. Going to Teddy's is like hanging out in your cool uncle's game room. Pool, darts, and pinball inside. The enormous outdoor patio has ping-pong tables. The beer selection (12 taps maybe) is not huge but always has some good options. With cocktails this good though, even a beer lover like me might opt for a greyhound instead of a pint. It is actually a little weird how a bar this down to earth has drinks this good. All part of the Teddy's experience I guess. Everyone is welcome here. There really is no scene. I love dive bars in Seattle, because they can have 1). fine microbrews: 2). cocktails with freshly squeezed juice; and 3). PBR. In my hometown of Peoria, IL, you can only get one, and that's because we used to have a PBR brewery in town until it burned down. Teddy's has some nice surprises that you normally won't expect, such as fresh juice in cocktails, some nice liquor choices (Bulleit Bourbon) and a well-selected choice of local microbrews, but one thing you won't find is any pretension or attitude. The place can get very crowded on weekends, so pick a weeknight if you don't like crowds. With a pool table and dart board and a carpeted floor, Teddy's definitely feels like the taverns of the Great Midwest, but with great drinks and service. read more

I am giving Teddy's five stars, because failing to do so would be like telling my mom she's a slut. There a couple of things about Teddy's that make it stand out. One is the ping pong table in the back. In the summer or spring, it makes for a lovely afternoon, so relaxed and laid back. But I love Teddy's because of Dan, Hans, and Colin -- in other words, those guys are like Sam and Coach and Woody. They are good people who know what you like to order, who love what they do and love meeting all the fine people who frequent the joint. What can I say? Teddy's will always be my bar. And in general it's laid back and a great place to meet friends for a beer when you just want to relax and shoot the shit. Teddy's Tavern is one of my favorite places to hit up for a good drink with good company. The bar itself is like a nostalgic sports bar with a twist of dive and a generous helping of Cheers. This place is never too crowded, and there's never been a line when I've gone. It's also a great place to play a game of pool or watch a game without all the crazy college kids. It never gets too loud here and you never have to compete with other tables to have an audible conversation. There's a rumor they serve food? I've never seen anything other than the nut bar and the chip selection. However, these guys welcome you to bring in take-out to have with your beer. Once, my husband's soccer team came in after a game and ordered pizzas. The bartender brought out paper plates and napkins for us without us even asking!
