I believe that Lucky Envelope is my favorite brewery in the Seattle area. The brewery is well laid out, the people are always super great, and they make all sorts of really interesting beers. I frequent this place when new beers are released and always bring friends with me. They make the only IPA I like, which is the Eniac. I don't tend to like bettering hops, but aromatics are fine by me. My most recent visit I had the Honey Cinnamon Cream Stout and the Blackberry Peach Sour. They were both great! The peanut butter Stout and the gingerbread stout are both favorites. What I want most out of beer is flavor and variety, and they always deliver on both. read more

Lucky Envelope is probably the brewery that comes up with the most exciting beer flavors out of all the other breweries I go to. Many of the unique flavors have been Asian influenced, and/or made with teas, both things I love. Sometimes they're a hit, and sometimes they're a miss. I recently tried their pickle beers: dill pickle, kimchi, and a pickled lime beer. Every single one tasted just like what was described, so they definitely delivered! The vibe here is nice- however, beer release days seem like any other day but with new beers, so it could be more festive (unless I'm showing up too early). They have a few board/card games to play, and there's a large outdoor patio if you prefer to sip outside. Service has been alright. Overall, I love their beer creativity so it keeps me coming back. Finally was able to check this place out! It has been on my list to visit because not only are they minority owned, but they made this Buko Pandan beer years ago that it became one of my favorites. It has been a favorite dessert of mine as a kid and for them to make it into a beer, got me interested. With me buying their beers in stores, I had to check the place out myself. Sadly they ran out of a Pumpkin Stout that I have been dying to try out, but loved their Lychee Sour Ale and Peanut Butter Stout. Both tasted flavorful and just as the description states. Lucky Envelope - "Culturally inspired beer" is their tag line along with using modern and historic brewing techniques. I won't claim to know a lot about brewing, but I do like drinking it and most of the beers I've had here delivered. Some of my favorites have been the "Pumpkin emoji", ENIAC Mosai IPA, Lucky Lager and the Raspberry Sour ale to name a few. all different, but all really good. Most recently as of writing this, the Count Chocula Cream Stout is very good too. So hopefully this will become a seasonal visitor to the Luck Envelope line up. The beer options aren't huge, but the ones on tap are varied and many of them I enjoy. I really like the brew chart so when you get a flight, you can easily keep track of what you're drinking as well having the descriptor or brewer comments on the beer. Like a lot of the breweries in the area, there is a food truck that takes up residence right next to it and there is plenty of seating both indoor and out. Lastly the staff are pretty cool here and you may even get to chat with the owner if he's in. One of the best Breweries of the bunch in Ballard. read more

Lucky Envelope was such a treat! We went during their Lunar New Year event. They were very busy with lots of kids and dogs in attendance. It was so lovely to see people of all ages welcomed into this space. Despite being so busy, the beer tenders were able to work through the line quickly and offered thoughtful recommendations for anyone who asked. I ended up getting a tasting flight with their helles, yuzu Pilsner, white rabbit stout and Sea-Kobe 65th anniversary juicy IPA. Every beer was unique and tasty. Really clean flavors! Came here with some friends this past Saturday to specifically taste the POG Sour. With so many companies beers and ciders that promise a certain taste of tropical fruit you're disappointed. Not with this one. it was very passionfruit forward which we loved. I was at a pop up at Fast Penny and had a cocktail there so Just had a 5 ounce taste. I do like that you can get that size. My friends ordered a couple of flights. They both really liked the Strawberry Kiwi Ale Juice Sour and Mosaic Hazy IPA as well. I didn't have a taste of the Strawberry Kiwi but I did smell it it was like the scent of fresh strawberries. One of our friends ordered a pint of the the Peanut Butter Cream Stout. This one I did try, I don't usually drink stouts but I would definitely order that. Planning to come back and get a four pack of that one for a friend. The space has a bunch of indoor tables some regular tables and some bar level with stools. The main doo opens wife for great ventilation on the 80 degree weather day we were there is also lots of exterior covered seating. The day we were there a taco truck was outside selling food. I like the grab and go fridge it's easy to pick what you want and pay. I bought a four pack each of the POG and the Strawberry Kiwi they put it in a reusable bag. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Lucky Envelope Brewing was not on my radar AT ALL. But after getting the recommendation from multiple beertenders I knew I had to stop by. Lucky Envelope Brewing is a family-friendly craft brewery in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Their brewing philosophy is centered around "Culturally Inspired Beer". The brewery's recipes draw from modern and historic brewing styles and techniques. I got a flight of their beer and was impressed by the quality and ingenuity of flavors. Peanut Butter Cream Stout: A Cream Stout infused with real Peanut Butter. Smooth nutty flavors flow with the chocolate and roast of the base stout. Not in your face sweet, but just enough to bring back memories of PB chocolate ice cream. As a PB lover, I loved this beer. Italian Pilsner: An Italian-Style Pilsner brewed with Weyermann Eraclea Malt that was grown off of Italy's Adriatic Coast and hopped with Saphir and Hallertauer Mittelfrueh during late, whirlpool, and dry hopping. Crisp like a lagger, strong hop bitterness and spiciness. A great version of the Italian Pils. Halo Halo: A Sour made with Ube, Mango, and Coconut. I'm not usually a giant sour beer guy, but this was my favorite beer of the bunch. Reminded me a little of a tropical lassi drink with nice sweetness that wasn't cloying and strong mango / coconut flavors with just a medium-low acidic tartness. Asian-Owned brewery!!!! So cute both inside and out. They have these beautiful painted walls outside representative of Chinese culture. They brew unique, Asian flavors of beer. We tried the lucky envelope lager, Buddha citron IPA, and tangerine milkshake sour. All 3 were yummy! You can even buy some in cans to take home. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. They even have some games, coloring pages, and more for kids. It is also dog friendly!! There is only street parking available but since it is located in a relatively residential area, it was pretty easy to find parking. read more

