OMG I love Mr. Dim Sum and it is now my favorite dim sum restaurant! I was there on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't very busy, but I think it gets packed on the weekends. The menu has a QR code you can scan to see pictures of each dish, which was really helpful for me. We ordered shrimp dumplings, pork & shrimp shui mai, chicken buns, pork pot stickers, egg tarts, egg fried rice, and chicken fried noodles. Everything was delicious. The dumplings, shui mai, and pot stickers were huge. The fried rice and fried noodles were large portions as well. The egg tarts were creamy and the crust was flaky. I accidentally ordered too much food for two people, but I would do it again! We liked being able to try a variety of dishes and we always love leftovers. Our server was really generous with to-go boxes and she also gave us the nicest takeout bag I've ever seen (it was sturdy and looked lightly insulated)! Our server was nice and efficient. I can't think of any malls in the US with a dim sum spot attached[1]; this was a pleasant surprise. Plenty of tables. During busy times there'll be a wait. If your party is small, shoot for the bar. It'll get you to siu mai faster, and maybe to a Long Island Iced Tea. Or a beer? I've been here a couple times, and food has consistently been good. There's a variety of dim sum offerings. Coming from North Carolina, we never seen a dim sum restaurant inside or attached to a mall in the USA. This is not just a dim sum restaurant inside a mall, it is a good dim sum restaurant. First time dining in the restaurant, only had takeout before. Service was super slow this Father's Day morning and our server was missing for long periods of time during our meal. Other servers jumped in to help but they had their hands full with other tables. Food was tasty, with the exception of the egg tarts and soup dumplings. Shu Mai were juicy and plump, same with the Har Gow. Beef rice rolls were also large portioned and good. We over ordered as usual and had a lot of leftovers. Portuguese egg tarts were dry and not very flavorful - they took awhile and were the last arrive so that may have impacted their quality today. Shanghai soup dumplings had a weird broth flavor and dumpling skins came out dimpled and wrinkled. I think they were over steamed. With at least 100 menu items, this is the spot for any dim sum fanatic. Normally, I am wary of such a large menu, but of the ten things we tried, we enjoyed nine of them which is a high success rate! The menu has sections including steamed, fried, noodles, congee, vegetables, soups, desserts and more. Across the menu, we found traditional dim sum fare and some unique options that we normally don't see or that are spins on our favorites. Four of us came at 12:30P when the wait time was 15 - 30 minutes. We asked for a menu sheet so that we could start marking down the items that we wanted to order and that made the wait go by quickly! It was just 15 minutes before we received a ping that our table was ready and the host seated us on the left side of the restaurant, which has a quieter vibe and more space between the tables. Our waiter, Richard, poured our waters right away and after we placed our order, the food started arriving with one or two dishes at a time. In hindsight, our picks really emphasized our love of shrimp! + MIXED MUSHROOM RICE ROLL ($7.50 for 4): Ehh, I didn't like this. It was so bland and I didn't see much variation in the mushrooms either. It needed some salt at a minimum, and even adding a dab of chili oil couldn't save these. Pass! + PORK & SHRIMP WONTONS w/ HOUSE SPICY SAUCE ($10.50 for 6): A thin silky wrapper housed a small shrimp and pork meatball, making for a delicate and juicy wonton. The soft baked bun was filled with a scoop of minced BBQ Pork filling. The meat was pretty lean and didn't have any bits of gristle. The unique twist on these buns was their fine crumb topping, reminding me of a pineapple bun top. + DEEP FRIED STUFFED EGGPLANT w/ SHRIMP ($7.50 for 3): Despite being really oily, these were delicious! The shrimp filling was juicy and flavorful, sandwiched between two slices of eggplant. + CRISPY BEAN CURD ROLLS w/ SHRIMP ($7.50 for 3): Chopped shrimp sprinkled with veggies came wrapped in a super crispy bean curd shell. Overall, the service staff lacked even the slightest bit of experience. I had the opportunity to explore Mr. dim sum vegan menu and it was ultimately underwhelming. The vegan dumplings I ordered tasted really bad. The dough had an aftertaste that was similar to something chemical like. The filling was OK but I couldn't get past that chemical taste. The rice dish with bean sprouts that I ordered, I can't remember the name, came with hair in it. Luckily they were able to send it back and give me a new one. The service was so amazing and nice! The food was incredible! I loved the atmosphere, it was so calm and a great place to relax and enjoy some good food. One of my recommendations is to get the Hong Kong iced milk tea, it tastes almost exactly like Thai iced tea, and was a great pair with the food. My friend and I came on a Sunday morning (11:30) and were seated immediately. You order by marking dishes you want on their paper menu. I like their digital menu so you can see pictures too. We ordered the bean curd rolls, radish cake, pan fried meat and veg buns, steamed tripe, egg tarts, pea vines, and the house bbq pork buns. Stand out for me were the bean curd rolls and pea vines. I've been to Mr. Dim