Oh YGF, how I love this place. No matter how packed it gets, I'm still coming back. Even though I visit often, I wanted to share one of my recent experiences because it really stood out. You get to customize your own bowl here, choosing whatever ingredients you like along with your soup base and spice level, which I absolutely love. I came with a party of six on a super busy day, and the place was absolutely slammed. When we received our food, I noticed my broth had been switched--I had ordered tom yum, but I received beef bone broth instead. I brought it up to the staff, and they immediately apologized and took care of it without any hesitation. Even though they were clearly overwhelmed with customers lining out the door, they handled everything so kindly and professionally. After they corrected the broth and brought my malatang back, the manager even came by several times to check on our table. It wasn't necessary, but it was such a thoughtful touch and really made us feel cared for. Overall, amazing food and even better service, especially considering how busy they were that day. Definitely one of my go-to spots.

Tldr: goto hotpot in the area. Tomato soup is my fave! They also have Boba Ambience: lots of seating but nearly not enough during the rush! Its very clean and organize. The seats are not my favorite, I prefer sitting in the booth. Service: super quick. Friendly, and helpful when you ask questions about anything! Food: I love the soup!!! I usually get tomato soup and I can't try anything else I'm stuck in tomato for now. It's 14.99/lb. Halal/veggie soup options if ur in a group and worried. You can also adjust the spice level.

YGF MalaTang is the perfect place to stop by during a quick lunch break. I love how easy it is to customize and order whatever you want here. This time around I brought my boyfriend to try it out. He isn't the biggest fan of pay by the pound, especially for hot pot places like YGF. However, we both did fairly well with how many ingredients we added in. I kept mine under a pound. His was under two pounds. It wasn't too busy when we visited, so we were able to snag a table without any issues. I will be coming back again!

Perfect comfort food! This place is a gem for cold days. You pick your ingredients and pay by the pound, so there's zero waste and 100% satisfaction. They have a huge variety of ingredients from fresh greens to seafood and specialty noodles. The Sour & Sweet Tomato base is a must-try--the broth is so rich and flavorful. For those who like something a bit more adventurous and spicy, the Tom Yum is a great choice. The restaurant is spotless, the service is welcoming, and the self-serve sauce station is a great bonus. Highly recommended for a clean and delicious customized hot pot experience!

Very nice little spot. Fresh veggies and good quality proteins. Some items were frozen, so that adds unnecessary weight to the entire bowl. The heavier the bowl, the more you pay. The soup base was average and a bit salty. The YFG in California tastes better. I still enjoyed the meal.

I love YGF. If you haven't tried malatang then give this place a try. It's always crowded, but we're always able to find a seat somehow. You pick out what food you'd like in your soup from the fridge and then you choose a soup when you pay. You pay by weight and the bowl is tared. I'd recommend getting the beef bone broth which is super flavorful and has a slight kick.

I have been to a different location before, so I knew I was going to like it, but this location is special! I noticed right off the back how much bigger this location was! Plenty of tables for people to sit at. I liked the accents of orange color and the tasteful decorations on the wall that didn't do too much. I was also pleased with the variety of food options available to put into your bowl from the noodles, vegetables, meat, seafood, and some exotic options too! It was almost overwhelming! They did a good job of getting the food out pretty quickly, even if it was a weekend! Definitely a favorite!

This is one of my go-to lunch spots - it's quick, easy, and has so many options depending on what you're in the mood for. I usually go for the beef bone broth, extra spicy, and build my own bowl with noodles, veggies, and plenty of meat. It's super customizable, which I love. Pricing is around $14 per pound, so it can be as light or as filling as you want. Perfect for days when you're either starving or just want something simple. The sauce bar is also a highlight - they even have recipe ideas if you're not sure what to mix. Service is always great. The staff are really helpful, especially when it comes to setting up tables for larger groups, and everything moves quickly. Depending on the time and crowd, it can be a quick in-and-out lunch or a more relaxed meal - but either way, you really can't go wrong with good soup and a great atmosphere.

I really like this place and concept. Never seen this before. I m a hot pot lover. This is great the service is great to. I will come back to this place for sure. Its very clean and they super fast.

how nice would it be if this location had scales where u could test to see how much ur bowl weighs before each station so that u can anticipate how much u will be paying once u reach the cash register? Also, how neat would it be if the staff did not restock ingredients while people were in line to add ingredients to their bowl? Maybe if they had clear announcements of when restocks would be so everyone backs off the stocks and the staff does their job, the deed would go by faster. Instead, u get staff trying to push their way thru and knocking over guests and their bowls bc they do not have the etiquette to speak with customers. Also would be nice to have the sauces and some toppings be available in servingdfor each table so we not crowding in a line at the corner with all of those add-ons. Anyway, ate here for the first time with my family. Tasted good, but the steps to get the good were a lot.

Quick easy and delicious. Went here with some friends and it was really delicious. I got some noodles (udon), lamb (it was tender and less fatty), some veg. My wife had to get a bowl with soft food. She wasn't happy about skipping the veg. The son pretty much got a giant bowl of mostly meat beef, pork, crawfish, and meat...I think there was some noodles and he tried a bamboo shoot...

Curry soup base with all the goodies!

