I've been to Mr. Dim Sum quite a few times now, and each experience has been great! Located in Southcenter mall across from Gen BBQ, this place is a convenient spot for delicious dim sum. I often come here with my family after some quick shopping, and each experience has been positive. Staff are always kind, friendly, and helpful, and they're very attentive to things such as filling up waters or checking in on us. Regarding the food, I'd say the price of each dim sum dish is fairly reasonable especially compared to other spots in the Seattle area. One thing that certainly stands out however is the size of the items, I feel like each dim sum item is large and stuffed with delicious fillings, making it much more worth the price point. One of my personal favorite items is the house special BBQ Pork Bungs. The buns have a delicious bbq pork filling, and the crumb topping adds a subtle sweetness and change in texture. You really can't go wrong with the other traditional dim sum items as well -- I love their har gow and siu mai! read more

Pleasant, clean and beautiful ambiance tucked in southcenter mall with helpful staffs from reception to the wait staff. Had a short wait time or you can opt to sit at the bar. Food was very good. My favorite is a dish I don't see in other dim sum places- the rice roll with crispy shrimp and nori. Beautiful and delicate dish. The other standard dim sum dishes were good too. My favorite was the chive shrimp dumpling. The stuffed eggplant was tasty too. The bean curd roll was a little heavy on the sauce but it was tasty if you remove the excess sauce. I decided to go to Mr. Dim Sum for a weeknight dinner. There was no wait, which was great. The restaurant was pretty busy, but it's not particularly loud so it's very good for conversations. What is interesting about Mr. Dim Sum is that the size of the dim sum itself is much larger than expected. In other dim sum restaurants I've been to, most of the dumplings I see are generally small. These ones here are huge and packed with flavor. If this is your first time here, I'd recommend ordering in waves just because you might be surprised by the portion sizes here. The food came out generally pretty quickly, and overall I liked the food. Parking is very easy since it's in the Southcenter mall, so there are always spots available, though they may not be super close to the restaurant. The staff was friendly too! With at least 100 menu items, this is the spot for any dim sum fanatic. Normally, I am wary of such a large menu, but of the ten things we tried, we enjoyed nine of them which is a high success rate! The menu has sections including steamed, fried, noodles, congee, vegetables, soups, desserts and more. Across the menu, we found traditional dim sum fare and some unique options that we normally don't see or that are spins on our favorites. Four of us came at 12:30P when the wait time was 15 - 30 minutes. We asked for a menu sheet so that we could start marking down the items that we wanted to order and that made the wait go by quickly! It was just 15 minutes before we received a ping that our table was ready and the host seated us on the left side of the restaurant, which has a quieter vibe and more space between the tables. Our waiter, Richard, poured our waters right away and after we placed our order, the food started arriving with one or two dishes at a time. In hindsight, our picks really emphasized our love of shrimp! + MIXED MUSHROOM RICE ROLL ($7.50 for 4): Ehh, I didn't like this. It was so bland and I didn't see much variation in the mushrooms either. It needed some salt at a minimum, and even adding a dab of chili oil couldn't save these. Pass! + PORK & SHRIMP WONTONS w/ HOUSE SPICY SAUCE ($10.50 for 6): A thin silky wrapper housed a small shrimp and pork meatball, making for a delicate and juicy wonton. The sauce was thin with a mild heat and touch of vinegar. + SHRIMP DUMPLINGS ($7.95 for 4): Super plump and filled with pure shrimp. The wrapper had the ideal chew and stretch. + PEA VINE & SHRIMP DUMPLINGS ($7.95 for 4): The pea vines didn't bring extra flavor to these shrimp dumplings, but they added nourishment! + HOUSE SPECIAL BBQ PORK BUNS ($7.50 for 3): Really good! The soft baked bun was filled with a scoop of minced BBQ Pork filling. The meat was pretty lean and didn't have any bits of gristle. The unique twist on these buns was their fine crumb topping, reminding me of a pineapple bun top. + DEEP FRIED STUFFED EGGPLANT w/ SHRIMP ($7.50 for 3): Despite being really oily, these were delicious! The shrimp filling was juicy and flavorful, sandwiched between two slices of eggplant. + CRISPY BEAN CURD ROLLS w/ SHRIMP ($7.50 for 3): Chopped shrimp sprinkled with veggies came wrapped in a super crispy bean curd shell. Loved this, but could feel the grease. + FRIED PEA VINES w/ GARLIC ($12.95): Tender fresh pea shoots with a slight crunch on the stems, and cooked with lots of garlic. Really good! + BEEF CHOW FUN ($13.50): This was as expected between the delicate rice noodles and tender beef. The sauce wasn't overly salty either, but the portion was on the small side for the price. + STEAMED MALAY SPONGE CAKE ($6.50): A nice light