We were promptly greeted and asked for draft IPA - Henry read off the 3 with zero hesitation then suggested the most popular with confidence - we went with it 10/10. I wasn't sure how my 9 month old would do so we ordered quickly and food came out hot and as we ordered shortly after ordering. Henry checked in often and was so sweet to our baby. Pretty damn good. In the last few months I've had barbecue in Memphis, Kansas City, Texas and now...Seattle: certainly an outlier on the barbecue spectrum. At least for this style- Texas style...sort of a combo with both dry rub (Memphis style) and a kick ass sauce ala KC. It was excellent. We both wanted the ribs and brisket so we each got the 'double trouble' and got different sides...greens, cornbread, corn pudding and mashed potatoes. Oh yeah, we also got the fried pickle appetizer. The meat was perfectly done...tender and smoky. Each side was big, and flavorful. I especially liked the greens, my son said it was the best he'd had. Then they brought out the banana pudding. When the server put it on the table my son made a reference to a vampire movie we'd recently watched where the vampires could see the arteries in the necks of their victims and he made a motion to show that the banana pudding was almost pulsating on the table before us. We descended on that poor pudding like crazed nosferatu just awakening from a centuries long nap. Blood lust. It was so good. Gone in about 1 minute. Our evil souls were barely sated. Our thirst for banana pudding only temporarily slaked. The server joked that he's always wanted to bring in a boba straw for the stuff. It's good. Anyway- put this place on your list. Every single worker in this restaurant was so friendly so sweet & so respectful! The energy was just great! For the brisket, they give you one fattier slice and another leaner slice. It was tender, though I wish it was a bit juicier. The ribs had great flavor, and the BBQ sauce was solid. Came in a Friday for lunch. They have their own parking lot so that made it easy to get to. You walk in and are greeted with the delicious of smoky BBQ that you only smell at legit BBQ restaurants where you know you'll leave stuffed and happy. Friday's special was beef rib tacos. The special comes with one side. I opted for Mac and cheese. My plate also came with chips and salsa, a nice surprise. The taco had a generous portion of beef rib meat. I came here with 3 friends the day after the Seahawks beat the 49ers in the divisional playoff. We had seen on their IG that the day after a Seahawks win, their "Jackson Smith N-brisket" burrito would be 50% off so we came by. We ordered the nachos, loaded fries, cornbread, and burrito. The nachos were crunchy, had good flavor, and paired well with both the salsa and queso provided. The fries were crispy, and the toppings complemented the base well. We devoured both of them quickly. The burrito was meaty as expected, but very flavorful. The brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage were both prevalent and the queso helped tie it all together. Lastly, I loved the cornbread. That comes with Brisket, ribs, sausage and your choice of 2 sides. Brisket (4): Pretty tender. The smoke flavor was just okay. You can taste it and it was there, but it wasn't that strong. I like it strong. It was good though. Sausage (5): I was impressed with this. Smoke flavor came through well and the casing had a good pop to it. Ribs (3): Good flavors, but too much bite. I like more of a tender rib. Good smoke flavors though. They served all kinds of drinks from IPA's to whisky. Pick your poison to go with your meat. They give you a plate of pickles, onions, and jalapenos to pair with your meat along with some texas toast. Their sides were decent. I was surprised I liked their collard greens. I generally don't like that stuff. Overall, decent BBQ joint. They even have a large mirror over the slicing table so you can watch them slice up your brisket. Jack's is one of our favorites. We go a little crazy and order way too much food, but our son is thankful when we bring the leftovers home after our date night. The service can be a bit hit or miss, but when it's good, it's fantastic. We recently mentioned that we always wanted to try the Pecan pie but are always too full to order a slice. Our waitress gave us a piece to go on the house! She also mentioned the coupon on the to-go bag that customers always forget about which gives you a free order of hush puppies. Wish we got her name for this review. She's always so nice. Anyway, the hush puppies are pretty tasty and big! $9.00 for 9, but even better when they're free! The tarter sauce is especially good and goes well with them. The BBQ class is also pretty amazing if you ever have a chance to so it. It comes with free drinks and a large sampling of various meats. Only one thing left to try on the menu and that the beef rib. It's 1.5 to 2lb and I don't think it comes with a side for $69.00. Stopped by on a Wednesday around 1pm. Parking lot, good atmosphere, friendly staff. We started with hushpuppies, then moved onto brisket, pulled pork, and pork ribs. Hushpuppies were fine, seemed pre-made and flash fried to reheat. We really enjoyed the 1/2 lb pork ribs, tender meat, which unfortunately solidified once it cooled (inevitable). Brisket wasn't toooo juicy or fatty, but possibly just the cut we got. Pulled pork was fine, pretty standard. Had leftovers between the two of us, but $70ish pre-tip seemed a bit steep for what we ordered. If we were to revisit, would not order the pulled pork, get pork ribs, and hope for fatty pieces of brisket. read more

Let's face it; Seattle is not a BBQ town. Most BBQ restaurants are simply caricatures of the places we BBQ fans love in places like Memphis, OKC, Biloxi, and El Paso. Happily, the folks at Jack's BBQ have done their homework, and this establishment is a happy outlier. THE ROSES: Ample parking. Dining space is roomy and comfortable with a genuine (not Disneyfied) West Texas ambience. Clean restrooms and competent staff. The BBQ is the Real Deal. Perfectly smoked meats prepared with care. This stuff doesn't need sauce, even though bottles of regular and spicy house-made BBQ is available for those who want it. Diners have their choice of a lot of creative sides. THE THORNS: A little spendy. The bottom line is that BBQ may have once upon a time been the cuisine of the Poors, but not any more. Good BBQ is labor-intensive, and doesn't come cheap. THE VERDICT: Seattle still isn't a BBQ town, but Jack's BBQ is about as close as you're probably going to get to real down-south BBQ in this town. Recommend! read more