Great place for malatang - $14.99 per pound for your choice of broth or dry style, noodles, all kinds of veggies, meats and seafood. We usually go to another place in Renton which is pretty good but the selection of items here is much bigger along with more choices for the soup base. The sauce bar has handy recipes on the wall to follow. Everything is fresh and well stocked. The dining area is pretty big, well lit and open. It's a serve yourself but staff are ready to help, and were quick to ring us up. We'll definitely be back to try different combos!

Good: 5/5 I love this place. I probably frequent this place once a week LOL The soup bases are delicious and the custom pick what you want is a fun concept! The sauce bar is also a huge plus too! And it's free!! I always get the beef bone broth, its always tasted good. They also have boba drinks, I've only had the oolong milk and Thai tea. They're both good drinks, definitely on the sweeter side but delicious nonetheless! No comment on the boba as I've never tried it. Service: 5/5 This place gets busy during dinner time and especially on the weekends. With the limited seating the staff helps coordinate so you get your table in a timely manner. Everyone I've interacted thus far are really kind and fun to talk to! Ambiance: 4/5 Definitely not your fancy dine-in vibe as it's DIY but it's a great place for a quick bite. Loads of parking too! Overall: 5/5 Delicious, that's it

My go-to soups are the Taiwanese Spicy, Beef Pot, and Milk Cream Curry each one is packed with flavor and hits every time. Fair warning: the Taiwanese Spicy Hot Pot is actually spicy. I love heat and still feel it, so be ready. Also, service can feel a bit hands-off, especially when it's busy you might need to flag someone down for water. (We don't have Boiling Point in Hawaii.) My niece knew that each customer gets their own Hot Pot that's filled with the broth of their choice. Customers also choose their own set of ingredients. I went with the House Special Soup and the Veggie Mushroom set. It was perfect because I watched my niece peel the shrimp of the Seafood set and thought that it was too much work... LOL! I just enjoyed my noodles (two kinds because the vermicelli replaced the rice), mushrooms, and veggies... and finished all of the yummy broth! Overall, it was a fun, tasty experience! We appreciated the free shared parking and convenient restroom! If you decide to visit this busy, modern location, remember to sign in and wait a bit for a table to open up!

We had a reservation on a Saturday evening but it wasn't that busy. Greeted and sat right away by nice staff. It's a bit of a tight table setup but quite well organized so that each diner can operate the heat of both their hot pot and grill independent of others. Quite a genius concept really and easily learned though odd for familiar diners of each type of cooking. They had this really good stewed pork and quail eggs and a large rice cooker you can help yourself to at the bar while waiting. It was so good I had that for my dessert. A very typical Asian family dish often left on the kitchen stove that we are familiar with. The beverages are included in fridges with many soda lemonade waters and other stuff to grab as you like. There is a huge sauce bar to mix your own. Love the sesame sauce mixed with other things! And a bunch of fresh fruit to help yourself to. The hotpot had a number of choices. Sukiyaki broth looked good and our son loved it. I chose the spicy Szechuan type red broth and ordered it mild but it was still quite hot. Honestly this wasn't as tasty as other hotpot restaurants and even mine I make at home with ginger and garlic is much better. Wish I chose the sukiyaki or basic beef broth like our daughter (it was tasty too). So I gave up after a couple rounds of that and stuck to the bbq. The bbq is small with parchment paper on a steel tray but it cooks up pretty quick and nice. Great general choices with many things available. Spicy pork was not the best I've had though and that's one of my faves. Excellent beef choices and pork belly. Whole head on prawns etc. The list is huge. Overall the service was quite fast and attentive clearing dishes and bringing additional items you order from a tablet. They don't do either type of bbq or hotpot as well as others but it's pretty close and so fun to mix and match! A little extensive but if you can eat a lot it's a fair value.

But they lose 3 stars from me because they use some kind of industrial strength cleaning chemical to wipe down the tables. Hard to enjoy your meal when all you can smell is the same chemical they use to mop the floors at QFC and in my apartment building. Seriously terrible chemical smell while you eat. If they are using a spray bottle to clean at the next table, you'll get a cloud of harsh cleaning chemical up your nostrils while you eat. I've had to rinse off and wiped down my own table with a napkin dampened with tea or water in order to enjoy my meal. When I mentioned this to staff, they were dismissive and haven't changed a thing in over a year when I first brought it to their attention. They should only be using something like quat sanitizer, that doesn't smell, to clean the tables. NOT something that is used for floors or bathrooms. and on a side note: if you decide to mop underneath another table while people are dining next to it, please say "excuse me" or just wait. Instead of almost hitting people in the head with a mop handle without saying a word. Also not great for a dining experience. I have worked in restaurants and F&B management. I know something about these things. You shouldn't use anything on a table for diners that you wouldn't use on a food preparation surface. How many times has a dumpling got away from you and bounced around on the table and you snag it and consume it, because you assume the table isn't being cleaned with floor cleaner? If you agree with me, please say something to the staff, and maybe they'll eventually listen. This is a real shame. The food quality is quite good. Probably best dim sum in South King County. I might just do take-out from now on. There are other high quality Chinese and Asian dining options, that's the bright side of living in this area. But if I'm doing takeout, I might as well just go to Dim Sum House on Beacon Hill (much more reasonable prices and good quality).