dessert. It was airy and not too sweet. The service as a whole was friendly, professional and attentive. Different waitstaff would walk by and pick up our empty plates often which was helpful since the food piled up fast! In general, many items come with three pieces, so for the four of us, we had to end up ordering double of a couple things. Our total was $122 before tip. For our leftovers, Richard gladly packed some ice in a cup, when we asked, which we placed in the insulated takeout bag that he provided. My friend and I came on a Sunday morning (11:30) and were seated immediately. You order by marking dishes you want on their paper menu. I like their digital menu so you can see pictures too. We ordered the bean curd rolls, radish cake, pan fried meat and veg buns, steamed tripe, egg tarts, pea vines, and the house bbq pork buns. Stand out for me were the bean curd rolls and pea vines. The food is perfectly "alright"--nothing was a miss, but nothing quite reached "damn, this is good" territory. Between the Salt & Pepper Pork Chop, Sho Mai, Shanghai dumplings, Hot & Sour Soup everything was technically sound, though my heart might still belong to DTF. I have to get her attention to get a glass wine because she never checks to see if I need anything or is everything ok. I wait for my receipt while she left her payment device in front of me for the longest time and she was just chatting with co worker and the host. When I asked her for the receipt and told her how terrible the service was she puts on the most fake smile and told me to have a good day when she had just ruined the good feeling I always have with Mr. Dim Sum. I've tried just about every dim sum establishment in Seattle and the suburbs. I was truly impressed by the quality and taste of everything we ordered. Every dim sum item came out from the kitchen piping hot. The only downside is it's a little pricey and a lot more than I've ever paid for dim sum. Some of the dishes aren't dim sum size, and you don't have a choice but to order regular size. Although I really enjoy going to dim sum a lot, I'll save this place for special occasions. As for the rice rolls on the bottom, they were okay. The radish cakes also had a great texture and I liked the sauce as well. These clearly used more radish and less flour, which led to a lighter, more agreeable taste. Tripe - Juicy and well-balanced umami. Fried....wonton....thing? - Good texture and flavor. Mr Dim sum is a good addition for dim sum options south of Seattle. There is a bunch of parking since it is located in Southcenter mall. They offer a lot of decent food options espcially if you don't want to travel farther into Seattle. I won't cover everything but there is a good amount of things I tried. There aren't carts so if you're looking for that I would say you'd need to go somewhere else. You do need more than 1/2 of your party to be seated so keep that in mind. They had a little bit of a crisp on the outside from being stir fried and together with the green onion and onions made for a refreshing bite packed full of flavor. The radish cake wasn't as crsipy as I've had at other places but the flavor overall was there and I would order it again. Sui Mai (4/5) The Sui mai was good but nothing too special. The meat tasted like it was relatively fresh and there were bigger pieces of shrimp which I enjoyed. Pan Fried Shrimp and Chive Dumpling (4/5) The shrimp and chive dumplings were good here. Full of shrimp and chives that haven't been minced up which is important. Overall pretty solid if you like chives. Sticky Rice (4/5) The sticky rice was good, a bigger size. It had pork meat as well as chinese sausage inside. I typically like my sticky rice to have more sauce to the meat but it was still decent, nothing mind blowing but if you're looking for it then it'll do the job. Crispy Rice Shrimp Roll (5/5) This was definitely one of the more interesting options we tried here but I absolutely loved it. It had shrimp that was wrapped in crispy rice and the rice roll on the outside was infused with what tasted like matcha. Really delicious dim sum! My son and I had an end of first semester (of High School) celebration lunch here and loved this spot. Every dish was well seasoned and prepared and prices seemed moderate for the area. It is a large, clean, attractive interior with easy parking as it's in a well established mall. Located inside southcenter mall but with its entrance right next to the mall entrance. Plenty of parking but expect to park a bit further if you come during a busy day. Inside, there's a ton of seating as well as a bar so you have different options for seating. The staff were very friendly and always made sure to check in on us. With that, they were also very quick with getting all our food out to us with the exception of two dishes where they ended up remembering at the end and we asked them to just give it to us as takeout because we wanted to try it. First and foremost; definitely be aware that these portions are a lot bigger than your traditional dim sum so if you were a party of 4 like ourselves, I would stick to ordering one of everything you want and not ordering two orders. My favorites of