First stop foraying into Seattle's brewery scene. Small setting with an open feel. Lucky has several brews ranging from sours to IPAS to lagers. I'll say, I'm not a fan of sours, but their Raspberry sour was the best and most tolerable I've encountered yet. Another interesting flavor was their Two-Pepper, which was surprisingly not spicy at all but contained the pepper flavor. Interesting beer worth trying at least a sample of. I have no idea why I've never heard of this place, but I like it a lot better than a lot of the more well-known breweries I've been to in the area. We found this place walking our dog before puppy class at Ahimsa just one block away. (They're dog friendly by the way!) We got the blood orange IPA, and it really surprised me. It was the kind of flavor that made you stop and say, "ok yeah, that's totally a ripe blood orange... " that I'm drinking... But also it's totally an IPA? It's a lot to think about, but it's also undeniably delicious. Same with the peanut butter one. At first I thought it was chocolate... After a few drinks, it was undeniably a reese's puffs cereal. Kinda crazy. Truthfully I, I'm still processing it. Will be back for sure though, I'm very impressed. It's pretty obvious that LE's strengths are there intriguing flavors. I recommend trying a few flavors and getting a flight or a few beers if you're here. Also, I did get a 19oz of the house lager and took home a grapefruit IPA. Both were definitely good, the lager is a great beer, and the grapefruit is definitely tasty. I'd definitely get both again, but maybe after a round of the blood orange and the peanut butter. read more

Cute beer garden/brewery in Ballard. It's quieter than some of the others nearby if you want a more intimate or quiet setting. The staff were super friendly and were diligent about sanitizing the tables afterwards. Beer was good too! This is probably my favorite brewery in Ballard area and there are quite a few of them. One day I am going to remember to bring my Ballard brewery passport to all the breweries and earn my prize, until then this is my favorite stop off as I work towards the challenge. I love the variety of beers sold here. They always seem to have something fun on tap, I get bored by normal beer and like to find things that are a bit different. On my most recent visit I enjoyed the blood orange mosaic IPA. Their raspberry sour is pretty tasty too. They often have food trucks and fun events going on. I know they have a cocktail beer day coming up that sounded intriguing and they recently had a teahouse beer day. I love sour beers and there are always a few on tap. It can be a bit crowded inside if an event is going on, but on a nice day you can sit on the front patio. I really like the pallet planters out front and told my partner to make me some for home. One day I hope to make it here for Yoga (Run). read more

Lucky Envelope Brewing has been a go-to beer spot for my husband and I for a few years now, and it's only gotten better. The beers are top notch (the creativity of the brewing team has been above and beyond especially lately, with a variety of interesting and delicious beers, like juicy IPAs, milkshake IPAs, refreshing sours, and remarkably sessionable lagers and ales). Not only that, but it's a welcoming spot - the service is always amazing and the staff is friendly - with dog treats for your furry friends and coloring books and games for the kids. One thing that has impressed me the most during COVID is the staff's commitment to the health and safety of its workers and customers. The place is always clean, wiped down, and compliant with local health recommendations with regard to safety. Recently Lucky Envelope adopted a policy of requiring proof of vaccination for inside seating (note: this does NOT apply to its ample outside seating space). This policy doesn't sit well with some, but with variants cropping up, I appreciate that Lucky Envelope is taking care of its staff and customers. It's wonderful to see a business care about more parts of me than just my wallet! It might not be the most popular decision, but it's a smart one. Thank you Lucky Envelope! read more

I was pleasantly surprised with the variety of beers and the inexpensive price. 4 oz pours are only 2$ each. Which makes it only 6$ for the equivalent of a regular beer. We tried nearly all of their beers. The Vienna Amber Lager was a crowd pleaser. Their stouts were also pretty tasty. The Parti Kyle Nitro was a standard stout but good. The peanut butter stout was sweet and delicious. The Gingerbread stout wasn't shy about the Christmas flavors but it was cozy and delicious. The only beer we didn't love was their raspberry sour. It was more sweet than sour. Reminded me of a wine cooler. They have outdoor tents set up but no heaters. It was getting chilly and it would've been nice to have some heat. Many breweries near this one have food trucks outside. They didn't have a truck but there was one only two blocks away if you really needed food. They only had chips for sale. read more

Lucky Envelope is dog-friendly and has tons of outdoor seating to soak in the summer sun. As for the beer, I thought it was just okay. I've had a beer from this brewery at a restaurant before that I liked, so they do have beer that's above average, but nothing spectacular. read more

Love! This lil hidden spot in Ballard is the spot for IPAs and sour beer. We did two flights with 12 tasters (1-9) and 3 repeats. My fav was the raspberry sour and my boyfriend's was the Helles Lager. In his words, "this is a solid lager I'd come back for." Just for personal preference, I'd probably pass on the lager and Mosaic IPA. I liked the red ale, but would probably say no thank you to everything else besides that and the raspberry sour, just because of personal preference. Awesome brewery that my boyfriend and I just discovered in Ballard!!! Lucky Envelope is in a rather random part of residential Ballard, but has some awesome brews!! I got the Beardless Brewers Red Ale, which was darker than most red ales I've had, but really delicious! My boyfriend got the Grapefruit ENIAC IPA and loved it as well. They have a nice patio area out front, and a pretty big space inside, with a good selection of board games. It's a good option to have in the vicinity with Reuben's and Stoup not to far away. read more

Review in the Time of Covid: I really love the beers here, and they've made an effort to design their pickup and beer garden so people can get in and out without spending much time in each other's space. For take out, your best bet is to bring your own growler and have it filled! Plan ahead! I was walking by and decided to pick up a few beers, because I like Lucky Envelope, and really love their German styles, and innovative special flavors. I was disappointed that their variety pack contained a peanut flavored beer, as that it's unfortunately a real (but for me, relatively minor) allergy, and I couldn't swap it for something else. I miss the brewery taster experience, so these days I'm wanting more variety in smaller quantities, so a variety 4 pack is almost ideal. I ended up going with one that was a collaboration 4 pack that had two of each flavor, and no peanuts. :) read more

