Roast duck roast pork and rice
    Trav H.

This isn't a traditional American-chinese restaurant, this is more authentic Chinese, meats-hanging-in-the-window street stall type restaurant. There isn't servers or dine-in really, it's walk up order to go mostly. It doesn't really seem open from the outside but it is. They have maybe 10 options total. Meats and rice basically. Having said that, I got duck and pork and rice for $18 and it really was delicious. The duck sauce they put on the rice and meat was great. It's not really like bring the whole family type, but if you got a mad hankering for some good meats, this is your place.

Heard good things about this place on social media, so we decided to stop by while visiting another spot south of Seattle. The restaurant is currently takeout only, even though there's indoor seating spaces. If I understood correctly, staff mentioned there are some permitting issues preventing dine in service for now. We ordered the steamed chicken with scallion, golden pig, BBQ pork, house special roast duck, and soy sauce chicken. I was especially looking forward to the golden pig! When it came out, the skin was nice and crispy and flavorful, but the meat had a strong "porky" taste that wasn't quite to my liking. My kid, however, enjoyed it and the other one loved the BBQ pork. My personal favorite was the steamed chicken with scallion, which was tender and well seasoned. Parking was easy in the medium-sized lot, and the service was friendly and efficient.

We tried their noodles for the first time. They are really good. This place always has a steady clientele, mainly driving up, getting some meats, and leaving. Duck, pork, beef. Efficient service. Located near downtown Kent. No nonsense ambiance.

    8. Two BBQ Meat Combo with White Rice , roast pork and roast duck with scallion oil
    Onglee X.

I found Megastar from a local Seattle foodie. When I walked in the restaurant was empty, the window was lined with fresh whole duck, chicken and almost whole roasted pig. I ordered two combos both with roast pork and roast duck. The butcher came over promptly to chop the meats. The cashier made my take out containers filled with white rice and simple sautéed cabbage . The butcher then placed my cut meats on top of the cabbage and spooned some duck fat sauce on top of my rice. I also ordered two scallion oils. The cabbage, such an underrated vegetable. Sautéed just enough that it was tender but not mushy. A nice cleanser paired with fatty juicy meats. The juices from the meats flavored the cabbage just to give it an additional flavor. This is a great deal for your money. I believe it was $16 for the two bbq meat combo. Once I had placed my order the restaurant started to get really busy, people lining up already. The roast pork was juicy and fatty, yet the skin was nice and crispy. Very scrumptious. My favorite. The duck oozing with juicy flavors. Fatty and meaty. My second favorite. The scallion ginger oil compliments both meat well. Gives the meats an additional dimension of flavor , cutting through the fatty juices.

    Half Soy Sauce Chicken (8/10/24)

I'm glad I had Megastar BBQ Restaurant as one of my many Yelp bookmarks in Kent. I stopped in about 2:30pm out of curiosity (8/10/24). Convenient private lot with ample parking. There is onsite seating, but no one actively dining at the time. I waiting in line and perused their posted menu at the front counter while two other customers were wrapping up their transactions. They do take cards (VISA/MC) and cash as payment. I ordered half pound each roast pork and BBQ pork/char siu, plus half a soy sauce chicken. Entrees are also available with vegies and steamed rice. The meats are expertly chopped, weighed on a scale right at eye level, and nicely packaged for takeout. Pleasant counter staff. Of course, Murphy's Law, another staff member brought out four hooks of roast duck to hang in the display area after I had ordered and paid. A good note to self for a future visit. Because I had other stops and long drive back north to Shoreline, I placed the takeout in an ice chest for safe transport on this hot Saturday afternoon. It kept well and was enjoyed back home with The Homie with steamed rice and condiments we had on hand. It really hit the spot as my first substantial meal of the day. The quality is comparable to Cantonese spots in Seattle's CID, greater Puget Sound, and Richmond, BC, Canada. Just note that roast pork is only available Thurs-Sun. The other proteins are available on all business days Tuesdays through Sundays 10AM-9pm. Closed Mondays.