Sum quite a few times now, and each experience has been great! Located in Southcenter mall across from Gen BBQ, this place is a convenient spot for delicious dim sum. I often come here with my family after some quick shopping, and each experience has been positive. Staff are always kind, friendly, and helpful, and they're very attentive to things such as filling up waters or checking in on us. Regarding the food, I'd say the price of each dim sum dish is fairly reasonable especially compared to other spots in the Seattle area. One thing that certainly stands out however is the size of the items, I feel like each dim sum item is large and stuffed with delicious fillings, making it much more worth the price point. One of my personal favorite items is the house special BBQ Pork Bungs. The buns have a delicious bbq pork filling, and the crumb topping adds a subtle sweetness and change in texture. You really can't go wrong with the other traditional dim sum items as well -- I love their har gow and siu mai! read more

Reviews when they first opened weren't great. But that might be expected for a new place. But I came away pretty impressed, maybe because I was expecting the worst. And I went to Eggslut the day before, and they pi$$ed me off. So I was in a bad mood. (don't go to Eggslut). I had the har gow (shrimp dumpling), pork and shrimp shu mai, bean curd roll and beef rice roll. The bean curd roll was $7.25 and the rest of the dishes were $8.25 ea. I didn't want take people with me without knowing the quality, so I that's all I ordered besides the tea. With tax and tip, it was about $38 and I had leftovers. I noticed the bag for the leftovers is nice kind that is insulated, so that's part of what you're paying for, as well as the nicer decor and furnishings. Most negative remarks are in regards to service. For me, servers were friendly and attentive. But I also went right when the opened at 10am on a Sunday. I've a passed by during peak hours and just after the lunch rush and it looks kind of hectic. My suggestion is go early, beat the crowds and you'll enjoy the experience. I decided to go to Mr. Dim Sum for a weeknight dinner. There was no wait, which was great. The restaurant was pretty busy, but it's not particularly loud so it's very good for conversations. What is interesting about Mr. Dim Sum is that the size of the dim sum itself is much larger than expected. In other dim sum restaurants I've been to, most of the dumplings I see are generally small. These ones here are huge and packed with flavor. If this is your first time here, I'd recommend ordering in waves just because you might be surprised by the portion sizes here. The food came out generally pretty quickly, and overall I liked the food. Parking is very easy since it's in the Southcenter mall, so there are always spots available, though they may not be super close to the restaurant. The staff was friendly too! As for the rice rolls on the bottom, they were okay. The radish cakes also had a great texture and I liked the sauce as well. These clearly used more radish and less flour, which led to a lighter, more agreeable taste. Tripe - Juicy and well-balanced umami. Fried....wonton....thing? - Good texture and flavor. Mr Dim sum is a good addition for dim sum options south of Seattle. There is a bunch of parking since it is located in Southcenter mall. They offer a lot of decent food options espcially if you don't want to travel farther into Seattle. I won't cover everything but there is a good amount of things I tried. Full of shrimp and chives that haven't been minced up which is important. Overall pretty solid if you like chives. Sticky Rice (4/5) The sticky rice was good, a bigger size. It had pork meat as well as chinese sausage inside. I typically like my sticky rice to have more sauce to the meat but it was still decent, nothing mind blowing but if you're looking for it then it'll do the job. Crispy Rice Shrimp Roll (5/5) This was definitely one of the more interesting options we tried here but I absolutely loved it. I've tried just about every dim sum establishment in Seattle and the suburbs. I was truly impressed by the quality and taste of everything we ordered. Every dim sum item came out from the kitchen piping hot. The only downside is it's a little pricey and a lot more than I've ever paid for dim sum. Some of the dishes aren't dim sum size, and you don't have a choice but to order regular size. Although I really enjoy going to dim sum a lot, I'll save this place for special occasions. Located inside southcenter mall but with its entrance right next to the mall entrance. Plenty of parking but expect to park a bit further if you come during a busy day. Inside, there's a ton of seating as well as a bar so you have different options for seating. The staff were very friendly and always made sure to check in on us. With that, they were also very quick with getting all our food out to us with the exception of two dishes where they ended up remembering at the end and we asked them to just give it to us as takeout because we wanted to try it. First and foremost; definitely be aware that these portions are a lot bigger than your traditional dim sum so if you were a party of 4 like ourselves, I would stick to ordering one of everything you want and not ordering two orders. My favorites of all the dishes we ordered were honestly the vegetables. Each dish was very flavor and didn't feel the slightest bit bland. They complemented any of the other orders we ate.
