Old 5th Avenue Tavern - Menus - Bars Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Ended up here on a random weekday night to grab drinks and food before a game. And we were extremely disappointed.. like laughable disappointment. The bar and restrooms are clean. Small parking lot in behind the building and there's a pool table in the back corner of the bar. It's a nice local bar but you also feel that "see a new face, give a stink face" service that I'm noticing Seattle local bars/restaurants do a lot. The food is mediocre to disgusting. It is made by the bartender (which we wish we knew beforehand). Just from that knowledge, you already picture a certain quality of food. It was actually worst than we thought it'd be. We ordered drinks, Mac n cheese, hot dog & chips, and their special homemade recipe of Swedish meatballs. We were excited to taste all of it and were super hungry. Skip the meatballs, it tasted worst than Walmart brand meatballs. It had an obvious cardboard and processed texture and taste. They tried to mask it with mash potatoes but the quality of the mash potatoes couldn't be hidden. The only thing that saves the meal throughout was the garlic bread. If you're lit, the food won't matter but you'll definitely feel it on the toilet later. The hot dog and chips came 10mins after the rest of the food came and that was kinda lame. It was the fasted thing to make but still had to wait for awhile for a simple dish. Plus it was just potato chips, not fries so what's taking so long. read more

I tried to hang in, but I just ended up talking to old people. That is what it is and I love geriatrics/ work in it but- owner is cuddly on surface, but terribly subjective as far a people. Honestly, I was waiting until I saw a cute girl walk in, never happened. This review is not based on looks, as if I am all that, just to say, for me to get a pulse in there during a 10$ beer y whiskey- pulling teeth. This review is based off of never feeling good after. Gem of the neighborhood, everything a bar should be, and sparkling clean too. Cheers!

When you walk into the Old 5th, you immediately get a sense of the history, the character, and the charm of the place. Wood bar, wood floors, pool table in the back, low lighting, music playing on the new fangled juke box, local regulars peppered around the bar and tables, straightforward bar drinks, and a one woman show in the bartender/owner who keeps everybody pacified efficiently and courteously. You can throw in some chip and nut snacks or some solid daily specials such as Taco Tuesday, and there's no need to leave. People are throwing around the term dive bar like confetti. If you have an affinity for dive bars, then yes, this is a good one. If you turn up your nose at dive bar, then consider the Old 5th not a dive bar, but an institution, a historical landmark, a snapshot of a little piece of Seattle that time forgot and totally worth the visit. read more

Do you like your beer whiff of mildew and a side of homophobia? If so, then this is your bar. After just two watered-down beers the bartender decided that this Queen had had enough, so She cut me off and I sat there and watched straight couples do coke on the booth tables while drinking tequila on the rocks. The bartender could not have been less subtle that she didn't appreciate me there, so I asked for the bill, tipped her 15% and left. I've lived 2 blocks away from this place for 18 years and I'm proud to say there is a reason why I have only been here a handful of times. They are homophobes. This place sucks. Never come here. Hopefully this will be a condo tower soon. read more

Neighborhood bar super clean. Love the owner and bartender. Always have been treated with respect and courtesy ( I'm Asian ) Regular hang out for me when I need a Nom rowdy good ol fashion bar with simple food items and good friends to join. I've introduced so many friends to this place and have never had a complaint. Lots of regulars. Dog friendly. Great outdoor patio now! If you request for another drink and bartender Gives you water... it likely means you should let have anymore to drink and less so another your race. read more

I enjoy this place as it's a fun bar to stop in for a beer. The staff is always nice and the customers , mostly regulars keep to their self but are friendly. They have pool in the back and you can order off their small menu ( the nachos look really good ) or next door at the Hawaiian restaurant. It's definitely a dive bar though and keep your expectations at that level. My 84 year old mom had her first beer here back in the 60s and my grandpa used to come here all the time apparently. Great for watching sports and I always leaving expecting what I would at a local dive bar ! read more

With one drink down and all our senses intact on an early evening to Old 5th Avenue, Bartender Tara kick us out because we dropped a cup. Nothing broke. Though, my friends and I are Asian women and that move was apparently too far for us to do? Like we cannot handle ourselves and alcohol... If you want to have a drink and not be racially profiled don't come here. read more

