    8 banchans
    Maggie L.

Located in a plaza of car repair shops, this place is definitely a hidden gem. My first time here, and I think it made it into my top 3 Korean restaurants in Federal Way. Food is delicious - good variety of banchan (gobo is my favorite), large portion at reasonable price. It was not busy on a Thursday lunch. Food came out pretty fast, and we got banchans refilled once. Highly recommend the seafood pancake - crispy and not too oily, and pairs well with the sauce of the spicy squid with vegetables (also recommend). The pork neck soup was just alright. Man, I really wish I could give rate this place between a 4.5&4.9 Me and my partner come down to Federal Way from Seattle every now and then to eat all the good Korean food. This was a new place for us and what I can say is we will definitely be back. I kept saying to myself, " I wish I wasn't full so I could eat more".The banchan was top notch. My favorite were the tiny fishes with peppers, the potato, and the kimchi. I've never seen the tiny fish at other spots, and the potato was a pleasant surprise, I mean the kimchi had a solid kick to it too. Yeah I could come here and eat the banchan with rice and I'll be happy. Also shout-out to our server. Didn't catch her name but thank you for being amazing, and nice, and reading out minds when we wanted refills on the banchan. We got the steamed egg, fried chicken w French fries, and spicy tofu pork stir fry. Would recommend all dishes.

My friend treated me here for my birthday dinner couple days ago and had an AWESOME experience! The server aka my birthday twin was SUPER friendly and attentive ensuring all our needs were taken care of. Banchan selection was amazing and the gamja jeongol was also spot on in flavor! My friend's soondubu and steamed egg were also delicious. Definitely making another plan to visit! Lives up to its Bap Jip name- home-cooked korean meal place

This place is a little hard to find as the yard sandwiched between multiple auto stores. Really friendly staff and quick service. The food was very homey, not too salty but very flavorful. They have a front and back seating area.

I had two delicious dinners at this new Korean place in federal way! Their ban Chan was plentiful and well seasoned - one of the best places I've had for ban Chan! Additionally the dishes were all in big portions and reasonably priced! My favorite dish I've had was soondubu but I've also the seafood pancakes, pork and kimchi soup, spicy pork soup, stir fried spicy squid and so much more! The nicest two Korean ladies were the cooks of this amazing restaurant and they were able to pop out delicious meals very quickly! I will continue to eat at this yummy establishment!

Sooo good, side dishes were so authentic the best I've had in a while (besides eating at home). Serving sizes match the prices probably best to come w other people. Service is so kind and polite, they came to check up on us a few times but not too much either. Very cozy and home-style restaurant!

Family & incredible food. We love this place!

Doomscrolling. That's all it took to find Bap Jip. I have to admit that a great chef I follow recommended this place, and I was interested. With a name that means literally home cooked meal, with high praise from a Korean chef, I found myself looking for excuses to come eat here. I live in Bonney Lake, and good Asian food in general is within the greater corridor that is federal way all the way north into Tukwila. I would drive much farther to eat this place if I had to. Let's get down to it. It's a fairly unassuming location, don't miss either driveway to pull in! The place is a basic design inside with the pops of the neon beer and soju signs, and some LED strips and TVs. Charming and simple. We were quickly seated by the owners daughter and given menus while the table nearby started cooking pork belly on a tabletop grill. My wife was craving Soondubu Jjigae and I followed her lead. We also got the Kimchi pancake, and my kids shared fried rice with pork, and I had to get the fluffy soufflé style egg, gyeran jjim. Everything here was incredible even down to the not too starchy rice, which when you're making huge amounts as a restaurant is a subtle mark of the staff paying attention to the details. The soondubu jjigae (spicy soft tofu soup with meat of your choice) is served in the classic earthen pot, bubbling. The amount of tofu is amazing, it's like each bowl gets nearly a whole package of a silken tofu tube! The kimchi pancake was delicious, crispy, mellow heat and not overly oily, everyone at the table battled for more slices. I didn't count on inhaling 3-4 slices but here we are. The fluffy egg with a touch of sesame oil is just a simple but effective break from spicy soup, a cloud texture with that eggy near custard consistency. The fried rice really had that wok sear and caught me off guard being so good. This is a go-to for people who might be less adventurous with Korean food, while still being delicious. All the small banchan (side dishes) were great across the spectrum of flavors Bap Jip has, and familiar favorites across Korean food. The staff are warm and friendly, the food came out quickly, and everyone ate like kings while Twice, Idle, and other kpop videos played on the TVs completing the vibes here. I would have added more photos, but we were enjoying ourselves so much I forgot. This review is getting long! I don't usually write them often. This is my favorite spot in Federal Way now. It doesn't matter if you have a Korean mom / grandma or not - inside Bap Jip, she's cooking for you. And that's as good as anyone could ask for.

New name and menu with a variety of dishes and sharable stews. The ambiance could be better but service is friendly. We shared a spicy pork bone stew and it was spicy!

