    Chive shrimp dumpling
    Khoo K.

Pleasant, clean and beautiful ambiance tucked in southcenter mall with helpful staffs from reception to the wait staff. Had a short wait time or you can opt to sit at the bar. Food was very good. My favorite is a dish I don't see in other dim sum places- the rice roll with crispy shrimp and nori. Beautiful and delicate dish. The other standard dim sum dishes were good too. My favorite was the chive shrimp dumpling. The stuffed eggplant was tasty too. The bean curd roll was a little heavy on the sauce but it was tasty if you remove the excess sauce. Finally we wanted to balance protein with greens- the stir fried pea vine with extra garlic was satisfying. I also very much appreciate they have refrigerated vinegar for our dishes. Looking forward to be back!

With at least 100 menu items, this is the spot for any dim sum fanatic. Normally, I am wary of such a large menu, but of the ten things we tried, we enjoyed nine of them which is a high success rate! The menu has sections including steamed, fried, noodles, congee, vegetables, soups, desserts and more. Across the menu, we found traditional dim sum fare and some unique options that we normally don't see or that are spins on our favorites. Four of us came at 12:30P when the wait time was 15 - 30 minutes. We asked for a menu sheet so that we could start marking down the items that we wanted to order and that made the wait go by quickly! It was just 15 minutes before we received a ping that our table was ready and the host seated us on the left side of the restaurant, which has a quieter vibe and more space between the tables. Our waiter, Richard, poured our waters right away and after we placed our order, the food started arriving with one or two dishes at a time. In hindsight, our picks really emphasized our love of shrimp! + MIXED MUSHROOM RICE ROLL ($7.50 for 4): Ehh, I didn't like this. It was so bland and I didn't see much variation in the mushrooms either. It needed some salt at a minimum, and even adding a dab of chili oil couldn't save these. Pass! + PORK & SHRIMP WONTONS w/ HOUSE SPICY SAUCE ($10.50 for 6): A thin silky wrapper housed a small shrimp and pork meatball, making for a delicate and juicy wonton. The sauce was thin with a mild heat and touch of vinegar. + SHRIMP DUMPLINGS ($7.95 for 4): Super plump and filled with pure shrimp. The wrapper had the ideal chew and stretch. + PEA VINE & SHRIMP DUMPLINGS ($7.95 for 4): The pea vines didn't bring extra flavor to these shrimp dumplings, but they added nourishment! + HOUSE SPECIAL BBQ PORK BUNS ($7.50 for 3): Really good! The soft baked bun was filled with a scoop of minced BBQ Pork filling. The meat was pretty lean and didn't have any bits of gristle. The unique twist on these buns was their fine crumb topping, reminding me of a pineapple bun top. + DEEP FRIED STUFFED EGGPLANT w/ SHRIMP ($7.50 for 3): Despite being really oily, these were delicious! The shrimp filling was juicy and flavorful, sandwiched between two slices of eggplant. + CRISPY BEAN CURD ROLLS w/ SHRIMP ($7.50 for 3): Chopped shrimp sprinkled with veggies came wrapped in a super crispy bean curd shell. Loved this, but could feel the grease. + FRIED PEA VINES w/ GARLIC ($12.95): Tender fresh pea shoots with a slight crunch on the stems, and cooked with lots of garlic. Really good! + BEEF CHOW FUN ($13.50): This was as expected between the delicate rice noodles and tender beef. The sauce wasn't overly salty either, but the portion was on the small side for the price. + STEAMED MALAY SPONGE CAKE ($6.50): A nice light dessert. It was airy and not too sweet. The service as a whole was friendly, professional and attentive. Different waitstaff would walk by and pick up our empty plates often which was helpful since the food piled up fast! In general, many items come with three pieces, so for the four of us, we had to end up ordering double of a couple things. Our total was $122 before tip. For our leftovers, Richard gladly packed some ice in a cup, when we asked, which we placed in the insulated takeout bag that he provided. Overall, this was a tasty and elevated dim sum experience!

Pleasantly surprised! Prices are higher than average, even for the Seattle area. But the portions are large and the flavor is good. I had low expectations for a place in a shopping mall. Reviews when they first opened weren't great. But that might be expected for a new place. But I came away pretty impressed, maybe because I was expecting the worst. And I went to Eggslut the day before, and they pi$$ed me off. So I was in a bad mood. (don't go to Eggslut). I had the har gow (shrimp dumpling), pork and shrimp shu mai, bean curd roll and beef rice roll. The bean curd roll was $7.25 and the rest of the dishes were $8.25 ea. I didn't want take people with me without knowing the quality, so I that's all I ordered besides the tea. With tax and tip, it was about $38 and I had leftovers. I noticed the bag for the leftovers is nice kind that is insulated, so that's part of what you're paying for, as well as the nicer decor and furnishings. Most negative remarks are in regards to service. For me, servers were friendly and attentive. But I also went right when the opened at 10am on a Sunday. I've a passed by during peak hours and just after the lunch rush and it looks kind of hectic. My suggestion is go early, beat the crowds and you'll enjoy the experience. I'm happy to add this place to my list of faves. It's conveniently located and I'll be back to try more dishes and give takeout a try.

