Kuma Kitchen is an Asian fusion restaurant located in the heart of downtown Georgetown across from Matcha Man. Kuma translates to "Bear" in Japanese. It is street-parking only, but there are a handful of spaces under the bridge that are shared by the different venues. The restaurant is modern and classy with prices ranging from $16-$20 for entrees. I would recommend it as a good date night spot. My boyfriend and I weren't too hungry and so we split the ENOKI FRITTERS ($13) and the PHO-RENCH DIP ($19). The ENOKI FRITTERS were tender, light, and crispy. They were beautifully fanned out around a cup of honey mustard (which I'll be honest, we preferred dipping these in the pho broth from the pho-rench dip instead). While tasty, the fritters were mostly batter with not much enoki and so we were slightly disappointed by that. The PHO-RENCH DIP was hearty, meaty, and cozy. It came with grilled onions, melted provolone cheese, and a side of fries (which you can upgrade to salad instead for +$2), and rich pho consume (dipping broth). The broth was the highlight of the dish with highly concentrated umami, savory, and sweet flavors. The meat was tender and juicy and the bread was light and fluffy. For drink, we tried their HONEY BEE signature cocktail ($15) which had jalapeño infused bourbon, Aperol, grilled pineapple, honey, and lemon juice. This cocktail was on the sweeter side and had tropical flavors with a slight kick of heat at the end. I was hoping for a fresh wedge of grilled pineapple, but it was actually just a thin piece of dried pineapple used as a garnish in the drink. Service was great and we got our food within 10-15 minutes after ordering. Overall: 4/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 4/5 for atmosphere

I was intrigued by some of the Asian fusion options here, as they take on American classic dishes into a whole other level. This is a sister(?) restaurant / neighboring business to 1988 where I loved the Asian fusion cocktails. Here, I was eyeing the banh mi smashburger which included shoestring fries and dipping sauce for $16. Pretty solid price for dine in, and the food execution is on point. They even have some lemongrass beef on top of the beef patty, alongside the typical banh mi fixings like jalapeño, cucumber, and pickled carrots and daikon! It was a really satisfying burger. The fries were really good too - a bit hard to just use a fork but the thinness of the fries makes it easy to soak up the dipping sauce. I also got the Audrey cocktail which is an egg white cocktail. Also $16 which is decent price, and is quite fruity and easy to drink. Service is good as the refilled water periodically and checked up on me. The dining experience here was really smooth as I didn't need to wait long for anything I needed

We stopped in for a mid day lunch in Georgetown hood and found this new asian fusion spot. (Located basically across the street from Fan graphics and all city coffee.) We were greeted by kind staff, seated by the tall windows. The menu is fresh and interesting fusion. Cambodian appetizer looked great, bah mi smash burger, a pho dip sandwich ect. All sounded delicious and it was hard to choose a lunch. This visit we decided on a fresh egg roll salad bowl with added chicken, I liked the fresh rice vinegar/fish sauce dressing (its my favorite flavor of a Vietnamese salad) the added cut up egg rolls and added crunch was tasty and on point. I decided on the bang bang shrimp po poy which was excellent, perfectly breaded crunchy prawns that were juicy inside and served on a expertly toasted baguette with arugula tomato and tasty bang bang aioli style sauce ( I just wished it was more spicy, however it was delicious and creamy) Your sandwich is served with salad or shoestring fries (note the the fries are preseasoned/very salty but paired well with all that bread) carb alert but yumma! Our waitress was nice, checked on us, refilled water which I was thankful for. The meal didn't break the bank, either! A cool cocktail lounge is connected next door, so may have to try those sometime. The only comical complaint was the music was the most generic, sad 80s (like 'hooked on a feeling',ect, lol) Stuff even as a kid you'd groan if you hear it. Maybe switch up the station is all. Sure it's not the staffs fault for the lame soundtrack that day. :D Definitely will have to try more dishes here!

Bulgogi burger and tom yum spaghetti

Really enjoyed this! We came here on a Sunday evening and got greeted and seated right away. The server was very friendly and was quick to refill our waters. Food also came out at a decent pace. Ambiance is nice and cozy. We ordered the tom yum spaghetti and bulgogi burger. The burger was excellent - super juicy, flavorful and well seasoned. A bit messy, but not too bad. The tom yum spaghetti was interesting, in a good way! It had good flavor and a nice sourness that I enjoyed. Meatballs were good as well, not dry. I'd come here again for sure.