all the dishes we ordered were honestly the vegetables. Each dish was very flavor and didn't feel the slightest bit bland. They complemented any of the other orders we ate. After being on a train and subjected to American food for 6 meals (no offense), I needed some motherland food: cue in Mr. Dim Sum. This restaurant looks a lot smaller from the outside, but is very modern and close to where I was staying (quite near the south center mall). My parents and myself went to Mr. dim sum on a weekend, so it was a little busy, but the wait was only about 15 minutes, which was nice. The staff was on the younger end, but was still very accommodating and efficient (though they did forget a dish of my mom's, but no harm no foul they apologized). As Post Malone played in the background, we feast it on a plethora of items: pan, fried turnip cake (these were the *cue drake* best I ever had; light and turnip-y, chicken feet (missing the black bean taste, more anise flavor), har gao (huge but also delicious), vegetable fried rice (hard pass for the amount, price, and taste; no wok hey!), shrimp look funn (oh man, cue drake again!), Chinese broccoli (standard), salt and pepper calamari (nicely breaded but skimpy amount), pork hash (also huge and standard). Did we over eat? Yes. Were we happy with what we ate? Mostly. Would we go back? Yes. Well, it (cue drake for the third time) The best I ever had, but it was pretty dang good. There were particular dishes I would go specifically back for, while passing on some others. Given the proximity of convenience and wait time in addition to waitstaff, cleanliness, they're a pretty good choice for dim sum. We found this dim sum place in the tukwila mall and it was such a pleasant surprise. They have great food and a really unique presentation for a lot of the dishes here. Our first few times here it felt like it was a little overpriced, but I think it's actually just that they're serving. Sizes are huge so it comes out too. The same price as other locations and the food quality is actually a little bit better. There are a surprisingly large amount of good restaurants in this mall, but this is a family favorite if we're ever around the Seattle airport area. Coming off of a cruise, I always want Asian food when I return. Mr. Dim Sum was the designated spot leaving the airport. Siu Mai, Ha Gow and pan fried chives and shrimp dumpling are super plump and shareable. Everything came out fresh, piping hot and made to order. My favorites were the crispy rice roll with shrimp and nori, purple potato with golden custard balls. These are unique items that you don't typically find at other dim sum joints. The surprising favorite was the steamed BBQ pork bun. My go to is the baked version but I checked the wrong box here. I found the steamed version to be well proportioned with the dough and tasty BBQ pork filling vs too much dough and not enough filling. I would have this again! I found some items to lack flavor including the sticky rice in lotus wrap (lo mai gai) and pork puffs (hom sui gok). The pork filling was on the bland side for both. My family and I came to Mr. Dim Sum this past weekend for the first time. We arrived at 10am on Saturday morning, which is when they open. Note that they do not take reservations. Mr. Dim Sum is the newest dim sum restaurant in Tukwila and is located inside of Westfield South Center Mall between Marugame Udon and Gen Korean Restaurant. It had a write-up in the Seattle Time this past January, but we decided to wait until after Lunar New Years to give it a try. They serve all day dim sum, which is a rarity, especially outside of International District/Chinatown. Mr. Dim Sun is definitely more modern and upscale than your average International District dim sum restaurant, almost mimicking the fancy Chinese restaurants you find in Richmond, B.C. The interior is intricately decorated with paper lamps and carved wooden partitions. It is very clean and they serve your food in wooden hexagonal boxes or on a fancy platter. We ordered the... - STIR FRIED GREEN BEANS WITH GARLIC ($10.95) - fantastic dish that has super strong garlic flavor and garlic crisps and is not overly oily. Would 10/10 get this dish again. - STIR FRIED RICE RILLS WITH XO SAUCE (dried scallop/shrimp) ($12.50) - I thought this dish would use the cylindrical rice rolls like Korean Toppokki, but it actually was mushier and tasted more like Italian Gnocchi. Regardless of the texture, the XO flavor was good and there was plenty of little shrimps and onion. - SHRIMP DUMPLINGS ($7.95) - these dumplings were HUGE and the wrapper was just right (not too thick and not too thin). They weren't super tasty on their own though and needed some soy sauce or chili oil from the table to add some flavor. Ive definitely had better, but these are passable. Would not order again. Each order contains 3 baos. - BBQ PORK STEAMED BAO ($7.25) - these were ten times better than the chicken version. The barbecue pork was nicely marinated and had just the right ratio of sweet/savory Chinese bbq sauce in the middle. Each order also contains 3 baos. - PAN FRIED RADISH CAKE ($7.25) - these were also somewhat disappointing as they were