Yay, finally got the chance to try Lucky Envelope! They've been on my list for some time now, as I don't know of many (if any) other Asian-Owned breweries in the area. This tasting room is a little on the smaller side, but still plenty of seating for guests. The only other people in here when I was here for a coworking session was a table full of moms with their babies - yay for family-friendly spots! The beertender that was working was really sweet and they were nice and clean, and following Covid regulations. I tried two beers - the Buddha's Hand Citron IPA and the ENIAC Mosaic IPA. The Buddha's Hand was really citrusy and refreshing. Loved it. Would be really great on a summer day! The ENIAC was also really good, probably my favorite between the two. There are a few other breweries within walking distance, so if you're nearby or making a beer crawl, be sure to include Lucky Envelope. Definitely worth the try and can't wait to return. read more

6th and final stop on our "pub crawl". We all were looking forward to this stop because they were the only place that had a pumpkin beer on tap. Unfortunately this was the only beer that we tried, because most of the other offerings were IPAs, sours, or just too hoppy for us. The style of this pumpkin beer (cream stout) is one we haven't seen too often. Two of us thought the beer had good flavor and picked up subtle spice characteristics, but I just couldn't get any of it no matter how hard I tried. We took home a four pack to enter in our annual pumpkin beer tasting party, so time will tell how it ranks. Our 6 stop pub crawl adventure was a great way to spend our last day in Seattle. Decided to try a new brewery on our recent visit to Ballard, and in honor of the year of the Dragon we stopped by here. It was packed on a weekend day and we grabbed two of their lighter offerings - current selection skewed IPA and strange mix ins versus the classics. I've been wanting to try Lucky Envelope for the longest time. Although it was loud inside, the outside was chill with heated lamps yay. What I tried: - White rabbit yuzu pilsner: bright but couldn't really taste the rabbit - White rabbit milk stout: tasty, like a creamy root beer, I thought these flavors went together best - Double happiness chai stout: you can def taste the chai, a bit strong though (double happiness eh?) This was stop number one on my "pub crawl." I really wanted to try these sour beers my friend has been raving about but I have never heard of before. There's lots of seating inside and out. Everything is clean. They have a great beer selection and the sour beers, they're a must try! It reminds me of cider but a less harsh option. They had a pineapple one and cucumber one that were both really good and light. The bartenders, or beertenders(?), are super friendly and fun. Loved everything about this place. First, given Lucky Envelope is a little more tucked away than some of the other Ballard breweries, we didn't have to wait too long on a sunny weekend afternoon for an available table. I usually go to breweries bc I find it a fun place/scenery to relax and/or spend time with friends. This place served that purpose AND I LOVED THE BEERS. I hardly ever really say this (I do like beer but hardly do I RAVE about them). I got the Grapefruit IPA and the Peanut Butter Cream Stout. Living in Seattle got me a lot more accustomed to IPAs but I found this grapefruit one to be truly enjoyable!! It really did taste like grapefruit and wasn't super super bitter. The Peanut Butter Cream Stout was SUCH a treat. It literally tasted like a creamy PB milkshake. I was seriously loving it. It was so smooth and sincerely felt like I was drinking a dessert (but at the same time it wasn't too overly sweet). My partner got the guava sour, blackberry lemonade sour, and the red sour. He loved the first two bc you could really taste the fruits but found the last one to be a little too sour. You can bring your own food here -- we did that and brought some coloring materials! In terms of covid guidelines, their setup is super thoughtful. When you order there's a plexiglass between you and the servers and then you seat yourself at one of the outdoor tables. There are staff members cleaning each table right after customers leave. Also I saw one staff member kindly remind a couple people to keep their masks on while not seated. Respectful and also love that she was keeping it safe for herself and the other customers too! read more
