I think for kbbq and hot pot, I like the set up here a lot. You can customize and get your own food which is way easier than to pick off the menu and wait for a server to bring you your food. Since hot pot and kbbq is meant to have options and pick your own food, I like the set up way better. It's much easier to operate and customize. You can pick and choose how much of an item you can get. You get to make your own sauces, and there's also ice cream machine. I would definitely go here again. Service: We arrived around 1:00 PM and there was only one server on duty. After walking in, we had to wait a short while before being greeted, though the overall service itself was still quite good. Flavor: First off, many of their previous staple dishes are gone. There were only four types of beef available, and they all looked pretty much identical... Many offal items, like tripe, have completely disappeared. The reason traditional Sichuan hot pot relies on heavy oil and high spice is, to an extent, to mask the strong gamey notes of offal. But with the limited selection available now, the offal's raw taste remains even after boiling. On top of that, the beef completely fell apart in the pot. Me and my boyfriend came here for happy hour hotpot and it was a pretty good deal! Service was amazing, the place was clean. The only downside was that there's only little legroom under the tables. I love the buffet style where you can pick your meats and veggies instead of waiting on a server to deliver them. My main issue was that the meat quality was not superb. In one of my photos you can see the meats is turning grey and so is the lotus root which threw me off because I've never had issues with lotus root. You also get your own hot pot to cook your food. I love the selections of broth. Service here is also impeccable. The staff here is so accommodating and friendly. We'll definitely be back. I saw this place just opened and been wanting to try it every time I went to Ranch 99! We got seated right away, the service was very fast and efficient! We got the AYCE hot pot and BBQ. I forgot to take a picture of the topping bar but they have a decent selection, one thing tho the meat for BBQ might be a bit too fatty! Overall experience was underwhelming. The broth we chose were delicious, pork bone with tripe and the spicy broth, super spicy. Not many options for the hot food bar or veggies bar as other ayce restaurants. And the kimchi is very salty, sadly. Sauce bar had many options to choose from. Sadly the ice cream machine broken on a Sunday lunch (right as they open). Interior clean but be careful when walking around as you can bump into the side tables that are on wheels and gets busy so easy to do if not paying attention. Service was good. Kudos to the busboy, he did great constantly clearing everyone's tables. Fountain drink is self pour and given in a plastic to go cup. There was a cracked shell in my oysters for the grill. It was under all the garlic so just be aware. The oysters for hot pot and grill did come frozen. They tasted fresh and went well with the sauce I was able to create with all the options. First thing I noticed was how many options there were. Seriously a ton. There were so many meats to choose from that honestly I don't think you even need to pay extra for the premium items. Between all the regular meats, veggies, noodles for soup, and other items, there was already a lot to choose from. They also had a lot of hot food options like egg rolls, fried shrimp, and other yummy items you could grab while your hot pot was cooking. On top of that there was even a small dessert area with a soft serve ice cream machine and some toppings, which was right up my alley. Ordering was easy. Once we got started we basically just kept cooking and grabbing what we wanted until we were stuffed! The only thing to be aware of is the parking. Since it's in the Great Wall area with a grocery store, restaurants, and other shops, the parking lot is packed and spaces are tight. I had expectations coming from their Bellevue location but was disappointed with it. New hot pot and bbq restaurant in Great Wall Shopping Mall - I believe it's still their soft opening. We came right around dinner time on a Saturday and put ourselves on the waitlist. I suggest getting on the waitlist as early as you plan to. We were 7th on the list and it took a good 40 mins to be called and seated. Interior is very clean and modern, our service Alex? Did a great job explaining everything to us and was very attentive given how busy it was. You basically order your soup and meat on the tablet which will send to the kitchen and they'll have someone bring it out. They also have a sauce bar which takes up a lot of their space and a buffet bar for which you want to add to your hot pot. The veggies were stacked up pretty high. I'm pretty petite and had a hard time reaching over the other buffet items to get to the veggies this could be an issue to someone under 5' - there weren't a ton of different types of veggies just the standards and they were also not labeled... for now? The reason why I gave it a bit lower rating is because the selection of meat for hotpot was kind of small, the only noodles option they had was ramen. No vermicelli or other type of noodles choice. They did not have shrimp paste like most places and a lot of other items not there. As far as the Kbbq the meat quality was decent. Again not that much option of meat in my opinion. The other complaint I had was between the meat selection and the dessert area, it really smelled like the bathroom. That part was not it for me, I thought it was like a one time smell I encounter but with multiple times walking by the smell was still there. My ideal rating would be 3 stars for the hot pot and 1.5 for everything else. Maybe it's because they're still smoothing out their kinks but our experience was very chaotic and lackluster. Granted we came in new years day, so I expected it to be busy and crazy, and I wasn't trying to be offended by any of that. We were sat at a table that felt VERY crowded, as there are 4 hot pot spots and a middle grill, and the leftover small space was covered with grill tools and plates. There's a wheeled shelf on the side where we guessed you'd either put more things that wouldn't fit on the table or the additional plates with noodles, veggies, etc. Anyway, you order from a tablet, and the prices were quite hefty for what was available to you in the menu vs. out in the open buffet area. We chose the regular pricing, so we ordered a few grilling meats and headed to the buffet area. This area was ravaged and many things were dirty and/or empty. I saw a few workers trying to refill things but for the volume of customers, this was done VERY slowly. Buffet selection was good, loads of veggies, fish and noodles and other items to add to your hot pot. The sauces area was also a wreck, and that particular section did not get replenished during our entire visit. You get 2 hours per table, by the way. Pros: our broths were tasty. You definitely get full on hot pot and related items. It's cute to have soft