Ordered spicy squid, pork, veg. Stir fry & spicy black goat soup! The soup was so comforting and the spicy squid stir fry sauce was a perfect level of spice (also has glass noodles which I love). Overall the portion is huge for such a good price point and taste is authentic. Great service too!

Chicken wings and fries, spicy pork, kimchi pancake, steamed egg.

Food was cooked to perfection and the portions were huge. The ambience was very cozy and delightful. The service top-notch. I would definitely go back.

Loved this place! I had the chicken fried rice and it was delicious. Super flavorful, honestly better than any I've had at other spots. Service was great and you can tell it's a family owned place with a really welcoming vibe. I'll definitely be back!

All of the food was horrible, my mom can cook better. The soon du bu had no flavor and the kaibi tang was way too salty.

I ordered the traditional mix beef bon broth soup with clear noodles and my bf got tofu soup with a side of dumplings. Tofu soup is ordinary! But the sullungtang is really rich and comfort. It was super cold outside so this soup was a perfect balance to it! The dumplings are well seasoned and the kimchi tho, do I need to say anything else? Tastes homemade and authentic! I will come back soon! Oh yeah don't forget to buy a jar of kimchi to bring home! Only $8.99 sooo good

We had ordered a seafood pancake, saw ours be given to another table that ordered later than us. We reminded the waitress once more and saw that one be given to another table as well. We reminded them one last time just to be told "it's coming." At that point, we have been dining in for 45 minutes, finished our soups and just ended up wanting to cancel that order (even though we were looking forward to it). We went up to the cash register and told the waitress to cancel the pajeon but she didn't believe us that it never came and that she had to check our table for herself. Not once were we ever checked up on, just overlooked and ignored... I want to say I like Yi's but I am apprehensive about coming back.

Pricey but delicious !!!…read more The location and the vibe around is just perfect for gathering with your group of friends and family . Not to mentioned, our server was amazing and patient with us since it was my first time. Although, she kinda knew us from the church she still treated us with respect like any other customer without any favoritism or whatesoever. She told me full details of the menu to which is usually ordered or popular at the moment, since I couldn't decide myself. I loved everything she recommended and can't wait to go back again. I specially loved the kalbi and pork tofu combo . We did get the stone bibimpap as well which was amazing !! And the seafood pancake . I think we ended up getting so much food that we ended up just sharing whole just enjoying each others company. My order: ( in the photo) Pork Tofu Soup 돼지고기 순두부 with kalbi combo! And Seafood Pancake 해물파전 The others ordered the half and half chicken and hot Hot-Stone Bi-Bim-Bap 나물돌솥비빔밥 . The side dishes was the best too and I love the kimchi specially. Can't wait to try other dish next time.

Both times I've been here, it's always been very busy, but I've never had to wait for a table because they have a ton of seating. Even though it's pretty packed here, it's easy to have a conversation. The staff here are also pretty friendly and the food comes out quickly (though I wish the banchan would come out sooner). The food here is probably some of the best Korean food I've had in the greater Seattle area. I can think of maybe one other place that I would put on the same level as here. While I would argue that this is on the pricier end, I think the food quality really makes up for it. The kimchi made in-house is fantastic, and I've actually purchased some outside of the meal to take home to snack on later. I like the kimchi pancake and my go-to bibimbap is fresh and filling. Overall, Seoul Tofu House is a great spot, I wish they had another location somewhere up north. But for now, whenever I'm in the area this is my spot.

We were also misled in the fact that we thought we could get fried chicken here only to find out they don't have it on their menu anymore. This was during a Friday evening around 6pm, and my friend and I got seated immediately since the restaurant was empty. You've got a lot of tables inside that are relatively clean and seat mostly groups of 4 or so. News in Korean is playing on a TV nearby, and the interior just feels calming with the uniform wooden floors and tables. Menu is limited here though most of it is for their traditional hangover soups. My friend and I wanted some meat dishes so we got both their spicy pork and beef bulgogi on sizzling grills. Both meats came sizzling when brought to our table, though they weren't piping hot from what I remember. Spicy pork was hard to chew at times, and my friend had to spit out one piece because it was too hard. It wasn't too spicy though I think it would have benefited from more spice since the flavor wasn't too strong. The beef bulgogi was both of our favorites, though the color wasn't too appealing and I felt there was a ton of liquid, as if the beef was plated before all the water evaporated from the pan. Service was top-notch for both of us, though. Staff were attentive in answering our questions, grabbing our utensils and getting us water when we asked. I felt this was a one-off visit because we didn't get the dishes this place is more well-known for, so I'll come back again to have their hangover soups instead.

I'm.. weak, the spicy one was too spicy for me and next time I'll avoid it. Still, all the chicken was juicy and crispy and excellent. My friends got the green onion chicken-- delicious and I think they shred an entire HMart bundle of scallions onto the single dish. Soup: We got the brisket soup. I had too much chicken and side dishes (which they regularly replenished!) to really have much of it, but what I had was clear and tasty. I'm not really in this area much, but I'd recommend it to others! The location is a little odd and tucked away in a closed plaza, but plenty of parking and the food is good and the staff is quick.