Just a memorable meal and another Georgetown gem. Service is attentive but not hovering. I had the smashburger bahn mi with beyond beef. The edges were crispy and delicious. The sandwich was packed with crisp and tangy veggies. Every bit flavor packed with the distinctive tastes of pickled veggies. The fries were good but had been clearly left sitting while the patty was cooked. I had a shaken Mange Tea which did not dissapoint. Still Kuma goes into heavy rotation and you owe it yourself to try this lively stop.

Enoki fritters w/ bang bang sauce

I've been here twice and have enjoyed the food. The enoki fritters are a favorite, but I like to sub out the yuzu aioli to the bang bang sauce. My husband is a fan of their shrimp po'boy. I did the pho-rench dip the first time there. The meat was a little dry, buttt with the pho broth to dip it in, it was great. I was also recommended the Tom yum spaghetti and I am such a fan. The flavor is just right with the lemongrass. It is in a favorite local neighborhood (Georgetown) so we love walking around and then stopping in for lunch!

First time trying Kuma Kitchen for a late lunch. We decided to split 4 appetizers and an iced coffee. Food was bright and colorful, with fresh and crisp veggies. I think I liked the enuki fritters with yuzu aioli (reminded me of honey mustard). Their green beans were nice and crisp. And their Baos had a generous amount of pork belly, which went great with the pickled veggies (tasted similar to a banh mi). Service was friendly and attentive. Casual ambiance. I'll probably try one of their salads or sandwiches next time to explore more of the menu.

Popped in for a second time in two weeks, this time dining in. I definitely think my take out experience was much better than my in person dining one. Came in for dinner and the restaurant was busy, big groups. Took awhile to get seated, took a really, really long time to get our food. We ordered appetizers within 10 mins of seating, placed entree orders about 15-20mins after. Received appetizers after about 30 mins and mains about 30 mins after. Appetizers- honey Brussels sprouts (spicy, good), egg roll salad (little too much nouc mam for me but good) and the enoki fritters (really nice but hard to take apart). Entrees- kou kou udon (spicy, super flavorful, enjoyed it a lot), tom yum spaghetti and meatballs (really flavorful and surprisingly worked well), garlic noodles (lots of garlic), pineapple fried rice with chicken (rice was fine, chicken was overdone and super hard), pho dip (one of the worst things I've had, really fatty meat, no depth in the broth, just overall bad and no one else even wanted to try it). If I could give 3.5, that would be my rating. Inside is really loud, so if you are hoping to have a nice, quiet romantic date, do a weekday!

We showed up on the 4th of July during lunch. Immediately, we were greeted and seated by a friendly face. Iced water was served while we checked out their menu. After a few indecisive minutes, we finally decided on the Garlic Noodles, Mango Salad & Garlic Fish Sauce Wings. 1st dish that came out was the Garlic Noodles. We opted for the soft shell crab for the protein. The crab itself was okay, but the noodles were the star of the dish. The flavor made my taste buds dance with it's buttery garlicky with a hint of sweetness sauce. Then came the garlic fish sauce wings. Once the plate hit the table, the smell hits you in the face like, hey, look at me! When I did, I was a bit thrown off bc it was covered in this thick gooey sauce. I'm used to the Vietnamese wings that were deep fried and then tossed with a sticky sauce. I took a bite of the wing and thought it wasn't bad! Flavor and crispness were all there despite the gooey sauce. Final dish: Mango Salad with steak protein. We requested the server to have the steak prepared more rare. When it came out, we weren't sure if it was going to be tough since it looked pretty well-done. Surprisingly, the meat was tender, juicy & full of flavor! The mango salad itself was on point! The mangos were fresh, crunchy but not too hard. The dressing complimented the mangos perfectly! The service itself was a 5! Servers were attentive but doesn't feel like eyes are just watching you. Came back to refill water multiple times. They even walked around to grab to the cup from behind you vs reaching in front or over you to get it. That was a nice touch! Overall, 5 stars! We'll definitely be coming back and will be bringing our friends and family to try their other dishes!

