Cold Noodles Soup mul naengmyeon
Alex H.

With summer on the way, it's the perfect weather for mul nangmyeon! DaeBak Wang Mandoo makes a simple dish. No fancy garnishes or a table full of banchan, but the broth is clear and refreshing and noodles perfectly chewy.

We were around the area and were craving for some cold noodles so we decided to come here. I've been here a few times already for their steamed mandoos so I wanted to try their cold noodles since they have them there. The restaurant is small but have ample amount of tables to eat. Upon seating, the waitress gave us a cup of their soup broth which was delicious. Water is self-served by the way. My partner and I ordered their spicy and original cold noodles and a panfried kimchi pork dumpling. We noticed other tables ordered the same thing as us which must've been a good choice. Overall, the cold noodles hit the spot! The noodles were chewy and were perfect to eat on a hot day. The broth was flavorful with bits of cucumbers, apples and pear to make it so refreshing. It was indeed delicious that I wish I could order more but I was already full. The panfried dumplings were one of our favorites. It was crispy and complimented well with our noodles. I will for sure come back again to get my cold noodles and mandoo (steamed or panfried) fix. I really like how the prices are very reasonable especially with everything going up.

Cute shop with a nice mom and pop feel. I love how they serve you a bone broth drink to start your meal free of charge. Was delicious with a peppery taste and great for a cold or even warm day! The noodles were nice, I personally wished it had more chew but that's personal preference. Dumplings were tasty and flavorful. I loved how this was just an option to have kal-guksu and other stuff too! Price was reasonable after tip and tax as well, can easily leave paying $25 with tip and tax

We opted not to go into downtown Seattle to do the tourist stuff and decided to go explore Federal Way instead. After all the seafood we had in the past couple days, we settled on looking for Asian food instead and came across Daebak Wang Mandoo Korean Dumplings on Yelp. The mandoo and the bun was calling to me, haha! We came here for an early lunch, maybe around 11:30 or so on a Monday. It's nice that they sectioned out their restaurant so that there's a section for people waiting for takeout, and a different section for dine-in. Upon sitting down, we were served complimentary broth and it was so comforting. A little bit of a kick to it, but you can feel it warming your throat and stomach as you drink it down. This would be the perfect warming drink for a chillier day, but we loved it. My partner ordered their Seafood Noodle Soup while I ordered the Handmade Dumpling Soup. We also wanted to share a Black Rice Bun to see what that's all about. As the restaurant was empty at the time that we came, food came really quickly. They gave complimentary kimchi as well and that was delicious! A bit tangy, but not too sour. My dumpling soup came with six sizable dumplings, some clear noodles, some slivers of egg omelette, and dried seaweed. The soup is a bone broth base but has a nice subtle seaweed taste to it. It was mild, but very comforting. The mandoo really hit the spot for me. They're pack filled with some pork, clear noodles, veggies and each bite was satisfyingly tasty. They're more on the pepper-y side, so you do retain a bit of the slight kick throughout your meal. It was pretty darn tasty. My partner really enjoyed his Seafood Soup too. Plenty of clams, the shrimps come with head-on (his favorite), and broth was a nice anchovy-based broth. Finally, the Black Rice Bun. It is big. It may not look like much, but when I lifted it up to split it in half, it felt hefty! It's full of red bean paste. Slightly sweet. Not a smooth paste, but a mix of paste and beans. It was a nice sweet dessert after the meal. We're glad we made a stop at this restaurant on our last day in Seattle! All items are reasonably priced as well. Definitely recommend this small, local family business! The owners were so nice and friendly!

Exceptional complimentary broth when I was seated at the table. What a great start. Ordered the cold noodle soup, fried kimchi pork dumplings, and a sprite. They kept refilling my broth cup. Soooo good. Lovely family owned business. Service was better than regular Korean restaurants where it is required to partially yell for service as culture demands. Korean Demon Hunters soundtrack playing in the background with other k-pop artists. My fave is the pork kimchi dumplings and the broth. The cold soup was good, but I filled up on the other complimentary items so had a harder time finishing my big bowl of noodle soup. Flavors were delicate and light, just right for a hot summer day. The menu is simple but just perfect to get the best items done well.

Cute little place. When you walk in it just looks like a take out counter but they ll lead you into the dining area in the next room The fried dumplings were really yummy, the skin is is crisp The yellow daikon was very good and my first time to see yellow colored ones (usually pink or white) The black rice bun is very unique flavor. It's sweet with a hint of saltiness? The coolest thing was instead of the typical tea or water, they give you some kind of spicy broth; felt very good in the cold winter!

Really delicious authentic Korean food. I love the kimchi with the beef bone broth dumpling soup. Everything was perfectly executed and wonderful ample portion.

I love Korean food and federal way is well known for delicious Korean food. This place always satisfies my Korean food cravings with their cold noodle soup and seafood noodle soup which is always perfectly seasoned and has a clean taste! Although they have a small menu, I'm always pleasantly surprised by how well they make all their dishes. I love their sides which always pair well with the main dish. Additionally they are well known for their fried dumplings and king sized mandoo which are perfectly cooked! I would recommend to get one of each flavor of the king sized mandoo so you can get a savory and sweet combo! Since the portion sizes are generous, they make a good snack to share with another person. Highly recommend to stop here for yummy Korean food when you're in federal way!