bland and mushy. These came with hoisin sauce which I didn't really think went with it, but also didn't save the dish. Each order comes with 3 cakes. - PAN FRIED TARO CAKE WITH PORK ($7.95) - these were much better than the radish cake as they were super crispy on the outside (almost like chow mein crispy) and had great savory taste. I didn't have to add any sauce to these- they were absolutely delicious! Each order comes with 3 cakes. - PURPLE POTATO WITH GOLDEN CUSTARD BALLS ($8.25) - this is the most unique dish that Mr. Dim Sum offers and the one that had the Seattle Times food critics raving about. They may just look like fried donut holes on the outside, but the inside contains mashed purple sweet potato (Ube) with sweet and gooey egg custard filling. The contrast between the dark purple potato and the bright golden egg is quite aesthetic. Served piping hot, these were fantastic and my boyfriend's favorite of the dishes- just be careful not to burn your mouth or fingers. Each order comes with 3 balls. MIXED MUSHROOM RICE ROLLS ($7.50) - as someone who enjoys mushrooms, this was my pick. The inside was earthy and contained a mix of black mushrooms and other mushrooms. The rice wrappers though were quite thin and broke easily when trying to serve them. I would've preferred them to be thicker and chewier. These were okay overall, but would probably not order them again. JASMINE TEA ($2.20 per person) - they give you a teapot to share. The tea was very hot and fragrant. TLDR- get the stir fried garlic green beans, the purple potato with golden custard balls, and the fried taro cakes. Service was good and we got our food within 15-20 minutes after ordering. I will note that portions are on the smaller side here (think like Din Tai Fung sized or smaller), but the quality is on par with many other dim sum restaurants in Seattle (plus it saves you a trip from having to go into the city). With that said, I think the dim sum at Triumph Valley in Renton does just of a good job as here, but with larger portions and slightly cheaper prices. I discovered this place by accident, not expecting to find a Dim Sum place in a mall. It is located near one of the back entrances on the first floor. I've come here twice, because the food is overall pretty good. I like the quality of the dough and how much they fill up their dumplings. The flavor of the meat itself is okay, it is enough to hit that craving. Staff is very nice, very attentive if it is empty but if they are busy it's harder to get a hold of someone. The first time I came it was empty, but the second time it was pretty packed we only had to wait a couple minutes before being seated. Even when it's packed it's not super loud. Everything is kept clean. I've tried the Shrimp Dumplings, Pork & Shrimp Shumai, Shanghai Dumpling, Chive Shrimp Dumpling, Beef Tripe, and Shrimp Rice Rolls. My favorite has always been the rice rolls, even though these are thicker than usual. The shumai is great too. Quality-wise, everything is okay. It's rather expensive for dimsum, without any standout reason (e.g. quality ingredients, special items). It is rather convenient, and located at a mall, so my understanding is that is where the pricey-prices are stemming from. The service is straightforward, I do like their non-alcoholic bevies. They do a HH but the 2 visits during that timeframe, you couldn't order any non-alcoholic drinks (they said they were out), though there are some listed on HH. As someone who isn't a big dimsum person, I'd skip it but if you are, I think it's worth trying. They seem like they're aiming for a night-vibe with a bar though it's a bit small. Reminds me of something I've seen in Asia. Nothing has been bad, it's really just on the pricier end... If I wanted dimsum, I have some more affordable spot's I'd drive out to. read more

Having dim sum in the mall is really nice! Came here before dropping off my grandma at the airport. Food portions were larger than other dim sums. For a table of 7 we are going more for tasting different things rather than bigger portions. Taste was pretty good. Service was ok. There were 2 dishes we needed to send back because there was something at the bottom of the cup and also there was hardened rice stuck on the rim of the bowl. Food took about 15 minutes to come out after we walked in and we had to waive down the server to get that started and also to get a lot of things even though restaurant wasn't that packed for a Sunday evening at 4:30pm Ambiance was good- had some good songs. I would come back because of the convenience to the airport and also it's in the mall, but definitely not the best, authentic dim sum I've ever been to. read more

Came here with a girlfriend for dinner. Fairly big portions. Ambiance great. Waiter was wearing black coats and polite. We ordered 4 dishes between the two of us with few pieces to take home. We paid $20 each. The black pepper spareribs would not recommend meat was not tender. The fried taro with pork/shrimp was christy and tasty My fave was the fried tofu skins with shrimp! Flavorful, lots of shrimp and just the right crunch to it Atmosphere was open, modern and clean! Would definitely go again.