Old 5th Ave Tav is that classic dive bar - pool table and all - with a very local feel. Sometimes all the fancy over-the-top cocktails and endless lists of craft beers gets old and all you want to do is munch on some good ol' bar food, sip on a refreshing beer, and hang out with your crew. The 5th Ave Tav is perfect for that. I often come here with my wife or a friend or two, order a pitcher of beer, and shoot some pool. It's a great place to spend a few hours without having to deal with crowded bars or drunken twentysomethings (says the twentysomething). We typically spend a few hours here just talking and enjoying a few drinks. I've never tried the food, but I once saw their Thursday special - $2 for a sloppy joe and chips!? Maybe one day... read more

My initial review got flagged because of not enough detail about my experience at Old Fifth. Old fifth is great, the last stand for old-school Seattle. The best menu options are nachos, potpies, and hotdogs. Tuesdays is Taco night, Wednesdays is Spaghetti, and Thursdays is sloppy Joes. Tara, Skyler, and Kyle are the best and I have immense respect for them. Now back to our originally scheduled programming: I got to watch the whole thing. The three drunk Asian girls on 3/27/2021 were refused follow-up service after one of them broke a glass, behaved in a condescending way, and since then has been throwing a fit about racism on the interwebs. For some reason, as an Asian and a regular at this bar, it's my job to refute these three college girls (looks like they are from California). These gals decided to team up on yelp and lash out at a small business (during COVID) rather than just accept responsibility for appearing as drunks at 5PM on a Saturday and being cut off because one of them was slopey. To cry racism when really, you screwed up, is cringey. If you act slopey at this bar, you'll get cut off. That's what a responsible establishment does. Just because this is a dive bar, does not mean that they'll tolerate drunks or bad behavior. They could have just apologized and come back in at a later date and restarted the relationship, but instead decided to air their false grievances out on Yelp. Not super classy and a disservice to those that actually experience and combat racism. These three gals remind me of Jussie Smollett. read more

So happy they are able to be open. They have some heated outdoor seating and safety measures (plexiglass etc) set up inside. Love this bar!

If I could give this bar a 0 if I could. My friends and I (we are Asian) walked to this bar and sat outside. I accidentally dropped my empty glass on the table and the ice spilled over. Tara, the bartender, came over to clean up and I asked for another drink and she came and gave me water and my tab. I am appalled at the passive aggressiveness as I was completely sober. Never go to this bar, she was extremely rude. read more

Great neighborhood dive bar.Tara handles the busy bar by herself and does a great job.love taco Tuesday

I tried this place out by a friend's recommendation and after one visit, I'm a fan! It's a small place and is a bit of a dive, but that's my style. I went on Taco Tuesday, which you can't beat 2 for a buck. There isn't anything fancy about them, but you can dress them us as much as you like at the 'taco station' next to the bar. They had other good deals, too...like $1.50 PBR tall boys after 10pm and $2 Sloppy Joe's on Thursay, which I will be checking out soon.. For a small area, it was fairly crowed and there was just one person working the bar - no servers. She did a great job keeping tabs on us and getting beer and taco refills out to us asap. And, she was friendly on top of it all, which is huge for me because I've had my share of sour service. They have a free parking lot next to the building with plenty of spots. No reason not to check this place out if you like a dive! read more

Went here because we needed a place within walking distance :) very divey with cheap drinks and eats. I give it four stars because the lady working the bar was working alone and still found the time to bus our table, grab more chairs and rearrange tables for my big group. We were outsiders when we came in but were quickly welcomed by the locals. read more

This bar is one of Seattles best kept secrets....if you like a hands-on owner bar (Tara) who cleans daily, works so so hard to keep this place authentic and a neighborhood bar..this is the place for all of us. They even have a parking lot and specials like Taco Tuesday and Sloppy Joe Thursday, and a record plaque for most tacos....Challenge" Rohn read more

There isn't much I can say that hasn't been said. I've been coming to this place (whenever I'm in the neighborhood) for the last 10+ years. It's so small, cozy and divey, and with five TVs all within view of the bar stool or booth, it's a great place to watch sports. This is truly a tiny treasure and is a great place to come to with friends or even alone. Well done! read more