Kimchi Pork Dumpling fried, pork dumpling, Black Rice Bun - IG @bougiefoodieboi

Affordable and quick meal option in Federal Way. This place is known for mandoo - steamed and fried variants, but they also have other offerings like noodles. As I went here solo, I only got the mandoos. I got the kimchi pork fried dumpling, one pork king sized dumpling, and one black rice bun. Portions are fairly huge (I barely finished what I ordered) and totaled less than $20 after tax and tip, which is a fair price. The fried dumplings were really flavorful and had a nice kick to it. I love the filling, but the dumplings overall were a bit oily so it wasn't as crunchy as I hoped. The king sized dumplings are steamed and are generous portions at $3.50 each. While the king sized dumplings were served aesthetically in a wood block, the wood block had hints of dish soap flavor that mildly mixed into the bottom of the bun. The regular pork had a bit less flavor, so I would opt for the kimchi pork. The black rice bun was a nice dessert as it was a bit sweet yet there were notes of savory inside. It is an interesting filling to try. Most of the service is self-serve like water, etc and you walk up to the front to pay the bill. Everything is fast and no frills so it is a nice quick spot to support local.

Seafood Noodles Soup and Pan fried flat pork dumplings

Great experience, clean interior. Dumplings were super crispy and filling was flavorful, very generous. The seafood noodle soup was full of clams, there were two shrimp and some fish cake. The broth was clear, not oily or greasy. Tons of noodles that weren't too chewy. We were given hot broth upon being seated, salt, hot and the white pepper gives it a good kick.

Potstickers

A hidden gem in a small Korean plaza in federal way. They have a takeout counter and a small sit down area. You can also see the workers making the buns and dumplings through the glass counter. Their menu is small but you can tell they do their specialties well. I was craving cold noodles, so I ordered the spicy cold noodles and a mandoo, because you can't go to a place called "great big mandoo" without trying their mandoos lol. The potstickers were really good. The slight fry was crispy and a nice amount of chewy. The filling was flavorful as well. The big pork bun was also pretty good. I really liked the bun. The filling was somehow not as flavorful as the potstickers filling? Maybe just a different batch with slightly less salt. But they were filled generously. Cold noodles were pretty good! The spicy noodles weren't very spicy, had a bit of sweet flavor. Adding some vinegar made it even better. I like that they included fruit in the toppings which added some sweetness and freshness. My one complaint that it didn't quite hit the same as other cold noodles that I've had. I'm not sure what it was missing, but it just wasn't as refreshing and cool as other places I've tried. Additional notes! They provide a complimentary cup of beef broth which was sooo good. Water is also self service. Overall, solid place! I'd recommend it!!

One of the best accidental restaurants I've found, and it feels awfully overlooked too! I went here with a friend on a Friday night after deciding where to eat and came across here. Parking lot is pretty open, and shares it with several other surrounding businesses too, but it wasn't an issue here. We got seated quickly when we went inside, which consists of a small number of tables and a mirror on the side closest to the entrance. It looks like the kitchen and the seating itself are in separate rooms. Water here is self-serve, and their menu doesn't have very many items, which I actually find to be a good thing. We were served not water, but what I later found out was the beef bone broth found in a good number of main dishes they have on their menu - it was very tasty! So I actually got really excited when I had that same broth on the rice cake dumpling soup I ordered. My friend and I also got fried pork dumplings and two king size pork dumplings as part of our meal. It was an overload of food, but I was more than satisfied! The rice cake dumpling soup's dumplings had a slight sesame oil taste into them, as well as with the king-size pork dumplings, and I love sesame oil a lot! The king-size dumpling had an appropriate amount of veggies that added more to the taste than detracted from it, as I've had with other places that serve dumplings. And the fried pork dumplings were crispy and not too oily, all while being flattened as advertised, making it easier to eat. Each order of fried dumplings has 5, and the server did have to confirm whether they still had more in stock. Food was brought out quickly, and our server checked on us every once in a while to see how we were doing. Prices here are very reasonable, and the food fills you up a lot, so I highly recommend this place if you want something that's somewhat off the radar but has dumplings that can quickly rise to your top three! Keep in mind they have a limit of 2 orders of fried dumplings per table, and 10 king-size dumplings per table unless you pre-order them, and there is an 18% gratuity to parties of 5 or more.

The food was very simple and nothing special. Also over priced. You can get the same quality at H-Mark food court.

Fresh food and good ingredients, but limited menu. The location and setting aren't great. Good for a quick bite, not a special outing.

Service was friendly and the restaurant was clean. Ordering through the QR code was simple and the food came out quickly. Most dishes were delicious, though a few dim sum items were slightly over steamed - the wrappers were very soft and stuck to the parchment paper. Several of us also tried different ramens, which had a rich broth and thick pieces of char siu. The portion size made it a great value. Prices felt fair for the quality and service. I do wish the large tables has a lazy Susan to make sharing dishes easier. Overall, I'd come back, but it's not necessarily a top pick if you're looking for standout dim sum and ramen.

I put in a simple order for my son & I. My son's pho & side of rice came out within 10-15 minutes. I waited for our spring rolls & my vermicelli bowl well after my son had started eating. I asked about my food just before 7pm to which I was told it was still being worked on. I paid my tab then asked a short time later that I'd like the remaining food to go. At 7:15pm I went up to the register to request a refund for the items I never received. I was asked if I had paid my bill (by the same young lady that took my payment). I handed her my receipt & she informed me that my food had been ready. It's unclear why, it was never brought out. I had told her that we had been waiting for an extended period of time to which she agreed. I pointed out that another two person table, that arrived after us, had been served their food before us. The young lady plainly told me that it was out of her control since there were new people in the back. No apology just an excuse. No one took responsibility for the disorganization in the back. I again requested a refund only to hear that she didn't know how to do a refund. I'm the end, I was given the cash for the two items minus the taxes. I've been to this establishment in the past & never have I experienced this type of situation. Hopefully, it was just a one off because they have excellent food. For now, I have no desire to return
