Tasty, crispy fish n chips
Jeff C.

Recently tried some takeout from Marination CC. We've always enjoyed their food so tried a couple of different dishes. This time it was Chicken Teri and Fish N Chips. Good stuff. We were really hungry. So much so that I totally forgot to take photos before digging in. :D They smelled really good and tasted good. Beer batter / panko crust - nice! Fries tasted like they are freshly cut and not out of a bag. Teriyaki chicken - pretty good. A little light on the portion but if you get the Mac, no rice option you'll get tons of Mac salad!

Solid food option if you're craving Hawaiian food. The inside has a cool vibe and I love when a restaurant or cafe has an upstairs seating area. You can either sit at the bar or there are some larger tables for big groups at the front of the restaurant and some smaller tables upstairs. None of the food was the best version of the item that I've ever had but everything was good. Looks like they've got a great patio section for the three months of the year that aren't grey and rainy!

Bleh... first time and pretty sure it's my last. Service was good, they have a parking lot and the place is clean, which is good. The food....my first impression when I went to pick up my order: WTH is this???? Food for 5 people serve in paper bowls and to go containers AND it all fit on a small tray???!!!! I was very disappointed. Taste: Everyone thought it was fine. Our order: 2 Moco Locos, 2 kid's quesadillas, and 1 chicken plate lunch.

Nice and quiet air-conditioned place to stop by when it's hot outside if you're in the area. All of the food was good with friendly staff, and I appreciated how clean it was in there.

The taste was good but the food wasn't as warm as I expected. The meat was luke warm but the flavor is there.

First time coming here after the renovation/rebrand from Super Six! My friend and I came for brunch around 10am on a Sunday and there was plenty of seating available. It's open seating now, like the other Marination location downtown! You order food at the counter and give your number -- they text you when the food is ready and you pick it up at a window at the far end of the restaurant. It only took about 5 mins for me to get the text for my chicken and waffles. I've had it before at Super Six, and it really hit the spot. I love the creativity of the HK bubble waffle! But the chicken was somewhat hard to eat-- the crispy texture was a bit tougher to chew than expected and it was a bit dry inside. To order drinks, you have to go separately to the bar. I loved the lychee margarita. The frosé was good as well but a little sweet. The staff is all super duper nice :) we hung out for almost 2 hours eating and drinking. They didn't hurry us at all, and came to clear our plates/drinks multiple times. It started getting more crowded around 11:30 -- I think partially due to the Seahawks game. There are big TVs at the bar for you to watch the game! I'll definitely be back. So glad it's reopened!

Coconut Malasadas and pork katsu sliders from happy hour

Nice spot for happy hour but limited selections. The jalapeno fizz drink was good but not strong. Got the coconut malasada but wish it was the mango instead. Sliders tasted good but I probably wouldn't order it again had it not been for happy hour. I do enjoy the location, as there's plenty of parking, outdoor seating, additional seats upstairs and seats with street views. I think this would be a fun spot for groups!

Marination Station has opened it's latest in Columbia City. Go up to the counter, order what you like, and give them your phone number. Find a seat at the bar, the large tables downstairs, or one of the 4 person tables upstairs. When your order is ready, you'll get a text to pick it up at the kitchen windows near the bottom of the stairs. I've always liked Marination Station sliders, but today I decided to try the fish and chips. The fish was panko-crusted and tasty. The chips were thick and cooked just right, not too crisp or squishy. It came with two mini sets of miso-ginger tartar sauce, which was fantastic! Once I ran out, the rest of the meal was slightly disappointing. A bit of cole slaw would have added some nice variation in taste, temperature, and texture. The self-serve makes service much faster and more casual than the old Super Six. I'm still not sure if it's an up or downgrade, but I left happy.

The food (fish and chips and a pork katsu sandwich) was okay, nothing mind-blowing. Make sure you get a selfie with Jason Momoa!

Pleasantly surprised to see Marination in Columbia City! You order at the bar/counter, and you pick it up once the buzzer buzz. The food was delicious and perfect for the warm weather. I loved the Cole slaw and mac salad. I thought the Korean bulgogi and spice goes really well with the more subtle and quiet flavors of the slaw and Mac salad. It was good combination.

Pretty quick service with indoor and outdoor seating. Grab your own water & utensils at the counters. Food was delicious and crispy!

fish sando
Michael C.

I tried Super Six before and didn't love it, but wanted to give it another shot since its reopening as Marination. Sadly, it was a total miss for me. I went with the fish sando, which seemed great on paper but lazily put together. The miso tartar sauce was ice cold, the cheese was completely unmelted and the bun seemed like it was pulled straight out of a bag. The fish was fried well, but felt out of place with everything else. We also had the tocino bowl, which was flat out disastrous. As another reviewer pointed out, the fried rice sat in a pool of oil. How did they manage to do that? I didn't pick up of any of the advertised garlic flavors either. I have to add that the restaurant design feels awkward. We initially sat at the high tops by the window, but found they were way too close to the communal benches. Like, butts-next-to-your-head close. I recommend the bar instead.