serve for dessert. Buffet were fresh and tasted good. Cons: we ordered rice bowls. We never got them. In fact, we asked the waitress for them about 5 times, and each time she said there was an issue, or it wasn't ready, or the rice cooker was slow, yet we saw tables who had paid for the more expensive meal with bowls. No other tables had rice, either. By the end of our 2 hours, we never got rice, which sucks, because you pay for that with your meal. The grill and grill meats are LAUGHABLE. Traditional bbq places give you a plate full of meats. This place has some plates that are full, yes, but if you order something like pork belly, you get ONE half slice per table. I know we are in a recession so I guess this restaurant helps you ration?? Also, if you want a soda, they bring you a cup at some point of your visit and it's your job to go refill it. I had to dump my mt. Dew because it was 5% flavor, 95% bubbles. You will have trouble refilling anyway because 9/10 times your path will be blocked by someone picking up plates upon plates from tables. They park their cleaning cart and take up the whole aisle so you're forced to walk around the entire restaurant to access the drinks and buffet area. Inconsequential to some, annoying to others. Lastly, the grill itself was the bane of our existence and why we only ordered a few grilling meats and gave up. They dropped into the grill, creating fires in most tables, got stuck to the metal wiring and made picking them up a huge challenge without breaking them into piece that would then drip or fall through the holes...it was a disaster. My parents really liked the food and concept but still said 2 stars when I asked for their rating, so maybe give them some time to work things out and return. We've been here a couple times before and decided to bring our friends who never tried this place during their happy hour promotion. When we got there, we were informed that happy hour discounts were not being honored due to the holiday. That's completely understandable, however the issue was that their Instagram post for Memorial Day stated they were open and also listed their usual promotions and discounts in the same post, which reasonably gave the impression that happy hour specials would still be available. Even our server initially seemed confused about the post, and what promotions were or were not being honored, which added to the misunderstanding. We tried to explain that from a customer experience, how misleading the post was, especially when we came in expecting those promotions to be honored. Instead of receiving clarification, the conversation left us even more confused about what promotions were actually being offered and why the post was worded the way it. Overall, the experience felt poorly communicated and unnecessarily frustrating that we ended up leaving. Located in the Great Wall Mall, there's an abundance of parking. But with that, expect to park a bit further during busy time. Located near the central entrance, it was packed for a weeknight dinner. They have a check in kiosk for you to put your name on the waiting list. Upon entering, it was very packed and the seating was a bit tight and they had the meat cart placed under the front side of the table closest to the aisle. It's all you can eat and honestly, for the price, you'd think they'd at least include soda but you actually have to pay additional for that even though it's a self serve soda fountain. The meats were honestly nothing special and tasted very bland regardless of making it in the hotpot or grilling it. Their offerings of other dishes were also as equally lackluster. We didn't really get much assistance with our temperature for the grill and had to figure it out for ourselves and also control the vents. Aside from the food, what really brought down the mood was the music choice/playlist. They kept repeating the same songs 5-6 times and I'm not talking about it coming back on later; I mean it would legitimately repeat and repeat and repeat. The hybrid BBQ and hotpot concept is unique, and I would recommend it to first-time hot pot eaters. However, after eating there for Mother's Day, my family and I unfortunately experienced symptoms of food poisoning. I also thought the broth bowls were pretty small compared to other individual hot pot places I've been to. That said, the service was good, and the bar area was kept clean, the overall layout and interior is nice and well-maintained. I came w some friends on the first week or two it was open and it was very busy (even on a tuesday). We all opted for the hotpot and KBBQ combo. They have a tablet that you can order off of which was easy enough for me but might be a challenge for less technical people. I thought the hot pot experience was good. They have a vast set of sides, meats, and sauces you can access in the middle of the restaurant. The KBBQ was just meh. I felt like we didn't get the meats fast enough and the grill was very sticky. The service was hit or miss but I'll chalk that up to it being their grand opening, so I'm sure they'll work the kinks out. New AYCE hotpot + BBQ in Kent. It's 20 minutes from Sea-Tac Airport, near SR 167 & 180th and located inside the Great Wall Shopping Mall. They have free parking but it's chaotic since they share the lot with 99 Ranch and other small businesses. Get on the tablet wait list as early as possible. People were already queued up before we got there and many more people showed up as we walked out. They did a really nice job with the interior design. Booths can be tight if you're tall though. They played American pop music. I liked the option of both bbq and hot pot. The food was good but the selection at Southcenter YGF is better. The sauce bar takes up a good chunk of space. The buffet doesn't have food labels (yet?) so you have to be familiar with hot pot ingredients. Sorry hot pot beginners, go to YGF in Tukwila if you need a tutorial. This restaurant is currently for the advanced hot pot eaters. I liked having my own individual pot. I was able to customize the soup to my liking. Inspect the buffet dishware before you start piling food onto your plate. I noticed many of the 4 section compartment plates weren't washed properly or not even washed at all. Nothing is more off-putting than touching greasy plates with food residue. I ended up just using the sauce bar bowls because they looked and felt clean. They have in-house restrooms to wash up after handling buffet utensils. They should monitor the cleanliness of the bathroom too at least every hour or more; I will spare you the details. It's really hot in there so wear short sleeves or a tank top. They don't provide aprons so wear dark clothes and don't forget your hair tie or clip if you have long hair. No mouthwash or perfume in the bathrooms so have some in your car or purse. Chris was our server and he was friendly. He reminded me of my younger cousins. Very polite and helpful. I overheard Aunties from another table complimenting him. All staff members were on point and courteous too. I saw robot servers like the ones at Sumo Sushi but they weren't being used yet.