Excellent food and service. Take away, but if you have no place to eat you may ask to sit at one of the available tables.

Megastar remains my go-to for Cantonese style bbq. My family's favorite is the Housr Special Duck and BBQ pork. The staff there are nice. Still no dine-in, takeout only. Price has been going up. According to the staff it's due to the increase in meat price.

I passed by this place not too long ago and was told that they have one of the best roast duck. Not sure what's the different between the special and the regular duck but the special duck was really good. The restaurant has plenty of parking and has ample tables inside. Looks nice and clean. The service was quick and staff was really nice. I would come back here again.

3 meat combo with char siu, roast duck, soy sauce chicken
    Timothy L.

A nice spot outside of Chinatown for traditional Cantonese BBQ! I got the 3 meat combo with roast duck, soy sauce chicken, and char siu. Everything was good and the portions were on the generous end. Also the prices here are good and cheaper than what you may find elsewhere in the Greater Seattle area. Quality is comparable to places like Kau Kau. They are primarily takeout but they do allow you to eat your food in takeout boxes at the establishment which is also nice!

Best location for barbecue meats and owners are super sweet. You can tell by the photo how juicy and soft the chicken looks.Opened daily 10am- 7:30pm except for Monday's. My family come all the way from Burien to buy it even though it's out of the way because it's that good. Not much of a eat in place but there is a lot of seating as well.

    Mercer I.

This place is simply exceptional! Best Chinese BBQ I've ever had. The roast duck and pork is simply without match. I go here at least twice a week

Roasted Pork not even cut up into small pieces. Received no sauce and tons of bones on the bottom.

I think overall the food was good. Like I was telling the owner I normally drive to Canada to get Chinese food, or San Fran for dim sum. I'm pretty hard to please. But since I like to support local, I'll bring my friends here another time for lunch. The decor was minimal but nice. From the outside it looked like it was closed, and like it was a home or doctors office. It's right next to a bikini barista. So we missed it the first time. It's a brick building. The tea was really good. The perfect amount of Chinese leaves, and it was nice and hot for a cold blistery day even if it's almost spring.

For this visit, I came in a group of 5 to celebrate Mother's Day a day early. Even with that, we had to put our name down on a waitlist, and even wait longer than usual since we did not make a reservation ahead of time through the phone. We did eventually get seated about an hour later and got a big table with the rotating glass in the middle for our family-style eating. For it being really busy and people coming in and out everywhere inside, food came out even faster! I swear it took like 15 or so minutes for all the dishes we got to arrive, and they are huge portions. - Lemon chicken: I always ask for the sauce on the side for this one. This is the only place I know of that uses chicken breast for the meat and not chicken thighs like most other Chinese restaurants do. Chicken tempura is crispy and chicken itself is juicy and really hot. Lemon sauce came on a bigger-than-expected bowl. - Mustard green and sliced pork soup: we asked for this one without the salty egg. Essentially a very clean soup with tofu, veggies, egg whites and small pieces of sliced pork. - Lotus root with fresh squid and peanut: lotus roots were a little crunchy, pretty nice dish overall with the peanuts putting their nutty mark throughout the ingredients. - Salt and pepper sole fillet: very salty but to the point where you don't need any sort of sauce. Came in very piping hot. - Ong cai/water spinach: pretty standard for most Chinese restaurants. Clean and a needed veggie among all the fried and salty dishes we got. - Singaporean style noodles: one of my favorites to get. Curry taste is prevalent, and was maybe a little too spicy for my parents to eat. - Razor clams: not a fan of these but I didn't taste any sand grains when I had a bite, so this was cleaned very well. - Lamb pot: lamb was a little touch to chew, and the fried tofu skins carried a lot more flavor for some reason. This was a humongous meal and we were all very satisfied! From other visits we were considering getting their slow cooked herb soup for this visit but it would be $16 per person so we did pass on it. That being said, dishes here are priced reasonably, and portions are really huge. Highly recommend here for a great meal for large parties!