La Vong Fish Sandwich

Went to lunch here yesterday towards the end of rush probably about 1:30. Was greeted immediately and seated at a nice window seat. Located in the space that was previously Hitchcock. Staff was pleasant and friendly water glasses stayed full and they checked on us asking how the meal was. Large space with plenty of seating and a bar. Extensive Pan Asian menu. Mix of live and fake plants as decor. Nice back wall branding. Have been to The Brick and Ocha in Renton who have a connection. We like our dishes. My dad had the Pho-rench Dip and I had the La Vong Fish Sandwich. Flavors delicious on the fish sandwich enjoyed the mint, dill and pickled onions added freshness to the sandwich. Fish was moist, generous portion like that the sandwiches come with shoe string. The bun was nicely toasted for the fish sandwich but think the bread is almost too soft for the sandwich started falling a part a bit made it difficult to eat. My dad enjoyed his Pho-rench meat was tender and broth was fragrant. Definitely would return, the cocktails looked good would like to try them sometime.

We hd team dinner here with a large group. Great service and separated area for us to sit together just with our party. The main dishes are either noodle or rice but there are a variety of appetizers. Got the green beans and mango salad. Both were great!

Cocktails are 10/10. Strong, refreshing, and tasty.

Cocktails are beautiful and delicious. Enoki fritters, bo kho tacos, and natang dip with baguette are 10/10. Server was attentive and restaurant was bright/clean. Will def be back!

Pineapple Fried Rice

Incredible. Fusion always catches my eye, and this place lived up to my expectations. Firstly, be ready for well-balanced, yet fatty filling experience. We came here before a show, and definitely got fueled (maybe sleepified from the spectacular food). The bulgogi burger was of course delectable, sweet, and worked beautifully with the pickled toppings, and the pineapple fried rice was probably a butter fiesta. Just so solid and yummy. We were seated quickly and service was attentive. I gotta say I wanna come back and have one of those unique flavored drinks. Seems like a great place for a casual happy hour :)

I got the St. Germaine spritz and we shared the lemongrass steak nachos, frites, and kimchi arancini! St Germaine spritz: I love a cocktail/alcoholic beverage that is on the sweeter side. I don't really love when can I taste the alcohol in a mixed drink so this drink was definitely up my alley. It was super refreshing and had a nice bubblyness to it. Lemongrass steak nachos: the lemongrass was definitely a standout taste in these nachos which I loved! I loved the combo of the fresh ingredients like the cilantro, lemongrass, and cabbage with the steak and queso, it helped to balance all the flavors and didn't feel heavy Frites: pretty standard tasting fries, not too skinny and not too thick which I liked! The chili mayo had a nice smoky sweet flavor and it was a great dipping sauce! Kimchi Arancini: these were crispy and had a nice gooey cheese in the middle which definitely had a cheese pull. The kimchi taste I felt was relatively mild which is great for people that don't want such a strong sour kimchi flavor, I love kimchi so I could've definitely had it stronger. They do give you a side of kimchi to go with it, but I didn't love the kimchi it came with. I'm used to getting kimchi from Hmart or other Asian grocery stores but this was pretty mid to me. Overall I would definitely come back to try their other dishes and cocktails! Their brunch menu looks good and I'll probably be back for that next time.

It's a cute, cozy neighborhood spot with good food, reasonable prices, and a warm, relaxed atmosphere. Every time I come, I end up ordering the cauliflower and the bao buns--they're just that good. On my last visit, I tried the galbi-jjim bao, which was generous in portion and really flavorful. The cauliflower dish feels almost like a fresh salad, light and easy to eat, and the gnocchi with chipotle sauce had a nice subtle kick. The focaccia and sardines paired perfectly with champagne and white wine. Right next door is Homer, a very popular restaurant, and I've been to both--but honestly, I prefer this place. Maybe it's a bit less trendy because there aren't many main-course options, but everything I've tried here has been consistently delicious. Overall, it's just a comfortable, inviting spot that's perfect when you want good food and a relaxed drink. Also staff are friendly and welcoming. I've been back many times and will definitely keep coming.
