This is our go-to for fried chicken, and now our go-to for parties! The fried chicken at Kkokio has a hearty crunch and delicious sauces. We recently placed an order from their party platters, and it was absolutely amazing. The chicken stayed crunchy the entire time, and everyone asked where it came from. It was an absolute hit. While we don't often have leftovers, I think they're good straight out of the fridge, and reheats well in the oven. The staff have been nothing short of incredible. Excellent experience. I can't believe I waited over 2 years to try this place. Surprisingly extensive menu. Super friendly service. Easy parking on a Saturday, midday. Some of the best wings in Seattle. I had a snack size (5pc) of the original (naked) wings. Juicy and perfectly fried. I think the best way to judge any wing is how good they are without any sauce. I'll try some more flavors later. Good banh mi. The bread was excellent. However, the "grilled pork" option was puzzling. Tasted good, but was more like a char siu than a traditional lemongrass grilled pork. There wasn't any char-grilled flavor. It was still good though. Nice crisp crust of the bread without being too sturdy, if you know what I mean. Lots of other stuff on the menu I want to try. I didn't go for any of their house-made drinks. But I'll at least try a lemonade next time. Very pleasant and ample seating. A few outdoor picnic style tables and some nice tables inside with big windows. It's a nice space. My only gripe is the usual one. Seattle prices. The wings plus banh mi and a soda came to $30.50 with tax and tip. (I did have leftovers for later, so I did get a meal and a half out of it). The tipping options START at 20% on their point-of-sale (POS) tablet. There's probably a custom option, but I didn't bother since I normally tip 20% anyway. But it's a little pushy to start your tipping options at what is usually the upper limit for most people. This place is solid. I'm sure it's a godsend for tenants in the nearby apartments. And being centrally located, it's really not hard to get to. Next time your going to or from the eastside via I-90 bridge...go a few extra blocks north and get your grub on here. read more

We needed to grab something to eat first thing after we landed in Seattle. The price was reasonable and the boneless chicken were in good portion. We tried the Kalbi and the Yum Yum medium spicy sauces. The batter had good seasoning and the chicken didn't need much sauces for me. I like the Kalbi and my husband likes the yum yum. Flavor wise, it leaned more toward the sweeter side and was not very spicy. We ordered the full-size fried chicken, which allows you to choose two flavors. You can add a third flavor for $1, while the half order comes with only one flavor. We chose Golden Honey, a savory sweet sauce, and the Kalbi sauce, which has a Korean BBQ profile with a sweet soy flavor. For my taste, both sauces were slightly on the salty side. The server was very friendly and checked in on us regularly. They also let us know that we could ask for more pickled radish at any time, which was a nice touch. This newly open Asian fusion (Korean and Vietnamese) restaurant is a MUST TRY food place to eat at. I had the crispy pork sandwich and it was DELICIOUS. Not only that, it was a big portion for only $6.50. The pork was so crispy and tasty to eat. Next time I go here, I'm definitely getting that same sandwich. We also tried the Bossam sandwich, which is grilled pork with house special sauce, kimchi, and etc and it was good too. The service here was great. The managers and owners here are very friendly with their customers and they are more than happy to help out with people's questions. The managers/owners spirit is great and they show passion for their restaurant. The food didn't take that long to make. HEADS UP: They charge an extra 50 cents if you ask for "light ice." I was pretty disappointed that they have that feature. I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. It was nicely decorated with multiple features that I enjoyed. One, each table has a cool, little lamp. Some tables have these cute birds included. And overall, the restaurant is well organized and looks brand new, as it should. There's a greenery wall that they have near the bathroom that can almost act as a good background for your photo. Overall, I highly recommend trying this new Asian fusion restaurant. That being said, everything still tasted pretty fresh and hot! The snow on the wings is not my favorite -- it's weirdly sweet but this is just personal preference. Preface: I have been looking forward to the opening of kkokio for a while. As a regular visitor of Seattle Bouldering Project nearby, I always thought that treating myself to some Korean fried chicken afterward would be the best thing ever. The review: I came here on a Friday night around a week after their opening. The place was fairly packed, but not too busy that I couldn't find seating. I ordered the honey wings and a side of tteokkbokki. The honey wings were pretty solid overall, being juicy and having a solid crispy exterior. The flavors were as you would expect, sweet and salty, but nothing really extraordinary. Solid overall. The tteokkbokki, however, was a HUGE disappointment. Literally. The tteokbokki was served as a bowl of watery flavorless broth containing a dozen or so fish cakes and a single, enormous, undercooked stick of rice cake. I kid you not, the thing was probably an inch wide. As a result, the interior was vastly undercooked. And because the broth already had so little flavor, the ttokbokki ended up tasting just like a slightly spicy, undercooked rice cake. Overall, I don't think I'm coming back here. Even though the chicken was solid, my experience with the ttokbokki makes me really question the edibility of the other items on the menu. read more