The wait!!!! then we ended up sit at the table that was empty the whole 20+ min we were sitting to wait for a table ....but the location! The conventionality of being in the mall waiting is not so bad ...just pondering the thought process behind an empty table while customer waits ... The food The atmosphere nice, clean, and upscale interior with a dimsum exp I somehow still miss my wait the cart to arrive so I can decide what to eat exp Will I come back? Depending on the wait time

3.5/5 would be the most accurate rating. Located at the exterior of the mall, parking is convenient and getting to the restaurant itself is very easy. The inside is pretty modern and spacious. My friend and I came on a Sunday morning (11:30) and were seated immediately. You order by marking dishes you want on their paper menu. I like their digital menu so you can see pictures too. We ordered the bean curd rolls, radish cake, pan fried meat and veg buns, steamed tripe, egg tarts, pea vines, and the house bbq pork buns. Stand out for me were the bean curd rolls and pea vines. The rolls are extremely thick and saucy. And the bean curd itself was thin and soft. Super yum. The pea vines were savory and garlicky. Hard to mess up. Radish cake, bbq pork buns, steamed tripe, and the pan fried meat and veg buns were not bad! Just average to me. Radish cake could've been a little crispier, steamed tripe could've been a bit more tender, the buns could've been juicier. I was fully disappointed by the egg tarts :c the tart part is nice and flaky, the egg custard is silky smooth, but there's a weird aftertaste to the filling that's very unpleasant. Overall, some goods some not so goods. Service was pretty fast and attentive. Price is quite high though. Don't think anything was worth the money.

Birthday lunch at Mr. Dim Sum! I went in with high hopes and left with a very full, albeit slightly underwhelmed, stomach. The food is perfectly "alright"--nothing was a miss, but nothing quite reached "damn, this is good" territory. Between the Salt & Pepper Pork Chop, Sho Mai, Shanghai dumplings, Hot & Sour Soup everything was technically sound, though my heart might still belong to DTF. The unrivaled star of the show was the Frosted Mango with Coconut Milk drink--creamy, fresh, and a 10/10. If you're in the area, it's worth a visit for the drink alone and a server who values your time as much as their word count!

The food was really good. The ambiance was cozy, relaxing and clean. The service on the other hand; we were seated then they took our order and gave us the order and then we asked our bill. All the time we've been there I didn't really see our server or didn't even check on us even 1 time we still did gave 18% tip. Everything went well except for the service.

New Dim Sum Restaurant alert!! As a dim sum lover, I was thrilled to hear a new restaurant opened. This is located at Southcenter Mall next to Gen and Marugame Udon! First impressions: Ambiance, Service, and Food (4.5/5) My dad and I visited on a Sunday around 12:30pm, we came in right before the rush and got seated within 10 minutes. There was plenty of seating and a large TV playing Sunday sports. Food was good and consistent. I wouldn't say it's outstanding, but it's nice to have a dim sum place outside of International District! I would rank this a tiny bit higher if you're a fan of tripe! I will be coming back!

Not bad at all. It feels more Americanized, but a lot of the items are quite good. I got a lychee mojito and loved it. The feet were large and meaty, and the flavor was excellent. As for the rice rolls on the bottom, they were okay. The radish cakes also had a great texture and I liked the sauce as well. These clearly used more radish and less flour, which led to a lighter, more agreeable taste. Tripe - Juicy and well-balanced umami. Fried....wonton....thing? - Good texture and flavor. Green beans - Not bad. Ribs - Standard flavor. Quite good. Noodles - Eeehh, we felt that this used too much onion and not enough bean sprouts or other ingredients. Overall, seems a bit cloying. This one definitely requires the chili sauce to enjoy.

A stellar experience. Reception was exceptionally friendly and we were seated quicker than the estimate. Space is clean and spacious, with interesting retro images of Guangdong (as this is Guangdong style). Large dimsum list handily divided up by category, i.e. rice rolls, steamed, etc. And a healthy list of dessert items which is rare in a dimsum place, I find. Tried the "purple potato" balls and holy taro sweetness, Batman. (well it's purple). Delicious sweet filled goodness (and hot! watch out!). Quality restaurant and food.

I've tried just about every dim sum establishment in Seattle and the suburbs. I was truly impressed by the quality and taste of everything we ordered. Every dim sum item came out from the kitchen piping hot. The only downside is it's a little pricey and a lot more than I've ever paid for dim sum. Some of the dishes aren't dim sum size, and you don't have a choice but to order regular size. Although I really enjoy going to dim sum a lot, I'll save this place for special occasions. Not everyone can afford paying $13 for a small plate of bok choy.