This is one of my few go-to bars. Both the customers and the bartenders are cool and friendly, whether you're a regular or a newbie (or a new regular, like me). And I really like that. Because Seattle in general has the whole "I don't give a s*** about you, but I'll do it in a really friendly way" thing down to a science. (I think this article gets it dead-on: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/pacificnw/2005/0213/cover.html.) And this place ain't that -- not on my first, second, or fifth time here. Your food selections (updated) are: -- Nightly: Nachos and small-batch frozen meals -- Tuesday: Tacos, 2/$1 (tasty and basic! and super-cheap!) -- usually draws a crowd -- Wednesday: Spaghetti & garlic bread -- Thursday: Sloppy Joes ($2? $4? something cheap) A cool, genuine neighborhood bar. I dig it. read more

I love this place! It is a great place to have a drink and take in a baseball game. The food is all carby and cheesy, which isn't a bad thing but you're probably going to go hungry if you're looking for anything healthy. That said, the taco Tuesday is ossum and really good. I've also had the $4 spaghetti (I forget what day they do this, Wednesday?), which is just fine. The nachos, dang, so much cheese, so good! The bartender is great too! read more

Old 5th Avenue Tavern - $4 spaghetti - Bars Near Me - Seattle, Washington

One of the best-kept secrets in Seattle. Low-key atmosphere, friendly people, reasonable prices, strong drinks and free pool. It does not get any better, folks. This is my all-time favorite Seattle watering-hole, and it's hard not to love. $1 Taco Tuesdays, $4 Spaghetti Wednesdays, everything about this place is down-to-earth. Regarding some of the 1 Star comments - all FALSE. This bar is a friendly place for EVERYONE. I never expiranced ANY kind of bigotry or hate here, and Tara is one of the most kind-hearted and decent humans you could meet. read more

This is really like an extended family, a tight knit community, or classic neighborhood bar. Everyone knows everyone, or gets to know them very quickly and easily. Free pool, a juke that needs updating, but good enough. The beer selection is A-Ok seeing as they have ice old Rainier, and then theres that IPA, and Amber stuff too. Sea-Hawk Sunday is always awesome, its pot-luck and drink specials to include Hawkakazzis run all day long. Taco Tuesday, 50 cents tacos, nuff said. read more

Fantastic people, good food, and a strong selection of beer and spirits. What more could you want from a bar?

It's a nice, comfy little neighborhood bar. There are no pretenses at the Old 5th Avenue Tavern, but there are lots of nice little things about it. The crowd consists mostly of neighborhood regulars. It's seldom empty but I haven't usually found it packed except on the $1 Taco Tuesday. The bartenders are friendly and competent, and the place has a cozy vibe. read more

TACO TUESDAYS here are a bargain! 2 for $1 crunch tacos! You too it yourself as well. So if your a cheese and sour cream lover, have at it. Apparently the record is 32, but I've yet to see or come close myself. Good luck! Oh yeah, the usual spirits are offered and the vibe is very casual. Staff are welcoming and kind as well. read more

One of my favorite local bars, the people are great and the staff even better. From $1 Taco Tuesdays to the heaping pile of Nachos for $6. Not a lot of seating and it can get packed fast. Most patrons are regulars and don't mind sharing conversations. read more

This divey watering hole is truely a GEM! I some what don't even want to rave about it on here for fear it will become overcrowded with people that don't deserve to experience it's awesomeness. Taco Tuesday = delicious (and cheap!) Sloppy Joe Thursday = delicious (and cheap). Stiff drinks, excellent bartenders and the owner (Tara) is a complete sweethart. They celebrate Sea Hawks games with Tuba Touchdowns and usually someone brings in an additional, special food item to add to the regularly scheduled bar menu. It's a place that makes you wonder why you don't hang out in Maple Leaf more often. Great bar full of great people! read more

This place was awesome! I was looking for a place to get tacos on a Tuesday and an article came up online about their 2 for $1.00 tacos. It wasn't what I expected, but great nonetheless! One person was working the bar but it wasn't too busy. The tacos were awesome! You can put whatever you want on them and they tasted great. These were crunchy shell tacos. The lady at the bar still had time to ask if we were doing ok and she really rocked it! read more

Friendly bartender, cheap drinks and $1 for 4 songs on the jukebox. I love dive bars.

This is a good dive bar: good people, comfortable atmosphere, some decent beers on tap. The glasses are even clean enough to leave rings when you drink out of them. Beer prices are a little expensive, but a solid neighborhood joint. read more
