The owner called me an "entitled, condescending pr!ck" previously, which was both surprising yet consistent with how they treat anyone who doesn't agree with them. The ironic thing is that when I'm out at taprooms or bars, I'll sample one of their beers (which is a horrible, selfish ask according to the Cloudburst owners) and can always find something much better on tap. read more

Really nice people and a great brewery. Came here after work as I saw they have a baltic porter (super heavy dark beer) which is one of my favorite styles of beer. Didn't disappoint: rich, big and with a bit of bitterness. Also plenty of alcohol so be careful. IPAs and such smelled great, however I stuck to my norms. Ended up grabbing some merch too. Know they have a few locations so kind of surprised they have tanks and a production facility in the back. Place isn't especially large so appreciate the authenticity there. One of the few Seattle breweries I had not yet visited and decided to pop into ... Actually found my way to both their Pike location and their Shilshole location over the past month, curiously, on stoopid hot days. I have to give them a lot of credit for their pilsners and lagers, with a special thumbs up for their Boho Chic Boutique pils. Both taprooms get high marks for ambience, as do their waitstaff. Was sitting at the bar at their Pike location when a couple walked up and asked in a more-frustrated-than-necessary tone why they don't have any sours on tap. Without a missing a beat, the beertender said, "we just aren't very good at them, that's why." THAT is some real authenticity. Love it. read more

Bought a few beers from this local brewery. Cloudburst has a couple locations, including this one in Belltown close to Pike Place Market. It may be a small one, so it has limited indoor seating. A bit limited in the draft list, but still manages to have quite a few. They also are heated inside so you can stay warm. As small of a brewery as one can be. It's only got a few seats and tables inside. There wasn't much room when we got here, but luckily still could get a table. As expected, it's also limited to what's on the menu. It's about $7 a pint. Best of the ones we got was the Cosmic Lust. This is an IPA with Amarillo, Chinook, Citra, and Galaxy hops, and it's kind of strong. For sure it's a good place to get local beers and hang out even though it gets cramped. It's got this location as well as one in the Ballard neighborhood. This is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. read more

Cloudburst Brewing was the first of many breweries that we visited while in Seattle. You can find them just down the street from Pike Place Market. We walked in and they had about 13 beers available on tap (one was sold out). I had the Endless Summer Nights English Summer Ale and my dad had the No Mistakes German Style Schwarzbier. Seating is a bit limited and they do not have any outdoor seating. It was moderately busy for a Sunday afternoon but we were still able to find a seat inside. I enjoyed my beer well. It had the perfect taste to it when it comes to having a light tasting beer. My dad had other feelings for his beer, saying that it was ok, but not the best around. He described it as way too sweet and chocolatey and couldn't finish the whole thing. This place is fairly small. Think of it like a garage with several tables and barrels inside. Outside there is a water dish for people who bring their dogs here, which is smart for those hot days. They're closed on Monday's and Tuesday's and we're here until Wednesday, with Sunday being the only day we could visit them. read more

Cloudburst Brewing is an IPA heavy brewery with two locations in Seattle. I visited their location closer to downtown (closer to where I was staying at the time) later in the day to try out some of the great beers they have. Sadly for me (great for them!), a lot of them were already sold out by the time I got there in the evening, but I still was able to try two very interesting beers. Say Hi to Your Dad for Me: A West Coast Double Red Ale that took Silver this year at the Great American Beer Festival. They use multiple types of Crystal Malt (crazy right), and a hop bill of Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe, and Mosaic. I'm telling you, this gave me vibes of the old school craft beer movement of heavy Caramel malt based IPAs, bitter goodness, and just a hint of sweetness. Damn delicious if I say so myself. Made me want to put some New Balance shoes on and mow the lawn. Old Tubthumper: A Barrel Aged Blended Barleywine that consists of 55% Aged in Stainless + 30% Aged in Westland American Whiskey Barrels + 15% Aged in Westland Peated Barrels. Much more on the bitter side for a barleywine (old school American Barleywine-esque), some tannins from the wood, and you even get some of that peat character from just that 15%. _____ read more