They were smoked and sweet with dry rub but needed something else. Kind of too plain for me. The mac and cheese was not great. They put jalapeños in it but it was still flavorless. They also put some jalapeño in the hush puppies which were very dry. The coleslaw was enjoyable. The cornbread was dense and plain. There's not many bbq joints in Seattle proper. We came here for an early dinner around 5pm on a weekday and there were only a few people in there. Parking was easy in their private lot. We had a party of 7 and were sat at a long table along the back left part of the restaurant. Our server had lots of character and a southern accent. So strong, it almost sounded fake. We ordered the full gamut and I really enjoyed the ribs! They fell off the bone and was not to heavily sauced, which can be the case at other BBQ joints. The brisket was good as well, but could have been more moist. This place did feel like the south in the Sodo area! The bathrooms were clean as well. read more

Absolutely stellar experience. My wife and I decided to eat here for my birthday since it is a tradition of mine to eat BBQ on my (March 15th) birthday. Not only was this the best birthday BBQ experience I've had in years, Jacks went out of their way to make sure my special day was exactly that! The server Michael was incredibly kind and welcomed us very warmly. When he found out it was our first time there, he went above and beyond to give us the rundown of what Jacks is and does well (spoiler, everything!) - And then when he found out it was my birthday he really made me and my wife feel special, including offering us a little tour of the smokers in the back after our meal was over, which was amazing!! And all of this wouldn't even matter as much if the food didn't hit - but HOLY SMOKES - can easily say this was THE BEST BBQ I have ever had in Seattle, by miles!! Everything we got was heavenly! The loaded fries with beef bacon and queso was a highlight but "the trinity" was phenomenal as well! On top of all of that, the place has such an awesome vibe and aura- Texas BBQ through and through! I was skeptical about Greens and the Brisket but after a few bites I knew that I made the right choice. The drinks were also the way to go. I typically always go for the old fashioned but I was a sucker for their Manhattan. *edit: my only recommendation at this time is that you guys start putting a big cube or sphere of ice in the old fashioned instead of regular ice chips. I have been to Jack's several times over the years and have consistently enjoyed the bbq, ambiance and service. My last 2 experiences, one is South Lake Union in late July 2026 and in mid August 2026 have soured me. SLU - I ordered the 1/2 chicken plate and all the fixings. The sides - the slaw and mac and cheese were both fine, not outstanding not bad. The chicken however was dry to the point of tough, both the light meat and the dark meat. It was disappointing. I have the SODO spot a shot and ordered the Duo Plate - The sides - greens and cornbread both were good. The greens were tender but not mushy and well seasoned. The cornbread was moist and tasty. Shared The Duo - Brisket, one of the 4 slices was juicy and succulent but relied on the bbq sauce for flavor, not much seasoning or smoke flavor. The other 3 pieces were dry as cardboard and were not worth eating. The 2 ribs were both mediocre, also not much flavor and the meat was tightly holding onto the bone and lacked moisture, other than from the fat cap on the larger of the two. Also ordered hushpuppies - they were so dense that they too remained uneaten by both of us. We discussed the very real scenario of playing putt putt with them later. I'm disappointed that my last two visits to a one time favorite have been so poor. Perhaps the growth into chain has impacted the quality control or I just got unlucky. read more

Went for a family lunch just before the holidays. We had a big party & had made reservations, I recommend reservations especially for a larger party, it can get busy here for both lunch & dinner. I have been here several times & have even had their food to go...which I know eating at the restaurant is ALWAYS better. They always have a lunch special for each day of the week, it was a smoked prime rib dip on the menu the day we were in. Jacks is also very generous with their portions and lunch specials & combos come with your choice if 2 side dishes. My husband & I were the only ones besides one of the Aunts & Uncles, who had been to Jack's before...we were really hyping up the brisket. I've had their brisket several times & even to go...it has always been very moist & smoked well so the fat cap is melting. I have to say part of the reason why I only gave them 3 stars, the brisket was very dry & fatty. I ate it BUT I had to use a lot BBQ sauce...good thing I really like the spicy BBQ sauce. My rib tips were also very dry on this day. The service & hospitality are always so good. I would definitely give them a 5 star rating for that. The floor was super sticky under my Uncle's feet...which he was seated in the middle if our long table for 14 top, our server came & wiped up the floor to make it less sticky! I thought that was excellent customer service because it was not easy to get to. And when I say sticky...I mean almost where you couldn't pick your foot up, maybe honey or sweet tea?! I don't know what it was but it was also in a couple of other spots around our table. This is a fun, loud, festive place great for big parties or small, fun Western theme. Had my daughter's birthday party here on Sunday afternoon. It's better to make a reservation in advance. There were eight adults, two teenagers and two babies in attendance. We each chose what we liked and ordered. My husband and I chose the brisket plates and two side dishes: mac n cheese with cornbread and ranch beans with green beans for seasonal. We also ordered our own drinks. The man who helped us was friendly and provided good service. The brisket we had was delicious with the jalapeno BBQ sauce. I couldn't finish one plate so I took the rest home. This time it was a birthday party and everyone was enjoying the meal and having fun conversations. Been coming here for over 18 months. Place lost a step BIG TIME.. Used to be really good. Last 5 outta 6 times its been kinda gross. Briskets dry, no marble, no flavor, greens smell old and covered up w/pepper which gives a B.O. smell. Even the mac & cheese which is hard to fk up was kinda muuahh..