An absolute treat in all sense of the word!…read more We made reservations for an early dinner on Saturday, and glad we did because there was a never ending stream of people. By 6pm every seat was taken, including the bar. Highly recommend reservations. We had the cauliflower, squash blossom, squid ink fried rice, and the NY steak. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. The cauliflower was cooked perfectly and had a really lovely smokey-ness to it. The sesame and almond puree and mint oil was divine. Honestly I could have made a whole meal of the cauliflower. The shrimp in the squash blossom was a delightful burst of flavor and texture. The sauces, while quite strong on their own, did not overpower the squash blossom, and each bite could have different flavors based on the sauce combinations. The squid ink fried rice had good textured rice AND the nori seasoning was perfect. I didn't get a lot of kimchi flavor, but it was truly a perfect fried rice- a little salty, you could tell it was fried but not greasy or oily, and a good complement to the steak. The steak was cooked perfectly. Each bite was so tender, and every part was the same level of done. A perfect medium rare. I don't know what they did to the brussel sprouts, but it was one of the best brussel sprout dishes I've ever had. There was a sauce with the steak (maybe dwenjang based?) that added such a nice deep salty and savory touch to the steak. We left feeling quite full, and about $200 poorer. Overall highly recommend. The staff was friendly and informative, interior was cozy and inviting, and the food was 10 out of 10.

My husband and I had a chance to do a lunch date there today and it's just as good as I remember. We had the oxtail soup with yam noodles and beef bibimbap. Everything came super fast, good sized portions and so damn tasty. The seolleongtang was hearty, perfectly seasoned and so simple it's divine. Paju's bibimbap is more lettuce forward than rice and I actually prefer it that way. I'm pretty sure the co-owner, Bill, served us today and he couldn't be more courteous or kind. I asked him what it was like serving Padma Lakshmi recently and he just smiled. Amazing lunch service and great food, we love Paju.

The service was fantastic; warm, attentive, and polished without feeling overdone. And somehow, the food was even better. We started with the beef sliders: bulgogi ribeye, cucumber kimchi, chili aioli, scallion, all tucked into a brioche bun. Rich, savory, a little spicy, a little tangy; and that soft brioche pulled everything together beautifully. The beef brisket spicy rice cake was another standout. Chewy rice cakes, tender brisket, fish cake, a perfectly jammy six-minute egg, crispy onion, and that spicy sauce bringing the whole dish to life. So much texture, so much flavor, and the kind of dish you keep thinking about after the meal is over. Then came the grilled Black Angus hanger steak sot bap, and wow. The steak was beautifully cooked and deeply savory, with scallions, cured yolk, shallots, sesame, and butter adding richness without overpowering the beef. Comforting, layered, and incredibly satisfying. Chan completely lived up to the hype for me. Great service, bold flavors, thoughtful execution; absolutely a place I should have tried much sooner.

Ray was our server and he did a great job with his recommendations, even steering me away from something I wanted to try, warning me the dish tends to get the most complaints from guests. Additionally, we had quite a bit of food without that. We had melon salad, roasted califlower, and grilled angus sot bap. All had a good flavor palate with ingredients that worked nicely together. The space was nothing remarkable, the entrance didn't really mention Chan, but Spruce instead. Confusing, is it a rebrand or different name depending on the day or?? Look at the menu before you go and see if you consider it $$ or not, I don't have a good feel for that sort of thing as my restaurant outings are infrequent. This place is part of the "add 3% if using a CC" which kind of grinds my gears. I understand margins in restaurants can be tight etc, but to see that on your tablet in smaller print is a bit lame IMO.

It is set up like a cute korean style bar with small round tables which make sharing easier. They have a pretty good selection on their menu and we ordered a couple of items to share. The Rose Ttoekbokki with cheese was very yummy, but it kinda tasted like pasta with rice cakes instead of spaghetti. I think that is the point of this dish, so if you want a more traditional spicy flavor then get the other ttoekbokki option (spicy rice cakes). We still loved this one and the rice cakes were so chewy and delicious. The cheese corn was very yummy and exactly what you would expect. It pairs perfectly with the other dishes. My friends also shared the Seafood ramen and Beef bulgogi. They liked both dishes. One of our favorite things were the side dishes actually! The tofu was so yummy, and the bean sprouts were so crunchy and well seasoned. We even asked for extra! The only aspect that makes it difficult to come more often is the price point. Since the dishes are so big and shareable, it is easy to split amongst a group, but it is a little less affordable to come here for dinner and drinks.

There was no garlic at all, but what I did get was a pretty large appetizer that did its job and more. The main dish, the hotstone beef bibimbap, was a lot worse. The rice at the bottom was dry like it should be in a clay pot, but lacking really any of that slightly-burnt, hard qualities that makes a clay pot rice what it is. It just tasted dry. But the ground beef was probably the worst part. It was dry, lacking in really any seasoning, and the portion was tiny. I'd finished the beef with still half the bowl remaining.