Mr Dim sum is a good addition for dim sum options south of Seattle. There is a bunch of parking since it is located in Southcenter mall. They offer a lot of decent food options espcially if you don't want to travel farther into Seattle. I won't cover everything but there is a good amount of things I tried. There aren't carts so if you're looking for that I would say you'd need to go somewhere else. You do need more than 1/2 of your party to be seated so keep that in mind. Staff: Very nice and attentive (5/5) Sanitation status: Clean (5/5) XO Stir Fried Rice Roll & Radish Cake (5/5) The flavor was so good in these rice rolls. They had a little bit of a crisp on the outside from being stir fried and together with the green onion and onions made for a refreshing bite packed full of flavor. The radish cake wasn't as crsipy as I've had at other places but the flavor overall was there and I would order it again. Sui Mai (4/5) The Sui mai was good but nothing too special. The meat tasted like it was relatively fresh and there were bigger pieces of shrimp which I enjoyed. Pan Fried Shrimp and Chive Dumpling (4/5) The shrimp and chive dumplings were good here. Full of shrimp and chives that haven't been minced up which is important. Overall pretty solid if you like chives. Sticky Rice (4/5) The sticky rice was good, a bigger size. It had pork meat as well as chinese sausage inside. I typically like my sticky rice to have more sauce to the meat but it was still decent, nothing mind blowing but if you're looking for it then it'll do the job. Crispy Rice Shrimp Roll (5/5) This was definitely one of the more interesting options we tried here but I absolutely loved it. It had shrimp that was wrapped in crispy rice and the rice roll on the outside was infused with what tasted like matcha. Overall it made for a very cohesive bit in terms of having crispy but chewy and soft textures.

For this visit, I came in a group of 5 to celebrate Mother's Day a day early. Even with that, we had to put our name down on a waitlist, and even wait longer than usual since we did not make a reservation ahead of time through the phone. We did eventually get seated about an hour later and got a big table with the rotating glass in the middle for our family-style eating. For it being really busy and people coming in and out everywhere inside, food came out even faster! I swear it took like 15 or so minutes for all the dishes we got to arrive, and they are huge portions. - Lemon chicken: I always ask for the sauce on the side for this one. This is the only place I know of that uses chicken breast for the meat and not chicken thighs like most other Chinese restaurants do. Chicken tempura is crispy and chicken itself is juicy and really hot. Lemon sauce came on a bigger-than-expected bowl. - Mustard green and sliced pork soup: we asked for this one without the salty egg. Essentially a very clean soup with tofu, veggies, egg whites and small pieces of sliced pork. - Lotus root with fresh squid and peanut: lotus roots were a little crunchy, pretty nice dish overall with the peanuts putting their nutty mark throughout the ingredients. - Salt and pepper sole fillet: very salty but to the point where you don't need any sort of sauce. Came in very piping hot. - Ong cai/water spinach: pretty standard for most Chinese restaurants. Clean and a needed veggie among all the fried and salty dishes we got. - Singaporean style noodles: one of my favorites to get. Curry taste is prevalent, and was maybe a little too spicy for my parents to eat. - Razor clams: not a fan of these but I didn't taste any sand grains when I had a bite, so this was cleaned very well. - Lamb pot: lamb was a little touch to chew, and the fried tofu skins carried a lot more flavor for some reason. This was a humongous meal and we were all very satisfied! From other visits we were considering getting their slow cooked herb soup for this visit but it would be $16 per person so we did pass on it. That being said, dishes here are priced reasonably, and portions are really huge. Highly recommend here for a great meal for large parties!

But for those in the know, Triumph Valley is really known for their dim sum menu! Off the beaten path, you have to take State Highway 167, as its just south of the large IKEA store. But definitely a culinary landmark if you are a constant diner of Chinese cuisine, and dim sum afficianado. There are only three dim sum, or dumpling lunch providers in or around the City of Renton (technically two). This is one of them, and if you are not early, it can get really crowded, especially on weekends. But the staff bravely soldiers-on with their dilligent service. The restaurant's ambiance takes advantage of its interior with strategic lighting in their dining hall. Very utilitarian, while trying to ensure a little bit of style. They also modernize the experience with electronic waiting and ordering system on portable touch screens. It actually helps the service. No paper. As for me, my focus is on the dim sum. All of my favorites are there. And, as diner of one, it was hard not to want to order everything. So, I ordered the "basics" of a dim sum lunch. One order of Shiu Mai, one order of Har Gow, and one order steamed BBQ Pork. It was pretty much all you need along with an order of tea, as well as a Diet Coke to wash it all down. There were other traditional dim sum selections, but I knew my tummy (and wallet) wouldn't absorb it all - as much as I would have liked. Steamed beancurd sheets, beef meatballs, steamed sticky rice in banana leaves... chicken feet, it was all there. The best way is to make a plan, and invite lots of freinds to make sure you can try EVERYTHING! Yes, there are other menu items, like I said, but for Dim Sum dining in Renton, this is the place!!!!