This is such a great brewery to get together with a large group of friends! We came tonight to do a potluck dinner with 18 friends and 4 dogs. There is a great covered area outside with long tables and benches but since its officially Fall we sat inside and pushed the tables together. We played corn hole outside and a game of Jenga. We received fantastic service at the bar when buying beer and cider. Bathrooms are unisex and has a baby changing table in them. We found free street parking easily. I definitely recommend coming to this brewery for a great time with friends. read more

My wife and I came on a Friday night just looking for a drink. I love the indoor area because they had a tv on the inside. The outside seating was pretty standard and their food truck was super cool! They used a old school bus which was very unique! I decided to try their Peanut Butter Creme stout and it was sooooo good! The after taste is the best part. I met the guys that own Lucky Envelope back in March at the Bacon, Eggs & Kegs Brewfest. These guys are great and really put out some fantastic beer!!! We told them that we would definitely come and see their brewery someday. Since that Brewfest, I have seen them a handful of times at other events. FINALLY, in October I made a Brew-hopping date with some friends, and off to Lucky Envelope we went!! First stop, and the best stop! LUCKY ENVELOPE! Started off with a sampler tray, because as a beer lover you have got to try ALL the beers they offer before selecting which pint you want to get! They had about 8-10 beers on tap, and then a few "Guest Taps". One of my faves, remains the first beer of theirs I have had; which is the Mosaic IPA! I really liked the Ekuanot IPA as well. Lucky Envelope definitely does not disappoint with any of their beers! I stand behind Lucky Envelope, they put out great beer!! One of my faves in the Ballard area! read more

On our brewery hopping tour we took one day, we had no intention of coming here...but when we saw a sign pointing to more beer this way....we stopped in! I'm not sure if it was because it didn't pop up on yelp, or what, but that's ok! We found our way by accident, in the rain, and enjoyed a flight of everything on tap! My husband and I really liked the atmosphere here, the wide selection of beer and guest cider, and the girl working was very nice! We came here for a Saturday flight for Mike after brunch. Overall, the beer was pretty tasty (I tried their sage sour, it was very good and a hazy IPA of Mike's, also good). The service was great. One of several favorites during my whirlwind day tour around Ballard-area breweries a couple weeks ago. I had particularly wanted to try their shishito pepper ale, but I sadly missed it by a couple weeks even though it was still listed on their website at the time (apparently it's their "summer" seasonal). Their fall seasonal was delicious, too, though (a spiced imperial stout in the "pumpkin spice" rather than the "spicy food" sense). Also tried a great raspberry sour, a surprisingly good grapefruit IPA (I hate IPAs, and don't care much for grapefruit either, but apparently I like them when put together), and a truly fantastic peanut butter cream stout that literally tasted like drinking peanuts - would've been particularly good with Thai or Chinese food, so that makes sense given the theme. I forget how much the taster flight was, but it was pretty reasonably priced or I would've remembered. It was super busy, but they knew what they were doing, as the line moved super fast. My only complaint is just *how* dog-friendly they are. I like dogs, but there were dogs *everywhere*, like, all over the floor. It was kind of funny. read more

Entitled, rude, and horrible beer. The fact that my fiancee was standing in front of the cash register wanting to make an order and the beer attendant on duty was just looking at him talking to another person and not even acknowledging him there was not helpful what-so-ever. My fiancee had a few questions that the guy on duty didn't even care to answer. Their beer is not anything to write home about either. Another thing is that this place closes super early. There were a few people who got there at 8:30 PM and were bothered that they had to down their drinks because the guy who worked there was passive aggressively putting chairs up like it was no one's business. I wouldn't even bother trying to come back here because not only are the people who work their rude as hell, the parking situation is awful. Good luck trying to find parking. There are other breweries in the area that offer better beer with cheaper prices, too. read more

Lots of seats, TWO lovely bathrooms, each M/F ADA compliant and with changing tables. Doggie and kiddie friendly but plenty of space so you don't feel right on top of them. 5 stars for the cuke nukem sour beer! It has the perfect hint of cucumber to give you that refreshing finish on a hot day. The brewery itself had lots of board games and corn hole to keep you and your friends entertained. It also seems family friendly if that's what you're looking for. There were a few cute little kiddos running around on the Sunday afternoon that I went there. They don't really carry any food, but you're in Ballard. I've only been once during the middle of the week but the beer was awesome! Usually when I order a fruit-inspired beer, I feel like there are some vague hints of the intended fruit but the blood orange IPA here was awesome and really had some strong blood orange flavor. This is one of my favorite breweries in the Ballard brewery blocks and super underrated in my opinion. They usually have just 8 or so beers on tap, but they are all very well done. A couple of my personal favorite are the raspberry sour, grapefruit mosaic IPA and the peanut butter cream stout (and I normally don't like stouts). The staff is very friendly too. My husband and I got a Groupon to Lucky Envelope for a Brewery Tasting Package and we were not disappointed! The Groupon included 6 tasters, as well as an empty growler for us to take home. 6 tasters each for a $20 Groupon (for 2), was pretty generous IMO. We tried the raspberry sour, peanut butter porter, mocha stout, their award winning Mosaic IPA, barelywine, cider, Citron IPA, and (our favorite) grapefruit IPA. The tasting room is tastefully adorned with Chinese decorations and plenty of seating. They are dog friendly and have many board games you can play while you are enjoying your beverages. They are open Wednesday- Sunday and occasionally have food trucks there on the weekends. read more