We did have to wait a while for a table since seats were limited, but once we got a table, we enjoyed every moment. Traveling from Denver, my husband and I are big beer people so of course we had to try a bunch of breweries in the area while visiting Seattle. Cloudburst was high on our list when we heard that they had some collaborations with one of our favorite Denver breweries, Our Mutual Friend. This no-frills brewery has truly perfected its craft. They had a huge selection of great beers, and since I love a good coffee flavor in my beers, I went for the Inquiring Grinds - a milk stout with coffee & cardamom - yum! There's not a ton of seating in here and they don't have food, so we brought our own cheese curds from Beecher's down the street. Good beer + cheese in a chill environment - what's better than that?? Probably you've never had such fresh beer. First time I visited that had 'none more dank', recently I've been enjoying 'search engine optimization'. The names don't matter ask the bar tender and other customers what to get. They have 'food' in the form of little plastic wrapped cheese n cracker snacks. It's not food. I have always liked Cloudburst beer, but my opinion of them went downhill dramatically when they posted on their blog about how terrible people are that ask for a sample of their beer. It's one thing to just say no. We don't give samples here. But they went way out of their way to be snarky, derogatory, and condescending. Even so far as to tell other breweries not to give samples. Cloudburst comes out with a new beer every couple of hours, and generally they are good. But there are some bad ones. Overall this brewery gives great vibes, and has some good beer, but the letdown for me is the crowded atmosphere and the lack of taps. Let me also begin by mentioning NO SAMPLES! Big no no in the brewery business in my opinion. You have to hope and pray that by the staffs description of the beer that your gonna like it without even trying it first...16oz is a lot to take if you don't like something. From the hype I've heard I expected this brewery to be HUGE! There was no outdoor seating, which to me is a big letdown on a beautiful summer day. And the ordering station is so compact that your almost right on top of peoples tables if the line is greater than 2 people. Also, hearing the brewers background I expected the tap choices to be pretty numerous and the range of flavors to be more exciting. At the time of my visit there were 6-7 taps total; most being IPAS. The stout I had was good, don't get me wrong, but it was just a stout. Maybe the taps alternate pretty often which would give it some uummff, so possibly try this place in a few months. It might've just been me setting my expectations too high, but as a person who brewery hops for a hobby, I really wanted to be wowed by this one. read more

Calling all Pacific Northwest beer snobs! Cloudburst Brewing is your place! Located at the tail end of Pike Place Market, Cloudburst has innovative crafts that rotate on the daily. It's definitely a must for any beer snob in Seattle. I came here with some friends Friday after work and the place was packed. I mean, packed! The space isn't very large, as it's narrow with limited seating since it's located in an industrial building. And since it was Friday right after work, there was a crowd of people, standing around who weren't so lucky to find a table, including us. Fortunately, we didn't have to stand very long though. We made eye contact with a party who was leaving, so quickly staked their table right as they left. It's worth the craze though. As with most breweries, you order at the counter and when you want service, go to the counter. Nothing formal here. The menu is on the chalkboard wall at the counter and staff is happy to make recommendations. I ordered an IPA and it was a true northwest beer. As previously mentioned, the drafts are frequently rotated out, so the variety is plenty. But the IPA selection here is impressive! Glad to have discovered this craft brewery in Seattle! They have inventive, memorable beers, and the space is chill. Kids aren't allowed, but dogs are. It's very much Seattle. Deal with it, transplants. read more

I really looked forward to visiting Cloudburst as I've enjoyed their beers when I lived on the West Coast...as well as buying 4 packs of their beer to go! Upon arriving, I asked the beertender if I could please taste a "small splash" of an IPA to make sure I'd want to buy a full pour since I've had long covid (taste distortion) due to covid. I was told "No we don't do that here" per the owner. Don't do that here?? Hmmm... I've yet to visit a brewery in Seattle , or anywhere in California or Tennessee that won't allow a paying customer to taste a beer or two to choose between. Coming from the industry I find this very odd and disappointing, considering I flew from Nashville, walked a mile to come visit and support a brewery that I have always loved. It's honestly not a good look to not take care of your customers who come to support and who have also promoted you to many coworkers over the past 4 years. I truly hope the owners/management will reconsider their policies in light of how other local breweries treat their customers. Take care of your supporters and they will take care of you. If your coming to Seattle as a tourist, I'd definitely walk the extra couple blocks from Pike Market and check out Cloudburst. The beer is in my top 5 breweries in Seattle as I can order any beer they brew and like it sight unseen. As for this location close to the tourist mecca of downtown Seattle, you're going to be waiting in a line for a beer, not have a place to sit down and it's just not a great beer drinking experience in peak weekend hours although the beer is fantastic. Therefore, if time is on your side, you need to have some timing in mind when coming to this location. Or, my go to place to drink some Cloudburst and or other PNW beer is going to Beer Junction in West Seattle. read more
